Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Luv the new pics everyone
just pooping in to say i hope everyone is feeling well--i am getting excited to see new PS baby pics!!!

Qtiekiki--the nursery is SO nice!

snlee - This is my first week at home. My last day was last Thursday when I was 37w5d. Yeah I do like being able to sleep in. When I was still working, I would be so sleepy at work everyday. So now instead of getting up at 5:15am, I get up at 9am. hehe.

Jas12 - I can''t wait to see new PS babies too. Although it might be a month or two before any new PS babies make their appearances after our.

Thanks for the compliments on the nursery. I am so glad you ladies like it.

JackieJas--gotta luv the unsolicited passerby comments eh? I got waaay too many of those at 42 weeks preggo (one of my faves being "why don''t you cut that thing out already" )ppl are i.d.i.o.t.s. sometimes.

.....

now my Public Service Announcment (for those who don''t read the mommy thread)
Just saw the Ricki Lake/Abby Epstein documentary "The Business of Being Born". It really is a must see for expecting moms--especially expecting moms who want some say in the quality of their maternity care or are just interested in the state of things in US health care system. It is really eye opening and extremely worthwhile viewing. Go rent it.

Jas, are you mobile enough to bonk them, bumper car style, from behind as they try to flee your preggo wrath? I could totally see being ready to kill at that point! It''s great to hear that you''re in such great shape, though, in terms of their weight and everything. hope everything continues just as well!

Jas12, thanks for the documentary tip. I think we''ll put it on our netflix list.

Eph, if you''re out there, please check in and let us know you''re OK!

So, I came back to the US just in time to make my ultrasound this morning. My mom is doing well and has finished all her tests. Sadly, she has to be alone for a couple of days until my step-dad gets back from visiting his mom, but some friends are staying over night with her, to make sure she does OK in the meantime. I wanted to stay extra, but she insisted that getting the u/s results asap would be the most possible comfort to her.

As for me (us?), the plane trip back, which was many, many, hours, was basically hellacious. The second worst plane trip of all time for me. The nausea has been pretty bad the last few days, and I had a splitting headache the whole time to boot. Plus, the food was inedible and the only snacks I brought were carbs, and I was craving PROTEIN! PROTEIN! So I was just ravenous and felt absolutely HORRIBLE when I finally got home.

On the upside, DH had bought fresh flowers, cleaned the house, and was at the door to take me for my fave soup at the local pan-asian as soon as I got back.

And the u/s was good. We are indeed expecting monochorionic, identical twins (subject to final confirmation by the radiologist). One is measuring about 2 days behind and the other about 4 days behind, but apparently, that''s nothing to worry about since they were measuring a bit behind consistently from the first u/s at 5/5ish weeks. Nice strong heartbeats on both of them. Everything looks fine and normal. So at this point, I guess it''s a go! M/C risk on detection of heartbeats past 8 wks is only 3%, and I''m now about 9 weeks (give or take, depending on the twin!)

So I told my dad he can spread the news now if he wants. There''s no one left for mom to spread the news to, since she has told EVERYONE and their dog (e.g., at the dog park, teehee), but who could blame her? Good news is hard to come by and hard to resist in our family at the moment!

BTW, we''ve now nicknamed the twins Romulus and Remus. But just as a joke of course. We don''t want them killing each other. Or, y''know, attempting to nurse from the family dog or whatever.

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all feeling well. Yay it''s FRIDAY!!!!! My last official day of work at one job as I am changing jobs. So happy about that.

Qtiekki I saw you responded yesterday so I am guessing you are resting and patiently waiting? Hope it''s not too hard on you. Your nursery is sooooo cute. I like the colors you chose and I saw the quinny buzz in the corner. Cute! I am kinda thinking about getting an orange or red stroller too. I need gender neutral for now. Are you gonna start baking like these other ps mommies from the past?

MRS Congratulations on a good visit and good betas! It''s so exciting! OH and I just reread your u/s is today! Can''t wait to hear about it!!!!!

Snlee yeah I realized after I was asking for pics that you had already recently posted- but we can never have too many pics. I am too shy to post yet, plus I don''t have much of a belly but I am taking pics every so often.
I think you and your dh have a point about not trying to fool the test for gd- but I also(no expert) think if you were really gonna turn out to be so, your food choices woiuldn''t hide it- maybe just keep you from that questionable borderline? I am not looking forward to those tests but ah well.

Eph I am thinking of you...

Lili thanks for the good wishes! J is soooo cute. I saw her pic on the mommy thread yesterday! I love that hair. How is the napping going? any better? Like the weight gain for me, it gets confusing/frustrating when what is normal for some isn''t happening in your particular case. But it seems like tgal and jas have it right- if you guys are both happy then it''s ok for your family.

Jas what did you do when that girl made the remark to you while dog walking? ppl are soooooo cuckoo sometimes...

Jas 12, tgal, tacori and all the mommies thanks for checking in on us...

IG Im glad you made it back safe and sound and had a great u/s!!!!!! It sounds like your DH is awesome! Lucky girl. I like the twins names, btw. I think I have to update my reading of mythology cause I don''t remember their story(it is mythology right?)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Pave, Romulus and Remus are the mythical founders of Rome, sons of Mars and some hapless priestess, nursed by a she-wolf, a shepherd found them, yada yada yada, the usual story. Then they founded Rome, Remus got stroppy, Romulus killed him in a dispute over who got to be the big boss, then laid down the political institutions of the city, stole a bunch of Sabine ladies to increase the population, conquered lots of territory, and started that whole Roman Empire schtick. etc.

So you see all over Rome statues of two bouncing baby boys sucking delicious wolf milk...

Rome is a city we're both very attached to, which is the reason for the joke. SPQR!

Indie, when I was in Rome I saw the statue BEFORE learning the story.....you should have seen my face. hahahahahaaha

Ephemery! We all miss you and hope that you and the baby are okay!

Ditto! I hope you check in soon. I''m worried about you!

Jas12, I watched the "The Business of Being Born" a few weeks ago and agree it''s a very informative eye opening documentary. It''s worth watching.

Indy, yay for a great u/s! I''m sorry about the crappy plane ride home. No fun at all! I am glad you are home safely. I hope your mom continues to do well.

Indy - Welcome back. Your DH is so sweet. Love the nicknames for the cubs and the story behind them. Yay for strong HBs! They are very reassuring.

Pave - I think I''ll bake next week if I don''t feel anything. My EDD is 8/3/08 (it says 7/29 on the preggo in waiting list because one of PS ladies change my EDD after my big u/s when our baby was measuring 5 days ahead, but my dr. never officially changed my EDD). Yeah I really like the red/orange combo on the Quinny Dreami Bassinet. I love that it''s gender neutral, so we can use it for our next kid if we wanted to.

I just got back from dr. appt and there''s still no progress. My cervix is still closed. So my dr. ordered me to walk at least one hour a day or until I feel cramps to get things going. I was walking but wasn''t feeling any cramps, so I guess I have to walk longer than I was. Since I am not dilated, we asked him when do we talk about induction. He says usually when it''s 5 days overdue, so hopefully we don''t get to that point.

Hope everyone else are doing well. Please check in when you ladies get a chance, especially you Eph. We are thinking about you.

Greetings cyber-friends.

I honestly don''t think I''m going more than a few more weeks (like 3-4)...I''m getting back pains and I think Baby A is wandering south. I also think Baby A is facing sunny-side-up, which is bad news, but we''ll know more when I get another U/S next Thursday.

Starting to do all the last minute stuff for the nursery. Have not experienced that mythological "burst of energy" but generally I''m pretty low-energy, so the fact that I put sheets in the crib was amazing.

DH best friend from college saw me for a few minutes yesterday after spending lotsa time w/ DH. He said, "Oh boy! It''s just you with Wilson the volleyball from Cast Away on your tummy." Which is why I love him, cuz I get how that''s a compliment. Then he told us to get a night nurse if we''re having twins or else 8 weeks post partum, one of us is apparently going to want to go out and have an affair. I was like, "Ohhh Kaaay???"
20.gif

We''re supposed to go to a wedding a week from Saturday (I''ll be 32W, 6d) DH is in the wedding. I am not. The groom keeps asking him if I''m going to give birth during the wedding or reception. Apparently he''s worried I''m going to "ruin" his big day.

Yeah, cuz, ya know, not only do I want to take all the attention away from you and your bride (I didn''t even feel comfy with the attention on my own wedding day), but I really want to experience something like that in front of 200 people. And, of course, I have so much control over that sort of thing.

I WANTED to say, "Golly, hon, maybe if Mr. Groom wasn''t asking you to be at the dressing location 2 hours before the wedding for pictures, which means I have to hang out at my parents'' house, then get back to the ceremony, then wait FIVE hours for the reception while y''all go traipsing about the area and I get to go back to my parents for minimal bedrest and then go back to a reception where I am sure I am sitting with MIL and FIL, we wouldn''t have to worry about stress-induced labor..."

But then I realized that sounds really b***chy of me, so I just said, "Tell Groomy not to worry, I''ll keep my legs crossed."

Wow. Could I be any more delightful?

QT -- I lurve your nursery! Good job!
Hi Jas12 and TGal! Good to see you! I was just re-reading the entire thread over the last few days, focusing on people''s L&D stories...so helpful and wonderful to read them again!
Indy -- I didn''t bump her, but I did give her boyfriend a look, like "Ok, really? You put up with this?" If my belly button weren''t so sensitive, yeah, I shoulda given her a good ol'' sumo wrestling bump. Best wishes for your mom and I''m glad the U/S went well! Hopefully you are able to exhale a little! Sorry your flight was floopy. NO fun.
Pave -- yea! Last day! Whoop!
Ephemery -- add my name to the concerned chorus.
Hi Snlee!

Ok, I''m taking bets on my actual delivery date. I''m guessing I go 34 weeks, 4 days.

Winner gets a baby...I''ve got a spare.

For the humor impared, that was a joke. Do not call CPS on me.

jas- that is hi-larious! I just popped over from the TTC thread to see how you preggos are getting along, and that last part of your post made me laugh!

Does anyone have her email address?? I wonder if kaleigh might...

Hi y''all!

Jas12 - thanks for suggesting that film! I''ll check it out
IG - glad your u/s went well but sorry your flight was so bad. I hope your mom''s doing better! Could you teach my DH to get me fresh flowers and clean when I''ve been away!? That''s great that you have him so well trained!
pave - congrats on the new job!
Q - hang in there!
Jas - sorry to hear you''ve got that wedding coming up - That''s frustrating that DH is IN the wedding and the groom seems so insensitive... I hope it goes okay. I''ll vote 34 weeks 3 days! AND, I''ll gladly take one of those little ones off your hands!
19.gif

So my u/s went really well today. We learned that our little blob is measuring 6 weeks today so my due date should be March 20th. It''s the cutest little blob I''ve ever seen!
30.gif
I was kinda hoping we would see two little blobs in there since I''m a twin but I was also somewhat relieved there was only one. We got to see the heart beat and they even gave us a CD with the video and pics to share with our families. Everything looked good so I''m feeling very positive. I was hoping we would be closer to 8 weeks since it''s hard knowing we''re not really out of the woods yet and wont be for a while... but that''s okay. I''m just really excited and hopeful!

happy friday ladies!

hugs, mrs

O.M.G. THE NAUSEA!!!! I'm dying here. Even the seabands aren't helping. Why is this happening to me at 9.5 wks!?!? Isn't it supposed to be winding down already? ARGH! And it's getting worse every day.

ARGH!

Eph, please check in if you can. We're all thinking of you.

Q, I bet the anticipation is unbearable.

Jas, you keep your babies! I got my hands full already! But I'll bet 35 wks on the nose.

Hey everyone, I am back! The conference was good, and except for a sever lack of protein I felt really okay the whole time. I was worried I''d have to tell my roommate (whom I work with) that I was preggo, in case I was sick or weird or something, but it was fine.

Thanks to the people who commented on the shortness of breath and my eager MIL. I feel okay these days, I think it is the killer heat that really does me in. I can''t handle humidity! And my MIL is still eager--she called DH yesterday to say she was in a baby store and did we want her to buy us a crib when the time comes... ummm YES
9.gif
Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I am happy to accept any baby gifts they want to throw our way!

Jas I think you will hit 35.5 weeks. I know that feels a long way off, but the longer those babies can bake the better, so I am going to think positive!

snlee good luck on the second GD test. I ditto what curly said about eating well the night before. The ODDS are that you do not have GD, and a bad diet the day before could easily result in a borderline score, esp. on the short test. In contrast, if you really have GD, nothing you di with your diet should *mask* it, KWIM? But whatever you do, good luck!

Indy I''m sorry that your mom''s diagnosis wasn''t as positive as you had hoped, but it sounds like her attitude is great and the news about Romulus + Remus seems to be offering her that hope and determination to keep strong and positive! It seems silly to some people, but attitude and one''s emotional state have a huge impact on health outcomes, so she is better off that most I am sure! And congrats on the good u/s. What a relief. So they share a placenta, right? Do they share a sac too?

As for me, I am 9w1d today
36.gif
and feeling more and more optimistic with each passing week. At the end of next week I have my first midwife appointment and I''m really looking forward to that. There is a possibility that we will be able to hear the hb with the doppler, if the baby is facing the right direction blah blah blah. So I really hope we hear it, it will make me feel a lot better. Otherwise, I will have my NT scan in a few weeks, after I return from my vacation back home, and as long as that is all good we will be able to finally go public!

I was talking to my friend last night and she said she didn''t start with the puking until weeks 12 - 14
23.gif
! I''m sorry you are feeling poopy, but it is a good thing, it means those babies are making lots of hormones and are healthy and growing! It''s probably worse b/c there are two in there, didn''t someone say that?

I haven''t had what you would call "morning sickness" but every day like clockwork at 7:30 I start feeling queazy and it lasts until I go to bed.

DD, welcome back! We missed you, girl! Glad to hear everything is coming along and that your midwife appt is coming up. How are your symptoms? To answer your q, the twins share a chorionic sac (and hence a placenta) but my understanding is that they are in separate amniotic sacs, probably, because they each appeared to have a yolk sac of their own. That''s my understanding anyway. I will have a follow up with the doc on Monday.

indy, quick driveby...
UGH on the nausea....but unfortunately mine didn''t really start until about 8 wks with nausea and true vomiting around 9 weeks that didn''t let up until 13 weeks...
UGH UGH UGH.
hang in there!! and hope you''re mom is hanging in there too!! :)

Mrs, yay for a great first u/s! That''s awesome you get a CD of the u/s!

jas, I''ll bet 35 weeks exactly. You can keep the baby. One is enough for me.
2.gif

Indy, I''m sorry to hear the morning sickness has kicked in. Hopefully it won''t last long!

Welcome back dreamer!

I tried to eat well and eat lots of carbohydrates and fruit. I''m sitting in the lab right now taking my 3-hour glucose test. Good thing the hospital has free wireless internet and DH is keeping me company. We brought some DVDs to watch too. This is going to be a long 4 hours!!!

Hang in there SNLEE!

Indy -- first off, sorry I didn''t respond sooner and I''m SO very sorry to hear the diagnosis for your mom isn''t better. (((hugs))) I''m really glad to hear you had a good u/s though! Are you already seeing a peri? Just curious -- with mo-di''s you definitely *will* but I was just curious as to when. Some twin moms get peri''s immediately, which i think would be nice... I''m saying prayers for your mom...p.s. your dh rocks :)

Mrs-- congrats on a good u/s!

Jackie -- hang in girl! I''m gonna give you til 35 weeks and 1 day. But I don''t need the extra baby if i win, thanks
2.gif

Dreamer -- i''m with you on letting mom buy a crib! woo-hoo! congrats on 9 weeks!

Snlee -- good luck on the 3 hour test!

LIA, Pave, Curly, Janine, etc. -- hiya! Hope you''re all doing well!

It''s been a long time since i posted -- I want to always be able to reply to everyone and don''t always have the time, so I end up feeling bad and not posting. I know I shouldn''t stress about it but i do!

So I had my appt Thrsday (25 weeks 1 day) and the girls are doing great! Marina is weighing approx 2 lb 2 oz and Sophie''s weighing approx 1 lb 14 oz (they were supposed to be about 1 and a half lbs each at this point) -- so they''re big! My dr''s a bit concerned about the size discrepancy, but only takes further action if the difference reaches 20%. Since they have their own sacs and placentsa and i think they''re frats anyway, i''m chalking it up to them being 2 different kids, you know? Anyway, it''s just something to keep an eye on.

I had the u/s tech look at the cervix on u/s and she said it looked good and my dr said the pics looked good (he still won''t check it) so i feel better about that too since i *do* have a lot of bh''s. Oh and Marina is head-down now, so that explains my recent bladder issues :) Sophie''s still transvers across the top, so i have a "t" shape of babies in my belly -- strange huh? Anyway, guess that''s all for now -- see y''all soon...
jen

I have the exact same thing! Baby Logan has been transverse since the first U/S me thinks. Makes me wonder about delivery, but we''ll know soon and of course I''ll pass along what I''m told. But, heads up (no pun intended), as they get bigger, that transverse baby gets really uncomfortable. As soon as he comes out, I''m going to put him in a big ol'' time out for making Mommy squirm.

Hi Happy in Love -- hope we''ll see you here more often soon! Glad I could make someone smile today!
Hey Mrs. I''ll remember your offer if one of them gets all colicky. Hooray blob! Isn''t that just the greatest appointment ever???
Indy -- Sorry about the nausea. I''ve heard great things about Ginger Altoids...and of course ginger ale is the old stand by. Hang in there.
Welcome Back Dreamer! I''m with you about people wanting to contribute to the piles of baby stuff!
9.gif

Snlee -- At this point your testing should be over. I''m so glad your DH was with you. I hope you are able to do something fun tonight!

I just feel so PREGNANT today. And not in a good way. I swear my belly has doubled in size this week. We''ll take a picture tomorrow -- 32 weeks! I''m so excited and relieved...that''s a big milestone.

Just saying I am still here. I think I pulled something from walking because my right pelvis hurts when I move my right leg. And the walking isn''t bringing on any cramps. I just get tired swollen feet. Sorry for the vent.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hang in their Q!! Keep your feet elevated as much as possible. I know these last few days are sooo uncomfortable. It won''t be long now, get as much sleep as you can. I know easy for me to say. HUGS!!!!

Hi gals! I''m just jumping in from the TTC thread to ask you guys when you started showing. Even though I''m not going to be TTC for another 1.5 cycles, I''m already thinking about when I''m going to have to tell my coworkers/boss. I''m planning to keep it a secret until they can tell that I look pregnant (probably around 12-14 weeks). Do you think that it''s different for smaller people (I''m 5''1'''' and about 105-110 lbs)? Thanks SO much!

Peony - I think I really started to pop when I was around weeks 16-20. I am 5''0" and was about your weight when I got preggo. Is this your first? You''ll typically show sooner with your second and beyond. Good luck TTC!

jen, glad to hear you had a great u/s and doc appointment.

jas and qtiekiki, I''m sorry you are so uncomfortable. I am starting to get uncomfortable myself so I can only imagine how you both feel. Hang in there!

peonygirl, my experience was about the same as Diva''s. I''m 5''0" too and was about your weight when I got pregnant. I told my boss and co-workers at 13 weeks. You can totally hide it until 14 weeks. I didn''t start showing till 16 weeks or so (even then it was only to those who knew I was pregnant). I started to really noticeably show around 20 weeks. Good luck TTC when the time comes!

Thanks for the asking that question, Peony, I was also wondering. I guess I'll show a little sooner with twins?

Actually, today I bought maternity clothes! I feel a little guilty about it, but with only a 3% chance of miscarriage at this point, and with all the craziness in the next month (my sister's coming to stay, then we're moving cross country, then I start a new job), I thought I may as well do a quick trip and get some basics so I don't get caught with my pants down (or at least unable to get them up). I am determined to keep the costs under control, so I went to Old Navy first, got a pair of jeans, a pair of fab-o cozy legging thingies, (I'm guessing I'll live in these), a couple of t's, and then to Filene's for some nice tops for work and a GORGEOUS purple dress... not specifically for maternity, but with plenty of room to grow in. Nice thing about it is that I can wear the dress again after prego-land. It's a nice piece, and was on sale for about 75% off. Total cost for 4 tops, 2 pairs of pants, and the dress: $140. So I'm feeling OK about that.

Yes, I'm one of those bargain lovers, I'm afraid.

Question: at Old Navy, they had maternity underoos. Is this really necessary?! Can't, er, regular ones fit under your belly when it comes time? Thoughts?
