pave buy a new car seat and a new mattress.

Agreed. I have aready researched this WAY WAY too much. And DH and I might have even been to Babies R Us yesterday.
12.gif

And I might have even bought a stroller already...
12.gif

But my logic is that there will be MANY things to buy, even after baby showers, etc. so it makes sense to spread out the expenses a bit. PLUS I have a reason for buying it early, as I got a fabulous Bugaboo Gecko (which I decided I loved way more than the other strollers but couldn't justify the obscene price especially considering that it is technically discontinued) for $300 brand new on ebay. With most of the accessories.
36.gif
It's new because it was one of the ones that ellen degeneris gave out last year on her show and the family just doesn't use it because they don't go out walking around a lot, which we do. The stroller was super important to me because I walk everywhere if possible and we live in a downtown area that I love walking around in.

Pave, part of the reason we loved the bugaboo was that it comes with a bassinet that baby can sleep in for awhile or while traveling. So it just seemed so convenient to be able to wheel it around our apartment if needed, so that is what we are planning on for the first few months, especially since it will be so much easier to BF as far as I can figure out...

We'll be buying a new carseat and mattress too. But as far as furniture and clothes go, we are all about the hand me downs and garage sales. So much nice, almost new stuff, super cheap. Love craigslist too!

This is what Lily thinks of me these days when I get out the camera. She just has waaaaay too much personality!

Hi NF- I think i got confused when I used the other pregnancy calc on pregnancy.org. This time I put in April12 for conception date(I had an lh surge this day). I got January 4th- more in line with your date so that makes sense. I have so many numbers swirling in my little brain, lol.

I guess you guys made me feel better about the hpts. I think I am finished taking them. too stressful.

Tacori- thanks for the early bday wishes! How exciting to get to look forward to new jewels! Thanks for the info about the u/s. My friend told me that some ppl on her board tell the dr. they don''t remember their last lmp so they can get an u/s for dates- too funny. So I guess I will let the u/s stay where it is and just trust the Dr. to explain what''s what. Re:m/s I don''t think it''s that bad right now- we''ll see. It''s kind of like a security blanket for me right now. On a usual day before preg, I eat like every couple of hours anyway, so if I keep up the same, the nausea goes away. I did buy gingerale and saltines yesterday. I''m trying to cut out soda in general and definitely caffeine soda- I know it''s worthless nutrionally so I''m trying. I switched to half caf coffe in the a.m. I am not missing it so far. I actually feel kind of energized right now- like I want to get up early and start my day- In pre-preg, I loved to nap everyday already, and love to be a couch potato so it''s strange that I feel less tired instead of more tired. I think I''m just still so exicted.

hi NF- I love having off from work- I have been on ps all morning so far- think I''m going to have to cut myself off in a few more minutes.

I think I really like the bugaboo- it''s so cool that you got a great deal. I live in a small town near san jose- there are plenty of places to walk to- a cute downtown and the park with a paved trail etc, but I am not sure how much I will actually walk there- in my mind I will alot but reality may be a different thing. So I forsee alot of picking up the stroller and putting it inot the car. Probably good to look for a lighter one I think. DH and I haven''t really talked about any equipment yet- I am not sure what he is going to think about the pricetag- right now he''s been shopping on ebay for accessories for our car- Once I get him on board I am sure he will be a great shopper for baby stuff too. I just don''t want to shock him with the prices yet!lol.

Pave, Tessa is spoiled. Everything she has (except for some clothes and books) are brand spanking new. I don''t feel too bad since we will have at least one more child so I look at it as price per use. I also live in a pretty big house so space limitations are not really an issue with us. Though it does say it folds. Not sure how that works (haven''t really tried). Sleep as much as you can now! Trust me. I really had no idea when we conceived (or when I Oed) b/c I had only had one period off the pill and my cycles were around 40 days. Very irregular. I didn''t even tell them I had no idea. I think an early u/s is standard at my docs...This sounds horrible and while it was amazing to hear her heart, visually it was pretty boring. Not much going on at 6 weeks. I couldn''t even tell there was a baby. More like fuzz.

Burk, can''t wait to see your T having fun!

Curly, baby stuff is rather large! She does love it. I am guessing her hair will get even lighter but who knows. Yay for my PP!!! I am so excited! I can''t believe Lily is almost one! What a big girl! She is so cute!

DH is super excited about toys, but other than that he doesn''t really care. He was wheeling around strollers last night at BrU and he said they were all the same to him! I don''t understand how anyone can think a $12 umbrella stroller is the same as a bugaboo...but that is my DH for you. This is the same man who didn''t understand what the difference was between a lunch and dinner reception. Men!

We decided on a budget for the stroller and then he just let me go at it since he says he doesn''t care. I was super lucky that I was able to snag a bugaboo for that much so quickly, I was prepared to wait it out if necessary, but you''ve got to snag the deals when you can. The guy had it listed as a "gecho" rather than a "gecko", plus his listing was pretty bad, so I think that is why it didn''t go for nearly as much as they usually do. But the guy had very good feedback and so I took a chance. DH wants to put our dog in it to test drive it (mind you our "small" dog is 40 lbs!) to test it, so I''ll let you know what I think once I test it a bit more than I did at the store. Should be an amusing day around our house when we get this bad boy.

If I didn''t do so much walking around here and/or we had a smaller trunk I would have gone for something smaller. But this one is actually pretty lightweight and the gecko is actually smaller/lighter than the other models, so for us I think it will work nicely.

wow neatfreak, you are starting early!

i doubt we''ll make a visit to BRU or start making purchases for a month or 2 still. I''ve made a list and will eventually start a registry, but that''s it!

Too much to catch up on!!

Curly, I LOVE Lily. LOVE LOVE LOVE her. Those eyes!!!! She''s just every bit the little princess, isn''t she? What a doll!

Burk, my babes have a jumperoo (FP Rainforest -- with cool monkey sounds!) and though they haven''t mastered all its tricks yet, they do like it. It''s so cute to see them in it -- though K is still a bit too small for it and sometimes both her arms get stuck in the seat! It''s pretty silly. I''ve tried sticking blankets in there, but she still manages to sink down. Hee hee. Am getting an exersaucer from a friend tomorrow too, so I''m excited that they''ll both have things to BE in to stay busy! It''s definitely getting to the stage where I feel I''m running out of ways to keep them busy when we''re home ...

Funny you mention the chiropractor for reflux because I just read about that on the twins forum too - I''d never heard that before! Glad it worked so well for Tayva. I will ask my doctor about it too. Did you find a special chiro that works on babies? Or just any regular chiro? Does insurance cover it at all?

MsF, cute photo of you and your man! So envious you''re so close to the beach ... that''s awesome.

TGal, congrats on the increase in milk! How many weeks old is Amelia now? She''s past one month now, right?

Jas, hey woman!! Aww, Co is adorable (and I like that you call him Co - so cute!). The emotions those first few weeks are *rough* aren''t they? Like someone (Diver?) said, it''s kind of hard to acknowledge it when you''re going through it but it''s pretty clear once you get past it that you were a hormonal wreck. Glad you''re feeling better.

We need some belly pics, ladies!!! OK, off to reread about the mommies-to-be so I can comment on y''all ...

OH, I just came back from my first Stroller Strides class. Any of you take them? (MsF, I think you mentioend it before?) Kicked my sorry little arse. But in a good way! My arms will definitely be sore later. Yay for exercise!

Oh forgot to mention - MrsS, Jake is a cutie!!!

Kay, I think most times the foot growth is length, though I''m sure feet get swollen too during preg resulting in wider width. My feet got slightly bigger lengthwise when I was PG but they went back to their normal size after. But I know someone who went up 1/2 size with each of her pregnancies and stayed that size. So dont'' buy expensive new shoes just yet!

Oh Bobo, so sorry to hear about little B. I agree with the other posters - get him in to see a dr. asap. Is he doing any better today?

Tacori,
36.gif
for your push pressie!!!

snlee, cute cross stitch! Have you guys seen felt name books? They are the cutest things and I am dying to make one, but I couldn''t possibly do it in a milion years because a) who''s got the time?? and b) I can''t sew a straight stitch to save my life. Bummer. I''ll find a photo or link to post.

Ms Lili, how''s Jadie?? Photos please!!

Janine, congrats on your probably girl!
2.gif
Looking back on the classes I took, I realize that they weren''t all that useful, but I liked taking them at the time - felt like I was being a good parent before I was a parent! (Obviosuly, CPR is the exception in that it is very useful and important to know.)

Jackie, please don''t get too hung up on what the scale says -- or what rude people say! I thought I''d fall into the 35-45 lb weight gain category too, but somehow I wound up packing on close to 60 lbs., and I wasn''t eating that ridiculously. Your body just does what it does and a lot of it is out of your control. Especialy since you think you''re going to deliver early anyway b/c of the fibroids, you really need to concentrate on getting that weight on to get the babies to healthy weights. And if anyone has a problem with you GROWING HEALTHY BABIES, then they need to seriously reevaluate what''s important in life. I wouldn''t trade my two babies in for the flattest belly in the world.

Ella~we are borrowing the rain forest one! Tayva doesn''t really understand that she could "jump" more than her normal wiggles but she loves all the toys. It''ll be nice for you to have the exersaucer too so each of your kiddos can be entertained.

My husband goes to a chiropractor who is actually a friend of his for his back so we just took Tayva to the same guy. He let me "test" what he was going to do before he did it to Tayva and he''s really good with her. I think there are some chiropractors that do "specialize" more in it but ours doesn''t. Our insurance has a co-pay but that''s all we pay for it. How is Gabe doing? When we first tried it we were willing to do ANYTHING to get her feeling better...I really do think it has helped (with the pooping too!).
9.gif

Curly~so exciting all the birthday celebrations!! Lily is such a doll.
30.gif

neatfreak~you are on top of things! I couldn''t get my husband to go baby shopping with me until it was a couple weeks before my shower and we NEEDED to register...I think I was 28 or so weeks preggo!

Well my friend who just had a baby told my DH and I to do everything now before you don''t care anymore, lol! I figure I''d rather go around testing strollers and carseats, etc. when I still feel ok, rather than wait until I am huge...we''ll see if it was a good decision in the end!

Uh oh, I just got called out at work. A lady in the bathroom asked if that was a little belly she saw. I went bright red. Then she said she could tell b/c I was glowing (uh, no I''m just bright red!). Anyway, she said she won''t tell a soul and that it''s only because she''s a mom.

I was hoping to make it 2 more wks till my big u/s. I just am a v. private person and if anything turned out wrong, I''d hate to have everyone know my business. My DH thinks it''s crazy and I should just tell them, but I keep thinking..it''s only 2 more wks. But now maybe I need to face the music!

Uh oh! My best friend actually asked me if I had a new blush the other day because my skin looked "glowing" too. I just said that indeed I had purchased a new blush. I didn''t mean to lie and she is my best friend, but I am also a private person and want to keep it secret at least until my first dr.''s appt.

But at this point Janine, you might have to start telling people, or else at least tell them if they notice! But just because one observant woman noticed doesn''t mean everyone will.

That''s great advice! I wish I could have gotten DH to go earlier...I was so excited and did a lot of online looking but couldn''t get him to go with me. Men.

lol Janine...do you think you''re obviously showing yet?
Could you imagine how embarrassed that woman would have been if you weren''t pregnant?!?

janinegirl~you have to tell people when you feel comfortable doing so. We didn''t tell close friends until after 12 weeks because I wanted to get through my first trimester but then I told my work at around 16 weeks because I teach school and we were coming back from summer vacation and I didn''t want people thinking I had too many cupcakes over break!
23.gif

Thank you ladies for all your thoughts!

update on little B''s puking situation: yesterday after work we went to MIL house to pick him up. MIL said he didn''t puke all day so that was a relief to hear.

We''re thinking maybe it was a burp that got stuck in and we didn''t get the signs from little B and keep feeding him that cause him to puke that day or maybe just a occasional reflux? (is there a such thing?)

I''m going to keep a close eye on him for the next couple day. If he start to puke again then I will take him to go see his pedi.

Oh, and I never "glowed" unless you call teenage acne glowing!
6.gif
I think my friends may figure it out early in the next pregnancy when I start getting all acne infested again!!

janine, do you think you''re showing? If you are, I think you should start telling people. It feels good to share the good news and not hide the belly. At least it happened in the bathroom and only one person knows so if you want to keep it a secret for 2 more weeks you can. My coworker got outed in the hallway! I happened to be walking by and heard baby bump. She was around 15 weeks, which is where I''m at now. I wonder when I''ll get my first comment from someone who doesn''t know I''m pregnant. I''ve told my boss and some coworkers already. Soon, lots of people will know.

One of my other pregnant coworkers totally knew I was pregnant before I told her. She asked me point blank, "when are you due?" I was around 13 weeks then and not showing. She said she could tell I was pregnant - not acting myself, more tired looking. I do recall her asking me one day if I was okay...I just said I was tired! I think some women have a sixth sense about pregnancy!

I think I am showing from the side if people look for it. It''s only in my belly which is a bit rounded now. However I''m mostly at my desk and have been wearing dark tops and jackets. But you know, I look at myself everyday so I may be underestimating how it looks. My guess is people might be wondering, but not sure. Sometimes I think I''m getting looks, but it could be my imagination!

I''m going to take it day by day and see if I can manage 2 more weeks!

HI!!!
i can''t believe how long it''s been since i''ve posted...i''m sorry i''ve been so remiss. i have definitely been checking in periodically to see how all the amazing mommies and pre-mommies :) are doing, but have been TRYING to find the energy to post!! i''ve decided that it''s kind of like writing thank you notes for gifts. you WANT to do it (and i actually enjoy doing it), but it''s so hard to start. and then the longer you put it off, the harder it gets, etc. not that posting is a chore (oh man, my metaphor is definitely stretching), but i feel like i''ve missed so much that it''s hard to catch up!!!

ok, enough babbling.

first, CONGRATULATIONS to pave lover and neat freak!! yay to more new preggos. i SO hear you on the bloating. i honestly think it was one of my first clues that i was pregnant (at like 3 weeks...not kidding). i NEVER get bloated with my periods and i kept thinking that i was looking chubby!! :) and also, i am a HUGE fan of the bella bands. i bought the black one really early (and really used it, especially when sitting for an extended period of time). i just got 2 more colors and am thrilled. hopefully they''ll get me through the next few months!

please don''t laugh, but i also ordered support stockings/hose. my mom got bad varicose veins during pregnancy and i don''t want to go through that! i''m on my feet a lot at work, so hopefully they will make a difference!

next, i''m so sorry to hear about sick babies!! bobo, PLEASE find a doctor that you connect with. there''s nothing worse that not feeling like you see eye to eye!!
and i think it''s great that the chiropracter (sp?) is helping teyva...but please make sure you research it fully. i don''t have much experience with them (especially in babies), but i have heard absolute horror stories in adults. dh is an interventional neuroradiologist (big fancy word basically meaning he treats strokes and stuff), and has told me that with spine adjustments, there have been a bunch of cases where somehow one of the posterior arteries going to the brain (vertebral artery) gets nicked and causes a stroke. VERY scary stuff. and i''m sure (hopefully), VERY different than what can happen in babies!!

new mommies (tgal, jas, mrs s, lili): it sounds like you guys are doing GREAT. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the pics. please post more (of course, that definitely does NOT pertain only to new mommies...i LOVE the pics of tessa and mrs. flutter, lit chick, ella''s, curly''s etc). such gorgeous kids on this site, i tell you!! tgal, so HAPPY to hear that your milk is coming in. you have been a true champion at nursing!! also, how fun for all of these 1st birthdays!!

diver: i think it''s GREAT that you love your botox. i have done a bunch and watched a bunch, and it''s amazing how great it can look. but i definitely agree with you that i would go to someone well-trained and qualified. it''s not that it''s very difficult to do, but there is a certain finesse about it and obviously people can screw up!! it actually IS (i think) FDA approved for treating wrinkles, but only in the area between the eyebrows (called the glabella). everything else (forehead, crowsfeet, bunny lines, etc) is off label. not that it makes a huge difference....

jackie: i think your MIL needs a big slap in the face. thank goodness you are able to see the (very) small amount of humor in the whole situation!!)

janine: it''s amazing to me that you''ve been able to keep the whole thing secret so long. hopefully that woman really will keep her mouth shut until YOU are ready to share!!! good luck with the amnio!! i''m sure you''ll do great!

quick update on me: just about 12 weeks (well, either today or friday depending on which date i''m using!), and i''m FINALLY starting to feel better. more energy, and thank goodness, less puking!! it''s been a really busy few weeks so at least it''s going fast. dh and i went to LA a couple weeks ago for passover which was really fun. i love going home and being with my parents!! unfortunately dh''s grandmother passed away last weekend so we had a funeral and lots of family over then. it was great seeing all of his family, but of course a little sad.

dh is definitely more traditional than me. we are both jewish and i guess the custom is that you are not supposed to buy ANYTHING (or at least bring anything baby related into the house) before the actual birth. the thought of that just totally stresses me out (i mean, come ON, half of the fun is getting the nursery together, etc). anyway, we are meeting with our rabbi this weekend to talk about finding a happy medium for us.
a good sign regarding dh''s willingness to prepare though....we were at a charity auction this weekend and bid on a really beautiful rocking horse. much to our suprise, we actually won it. it''s now hanging out in our garage. haha!!

what else? we have our first trimester NT screen on monday and i can''t wait to see the baby!!

i guess that''s all for now. (ENOUGH ALREADY, i know!!).

so sorry if i missed anyone. i LOVE reading this thread!!!

Wow, I''m always shocked when moms ask other women if they''re pregnant - don''t they remember that they too wanted to wait until X date to tell people on their own?? I never ask people if they''re pregnant unless it''s ridiculously obvious! I say if you want to wait 2 more weeks for your own comfort level, then wait 2 more weeks. Let people speculate all they want! I didn''t tell people till I was I think 14 weeks preg (with twins at that so my bump was def. on the fast track!), and I know that people were wondering, but who cares!

Burk, Gabe seems to have just gotten the hang of the jumper! He''s bouncing all over the place right now -- so cute! The music is pretty funky with that one, too -- hubby and I both really like the noises it makes.

argh!! i can''t believe i forgot snlee!! so sorry. i LOVE the cross-stitch you''re working on! i love knitting and went to the yarn store this weekend. it''s so FUN to be knitting little baby stuff. of course, i have to say "not for MY baby" to dh (although he knows i''m completely full of it!!

and jen! hope you''re doing well!!
and eph...hope you''re ok and had a GREAT trip to turks and caicos... we went there 12 years ago and it was AMAZING!!!
and kay...so glad you''re going to work out a way to keep your car!

:)

lili, we find out the gender May 30th! Wow, May 30th is going to be a big day! Pave''s birthday and Tacori''s PP (yay, I can''t wait to see!) is that day too! It''s also our 8 year anniversary since we first started going out, which is why we chose that date for the big u/s (since it is very close to 20 weeks)! It''ll be an exciting day!
1.gif

curly, thanks for the heads ups about feeling movement. I''m aware that most 1st timers don''t feel anything till around 20+ weeks and with future pregnancies you feel movement sooner. That''s what every doctor says. I''ve read it happens between 16-20 weeks. I won''t be worried if I don''t feel anything till 20+ weeks but I can hope it happens sooner!
2.gif

NF, wow you are starting early! I didn''t start looking at baby stuff much till after my 1st tri. I wanted to make sure everything was okay before I got too into baby stuff. I was also way too tired the first tri!

omg...and GEMMA!! how''s life down under? what kind of work do you do again??? hope you''re doing well too!!!!

Superquick driveby to say WELCOME to Pave!

I will have to come back and read thru this thread!!

May 30th is a big day!

I didn''t feel movement (where I was SURE it was the baby not just gas) until 20 weeks. Then I felt I light tap. It was very exciting.

I don't think I can catch up and responds to everyone. This thread went 3 pages today.

MsF, Tacori & Curly - love the pics. MsF, you look great and so does Ian as always. Tessa looks like she is having a lot of fun in the exersaucer. Lily looks so adorable sticking out her tongue.

Used Baby Stuffs - we are buying things new because we figure we can use it again with 2nd kid. We might borrow stuffs (like play yard & exersaucer) from SIL since our nephew will be 4yo and don't use them anymore. She hasn't offered and we feel a little weird asking, so we'll see.

Accuracy on Gender - I hope our little one didn't change sex on us at our next appt's u/s. hehe. I just spent a couple hundreds dollars on clothing at the Macy's one day sale and f&f presale, and some are dresses. I couldn't resist since they were such good deals. I bought stuffs from 3 mos to 9 mos.
25.gif

Feeling Huge - I got comments from strangers. One guy was like are you having twins? He doesn't even know how far along I am. I don't think I am that big. Then another lady said you look like you are going to giving birth anytime now. Hmmm do I look 9 months pregnant already? I feel huge now.

Q, strangers would comment on my huge belly as well. People are rude. They don''t think before they speak. Try not to let it get to you. I remember my neighbor saying I looked like I was about to pop when I was in my 2nd tri...thanks buddy. What''s his excuse for having a gut b/c growing human life seems like a pass.

Buy even bigger sizes 12m+ b/c people will give you lots of clothes as gifts. Seems like everyone gave us 3-6 month winter stuff...well since she is on the small side and it gets hot here early she won''t wear half the stuff. Oh well...
