Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Mornin gasl

The Hubby stories were crackin me up--i had a moment that that with Charlie--totally snapped on him when he let Cohen wail for a 1/2 hour when i was at the gym and he got hungry (there was pumped milk in the fridge)--he is the most wonderful husband, but that was truly a stupid moment. I think they all have em and mixed with some sleep deprivation, well, watch out guys!

Diver--luvin the watch, smooth move with the email--i need to remember that one ;-)
sorry to hear about D''s diaper rash--i remember a few babies that got it real bad at the daycare i worked at (i remember the screaming while changing them all too well, terrible) this is what we would do once it was under control:
a) switch to 100% unscented diapers
b) never, ever use baby wipes--just soft cotton cloths with warm water
c) pat the diaper area dry once cleaned with water
d) apply desitin (or whatever product)
e) air-dry the area a few times a week
For Cohen, i bought a wipes-warmer and dozens of cotton face cloths--i wet them and put a stack in the warmer each morning for changes. It produced more laundry but it''s gentle on the bum.

LC--i will be a juice and milk nazi--my cousins teeth rotted from juice bottles and there is just no need for extra sugar...i also don''t think cow''s milk is a healthy drink (i know many will disagree) so i am avoiding them. I am hoping my kids will drink the ''green juice'' i am currently sipping on --i juice kale, brocolli, celery, lettuce, apple and lemon each morning--it looks like algae water but is so high in calcium and vitamins hopefully i can get Cohen onto it.

Curly-- totally just my opinion, but if you had a great spontaneous labor with lili i would go natural, you''ll probably have an even easier time for the second (or so ppl say), if the pictocin ended in a c-section i think the recovery from that would be more of a PITA than the extra planning for Lili??? Not that it would necessarily end that way, but just a thought to consider.

Jen--Twin girls!! Yay!!! so neat! Sorry your Dh didn''t get his boy, but he''ll adore and spoil those little girls for sure.

MrsS. Your niece is just beautiful!

........

Cohen had his 6 week check-up yesterday, he is just about 11 lbs. He has a terrible case of cradle cap now after just getting rid of his baby acne--poor guy, it looks so itchy although i read it isn''t. I tried olive oil for a while but now i''ve switched to mineral oil so i hope it works

He still sleeps well at night but day time naps are a lost cause. Yesterday he had 2 20 min naps and that was after i tried and tried all day to get him down. He''s miserable by 7pm so i start to get him prepped for bed and he normally zonks out, but sometimes he''s over tired and will stay up well past 9. I don''t get it.

Q for moms:

When did u move your baby to their own room?

Currently Co is in his co-sleeper, i don''t feel ready to have him in another room yet and i really like how i can just reach over in the dark, pick him up and feed him without even leaving bed. However, i don''t want him to get used to being so close so i am wondering if i should make the transition before he''s more aware of his surroundings...thoughts??

My friend is an end-stage grad student and has a 3-mo old. She anticipated getting back to part-time writing after 1 month, and was very very frustrated that nothing at all got done for about 2 months, putting her behind schedule for graduation. Similarly, she was just trying to get some part time writing done at home and into work 1-2x per week briefly for meetings and to see people. Even though her husband is also a grad student and could watch the little one, breastfeeding seemed to render him less useful and only in this last month has she been able to get anything work related done. So she says plan on getting nothing accomplished for the first two months, though I presume it will depend somewhat on the child.

I was actually thinking 2-3 months, so her 2 month thing is pretty on point with the earlier side of what I''ve been thinking. Thanks Cara!

Neatfreak - OMG - Twins! That is great! Congrats!

We have two sickies on here - (((hugs))) little ones and mommies.

Tacori - I love your new avatar - Tessa is really cute. Better keep the boys away from her!

Snlee - I think you''re having BH''s. I get them too. They don''t hurt - just make me uncomfortable for a minute and then go away. I find that I get them most when I''ve been doing a lot of activity (like walking). Resting helps. You baby''s movements will start getting stronger and stronger. It''s sooo neat to feel. I LOVE it!

I forget who asked - but I am taking 8 weeks off of work after the birth. I don''t plan on taking any time off before, but my boss is flexible and basically if I feel I need to then I will and he''s okay with that. We have a temp set up already for when I''m on leave so that takes a load off of me. If I have a c-section I''ll probably take between 10-12 weeks for recovery before going back to work. I really wish either I could go without working (or my hubby) but it''s not possible financially. My mom may quit her job before I go back to work and provide (free) childcare or she will pay for childcare since it''s so expensive. We''re really lucky because we have a lot of family willing to help us out.

I''ve been beyond emotional lately. I cried last night because I wanted a bowl of cereal and we only had enough milk for us to have some this a.m. Hubby offered to run to the store but I tearfully told him not to and went to bed. That''s really out of my character. I''ve had some other incidents lately but not as silly as that.

I think the baby is going through a growth spurt because I''ve been starving lately. I feel like I''m eating a lot of food all the time. I''m also have some major stretching pains lately. Hubby measured around the biggest part of my belly and it''s 38 inches!
6.gif
I need to post some belly pics - I look comical and have 9 more weeks to go

Bobo, thanks!

snlee, thank you! I had really bad BHs. At first they felt just like tighten but as I got closer to my EDD they would be painful sometimes. How exciting that you have been feeling movement!
36.gif

NF, I agree take as much time as you can. I cannot even IMAGINE adjusting with twins. I would think 12 weeks would be good.

TGal, My pedi said the only time water was really good was when it is really hot for hydration. Since at the time she was underweight he wanted milk/formula instead so I never really tried to give it to her (after the first time I tried b/c I was curious) I am glad you are getting a new mattress for little A. She deserves it and it will make you feel better. One of the BEST things about T being 6 months is SIDS never happens after that. It is a relief indeed. Mine is not foam. Not sure the brand though. It is the kind that is two sided. A harder side for baby, a softer side for toddler.

Jas12, hope Co''s cradle cap gets better. I tried baby oil BIG mistake. She looked like a greaser! It took 5 shampoos to get her hair clean again. We moved T into her room on her 4 month b-day. We all slept better that night
1.gif
It was not a tough transition for her AT ALL.

Diva, don''t I know it! I don''t want any boys peaking in our windows!
2.gif
Don''t worry about being emotional though I think I would cry if my DH OFFERED to go get me milk! Yay Mr Diva! DH would just roll his eyes and tell me to eat something else. I had painful stretching too. PITA for sure!

Hello everyone! This thread''s been a hoppin'' as usual!

Jen~HURRAY!! Congrats on your two girls. I was right..... :)

Curly~WOW Miss Lily is a DOLL!!! Thanks for your support for Tayva''s ordeal. It''s been rough.

Mrss~Your new niece is adorable! I love the bow!

Tgal~we got a foam mattress but I don''t remember the brand....happy mattress shopping! Glad your back is getting better!

Jas~Sorry Co is battling cradle cap. We moved Tayva to her crib at 3 weeks....she is such a loud, fidgety sleeper and we moved her so WE could get sleep. She does great in her crib.

Neatfreak~I went back to work after 10 weeks. It was so hard, but I''m a teacher so starting next week I''ll be home with her again for the summer.
36.gif

Tacori~Great new avatar!!! Please do let me know about your diaper experience this weekend. Have fun!!
9.gif

Diver~Hope Delaney gets to feeling better! And how cute is Jake? He and Lily would make an adorable couple!
9.gif

Update on Tayva: She had hardly eaten in three days so we switched formula AGAIN yesterday afternoon and she has been eating great and been super happy baby since. So, not to jinx it, but we may be on to something. She had her 4 month check-up and she hasn''t gained any weight in a month!!! Doc was very concerned so he didn''t do her shots and we go back in next week and if she hasn''t continue to do well on this formula and gained any weight, he is going to do the blood draw and allergy tests (he feels waiting until June 11 for the allergist is stupid). He is also sending her to occupational speech therapy because her tongue seems to get in the way when she eats and uses her pacifier. So, overall, it was a good day. Finally.
3.gif

Probably missed someone.....sorry. Happy Friday to all!

Burk, I am so glad that your pedi is being proactive. I hope they find answers soon! Give her a hug from me.

Thanks Tacori! Even though she''s not "better" yet I just felt relieved that doc is taking a hard line finally!

Tacori--hehe, i can see the greasy hair being an issure--since Cohen doesn''t have hair that''s not a big concern, but we''ll see how mineral oil goes.
I hope the co-sleeper-crib transition is smooth for us too--luv your new avatar btw :-)

Burk--thankgoodness Tayva is eating now, must be such a relief for you.

Thanks ladies. I guess what I felt was BHs then. My belly felt like it tightened up into a ball, so that must have been my uterus tightening up. I read that it can start as early as 6 weeks but you don''t usually feel them until later on. I never thought I''d feel them this early! It really makes me realize my body isn''t my own anymore and I need to slow down! Not that I have been very active but I haven''t really felt pregnant that much since my belly isn''t that big. Big wake up call!

hi ladies..I think the little bows are so cute. The hospital actually puts them on the heads of all the girl babies. they use some type of glue so even the baldies get little bows
3.gif
jake is definitely turning into a BOY. no questions or mistakes asking how old "she" is..lol. I used to get asked how old is "he" when my girls were in pink dresses
20.gif
.

Jas12- i didn''t move my girls into their own rooms until 6 months. mostly b/c I was lazy and didn''t want to get up and walk to their rooms in the middle of the night to nurse. I think you should do it when you are ready. I''m not ready to move Jake yet. i like being able to peek at him in the night from my bed.

snlee- glad your feeling the baby move. that is really when things do start to become real. I do miss that...

tacori- any idea when your PP is coming? love the new earrings too!! you''re accumulating quite a beautiful collection of jewelry.

Diver- your Jake is soooooo cute. i hope my Jake is half as adorable when he''s bigger.

jas12, love your avatar! he look like he is really enjoying his bath. Hope his cradle cap will go away soon. Little B is 3 months now and in the same room with us but in his own crib. I''m thinking moving him out when he is 4 months, but DH really like us all sleep in one room so I don''t know...we''ll see..

Diva, how sweet of your husband offer to run out and get you milk.

Burk, I''m so happy for you that Tayva is finally eating. What formula did you switched her to? Hope she will continue to do great with the formula and yeah on the ped! Hope he will find out what is going on with Tayva.

Jas, I moved Amelia to her crib just shy of 6 weeks. This was also the time when we got the OK to feed her at night only when she wakes. She did beautifully, though I don''t know at all if the crib helped her sleep so well, or if it was just going to happen. Prior to that she had been sleeping in a bassinet in our living room while I camped out on the couch for 5 weeks. Part of the move was necessity...she was getting kind of big for the bassinet and we have no room in our little apartment bedroom for anything.

As you can see here, I think moving the baby at anytime that feels comfortable for you will be fine. I haven''t heard of any baby having too hard of a transition to their crib, although I am sure they are out there. I like that we did it early though, *just in case* it would have been tougher later. The moving seems to be more of a parental issue than a baby one. I will tell you right now that I DO worry a lot more that she''s in there because she''s approaching the window with the highest incidence of SIDS. But with anything, I just have to not worry myself sick and have faith that she''s going to be OK because we are doing our best.

RE: naps. I just think some babies are better nappers than others. In Amelia''s case, I had noticed naps were a bit harder to come by in that she would wake much more easily (normal as they become more aware of their surrounds) and not go down as easily. So this was the first week that I transitioned all naps to her crib. That really helped for some strange reason. She may not go to sleep right away, but she''ll just lay quietly until she conks out. She seems so young to really know what''s going on, but MAYBE she started not to nap well in the living room because she knew I was around or there was just too much stimulation? I''ve been taking bits and pieces that make sense from Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, and the quiet dark room tip to take a nap has been helpful for us. She naps after about an hour and 20 mins of me playing with her and goes down for at least an hour to an hour and a half in the morning. Afternoon naps are one short one at an hour or so and one longer one at 2 hours.

However one thing I know now for sure is once you *think* you have things figured out, the little buggers switch it around on ya. That seems to be the one SURE thing.

Great tips on diaper rash, btw. I am using pampers swaddlers and kirkland wipes (I was gonna make my own but haven''t gotten around to it...not sure if I will). We have not had a problem yet...think I will be OK?

Diva, hang in there. Hormones suck. I was great throughout my pregnancy but man, I hit a wall at 5 weeks postpartum. I definitely had a mild case of the blues. Or a case of "THIS F*CKING SUCKS!!! I DIDN''T SIGN UP FOR THIS!" (if you can call that the blues). Hehehe.

Tacori, GIRL, go get those pro pics done. Love the new avatar...she''s such an ANGEL! (Although I am sure there are days where''d you''d disagree with that). And yeah, she deserves a new mattress. We haven''t really spent much dough on her yet so I am happy to do so. I didn''t realize that her mattress was dipped in the middle (I checked it out last night). Eek!

Burk, SO glad to hear things are going well. Wow, no weight gain in a month..that''s scary! Keep hanging in there...we gotta be strong for our little ones!

Well, no stroller strides today...my back still shoots with pain in certain movements, so I figure I''d be better safe than sorry since I am on my own at home next week. Also, I feel like I''m making progress with Amelia''s physical therapy! Boy, I hate making her do her exercises because she fights me and seems to hate it, but in the last few days I''ve really stuck with it and she cries less and FINALLY looks at me straight ahead! She''s also switching her head from side to side during sleep when before she favored only one side. Man, life is good when the babies seem better, eh? Simple joys...

Thanks Jas, Bobo, and Tgal! I am just hoping she continues to improve. We've had slight improvement before...praying this is finally it.

Bobo~she's now on Alimentum ready serve. It's one that is pricey because it's supposed to help with milk allergies, but in the ready serve it also has not trace of corn, which they think she is also allergic to. Pray it keeps working.

Tgal~Glad you're taking care of your back!

tacori: love the new avatar :) enjoy the beach!

Driver: sorry D is having such a rough time with the rash

hopefully things will get better...not sure if this is available over in the states, but i use ''sudocream'' for little k and it works like a charm..

curly: ur little girl is so cute!! my guy started walking a week after his 1st bday and now hes gotten the confidence to walk all over the place (sometimes hes just too courageous which can be very scary! hehehe)

MrsS: ur niece is adorable!

Sk8r: yay for the little girls!!

ella: love the necklace...and i can''t believe ur hubby did that!! oh my goodness!! i would have just locked him out of the house for a while...

Burk: so happy to hear that Tayva is doing better!!

Tgal: sorry to hear that ur back still hasnt fully healed

MrsM:....where r u ?...could it be?? r u holding ur little one in ur arms now???

Jas12
Your Co sounds alot like my J when it comes to daytime nap.
She hardly naps in the day time, and when she does, it''s only for less than half an hour.
I''m so jealous of TGal and her Amelia for all the sleep that she''s able to get in.

Her nighttime sleep is not too bad.
Some days, she''ll go 5-6 hours before feeding.
Other days, she''ll wake up 3 hours for a 8 min nurse, which is not too bad.
Most time though, she get woken up by her spitting or gagging.

Jas12
That new avi is so cute.
You''ll have to post it here so it''s bigger to see.

That''s great Burk
Hope this new formula is the one.

I'll be taking 16 wks off.
12 weeks will be partially paid for by the state via the state disability.
The rest will come out of my accumulated sick and vacation days.

Take as much time as you can, but save some vacation and sick days on the book emergencies.
Time really does go by once the baby is here.
It seems like just yesterday when I had the little one.
Now the 6+ wk monster is snoozing away in her swing.

Victory! Co is sleeping in his swing for the first time!! i know it will only be a cat nap, but i''ll take it --i was beginning to think he was the only kid that does not take to the swing!

Tgal--diaper rash can sneak up at any time even for the most attentive mom (as i am sure Diver can attest too) the stuff on wipes is a big cause IMO, but if you don''t have a history of family sensitive skin (allergies etc.) you''ll probably be fine--just keep an eye on it.
wipes warmers are great if you do decide to make your own--that way you don''t have to be near a sink and they are always moist and warm

Lili--the non-nappers are little monsters--Cohen is so grumpy by dinner time and so i am i! I do try to put him down in his co-sleeper, swaddled and lights dimmed, but it''s not working for me. I guess we just have to learn to live with it. Our kiddies sound like they have similar habits for sure (day and night)
--P.S. post some new pics of J!

here is the avatr pic ''large format''--taken about 2 weeks ago at bath time with grams. funny, he can be screaming at the top of his lungs for whatever reason, get him in the bath an presto--happy boy ;-)

Jas12, Co is so adorable in his bath picture! Hooray for him sleeping in his swing!

Jas -- the new avatar is adorable (but i like the big version even better!:)) I took forever to move my boys to their own room, and they did fine. After the co-sleeper i moved them all into bed -- liked the convenience of them close!

TGal -- glad your back's on the upswing...sounds smart to not overdo it. Yeah, I'm glad there was a girl-boom here :)

Burk -- yeah, you *were* right :) I'm crossing my fingers that you found the right formula for Tayva... (((hugs))) to you both from me!

MrsM -- I hope your absence means NEW BABY!! I hope you are doing great!

Tacori -- once again, your new avatar is great!! precious as always :)

Thanks to everyone for the happy girl wishes and congrats! After teaching this morning I had to go buy a couple of girl things b/c I've been waiting to do it for SOOOOOO long

I picked up my pics from the dr, so hopefully I'll get the u/s pics up soon...bbl!

ok, here we go... Baby A at 16 weeks...

baby a 16 wks to post.JPG

Baby B at 16 weeks...

baby b 16 wks to post.JPG

And here's Baby B's "parts" shot... this was the more obvious of the two... Baby A's turned out really grainy so it's hard to really see anything. One thing I like about this pic is that it's a split screen and immediately to the left of the crotch shot is Baby A's foot from another picture

6 months...

jen: congrats!!!! your twins r precious...

jas--cohen is sooooooooooooooo beautiful &thanks4 advice, i already do all that xcept the wipes...butwith this, i''ve been rinsing her bottom w/water instead of wiping and patting dryw/cotton... i change her tons..my kids never sit in wet/dirty pants as a rule.

juice sorta nazi....i dont drink my calories (unless its wine or margaritas)so no juice in my house...but i do allow it sometimes...but jake only cares for lemonade on a rare occasion, he just prefers water...ice water actually. i also allow him EVERYTHING i snack on....candies, ice cream, cookies, cake....no reason to be a hypocrite imo....but again...those r treats, i dont buy processed food that often and don;t stock sweets in my house for my own weight control purposes. i do keep diet vanilla ice cream on hand...lol...

Burk, I''m praying that Alimentum is the solution to Tayva''s feeding problem.

Jas12, loving the big version of your avatar!
