Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

My shower gift was a hit. I guess that will be my standard gift now.

Sorry if I missed a previous post on this, but what was the shower gift? I''m always looking for good ideas! Thanks!

Jas12- your shower looks like it was so fun. I love all the decorations and you do have a beautiful family. Little Cohen is one handsome little man...love that blond hair!!

mrsf-I agree with tacori, bring along some of Ian''s favorite toys and just do your best. Most people are pretty understanding on flights and there really is nothing you can do.

MrsM- hang in there. My sister was due last thurday and still no baby. she goes back to the dr. tomorrow..the waiting at the end is the hardest part I think.

ella- I think you are probably right jake isn''t going to get a ton of use out of the blanket. He actually busted out one arm last night. I wish I''d thought to get it sooner b/c he really loves to be swaddled...but oh well.

tacori- that is so awesome Tessa is sleeping so well!!! I wouldn''t worry about the diaper either if it''s not bothering her.

Hallo...

MrsS, glad to hear he likes the blanket. Don''t worry about bustings arms...I was surprised my little peanut did it early on, but most nights it still manages to restrain her. I just make sure I do it properly and nice and tight. Love the pic of him in it...so neat to see all the babies photos and commentaries as they pretty much happen!

Gemma, I hope it does settle down for you. I''ve heard that for some women it doesn''t, but have yet to meet a woman that happened to.

Jen, I''ll keep my fingers crossed for at least one girl!

MrsM, I am eagerly teetering on the edge for you!

MsF, no worries...as mentioned, most people are understanding of babies. Ian is so cute...he''ll charm the pants off the grumpies. And he doesn''t seem that big to me...my friend''s kid was 21 pounds at his 6 month weigh in.

Jas, great pics! Co looks so different and cute as can be! Is his hair growing in? You have to post those last pics bigger!

Ella, I hear ya when people say you have the best behaved little baby. Makes me laugh when people say it and then I get nervous that Amelia will make them a liar and chuck a fruity right there!

Tacori, aww, so sweet of your mom to day that. I am so thrilled for you that Tessa is sleeping so well. I clearly remember your sleep deprived posts from a few months ago!

Burk, I am really hoping that the new doc can help Tayva!

Well, all still good here on the sleep front. Nothing''s changed except I am wondering if I should really shift her sleep time earlier and see what happens. Last night she napped on my chest (which is a new thing) from 6-9 pm which I watched a movie. Then down in the crib at 9 for bedtime until 3 am. Then back down until 6 am after a bottle. That''s 12 hours of sleeping!

Tgal~That's great that Amelia is starting to get into a great sleep schedule! Isn't movie watching with sleeping baby on your chest the best?
21.gif
Thanks for the well wishes for T.

Jen, Tacori, Ella Mrs F and anyone else I missed~Thanks for thinking of Tayva! Her appointment was worth our time. The new pedi thinks she is cow's milk intolerant and that is what is causing the reflux. I started crying in the office because I was so upset at myself for quitting breastfeeding....we didn't think it was milk because I eliminated dairy for 2 weeks while breastfeeding and saw NO change....and she did great on regular old similac....well doc thinks it was the change in how the proteins were broken up that gave her the initial relief on formula. So, the plan is to do Neocate formula and see how things go. She has an appt. with her regular pedi tomorrow for her 4 mo. She has barely eaten in the last couple days so if I can't get her to eat the new formula (she has been hurting due to the formula she was on having cow's milk and then her reflux acting up) then we'll try a different med for the reflux so that she is feeling better, so she won't be afraid to eat. What a mess.

On another note...we tried cereal with spoon again yesterday (her 4 mo. birthday) and this is how it went.......

One more....

Burk, poor mama and poor Tayva....hugs to both of you. I know how u feel. little B was refusing to eat this weekend I was in tears, I can see he is hungry but every time he sees the bottle he''ll start to cry and kick his legs.

I called his ped. and she don''t think it''s reflux. She said it might be gas or thrush but I don''t see anything in his mouth so I don''t know...

I hope Tayva will get better soon. You hang in there, it''s not your fault, don''t feel that way. btw, Tayva looks so cute eating cereal....

burk--those pics of Tayva are priceless...too cute..

bobo- I hope you can figure out whats wrong with little B..

Burk: Tayva is so cute! Love those spitup pictures, they are going to be priceless when she is 16 and dating.

So I asked for it ladies and boy did I get it. So this afternoon the nurse from my Dr.''s office called to get my history, apparently I said the magic word (btw it was cramps) and all of a sudden I had to go in for a beta test this evening, and tomorrow I have an appt with a NP to get an ultrasound I think. Crazy huh? I even made sure to clarify that they weren''t bad cramps at all, just "stretching" types of cramps, and that they didn''t last long, and weren''t super painful, but apparently that is the code word for ULTRASOUND in my Dr''s office. They must have just had a big ectopic pregnancy scare or something...

So anyway, I guess I will finally have the information I desire about whether there is a heartbeat tomorrow and whether my HCG levels are good. Cross your fingers for me!

I''m crossing my fingers for you Neatfreak.

Neatfreak, fingers are crossed!

Burk, Tayva is just gorgeous
30.gif
She''s just got the most perfect little features! So glad the appt. went well. I hope the Neocate works for Tayva -- and that your insurance will cover it!! If not, seriously ask ask ask for samples from your doctor and hopefully they''ll hook you up. I''ve also seen people selling it on Craig''s List for really good prices, so it may be worth looking there if you need to pay for it. The Neocate stinks SO bad but hey, if it works, then it''s worth its weight in gold!

Bobo, ohhh, I hope little B starts feeling better soon. Did you ever switch doctors or were you waiting for your insurance to switch (I think that was the sitaution, right?)?

Jas, our pack and play isn''t special for twins (though they do make some with two bassinets for twins, this isn''t one) - it''s just a super-cool one
21.gif
Seriously, I LOVE this thing. The babies lived in it (literally) for like the first six weeks, and we still use it constantly. Plus I just think it''s pretty cool looking. I think this style may be a BRU exclusive?

Tacori, a big YAY for li''l T STTN!! Don''t you feel like your life has miraculously returned to normal all of a sudden?? It''s awesome. Have faith, TGal, Jas, and Lili (and you too MrsS, but I know you''ve already been through this so you know) -- it WILL get better!!

Jackie, did you ever get your MaxiMom carrier? I though of you the other day because we took the babies for a walk around Walden Pond, and I used my Moby (which I now love to use) which actually has a way to carry twins and it just looks SO hard in the pic in the manual. I can''t wait to see if you use the MaxiMom -- and if you do, you will officially be Wonder Woman to me!

Neatfreak, good luck tomorrow!!!!

TGal, "Makes me laugh when people say it and then I get nervous that Amelia will make them a liar and chuck a fruity right there!" made me laugh out loud! She looks way too sweet to ever "chuck a fruity"
21.gif
So I assume you are calling her "Ameh-lia" the way you wanted to, right? Do people get the pronounciation right? Are you correcting everyone if they get it wrong? I mentioned before how often I get "Gabrielle" for Gabe, and it makes me cooookooooo.

MrsM and MrsS''s sister, sending along baby vibes!!!

Hi guys -- very quick b/c I''m pooped...

LOVE all the pictures. You mamas should be so proud. My heart goes thump thump thump every time I see these little ones.

My dr. appt was ok...bad news is that the "external" end of my cervix (the one closest to the birth canal) is dialated a fingertip, but the internal end is still closed...dr. is a little concerned. I am now on not-so-optional 4-6 hours a day bedrest (horizontal). I picture myself on a barge, carted around by 4 strapping half-nekkid men.

On the positive side, I get monthly U/S, next one in two weeks or so.

I don''t think this counts completely as an incompetent cervix...I think it''s partially competent
3.gif

At least nurse Dingaling didn''t sing the praises of my urine sample this time. She was much more in control of herself (although I must say my sample was stellar)
16.gif

Dh is going through a bout of depression (he cycles) so I gotta run.

We''re off to NYC for a few days starting Wednesday...I''m so happy to be getting out (a little)!

Thanks MrsS!

ellaila, we don''t get to see the new ped until June so in the mean time we''re stuck with his old ped.

Drive by...

Thank you to everyone for the sympathy on the ms. Sorry about the pity party-I''m a bit more rational today!

NF, hope your u''sound is reassuring-I had sort of stretchy cramping too-my doc thought it could be the corpus luteum or round ligament pain.

Jackie sorry to hear about the bed rest. Love the idea of a bower carried by good looking men!

Jas, cute photos-your shower looks like so much fun. Love the chocolate lollipops-what a great idea! You look great!

Jen, fingers crossed for the b/g combo for you! I agree, if we had twins it would be great to have one of each!

Cute photos of Tayva, Jake and Ian! I hope Tayva and Little B are feeling better soon.

Yay on Tessa sleeping through! You go baby girl!!

I''m telling my boss tomorrow. I feel bad because so many people at work already know-every shift I''ve been on there''s be a case needing Xray and I can''t do it, so people definitely know. Plus the ms has been a bit harder to hide in the last week. Fingers crossed-everyone says that he is really understanding!

Burk, Oh those photos of Tayva are priceless. What perfect little features she has...

I hope the new formula works! I was happy just to hear that they may have figured it out...

Bobo, your poor little B. June can''t come fast enough, eh?

neatfreak, wow...you said the magic word eh? I hope the best for you and that all will be good and you can breathe a big sigh of relief!

ella, which pack and play do you have? And trust me, Amelia can chuck fruities just fine! It''s amazing how their screams just get louder and louder! I find most people call her AMEE-lia. Argh. Oh well, I knew that would happen. But after I correct them, (which I do), they seem to be good to call her AMEHlia.

Jackie, I''ll keep my fingers crossed for you that you will be able to keep those buns cooking as long as possible. Rest up girl!

Gemma, how''s the weather in Oz?
2.gif
Good luck telling your boss tomorrow...

Well, AMEHlia, went down at 8:45 this evening. I am slowly inching her bedtime earlier and earlier...with the final destination being somewhere between 6-7pm. I noticed she is napping soundly at 6pm and we have to wake her for her bottle and bedtime so I am wondering if it might be worth it to try to put her down then. However I don''t want to mess with a good thing right now so we are keeping it as such.

How sad...my life is all about her sleep right now. Hehe. OK, it''s not ALL about her sleep but boy it feels like it. In other (exasperating) news, Amelia physical therapy is going well...so well in fact that she no longer looks to the right like she was doing before...now she ONLY looks to the left and I can''t crank her back the other way.
29.gif
This child is going to drive me insane. At least she sleeps well. Hmph.

Tgal: Hee.

C''mon, we''re heading into winter here....warmer than London, okay?
2.gif

I''ve just come off nights so it''s good sleepin'' weather. Up to 65F today
3.gif

That is so funny about the pronunciation because I''ve always pronounced her name Ameh-leeah in my head. Is that right?

Yup, you''ve got it right...but I have yet to meet an Aussie who has gotten it wrong. Goes with the accent, I think!

Thinking about you, Neatfreak. Hope all is well.

Thank you all for the good wishes and labour dust! My appointment went well, baby is head down and ready to go, so it''s just a waiting game now. MrsS, how''s your sister? Hope she goes soon!

Today''s my due date, so I think statistically I''m quite unlikely to see any action today, right? I''ve made plans for lunch though, so you never know! lol

DH has taken the rest of the week off work, because nothing I can say will convince him that I probably won''t go into labour today (or that he''d have time to make the 40min journey from his office if I did). Bless. He''s set up for home working after the baby arrives and is showing no signs of wanting to return to work ever. He''s also cleaning the house right now - is this nesting??

I''ll let you know if anything happens!

Jen

Jas12: love the pics!! u look great mommy!

Tacori: Yay for the good nite sleeps! i guess Tessa is rewarding u for the initial sleepless nites!! hope it lasts :)

Burk: I hope Tayva feels better and the new doc is good! please do keep us posted!

MrsM: wishing u luck! not much left and ull hold ur baby in ur arms

MrsS: love the pic!! i used the miracle blanket too and he slept much better thru the nite with it (like u, i dont use it for all his sleeps/naps)

Neatfreak: Good luck!

Thanks for the nice wishes all.

Ella -- yup, we got the maximom. It looks like something to go spelunking in, which may happen
3.gif
I''ll take some pictures when Logan and Jackson arrive.

MrsMitchell -- I am so excited for you! I think your husband sounds adorable!

Neatfreak, hope all is well.

TGal, our pack and play is Graco and the style is Deco . We''ve gotten tons of compliments on it because it''s pretty funky and actually works with our living room! We''ve gotten more than our money''s worth out of this thing, for sure. The only thing that annoys me is that the velcro that holds up the diaper-holdin'' pouch always falls down, so the thing hangs lopsided and diapers keep spilling out. Grrr. Q has superglued it, but it still happens.

MrsM, thinking of you today!

My Mother''s Day present arrived yesterday -- I *heart* it!! It''s so delicate looking, and I of course love it for what it stands for! Here''s a photo:

k&g_charms.JPG

TGAL--I ve been pronouncing Amelia''s name wrong all along--i must of missed that post when you mentioned how you would like it--i luv both ways actually so now that i know i am correcting myself.
I have to spell Cohen''s name for ppl all the time--my grandparents hate the name ( i am guessing b/c it is a jewish surname and they are born and raised in italy so they think everything should have a ''little italy'' feel or something --who knows) funny how so much attention is paid to kid''s names in the first few weeks of life.
Re: sleep--Co was going down around 11 or 12 when he was first born--i slowly worked up to his current 8:30 bed time--this week his pattern has been to sleep till 1:30-2ish, then 5:30 ish and then he always seems to wake again around 7am so i give him a quick feed and he goes down till 10am or 11. I like this late sleepin cuz then i can have breekie, shower, PS etc for a little while--but i am slowly going to move him up to 7 as well.
I wish he could nap like amelia--how sweet to watch a movie with her on your chest!

Ella--i have yet to use my pack and play, mostly b/c i am upstairs all the time and it is in my living room--i know i''ll use it in the summer at the cottage.
As for sleep--i keep telling myself it will get better and i am starting to believe it

Tavori--i fogot to say to congrats on the posts and the gift from PS--how cool! I can''t wait to see your goodies

I am anxious to hear from MrsM and the birth of her babe.--soon!

I weighed co on a produce scale at my family''s restaurant--he''s hovering at the 11 lb mark--his birth weight was 8.8, i have no idea if he''s on track or not, but he''s happy so i am assuming he is. He has a check up on thrusday.

MSB, Jas & Ella - thanks! I''m jumping at every little twinge, but nothing doing so far!
2.gif

I''m dying to meet this baby!

Hi All - I''m just popping my little head in to say CONGRATS to you all on your beautiful new bundles
2.gif

I''ve been away (from PS and computers) for a while, and I''m just catching up now.

MASSIVE CONGRATS TO YOU ALL!!!!

Ella--that is sooo pretty!

Thanks everyone on the nighttime congrats! Just goes to show there is HOPE at the end of all of these. She was the *worst* sleeper at first.

Ella, love the necklace! We need a neck shot.

Laine, I got a really cute box at HomeGoods (in the children''s section) and made my version of the first week survival kit. My mom convinced me how perfect the box was b/c she can use it in the nursery that I went back and bout 8 more in different colors. It included:
A bottle of wine, lindt chocolate, ear plugs (no point for you BOTH to be up), A copy of our sleep sounds CD (white noise is AMAZING), soothie pacis, waffle blankets for swaddling, lanlolin (she is going to nurse), nurse pads (I wore them for 6 months!), soothie gel pads (for soreness. They are hard to find, pricey but WORTH it), a small thing of wipes and my left over newborn diapers. Basically all he stuff you *really* need
2.gif

BFing NEWS....T is weened. After her first long sleep and 15 hours since her last bottle I tried to nurse (thinking oh she will nurse like a champ) well she still refused and I am tired of fighting with her. So I went 6.5 months. Life is easier but my boobs are still sore. They hurt more now than the first few days. I just hope I don''t get a clog.

Tacori~When I weened, I pumped a little to relieve the pain...I just kept going longer and longer between pumps and pumped less and less. It made it pretty much pain free because those things can feel like they''re going to explode if you don''t empty them!! Kind of a PITA, but worth it and it only took me a few days. Just a thought...

Thanks everyone who complimented Ms. Tayva and her attempt at eating cereal. It was pretty funny. DH was snapping pics like crazy.

Bobo~Hope Little B feels better soon! I feel your pain!

Ella~Love the necklace!! My doc is going to get some more samples and I''ve also been browsing Ebay....hopefully insurance covers so I don''t have to worry!

Neatfreak~Good luck at your appt. I''m sure everything will be fine!

Be back later......

Wow Tacori...WELL DONE!!! Congratulations on 6.5 months...a half month past your goal! After all you went through I am very proud of you.
36.gif

Speaking of BFing, Amelia doesn't care for the nipple much these days either although she will still do it. I am pumping every day and am now triple what I started with...to the point I can give her a bottle with only breastmilk at least once a day. I have the pump rented through June 3, so I think I will stop all this then. Considering that I had nothing to begin with, I'm pleased myself that I was able to work to get something for her for 2 months...but she is thriving on formula so I am happy to just go to all formula too. My poor little boobies are going to be little flapjacks when I am done because I am literally WRINGING the milk out during pumping. Squeeze squeeze squeeze.

Ella, beautiful MD gift! And cool pack and play. Mine is a hand me down and is just the basic pen.

Jas, Amelia HATED being on my chest and on her tummy for weeks. Then all of the sudden last week she loved it. I started burping her over my shoulder a little while ago (I had been sitting her on my my lap for burps before but it doesn't work well) and then she'd just sit there and slowly slide down, ending up on my chest happy as a clam.

Amelia followed the same pattern as Co last night. I put her down at 8:45 hoping that she'd go until 3. No such luck...little bugger followed the pattern she's been doing, but at the BARE minimum. Exactly 5 hours later at 1:45 she was up. Then I put her down at 2 after a feed and she was up at 5 am. Hmph. I'll try again tonight after we have a little *chat*. Hehehe. Seriously, I am happy she is doing so well. She's even down for her morning nap now.

Burk, let us know how the new formula goes!

Well...off to pump. Moo.

NF, hope your appointment goes well today! Keep us posted!

Ella, what a pretty necklace!

JackieJas, I''m sorry about the bed rest and I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

Jas12, love the pictures from your shower! Looks like you had a lot of fun!

MrsM, lots of labor vibes to you! Good luck! It won''t be long until you get to hold your baby!

Tacori, that''s great that Tessa is sleeping well and is weaned. Congrats on meeting your goal!

TGal, Jas12, MrsS, Burk, Ella, msflutter, lili, love all of the pictures! Your babies are so adorable!
