Are there some sort of exercises that you can do while on bedrest?

Lili I''m not Snlee, but my twins books have some bedrest exercises in them. The twin resources are great for bedrest issues because so many twin moms have to go on bedrest.

Lisa, holy moly, more twins on PS!!! And yes, I did eat my cheese platter, and I plan on eating many many more in the coming months.

DD[/b], ligament pain? I''ve had sharp, painful pulling pains in my lower abdomen for over a month now. It usually only happens when I''ve been laying on the bed and then sit up quickly.

NF and Snlee, you''re right, I shouldn''t worry too much about bedrest except I''ve seen women with singletons go on it, too. So naturally it''s something I worry about because I already worry that I''m not going to be able to be good at my work this semester because of all the stress and deadlines. I''ll tell my course head in a month or so, but try my best to reassure him that I have everything under control (more or less).

Indy, two rambunctious identical boys!

As much as I love my mom, she drives me nuts. I''m definitely a daddy''s girl. Even though she tries her best to be my ''friend,'' I''m all about my dad. Hmmm. I don''t think we''ll be able to have another child for quite a few years (5-7), if at all, so whatever we end up with might well be it for us.

lili, I've been just doing leg lifts and pelvic tilts. When I asked my doctor about exercises, she wasn't very helpful. NF, mind sharing some of those exercises?

Janine, Don't worry if the right side is more comfortable-for 80% of women it is the left and for 20% of women there is less aortocaval compression when lying on the right side, so you might be that 20%!
Ditto. I've read a lot about horizontal positions and right side is okay so give that a try.

jen, congrats on 29 weeks! I know what you mean about being suprised to make it this far. That's how I've been every week since the hospital stay.

35 w 4 d.

Points of non-interest:

Dr. appt this morning -- still only 3 cm, which kinda disappointed me. No progress there. Cervix about 1 cm.
Babies are gigantic. Still no stretch marks, though. Whoo!
Put on 4 pounds since last week, which is fine considering I haven''t put on weight in about 5 weeks.
Can I just say that the Strep B test is rather unpleasant, especially when my doctor told me that she was amazed I have no hemis, considering it''s twins?
NST was interesting -- when I was admitted to hospital 3 weeks ago, my "peaks" were at 60. Today during NST, my contractions hit 114!!! Still didn''t hurt.

Doctor said twice she wouldn''t be surprised if I went tonight. Then she followed that up by saying that if I don''t go by Sept 8, she''s inducing. I do not want to be preggo for another 2.5 weeks.

Babies are very healthy and dr. said that unless something unusual came up, they''d be able to come home with us immediately!!!

NST, U/S and a regular appointment next Monday.

Got p*ssed at the dude in the Burger King drive-thru (we go once a month after an appointment). Dude looked at me and said, laughing, "What, you got two in there." I wanted to scream "F*** you, Burger King Dude," but he gave us extra onion rings, so I didn''t. I''m a ring ho.

Sorry I''m not responding to other posts, but I''m so worn out from a silly 1 hour appointment. Nutty. Hope you are all well!

Jas Well if the 8th approaches and no babies, better start all those tricks to get it started! You know, sex, walking up and down stairs, drinking some castor oil (not at night, the cramps will keep you up since is also causes diarrhea), baking. It all sounds exhausting!
3.gif
PS: but probably less exhausting than being preggo at 37 weeks with big boy twins!

jas, good news about the big healthy babies and that the babies will be able to go home with you immediately!
36.gif
No stretch marks and no hemis are also a plus!

You''re in the home stretch! Hang in there! I''m sending you lots of labor vibes!

Jas So glad you're hanging in there!!! Didn't you say you have to do some baking this weekend? I'd start right NOW!

Snlee I'll have to go check my book and get back to you on exercise recommendations. The book is by Barbara Luke, she's a twins expert, so you might be able to find out more info online too. I'll try and hit you back in a few days with that info.

This is a quickie...I just got back from my first Moms of Multiples meeting, which was fun. Unfortunately many of the younger women there seem a bit "cliquey", I hope that is a misconception though! On a fun note I did meet another newbie there who is due 2 days after me, with twin girls, at the same hospital! So we exchanged info, it'll be fun to have someone local to go through this with.

I feel like a little kid at X-Mas tonight...it's only like 9pm and I want to go to sleep SO BADLY so that tomorrow will come sooner. Luckily the appointment is at 8am, so I don't have to agonize all day. I will let y'all know as soon as I am home!!!! Might be a few hours because hubby and I might make a Costco run after (which we are ALSO super excited about because it just opened up this week). Fun day!!!

I am so excited for you NF. Glad you had a nice meeting, and that you got to exchange info with someone who is due the same time you are. I think that''s awesome. Nighty night!!

I hope your babies co-operate and stick their butts in the air for the u/s tech! Can''t wait to hear what ya got!

Oh Jas,
You are sooo funny. I have no words for That Burger Kind Dude.

So glad the babies are doing well, and that once you deliver they will be able to come home with you. I hope you go soon, I know you must be soooo ready. Best of luck for a smooth delivery. Hugs to you!! Won't be long now, you've been a champ!!!!

Thanks NF. I found part of the book online so no need to get back to me. That''s great you met a women having twins due around the same time as you. Have a great u/s tomorrow! I can''t wait to find out what you''re having!

neatfreak,

Good luck tomorrow! What are your guesses?

Thanks Ebree! My hunch is boy/girl, that is what my mom thinks too. But for awhile I thought it was 2 girls...and I had dreams about two girls. So we'll see!! Whatever they are we just hope everything looks healthy and on target for their gestational age! It's been ages since we had an u/s and since we declined the N/T scan and amnio we haven't heard much about them/the pregnancy. So exciting and scary at the same time!

Kaleigh, DD, and SnleeThanks for the well wishes!!! Can't wait till tomorrow! I swear I am off to bed now!

Good luck NF.
How exciting.....can''t wait to hear your news.
I always believe in a mother''s intuition, so I''ll guess that you are having 2 girlies.

I''m surprised that you don''t get more u/s than you are getting.
I thought that''s one of the perks of having multiples -- u/s for most appts.

Aww Jas, I think you've surpassed my guess date of delivering at 35wk3days,
but yay for your boys staying put for this long.

And WOW about the lack of hemis and stretch marks
36.gif
36.gif

You must have awesome genes or are super fit!

Ok, now we'll be sprinkling labor and delivery dust your way.

Good luck NF!

Jas, ring ho, love it! And no stretch mark with twins??!? You know how you''ve been blogging about all those people who say stuff about your belly? Well, that''s the way I feel about you at the moment...ha! No stretchmarks with twins...unbelievable...I am so jealous. Mine are hideous.

Canadian preggos, FYI, listeriosis 'outbreak'.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26318179/
Thanks for posting this TGal, I think I am the only Canadian preggo right now, and since I am a vegetarian, I am safe! Man alive I'd be worried if I wasn't vegie though!!

NF Just to be contrary I am going to predict two boys! Then you and Indy will both be in double-trouble boy land!

Good morning!

Dreamer -- LOL. H*lls no on the castor oil, but I''m gonna try almost everything else in the book. Maybe if I go out in public wearing white pants my water will break. (Or, instead of white pants, the USA women''s volleyball team uniform. White AND sexy on a preggo!)
Snlee -- Thanks sweetie! You''re coming down the stretch, too! I can''t wait to "meet" your LO. How are you feeling these days?
NF -- I will be baking something today...and I am SO excited for you today! Don''t keep us hanging. I have no predictions other than 2 little cuties for you! Sounds like you had an interesting meeting yesterday and I''m so happy for you to have Twin Mama Buddies!
Kaleigh -- How sweet are you? Thanks for your kind words. It''s nice to know you are an angel presence around here! And yes, BK guy must go.
Lili -- thanks and sorry you didn''t win the lottery -- I guess you don''t get one of my babies now. I will totally credit good genes for how I look in this pregnancy. I will take lots of dust, thanks!
Tgal - I don''t think it''s possible for you to be hideous, but as I just wrote, it''s all genetic with me. Now, I will state that I am swollen beyond belief, and my skin is so dry I want to scratch it all off (the dr. said it was just dry skin, nothing serious) and I''ve not been physically comfortable in 2 months. Does that bring back the love?

Waiting to hear from NF and I''m gonna BAKE today, so stand back!

Can't wait for the news, NF!

Glad you're hanging in there, Jas, but hopefully you'll only have to hang in for another week at the most. Come on boys! You're not grounded anymore! come out and play!

Blenheim, any news? You doing OK?

snlee, there's a foundation particularly for women on bedrest that has tonnes of information and resources. I think it's called "Sidelines" or something like that. I'll try to find their website for you. It should have plenty of info about exercise etc.

I talked to the woman in charge of accessibility to people with disabilities at my new workplace yesterday. She was super nice and has dealt with a few high risk pregnancy cases. She has a whole REAM of ideas for things they can do to help me keep working as long as I want, including lots of technological innovations if I end up on bed rest. They'll actually come hook me up for video-conferencing from home, for instance! Awesome! They'll move meetings and schedules around so I don't have to climb any stairs, and she can arrange for me to be able to recline in my office, with accompanying technology for my computer, if I decide I want to keep coming in, but need naps and horizontal, off the pelvis time.

So now I have to tell my 'boss'. But telling her we're all set in case of trouble will make it easier. So then why do I feel like such an idiot marching in there and telling her?!
15.gif
It's not that I'm scared. It's that I'm embarrassed.

SNLEE, the website is sidelines.org... They are fantastic! They will even give you phone support if you need it.

Morning ladies...

Can''t wait to hear from Neatfreak!

Jas-- glad you had a good appt... hope those boys don''t make you wait ''til the 8th!

had to go to L&D again yesterday afternoon -- this time for good ole regular contractions. They did a Ffn test and it came back negative and they put me on procardia to ease up the contrax. Not sure how i feel about that since you aren''t supposed to take it if you have low blood pressure and i do. Nurse''s suggestion was that if i get any signs of lightheadedness, dizzy, etc, to just sit down immediately since i could pass out easily (no big whoop, huh?) Fun fun. Anyway, someone FINALLY checked my danged cervix and it''s only about a fingertip dialated and still long, so i giuess that means the girls and i are doing ok. phew. Sorry for the drive by, i just got back from teaching and am wiped out! bbl...

Jen -- yikes...tell your girls that all this hospital drama needs to stop!!! I''m so sorry you''re going through this.

Indy -- good deal on the accomodations at work. Don''t be embarrassed...be proud and claim what is yours, woman!

Cookies are in the oven...

Hi, ladies! We got back from Vegas on Monday night, spent Tuesday cleaning the house, and then my mom and her boyfriend arrived Wednesday night to visit. I''ve just been too busy to check in, but everything''s going pretty well. I started feeling pretty quesy on Mon and Tues and then my MW told me to stop taking prenatal vitamins and just take folic acid and B6 for now, and that''s helping a lot.

It was nice seeing people in Vegas and I really enjoyed my facial, but I didn''t care that much for the city. I''m not really into nightlife and gambling though. We decided to tell hubby''s family that we''re expecting while we were there. His mom started crying and his sister started jumping up and down and screaming.
1.gif
His cousin''s reaction was "Well, we know, sweetie. You''re showing." I''m really bloated. I feel like I already don''t recognize my tummy, and I know that it''s going to get way bigger. I''m feeling a little jealous of Erica right now.
2.gif

My mom arrived with my old crib and baby clothing in tow. It''s taking up the entire dining room right now.
23.gif
Does anyone happen to know what the current recommendations are about crib slat spacing, etc? We need to check and make sure it''s still considered safe.

I had my first MW appointment on Wednesday. She couldn''t really do much, other than get a baseline on my urine and blood pressure, but the visit was really more so that my mom could meet her. She really nicely offered to do a house visit, which was great. I''m seeing her again in another 4 weeks.

Lisa - Congrats! That''s got to be both really exciting and really scary. At least you don''t have 6 in there, though.
2.gif
I have my fingers crossed for you.

Indy - Congrats on 2 boys! When are you planning on telling your boss?

NF - Good luck today!

So the verdict is in....and it's TWO BOYS!!!!! DD was right!

So I thought I would be upset, but I am completely not, which is the biggest shock of all. I'm actually really excited, which is weird considering that I thought I really wanted a girl!

But the best part here is that they are already 1 lb each and the doctor said so far everything looks perfect. So that made me SO SO relieved. They are also both head down, so here's to hoping that they stay that way!!!!

More later, I need to go send out a mass email to our RL friends. But I had to tell you guys first. =)

Congratulations NF! Welcome to Team Blue Times Two!

Congrats Neatfreak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah blue twins!
37.gif
37.gif
Welcome to the club! And so glad to hear that they are thriving. So, you were on the same ''plan'', weight gain wise as JAS, right? A pound a week, roughly? How much are you at now if you don''t mind me asking? Cause if your boys are doing so well too, that gives me even more confidence in the course I''m on, weight-wise.

Wow, I was just trying to be a sh*$ disturber but I was right! LOL!

Congrat! It is boy-ville around here!

NF, Another set of boys, how exciting!! I guess DD and I are up next, although it''ll be another month before I find out anything.

Jas, I''ve always loved BK''s onion rings. No stretchmarks? Have you been using any lotions or anything that I should know about?
2.gif

Indy, that''s great that the office can set up video conferencing! I''m so impressed by how organized they are. You''re embarrassed about telling your boss? I don''t know what kind of embarrassment you''re feeling, but I am definitely embarrassed about being pregnant. I feel like I''m going to be a major inconvenience, possibly even perceived as a failure in the making. Sigh. I think I need a break from being pregnant.

Good luck telling your boss. It sounds like you have all your ducks in a row, so hopefully the reaction will be positive and supportive. It''s all about exuding an air of confidence, right?

Blen, I''m glad you enjoyed your facial, at least! I agree, gambling isn''t exactly my cup of tea, although my mom seems to enjoy going there for the shows and the shopping. I can''t believe your husband''s cousin said that you were showing. I mean, sure, but do they really have to point it out? Don''t they know we''re really really sensitive? Do you get to have an u/s at your next appointment?
