Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

NF, I TOTALLY see the mountain goat!!! Hahahhaa!!

Pretty sure you've got frats there b/c they're in two sacs. I think it's possible to still have IDs in two sacs (depends on when the egg split) but it's not very common.

And wow, you're one day off from what my EDD was -- I had Jan 2 as 40 weeks and had my guys on Dec. 5 at 36 weeks exactly.

THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How weird Ella! I think your assessment is right on the money from the info I have been devouring today. I'd love me a set of boy/girl twins so fraternal would be just fine with me. And luckily our insurance is amazing, so even if I do deliver early or we need a stay in the NICU, everything should be covered.

Although convenience wise it would be better for those babes to be after Dec. 20 (I'm still working on a Ph.D...ugh!), but I'll take what I can get!

Hubby is now dancing around the house saying ''I shot, I scored, TWICE!''.
OMG, that is THE funniest thing I''ve read all week! Boys!

NF, congrats! What a wonderful surprise!

thats so interesting Neatfreak- Did you say you ovulated around the 14th? Do you remember? When I was at the drs I was only given a date of being 6 weeks 2 days(that was on Friday) I think that was based on the u/s? or maybe my ovulation date too- But remember when we were far apart on the positive hpts? I wonder if that is why your babies are further along than mine? I am such a worrywart- Anyhoo I can''t wait until the next u/s next week. I think it will make me feel better and hopefully I will be able to see more. We need a babydoctor on this site so we can ask questions directly, lol.

Neatfreak...congrats on the TWINS!! that is just wonderful news!!

tacori- 6.5 months is wonderful. My goal is 6 months with Jake. I went almost a year with my girls but mentally just cannot even think about going that long. i''ll be happy if I make it the 6 months.

so for those of you following my sister''s story. She is 5 days overdue today. I went went with her to the dr. today (we have the same OB) and she''s 75-85% effaced and dilated to 2cm. They put her on a fetal monitar for 20 minutes and baby is doing great, but not labor signs at all. She''s got another ultrasound scheduled for friday where they check the level of amniotic fluid, the baby''s lungs etc. and then they will go from there. The dr. ok''d an induction for early next week but the hospital is full and so she''s on a waiting list for tuesday. We all just can''t wait for her little girl to get here!!

That is weird pave, but I am sure it doesn''t mean anything. My egg probably just got fertilized right away and maybe yours laid in wait for a few days? Lol. I have no idea. I am sure it doesn''t mean anything and if you get a good u/s tech next week they will surely be able to tell you more.

I probably got an early HPT because with twins I have MUCH more HCG running around my system. That''s actually what promoted the slightly freaked out ultrasound today, because they had me come in for a beta yesterday and today they saw the numbers were WAY higher than they should have been. So they were worried about a molar pregnancy, or something like that. But luckily the twins explained it! It is a relief though to see (and HEAR in our case!) those little heartbeats.

thanks pave- i know i know- I shouldn''t worry. And I bet you are right that it doesn''t mean anything- My dr. was happy with the u/s and i gave her the dates of my lh surge and so I think she put my ovulation at the 14th. She is a pretty straight up dr. from my experiences in the past so I should trust that. Thanks for your reassurance.
So have you guys started thinking about the names yet? I guess you need to figure out boy/girl first but still it''s fun to think about it. I haven''t really gone down that road yet at all. I have been to target a couple of times and ogled the baby clothes/stuff. HOly smokes you are gonna need two of lots of things- i bet your friends are going to give you a great shower that will help out. What fun!!!!

Thanks ellaila & Burk! can you tell he is loving his fruits and chicken leg.

neatfreak, your DH is so funny, love the ultrasound photo.

I would sure love me a set of boy / girl twins too. I hope it happens to meeee toooooo!

Get it alll over with in one go.

Lol. That is totally my thought too!!! So far I am not loving being pregnant, so that sure isn''t a bad thing from my perspective!

OMG! Congrats Neatfreak! Man, if I ever DO go for seconds, I am STAYING AWAY FROM THIS THREAD! There is something in the water here! What are the freakin'' odds of 4 twin sets in a year??

And LOL...I totally see the mountain goat too! Freaky!

Bobo, re: breastfeeding...Bobo is obviously such a cutie and fine on formula! I just am stubborn...Amelia doesn''t have the patience much either anymore...but my patience outlasts hers. HA!

I always thought I would want a boy and a girl and "get it over with too." Now that I have a singleton, I''m thinking...uh, no thanks. You twin mommies are superheroes. I''m barely managing with one!!!

MrsS, I''ll do the L&D dance for your sister and MrsM. Maybe I should bake a choc cake and waft fumes your way?
3.gif

So this kid is trying to kill me. Yesterday I tried to take her out of her bassinet and I heard an audible *pop*. Totally threw out my back. I''m lucky I didn''t drop her...she was only 6 inches off the bassinet so I was able to place her back down quickly before I crumpled over in pain. I had her PT appointment in 15 minutes and pretty much crawled her over there in her BOB. Today I am keeping her downstairs for naps and am on my knees walking around so if I drop her, it''s not that far to the ground! I thought...man, the joys of being an OLDER mom...but I remembered my back was actually worse and went out all the time in my twenties.
39.gif
Amelia''s probably wondering she''s only traveling at 3 foot altitude today....

Oh my gosh!!!! NEAFREAK!!!!! I am so excited for you!

I can''t believe you''re having twins...what a shocker!!

Tell us about how you broke the news to your parents/what they said, ect.

You must be over the moon right now!

So I'm reading through 2 pages of posts and giggling a lot (lots of amusing posts today....anyway.....) and planning on responding to a bunch of people and catching up... which i still intend to do (seriously!) but for now ---

Neatfreak -- CONGRATS!! Welcome to the twins club!! I think it's really amazing they're all spontaneous twins for us! Regarding frats or id's, the odds are in your favor that they are frats (70 to 80%), but they could be id's that split early. I spent a LOT of time on twinstuff looking up previous posts about this b/c mine clearly have 2 sacs and 2 placents.... the good news is that this is the best-case scenario for them!! I too have had a rough pregnancy so far (my other 3 were NOTHING like this) but i attribute that entirely to there being 2 babies in me. Not sure if i'd want a replay of this pg in the future, but then again, i'm DONE after these LO's arrive :) Ella has been great and Jackie's always cracking me up -- it's just so nice to get to "know" other twin moms/moms-to-be... anyway, congrats again! I'm really excited for you (and your proud hubby

Well that sucks big time, TGal
14.gif
What can you do to make your back feel better??

BTW, love love love exersaucers and jumperoos. Look at all this time I have now that the babies are using these things all the time! Did I mention how funny it is how different the babies are in their likes/dislikes? Gabe is Mr. Studious: loves to look at books, flip the pages, do all the flap-lifting/touching, etc. Katelyn on the other hand gets very easily distracted while we''re reading and she doesn''t really pay too much attention. Gabe *loves* the exersaucer -- it''s very simple, no bells and whistles. Just things to grab, spin, a floating duck to look at. But he stares at everything in it and plays with it all. Very curious as to how everything works. Katelyn on the other hand uses the exersaucer as a cool recliner
10.gif
But put that girl in the jumperoo and she goes NUTS! Screaming like a maniac, boucning all over the place!! Whereas Gabe likes the jumperoo but he''s also been known to fall asleep in it (yes, that''s right. the poor kid looks so uncomfortable when he does that!). So G = more serious genius, and K = fun-lovin'' party girl! Why do I think I''m going to have my hands full once girly girl discovers boys?
20.gif

NEATFREAK!!! OMG...SOOOO excited for you! congratulations!!
you must be over the moon!!!

quick question for everyone...
did any of you get one of the maternity/pregnancy pillows to help you sleep? dh offered to get me one but wants to know which one is best. he says it''s my birthday present (turning thirty...and i get a PILLOW?!?!) :) well, we''re also going to hawaii so i can''t complain!!!
any experience??

also...out of the blue, today dh says, "i''ve been thinking and i''ve decided that if you want to find out the sex, i think we should." huh??!?!! this is after i''ve spent the past 3 weeks convincing myself that a surprise is going to be so much fun! arrrgh...now i don''t know what to do!!

TGal -- oh suck, I''m sorry about your back! I SOOOOOOO relate to this as I have persistent back issues that started up when I was pregnant the first time (NOT from skating, oddly enough)... i was sitting down painting when it happened and couldn''t get up and totally freaked out. Now i get little signs of it acting up and don''t puch it... I''ve done the crawling around-with-baby thing before and IT AIN''T FUN! I hope you feel better soon and that Amelia cooperates while you''re outta whack
14.gif
2.gif

Burk -- heeheee -- love the news pics! I really am crossing fingers that the formula change does the trick!

Bobo -- hope little B feels better soon...

Gemma -- how''d it go with the boss??

Ella -- oh, the necklace is wonderful -- I''m a big sucker for the sentimental and it''s just perfect :)

MrsS -- sending your sis some labor-vibes!

Jackie -- enjoy your little getaway! I hate that your cervix isn''t entirely cooperating (partially *is* a good way of thinking about it
1.gif
-- like a glass-half-full kinda thing...) Did you ever mention why you were already on partial horizontal bedrest? I''m terrified of ending up on *full* bedrest as i''m sure you are, so i''m just curious if it was precautionary?

MrsM -- ok, your hubby''s nesting cracked me up. Seems like the rest of the PS hubbies act so cute (mine NOT included)...i hope you meet your little one soon!

Tacori -- that DOES sound like the perfect shower gift.... wanna come to mine?
2.gif
Congrats on 6.5 months, BTW... that''s excellent! (And be grateful she weaned easily! -- nothing worse than a 2-yr-old-kling-on when you are DONE with it!!)

Did I mention to you guys that the street I live on *makes* twins?? Seriously weird stuff --- we moved here last October and I found out AFTER I found out i was preggo with twins that there are 4 OTHER sets of twins on our street!! It wouldn''t be so weird (maybe) if it were bigger, but we live on a small dead-end street
23.gif
The lady with the youngest set (almost 1-yr-old twin girls) came over to meet me b/c she couldn''t believe it when my son told her i was pg with twins... and she and her mom had just had a conversation about needing to tell anyone that moves in here about the twin-thing. Just had to share that -- it''s even more ridiculous than 4 sets of PS twins (which, face it, is really against the odds!) BBL!

Neatfreak, congrats! That is so crazy.

Ella, T loves "It''s Not Easy Being a Bunny." She finds it very funny. The boxes are cute. They have a lid so no gift wrap which is a plus for me. I got all different kinds. Some have dots, some stripes, one is blue with white stars, a few have patterns. And they have bows. They are cute and cheap at $12.99 (I priced these things everywhere) and the stuff fit perfectly. If I think of it I will take a picture. Plus she can use it as a storage box after. It would be cute to keep all the cards and mementos.

Burk, I really thought it wouldn''t be a big deal since I was down to only 2 feedings a day. Lately she would hardly nurse at all (play with me, talk, grab my hair, stare at the cats) but I guess there was more than I thought. It''s been 4 days so I don''t really want to pump now. Funny pics! My mom gave T applesauce today and she LOVED it. She looked surprised and very happy.

TGal, you know I am stubborn. There was no way I was going to quit RIGHT at 6 months
2.gif
I had to stretch it a bit. My milk supply never really recovered after Mexico. Someone told me girls are harder to BF than boys. Not sure if that is true though. Thank you. I am proud of you too!

Snlee, it was a rough, painful road but I am glad I did it.

Jas12, I hate pumping so much I rather be uncomfortable. BTW make sure you don''t give Co cows milk until 1 year. Have you tied "soothies"? They are magical and really helped when I was so sore. It does get better tough.

Laine, sure steal it! If she is a good friend you could add in pads and tucks pads but maybe I would give them to her in private....depends. I personally wouldn''t be embarrassed. I have no idea how much I spent. I would guess $50-$60. Thanks. I want to change it but I love that photo so much.

Bobo, I had to use a shield the whole time (for latch issues). PITA but it worked. Little B is so cute.

MrsS, thanks! I am glad I could do it for as long as I did. Your poor sister. Been there! Hopefully she goes soon.

LIA, I never had one of those pillows.

Jen, I am sure there were a few "huhs?" when she opened it but I am practical and it is stuff she will use. That is crazy there are so many twins on your street. My neighbor has twins and she always looks so tired. I can only handle one at a time so like TGal I hope it isn't in the PS water.

MrsM, how are you doing today?!?!

NF, what a great u/s picture! I love the names your DH gave them. I totally see an otter and mountain goat! LOL

NF,
Twins, wow, that''s sooooo exciting. Your DH is too funny. Congats!!!

Thanks all. It is so great to be able to share this news with you guys! We''ve only told our parents and VERY few friends about the pregnancy and only our parents about the twins. We''re both sitting here doing research on it and are still both shell shocked.

Jas: We''ll have to have a twin playdate in Chicago sometime assuming all goes well, I''m in Madison!
Congrats Neatfreak! I lurk on this board, getting so excited for all you girls, and I had to de-lurk to say congrats!! Twins! So incredible!

TGal, sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better soon.

LIA, I haven't gotten a pregnancy pillow yet. I don't want to get a full body pillow because it'll take up too much room in our queen bed. My DH already complains I hog the bed so I'm sure he wouldn't be happy if I had a huge pillow beside me as well. I plan to get Boppy Pregnancy Wedge Pillow soon. I've read some great reviews about it.

My u/s is in 10 days and we cannot wait! The closer it gets the slower the days seem to go by. I am so excited to find out! I have been having girl baby dreams often and my DH thinks we're having a boy. Well, one of us will be right! I have my 18 week appointment this Friday so at least I'll get to hear the heartbeat, which is always wonderful. And I think I've started feeling baby movements! I've felt a fluttering low in the belly during the last two days. Today it's happening more frequently so I'm pretty sure it's the baby. The flutters are much stronger than the taps I have been feeling or imagining since they are too high to be the baby. Very exciting!!!

Thanks gals...I''m hurting but fightin'' through it!

For those of you with book suggestions, would you mind posting it in the "finds" thread? That way we can go back to them when it comes to buy our babies books!

Jen, too funny about your street "making" twins -- Q's work is like that too! Whenever the babies and I go to visit Daddy, I'm stopped by literally at least four people each time (that is, four different people at each visit) who tell me they also have twins. It's bizarre! And there's one guy there who's got TWO sets of twins (and a singleton)!! His company could have its own very popular Multiples Group.

To those of you suffering with m/s, I remembered something today that makes me feel better when I get nauseous/queasy. DAIRY QUEEN! I got an iced coffee with my lunch today and they clearly gave me caffeinated instead of decaf, and since I've been doing decaf for over a year now, the caffeine made me feel totally nauseous and carsick/hungover feeling. And the only cure for me when I feel that way is some good ole DQ vanilla. In a pinch, McDonald's ice cream works, too, but I don't think any other soft serve would cut it. DQ and McD's have a different texture to them that I find really soothing and nausea-reducing. Plus the cold always helps when you feel icky, I think. Just throwing it out there as a suggestion!

NF, has the shock worn off yet?
2.gif

I have a question about gliders - who has one and do you use it often? Is it worth buying? Our 2nd bedroom is small but I could make room for it if it''s something I''ll use often. BRU has 20% of gliders right now and soon I''ll have an additional 15% off coupon so I''m trying to decide if it''s worth spending $350 on it. Thoughts?

Q, we put together out flair high chair and it is SO cool looking. I promise I will post a pic of T in it (she is sleeping now). Anyways....exciting find...I went online to register it and you can buy different color pads...they have an orange one! I thought of you b/c this would be a much cheaper way to get a very similar looking high chair. The pad it comes with is white (you can buy another for $29.99) and you use it until they are toddlers. Just thought you would like to know!

WOW, a twin boom--what are the chances--Congrats neatfreak!
I am with Tgal--i can barely cope with one, so twin momsies are something extra special.

Tgal--ouch! Get yourself to physio you poor thing, and treat yourself to a massage.

LIA--i had a snoogle pregnancy pillow and it was by far one of the biggest ''must haves'' i used it every night--i had trouble sleeping from the 5th month on and it was a lifesaver

Tacori--i hate pumping too so hopefully you aren''t in pain too long--i have to get some soothies and try that. And nope, won''t be giving Co cow''s milk, i''ve never had a glass of milk in my life, other than some dark chocolate, i don''t eat dairy and i don''t think i''ll give much of it to my kids, too many allergies in my family.

Jas12, not sure where you can buy them in Canada but here is their website. I use the gel pads. They last 2 weeks. Put them in the fridge for extra relief! Next time I am bringing a pair to the hospital!

snlee, we use out glider all the time. It is a great place to nurse (well WAS!) bottle feed, read....Mine was more than $350
23.gif
so I think that's a great deal if you like one. We'll use it for future kids too. Mine looks like a chair.

Lol. No it hasn''t. Probably won''t for 18 years right? But it has slowly been transitioning to excitement throughout the day...

DQ is a great idea. Sounds good right about now...
