Baby Jake will be here before you know it!

TGal, sorry to hear you had such a rough time of it. That’s really scary that they didn’t catch the Toxemia until the last minute. I hope Amelia is doing better real soon. Yay for the pees and poos. (Where else would you say that?) Hugs.

LIA, congratulations and welcome to the thread. I’ve found this to be such a great source of information and support.

Jas, congrats on hearing the heartbeats – how exciting. I am sure you will be playing with that all the time.

Jas12, sorry to hear the false labor signs keep teasing you. At least you have a beautiful spot to go for walks.

Tacori, can’t wait to see your surprise pressie.

MrsS, Yay for the 48 hour countdown.

Okay, first timer question here. When the water breaks, what kind of volume are we talking about? I have several months to go, but I can just picture it happening to me at work. I worry I will damage furniture! I’ll probably be sitting on towels for the final 2 weeks.

I am going in for my 13 week appointment tomorrow. I don’t think much will happen at this one since we did u/s 2 weeks ago. Hopefully all my blood work has come back ok. I am going to try to get them to squeeze me in for an NT scan in the next week before I miss the window.

Kay I think it is different for everyone. Sometimes it is a slow leak (baby''s head acts like a cork) and sometimes it is a large gush. I think (Dani is the expert) most women''s water has to be broken in the hospital. At least a few of my friends experienced that. Mine did break in the hospital on its own (after my contrax started) I actually said "I think my water just broke"
20.gif
It was during a strong contrax and it felt like I peed myself. It was a large gush/release for me. From what I saw of it it was clearish/bloodish fluid. Though mine had meconium in it which I think just looks like dark speckles (Dani???) My nurse cleaned it up pretty quickly. A little bit gushed every time I pushed (gross I know). I imagine it would stain and I know some women sleep under towels during the final days. Labor & recovery is messy. Nothing sexy about it at all

Kay: My water broke while i was asleep!
20.gif
for a second i thought i just peed in my pants! but the ''gushing'' just kept going and going and going...just like Tacori, i woke my hubby up and said ''Honey...I think my water just broke!''...never seen that guy move so fast
9.gif
...i think i had a lot of fluid in me coz all the way to the hospital and IN the hospital i felt gushing!!!

WOW! This is going to be quite the week for PS babies! Thanks for the update kaleigh!

You are in our thoughts MrsS- cant wait to hear all about the birth of little Jake!

I guess this means your next jas, but you look so good that it could be another week! Has your midwife talked about induction? mine was going to induce at 16 days....luckily he came before that.

TIA- welcome to the board- I''m sure there are others to welcome, but i just skim the board for births these days, the little man has me pretty busy!

hey gals...we''ll it was a false alarm and the nurse (whom i didn''t like, she just was not nice..oh how i wish dani lived in my city :-) sent us back home. i''m now dilated to a 3 and having steady contractions but my water didn''t break yet so hi-ho-hi-ho it''s back home i go.

will update more later..i''m wiped out and going to try and get some rest
24.gif

sleep welll...i say you will be in full on labor by noon tomorrow. You will need that sleep, and hopefully by then a nicer nurse will be on duty!

oh...and as for water breaking. They broke mine at 10cm and that is when the little man engaged. SO maybe it wont break!

Mrssalvo, Jake is quite the tease!

Jas12, love the pictures...especially the writing in the sand. Brilliant shot!

My 16 week (1d) appointment is later today...no U/S but at least I get to be weighed again.

Just popping in to say congratulations to T''Gal. Sorry it was such a rough ride I''m glad you''re OK! Can''t wait to see pics of Amelia!

Wishing you a great labour, MrsS!!!!

TGal - I am so glad that you are healthy. Congrats for little TTot (oh yes, we should call her Amelia!). Tacori''s advise to you was perfect - get rest, take help, and snuggle the crap out of that little tot!!! Soon, they will be little toddlers who are always too busy for snuggles. I actually have very fond memories of waking up in the middle of the night with Miller and snuggling before I went back to bed. Hang in there, it does get easier.

Water breaking - mine broke at midnight. It woke me up! I thought I had peed myself, but it seemed too much for that. And it had no smell and was very clear. And there was a LOT!!

Bummer, MrsS...that's stinks!!! I am surprised they sent you home (3cms, 3rd baby having reg contractions?), but I guess they figured they werent going to augment your labor throughout the night (e.g. give you Pitocin, break the water). They only like to deliver babies during the day if they can help it!
2.gif
You probably werent making quick enough cervical change for them....They figured you would make it through the night. Maybe you will go back in at some point today, or maybe not. But at the least you know its one more day of being preggo!!!! Little Jake will be in your arms before you know it!

Tacori, re: meconium. Meconium fluid is described as either thick or thin. Thin is almost like a watery, greenish-brownish fluid, and thick mec has a pea-soupish look and consisitency. There is also particulate meconium (which sounds like what you had) which has little bits and pieces of mec in it...it looks like dark spots in the fluid....
14.gif
Its kind of yucky and just makes everything more complicated for the baby, as they can aspirate the meconium (which has a consistency like tar) into their lungs during delivery and have respiratory distress because of it. Not fun.

thanks dani, that makes sense i must admit to being somewhat surprised the opted to send me home seeing how i''m schulded to be induced approx. 24 hours later from when i was there. i''ve had no contractions this morning and feel kinda silly that i fell for a "false-alarm" with my third, you''d think I''d know better
4.gif
we''ll just see how today goes and at least i know tomorrow they can''t kick me out
9.gif

tgal- how are you and little amelia? thinking of you both today..
lili- where are you?
jas12- how are you doing today too?

Oh MrsS, what a tease!! That Jake is gonna be a prankster, I can tell already. Sending lots of baby vibes that he decides to really and truly make his arrival today!

Kay, my water broke at home, and it was like Niagara Falls. Serious nonstop gushing for a looooong time. I soaked many towels. Then again, I''m not sure if both babies'' sacs broke or just one (?).

Jas, LOVE the "Baby Come Out!" photo!! Hahaha! That''s got to go in the baby book for sure
4.gif
Sending baby vibes to you too, lady! But even if your little one decides to stick it out until April 10, that''s only THREE more days!!!

Lili, has Jadelyn arrived??????

Jas12, those were a couple of gorgeous photos. And your description of your Northern town reminds me of Calgary!!!
20.gif

mrrsalvo, sorry for the false alarm. So disappointing but at least you know that Jake will be here for sure tomorrow if he doesn''t decide to make an appearance today. Hope you''re feeling ok.

jas12, what GORGEOUS photos. You definitely do not look overdue to me--your belly is perfect. What happens next for you? How long are you going to wait it out?

Kay, my water broke at the hospital. I had just gotten into a triage room and they sent me the bathroom for a urine sample. As soon as I pulled down my pants, I heard a pop but there was no gush of anything--sorry if tmi but I was standing up so maybe the baby''s head was blocking the flow? Anyway, I peed and there was definitely "stuff" floating in the cup but I still wasn''t sure if my water had actually broken. When I went back in the room as was laying on the table, the nurse checked my cervix and I guess I had been leaking some stuff that I didn''t even realize and the nurse told me that she was pretty sure that pop was my water breaking. I was 5 cm by that point and in major agony so I don''t think I had any clue that there was anything coming out of me!

lili, where are you????

LIA, congratulations and welcome! You''ll love coming here and will get tons of support from an amazing group of women. Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months.

TGal, hope you''re recuperating. Can''t wait to "meet" Miss Amelia!

As for me, I''m feeling fine but now I''m in panic mode because the m/s is gone so I''m worried that something is wrong! Although my belly is telling me otherwise. You can finally see a teeny bump and I may have to break out the maternity clothes soon but I''m holding out for as long as I can. I go for my amnio on Wednesday and can not wait to find out who is hanging out in there--boy or girl! I honestly have no clue.

Miss Lily had diarrhea ALL weekend. It was just nasty. I think she must just have a stomach bug because she''s eating fine and not throwing up and is in great spirits. She''s just having massive liquid poop and blew out a few diapers. And the gas that she''s passing is beyond nauseating to me--the smell is just horrible and rotten. I hope she gets past it soon. By the way, I don''t know if I''ve mentioned one of my favorite finds that have helped tremendously. DIAPER DOUBLERS. They are like giant maxi pads that you put inside the diaper to prevent leaks. We got them for overnight since she started sleeping through and was peeing so much that her diapers couldn''t contain it all. So we bought these things at BRU and they have been lifesavers, not to mention sheet and pajama savers!
2.gif
Well, I had the genius idea to use them this weekend with her liquid diarrhea and they have definitely helped contain the stuff so we didn''t have to change her clothes a million times. Just a tip I wanted to share with all my mama friends! Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi guys--another night of ''false alarms'' for me too--story of my life right now...
MrsS. If i didn''t live across the street from the hospital they would probably know me on a first name basis by now, the only thing that has kept me away is knowing i am so close and can wait and see--so don''t feel silly for going in to get checked. Like Dani said, this is your 3rd, you could have checked-in and progressed very quickly.

Aren''t babies supposed to slow down a lot before being born?--maybe i am just really sensitive to his/her movements b/c i know kick counting is important in the 4th tri (ha!), but this child is still very hyper--i am afraid s/he is much too comfortable for its own good.

Dani and MrsF--i see my OB in the 10th, i think he will do a membrane sweep then and i''ll wait a little longer to see if that works (but that WILL NOT happen, b/c i''ll go into labor before that!--yes, yes, yes!!)
5.gif

I am still not keen on being induced in any other way, unless something is wrong, but the baby is active, BP is perfect etc, I am going for a NST every 2 days. I just have to remind myself that ''technically'' overdue starts at 42 weeks and i am not there just yet, but quickly approaching.....

Litchick--ha--ya, northern ontarians and calgarians share some hickish qualitites (minus the cowboy hats around here). Watched some of the Juno awards last night and there were a few cowboy hats on display there
3.gif

Curly--i am sure your MS just lifted and everything is fine--mine was gone almost overnight like that as well. I am so excited for you to find out the sex! You will tell us right? :-)

Tgal--how are you doing today? Did you have to go back to the hospital with Amelia? Is she eating consistently now? Just to give you an idea of how much i think about my PS friends--while walking yesterday i said to DH "Tgal posted and Amelia peed and pooed and ate during the night" his response: "Oh thank god !!" with a look of pure relief --of course he knew exactly who i was talking about.
We are thinking of you, even our hubbies are .....
