Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

eph, I love the urban in white. I just love the clean, modern lines which is hard to find in a crib. We are happy with it. DH just lowered it to the lowest setting and I am surprised that I do not have trouble getting her (I am a shortie).

Q, hope you pass it! I think DH installed the car seat when I was 40 weeks. I guess he figured even if I delivered first he would have time to do it before we brought baby home. He''s silly like that.

Snlee, good luck! Maybe the pink wave will continue. The 20 week scan was a highlight of my pregnancy for sure.

Hey snlee, your odds are 50/50...just like everyone else.

Qtiekiki, we installed it at 38 weeks I think. Total procrastinators! Same logic as Tacori''s DH...if push came to shove, he could come home and install. However I wanted it in before my due date so I could take it to a technician for a check up and OK.

mmmmm.....squash.......

Hehe... yes, I envisioned my statistics professor cringing as I wrote that very un-mathematically-sound prediction earlier.

Ephemery, when a gal in our circle of friends who was due 6 weeks earlier than me had a girl, I immediately told TGuy that must mean we are having a boy because of the odds...so I know how that logic goes!

Tacori...hehehe. Looks like she's lovin' it! And send some of her eyelashes Amelia's way will ya? My girl is still missing half (at least) of hers, not to mention still MIA brows....

ETA, still laughing at that pic Tacori...did any of that make it into her tummy???
2.gif

TGal, I SWEAR it is not staged! I did not put extra on her just for the picture. She is so messy. I think she ate a *small* amount. I can't tell if she likes it. I think it weirds her out. She is smiling b/c I was probably talking/singing/being silly NOT b/c of the squash. I saw "awwww" to get her to open her mouth and it totally works b/c she always smiles when I do it. So then I shove the spoon in. She does spit most of it out but my doc said it WILL get easier as she gets used to it.

ETA: she is lucky and has her daddy's eyelashes. I heard the nurses comment about how long they are when she was born. She has always had eyebrows too....but they have gotten thicker. Amelia will get them soon I bet.

Well it''s nice to know you aren''t torturing your child for a photo shoot...lol.

TGuy has the best lashes. Amelia has my anemic ones. Wah. I bet you if I ever have a son, HE''LL get them.

TGal, don''t you hate it when boys get the great lashes?!? Arggg...I do. Tessa lucked out. Did I tell you our friends asked if we were trying for #2? Crazy!!!!!

She totally did. She''s such a cutie...lashes or not.

But yes, I HATE it when the boys get the lashes. And full lips. And workable hair. And great butt. Do I sound bitter?
41.gif

That IS crazy. Tell them to stop the nutty talk! My mom was pregnant with my bro when I was Tessa''s age. Can you imagine?

I should go get the tot...she''s napped for two hours now. I''m always amazed that she will go to bed at night with all this sleeping...doesn''t seem logical but I am not complaining. I''ll probably keep her up for the next 3 hour shift and give her a bath before bedtime...

TGal, your poor mom! Arggg...I haven''t even lost the baby weight yet. She is not even sleeping through the night yet. So NOT ready for #2. Have fun with Ame!

Lili--i would do what Tgal suggested, try to wake J a bit and then put her down--probably not much of a big deal now, but down the road it will help to est. that habit.

Neatfreak--i had a girl feeling and never pictured having a son (i actually still catch myself thinking about things in the future, that i used to daydream about while i was preggo and thought it was a girl and i still picture a girl--some habits die hard! Then it clicks that i have a son i''ll be doing those things with! Weird eh?!) , but if it turns out to be a little boy know that soon enough you won''t be able to imagine not having whatever child you have. Are you finding out?

Tgal--
thanks for the tear-duct info--i bet that''s what it is. I didn''t rush to the doc. b/c it seems to clear up a bit by the afternoon.
i hang with Cohen as well and just chat for a while until i see the sleep window appears (the yawns and glazed look) and put him down--*sometimes* it works, but usually not in the afternoons. I swaddle him and put him down and he can lay quietly for at least an hour before starting to cry! this confuses me b/c i can tell he''s tired, and he''s happy and calm but i feel such guilt to just let him lie there!
At night and in the morning (after his 6:30 am feed) he puts him self to sleep.

I''ve tried the swing 3 times now--he doesn''t seem to get drowsy in it--the only things that work during the day is the stroller or car ride--and he awakes when i stop moving. He is just so busy!
.........

I got a new jelly-bean sling and i like it better than the moby (no wrapping required) i''ve only used it once so far, but he actually stayed in it.

QT: so sorry about the test... good luck on the 3 hour (UGH)
snlee: what is the date of the big u/s? mine is june 6th (a little on the early side as i'll only be about 17.5 weeks), and since i'm a wuss and giving into DH on the surprise thing i don't think i'll have anything exciting to share.
7.gif

quick update on my end: had my monthly appt this morning. everything looks good. i've gained 2 lbs so far (at just over 14 weeks) so they were happy with that. i did get in a little bit of trouble about the bleeding i had over the weekend... doc was like, "why in the world didn't you call? you should have called!!" me: "there's nothing that could have been done anyways." doc "Yes, but we would have gotten an official u/s" me "well, dh did one and everything looked good." doc "so, where was the placenta?" me: "um....not sure."
oops. guess she's a little worried about a previa... i was told unofficially at my NT screen that it looked like i had a posterior placenta, but that didn't make it into the report for my doc. oh well. i guess doctors really don't make good patients!!
anyway, now i'm on "pelvic rest" for a month. oh well. not that dh has ANY desire to go near me after that decidedly unsexy aftermath on saturday!! :)

hope everyone is well!!

OK, I''m starting to wonder if something is WRONG with this girl. She''s always tired! Fed her at around 6:15. I put her in her swing for her evening relaxation and she''s dozing again! I tried to keep her up by playing with her but she''s yawning and cranky. How the heck am I going to get her down this evening? This is the most she''s slept I think...eek. I have a feeling it may be a long night.

Jas, if it is a tear duct issue, my doc said to take your finger to the spot between her eye and nose and massage in a small circular motion. Amelia''s lasted on and off for 3 weeks...it was icky a lot of the time!

Don''t feel guilty...I think babies could use some quiet time, no? I know what you mean though...I felt like I should be doing something...talking to her or whatever because I didn''t want her to think I was ignoring her. But when I tried, she got cranky. There are definitely times she wants to hang out and times where she just wants to be left the heck alone. Of course now she just sleeps all the time...

Did you try swaddling in the swing? I swaddled her AND put two rolled up receiving blankets on either side of her so she felt all nice and snug. Also used a paci (I did not introduce either the swing or paci until about week 3) Amelia will cry if the carseat or stroller stops too. But the swing is continuous action!!

oops...almost forgot my biggest news of the day...

I THINK WE JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!! we submitted an offer a couple days ago and the seller accepted today. yay...little baby will actually get a nursery. it''s only about 2 miles from where we live now, but it has gorgeous views, and it''s right on the golf course... and walking distance to the elementary and middle school!

that means: new house, new job (going into private practice starting in september), and new baby all within like 3 months!!
whose life am i living?!?!?!

Talk about procrastinating... DH and I were at Baby Style about month ago. We were just browsing. The two sale associates were both helping this one guy. He was looking at infant carseat. He bought one, then he said "yeah I better get one. I am picking the baby up from the hospital in an hour." I was shocked.

I forgot to mention that the maternity ward tour was great. I am happy with the LDR rooms, very spacious, has a rocking chair, birthing ball, and the bed can be adjusted for squatting and other positions. When they were going through general info, they mentioned their childbirth classes schedule. Then DH said "do you want to take it? I think we should take it because I need to know what I am supposed to do." I am happy that he is proactive about it.

QT: you are so lucky your dh wants to take classes with you. i have a feeling i will have to literally force my husband to go to any with me!!!
hmmm...maybe i can use some of my bargaining power since he''s getting his way with not knowing the sex! (kidding)

Lia, yeah on the house! Decorating the nursery is so fun! My DH didn''t want to go to the classes either but basically gave him NO choice. He is glad he went and even had fun.

Q, that is last minute. But then again SHE could have bought the car seat too (unless she went really early). DH has NEVER set a foot in a baby store.

Q~you're a lucky woman. My husband wanted nothing to do with the classes. Afterwards, though, he was glad he went.

Tacori~How cute is Ms. Tessa and her squash...
9.gif
Love it.

LIA~Congrats on a new house. So fun!

Oh, and we've had more giggles!! So fun. DH still hasn't heard them because he's been working late and she's going to bed when he gets home.

Also re: conditioning (better term than manipulation Tgal :). I think starting to get babies to learn day from night ect is possible at a very young age. So some conditioning surely is happening or babies would have day and night confused forever, but as far as taking advantage or getting spoiled, I don''t think it''s possible when they''re really young. I also think that as far as sleeping and how you approach things it''s different with every baby. I had always planned to start to "sleep train" to a certain degree and let Tayva CIO at 4 months but I won''t let her CIO due to her reflux. She is still a hurting baby and I just can''t see CIO when there is a real possibility her cry could become an "I hurt" cry and I may not catch that. I don''t rock her to sleep every night but if she''s having a tough night due to her tummy and reflux problems I will either rock her or bounce her to sleep. Gotta do what works for you and your baby. I doubt I will do the same thing with baby 2...who knows (and who the heck is thinking about baby 2 right now?!?!

Ahhhh timer to rang....baking bread.........

I remember before when I was lurking on here that you said that. I will surely have the same experiences if we have a boy because as of right now DH and I both think it's a girl. And if it's a boy I have threatened DH that I will have our OB (who is gay) work his magic powers on the boy so he'll want to go shopping with his mom.
2.gif
(Just kidding of course...)

We do intend to find out, I am just not good with surprises at all and my anxiety makes anything unknown scary to me rather than exciting! So we'll be finding out ASAP. I wish I was the kind of person who didn't want to find out but I am really the total opposite. oh well.

M/S is an ongoing thing for me these days, like Eph I am having a hard time finding things that appeal to me to eat, especially for dinner and breakfast. Lunch is smoother, but the beginning and end of the day seem to be hardest. Let's just say I have been eating a TON of watermelon and plain pasta. Poor DH has been on a mission to find me things to eat so he has been at the grocery store almost everyday. Buying them out of everything. Our kitchen is now as well stocked as the grocery store, but still not much I can stomach! My plan is basically when I am feeling well enough to eat to eat as much as I can to get something into my body. But luckily most days it isn't debilitating, and I am not throwing up, just really horrid nausea.

Please tell me it's all worth it new mommies??? Right?????

Tacori,

What an adorable picture of Tessa and LOOK at those Lashes. You ought to send her picture into a baby magazine!!

Linda

neatfreak, can''t tell you that yet.
3.gif
Just kidding.

Burk, I totally don''t know how you manage with her having reflux. It must just break your heart. My friend''s kid (the one who I think is a great mom) had reflux and man...so much work and heartache. Interestingly, her daughter was sleep trained at 3 months so she must have been OK to some degree. I''m with you...if my baby had reflux or was colicky, I wouldn''t even think of it until way past 4 months. Probably 6 months. My friend''s baby had reflux for a year...
8.gif

Well, Amelia was awake on and off between her 6 pm and 9 pm feed. But starting at 8pm she started to get REALLY cranky. I was going to give her a bath and then put her to bed, but we made the decision to skip the bath...she was that tired and hungry. We''ve fed her and now she''s out for the count again. We''ll see if tonight is a good night or a not so good one. If she sleeps well, I''m going to attribute it to the "MIRACLE" blanket!!

TravelingGal,

Have you posted a picture of little Amelia? I love that name, by the way.

Linda

Yes...I posted a pic of her on her one month (5/1, but I think I posted on 5/2 or 5/3), a couple right after she was born and then a few more 2 couple of weeks later. I have no idea what page they are on though...

Thank you, I will look them up in the morning. I bet she is a little doll.

Linda

TravelingGal: I couldn''t wait, I looked her picture up. She is adorable, what a cutie pie. How proud you and your hubby must be!!!

I just love looking at all of these adorable baby pictures.

Thanks Linda! But we didn''t do anything to be really proud...we just had sex.

Morning--

neatfreak--i with tgal--can''t tell you it''s all worth it yet (check back when i''ve had some sleep!) lol
I joke that Cohen is going to be a shopper whether or not he wants to. My mom and sis live to shop (me not so much, but i enjoy their company) and Charlie, my DH is an excellent shopper, he luvs to do pretty
much anything so maybe that will rub off on him :-)

Tacori--I think you need to frame a colorful series of those T pics in your kitchen--too cute
.......

Co went from 9-4:30 last night. Wonderful, only I wasn''t sleeping with him, i have a head cold and my body is dying for sleep and yet for some reason i just lie there wide awake, blowing my nose and thinking about how much i need sleep.urrrrrg!

Okay, enough of my complaining--i am ''debbie downer'' lately aren''t I? I am going to have a shower while he ''s quiet and put on my happy face.
