Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Yeh the hormonal rollacoaster isn''t fun but in my case I don''t get upset or sad...I get annoyed and frustrated and angry at everything....everything seems to annoy the crap outta me...o well if ppl don''t understand then too bad ;)

Mela- I agre why can''t things just go right but it sounds common what u have..I hear many have that hematoma...never heard about diff shaped uterus..learn something new everyday. But it doesn''t sound serious and as long as u are monitored should be fine ;)...u have such a great outlook on things and middie sounds very supportive and positive whoch is nice to have around u.

Im not sure if this was discussed before...but wanted to know what everyone''s thoughts are about cord blood?? Is anyone doing that?

Mela that is poopy! I just did a little internet reading on it though and it looks like it is a common thing that isn't known to be a problem, so all you can do is think positive!

As for me: I had another midwife appointment this morning and it was fun. Everything looks good, fundal height where it should be etc. Baby was playing with her when she was examining my uterus--she would poke and baby would kick back! The interesting this is that at my 12 week u/s the measurements put my due date 6 days ahead, and at my 20 week u/s the measurements were still putting me about 5-6 days ahead! I was charting and it seems really unlikely that I ovulated 5-6 days before my temp rise, but since we had sex for like 8 days in a row pre-ovulation
20.gif
if I *did* ovulate that early then it is possible I conceived then!

So what do you charting-knowledgeable people think?? Could I have ovulated almost a week earlier than my chart indicated? That would have made my ovulation day CD-10, which is really early for anyone... maybe I ovulated a few days before my chart but later that the u/s says?

Anyhoo... let's hope that I don't have a ginormous baby!
23.gif
But if I do our midwife is an expert, last week she attended a birth for a 10lb 6oz baby born naturally with very little peritineal damage (minor normal amounts)! Still, I am hoping for a smaller baby, not the big one I seem to be growing now! haha

DD- sorry no nothing about charting...but how cool that the baby was playing! I love that. U should put an u/s pic up...love seeing those cuties.

once I learn how to do that and babies gets big will def show everyone :)

I think I posted the 20 week one about a month ago on here?? That was the last one, we won''t have another unless I go overdue and they want to check how things are going...

Most places you can't do it because of the twin factor. You certainly can't donate it unfortunately. I really wanted to donate it and was pissed when they told us they wouldn't because it was a multiples birth. And I think there is only one company who will even collect it from multiple births even if you are willing to pay through the nose for it...

And realistically, the chances of using it in the future are practically nothing despite what the propaganda the cord blood registries put out. Not to mention that about 70% of cord blood collected isn't suitable for transplant anyway, so you are paying an obscene amount of money for a next to nil chance that you will use it AND only a 30% chance that if you need it, it will be useable for transplant. Plus they don't know how stable it is over time...so you could pay to store it for 20 years, need it, and then find out it isn't good anymore.

Not to mention that it often can't be used for the same child anyway...persoanlly with the cost, I just don't think your "expected value" is high enough to pay. But I know others make different decisions. I would only consider it if either you have tons of money or you have genetic diseases that run in your family that raises your risk of needing it someday considerably.

Thanks neat- that''s exactly what I was thinking about it being non usable and too expensive...so I won''t go that route. And thankfully no genetic diseases. A friend of mine did it with her singleton and was saying I should do it too but I read about it and think not necessary. Thanks ;)

Can I leave work and go home "tired" instead of "sick"? I''ve already worked half a day. Don''t I deserve a "tired" half day??

I skipped all day yesterday because I was tired. I looked at FI and said, I''m not going in today and I didn''t.

Maury was awesome yesterday BTW. They had the DNA show where the father doesn''t believe he''s the father and the results are read live. Man...the things I miss while at work

Albeebaby.com ...cute site..has so many diff brands...I still don't know what car seat is good..debating on infant car seat or like a britax one (are those good for newborns??)..bc didn't look 2 comfy for the newbies.

Best one for twinfants IMO (and also very highly rated) is the Chicco Keyfit. My reasons:

1. It has a newborn insert already in place which makes you avoid the towel rolling you need with small babies.

2. It goes down to 4 lbs which is important if you have preemies or small babies and with twins you are likely to. Otherwise your babies can't ride in a car safely until 5 lbs and it's possible they might come home before then.

3. Their latch system clips are far superior to the graco IMO. It's just a super easy clip with a button release. Also reaaaaaally easy to install and make sure you install correctly. It has just a few straps to adjust and was just so much easier.

4. The straps for the baby are really quick and easy too. I fought with the graco and maxi-cosi ones.

5. They will fit in a double snap and go stroller.

6. It easily and VERY QUIETLY snaps in and out of the base in the car.

Anyway, those were my reasons. My OB also doesn't recommend the convertable carseats for infants, so I took his recommendation and stayed away. Infant seats just are safer for infants from what I have read and Britax doesn't make a dedicated infant seat.

Just popping in to say I love our chicco infant car seat! She was in it for ehr first year. I will NEVER buy a car seat without the button in front to adjust the straps (not sure what the real name is). What a PITA! When we went to visit my mom you had to adjust the straps in the BACK (in the car seat she bought for T) which is not practical. Luckily my Britax roundabout ALSO has this button. It makes life So much easier.

Hey ladies. I need to vent…I’m REALLY struggling w/ my (already) changing body. It’s making me depressed. I’ve always had body issues and seeing myself gain weight is making me sad

8.gif
I already feel like my thighs and a** are HUGE!! And I’m only 10 weeks! How do I get over this? It’s making me really upset and I feel guilty about that because I know how many woman struggle to get preggo and I can’t wait to be a mom, but I don’t like this being pregnant/weight gain thing. I’m also tired of being tired all the time and always being hungry…it’s annoying! I know I shouldn’t complain, but right now I can’t help it. I cried this morning getting dressed, I hate the way my body looks in my clothes.

I don’t really know what the point of this post is, I guess I just needed to tell someone how I’m feeling. Don’t think I’m a bad person for feeling this way, I really am excited about my future child, I just wish my DH could carry it instead of me

Has anyone else gone thru this? How did you cope w/ it?

Hey

I don''t know if this is going to make any sense at all but I cannot eat real food
39.gif
LOL

First of all, I haven''t been "blessed" with m/s as of yet. However, the thought of real food makes me gag. Mashed potatoes

, chicken
14.gif
, beans
14.gif
, rice
14.gif
, eggs

You know what doesn''t make me gag? Pizza. And french fries.

I wouldn''t call it a craving its just that home cooked food doesn''t sound good to me at all. I''m hoping I''ll get over it soon.
20.gif

Thanks guys..will def look into the chicco...I was also thinking that I should get the infant ones in the beginning so hopefully can find them on sale somewhere.

fiery - I''m the same way for the most part. I do have days though were I can eat ''real'' food. But for the most part the thought of home cooked meals make me sick. I do force myself to eat other things though instead of pizza and french fries. I have done well w/ fruit so I''ve been eating a lot of that inbetween meals.

That's it's own form of m/s. Food aversions. Totally normal. For much of my first 12 weeks I could eat ice cream, fruit, crackers, and that was about it. And my doctor said it was totally fine and normal, it just happens. So when you are feeling good, eat something good. When you aren't just eat anything you can get down.

Worth googling to see if any hospital near you has what is called a "safety center". I've heard there are a number of them nationwide. We have one here and they sell all kinds of safety gear for kids at cost. So I got my Chicco seats for about $125 each, which was a pretty great price.

If I remember correctly one of the children's hospitals in philly has one. I don't know how close that is to you.

Lets just say that my diet for the last 8 weeks has been mainly apples. I force myself to eat ''real food'' about twice a week and then feel so icky I just go back to apples.

I felt quite bad admitting it - especially as I''ve had ''issues'' over eating in the past and I struggle to have a normal calorie intake at the best of times - however, my father (who''s an MD), my OB and my GP all laughed and said that as long as I didn''t start to actively lose weight then apples seemed fine to them.

Since it was pickled onions very early on I suppose the sproglet should be grateful.
9.gif

Pray for no morning sickness - I''m still throwing up at 14 weeks. I was hoping after 8 weeks solid that the m/s would have let up. I thought it was last week but this week it''s back with a vengeance. If I didn''t have my wonder-pills I don''t know what I''d do.

Talking of which, I lost it in the chemist this afternoon. I noticed last time that promethazine is available over the counter, so I decided to buy some instead of getting an Rx from my GP. So, I went into Boots (big chain of chemists) and asked for a pack of promethazine. 25mg or 10mg they ask. Oh, I say, I''ll have the 10mg as the 25mg knock you out a bit.

Then the chemist asks what I am taking them for. So I tell her my GP prescribed them for morning sickness. She tells me that this is an off-label use and so I can''t have them. Even though they have a record of my having been prescribed them twice in the last 2 months on their computer system - and the tablets being OTC and not prescription only. She wants a new script from my doctor before I can have them.

Fine I say, I''ll call my father and you can speak to him on the phone. Okay she says, but he''ll need to fax a prescription afterwards.

So I ask her what she thinks they are taken for... well, apparently you give them to small kids to make them sleep on long journeys. Okay I tell her, I need them to make my child sleep on a long journey - can I please have them now. No, she says, as you might decide to take one too.

At which point I lose it, tell her that I am a (insert word of choice) adult and I will take whatever the heck I like and does she expect me to walk all the way to another branch to tell them that my child needs them so I can have the sodding tablets.

Yes she says and tells me where the nearest branch was. I could have throttled the woman. I was too tired to walk a mile to the next branch so I now have exactly 2 tablets left. I have a good mind to go round on Monday and let her find out what happens when I DON''T take promethazine.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr, major vent... sorry!

Twin mamas, I heard on a baby saving site something about BRU having a twin discount (when you buy two of the same item). Obviously I have never tried it but you totally should ask about it next time you are there!

cdt, I wish I could tell you get easier...it is nice when you look preggo not just fat. I gained a lot of weight. I can only think of two members that gained more (with one baby) *blush*. It wasn''t like I was eating nonstop either! My neighbor is the same way as me and said some women just gain more than others (no matter what they do). Guess I am one of the lucky ones! haha. I also had some VERY insensitive comments when I was preggo. Very hurtful and upsetting. Finally I just came to terms with it (maybe around 30 weeks). I was making a human...anyone who had a problem with the way I looked could disappear as far as I was concerned. Some things are just out of our control and gaining weight is one of them. I think it is hard for everyone to see their bodies change and you are having a completely normal reaction!

Yeah, it kind of sucks though. It''s only good on "big" items like cribs and strollers, and they told me there are restrictions even on that. AND you have to buy two of the exact same thing, no color changes, etc. And it can''t be combined with other offers, so since it''s only 10% it''s not really worth it for much IMO.

I don''t think you are a bad person at all. I think a lot of people feel this way - and if you have issues to start with it makes it much more difficult.

I get very uncomfortable and anxious if I am the least bit over ''my'' ideal weight (which tends to be around 12lbs lighter than my mother/doctor/insert name etc would feel was ideal).

I can cope with the idea of getting a bump, but I don''t like the idea of putting weight on anywhere else. So far, my m/s has meant I''ve not really put any weight on - tummy has rounded out, but that''s it. I find the idea of having to put on the 12kg+ that you are advised quite frightening.

I''m finding that taking things one day at a time and not freaking about looking like a beached whale in 4 months time makes it easier. The women in my family all seem to balloon when pg and then lose it all in between - certainly never looked like the Italian girls I worked with who only looked pg in profile!

Don''t beat yourself up about feeling fed up with it all. I have sat and cried in my GPs office and told him I''ve made a huge mistake several times. Being exhausted, sick, depressed and anxious do not make me feel like I am ''blooming'' or that I have any desire to rush into providing siblings. My GP just said that it was no wonder I felt like that, but he promised that I would think it was all worthwhile.
1.gif

Most of the time I just plot revenge for the teenage years to come.
27.gif

It is hard when you know that so many people struggle to get pregnant at all - but that doesn''t help your feelings, just makes you feel guilty as well. The best way to look at it is that you are able to admit how you feel - and that is much healthier than trying to supress/deny it. It doesn''t make you a bad mother/person or mean you want the baby any less.

I always thought my mother loved being pg - she had 4 of us and wanted more (my father said no!). When I was talking to her the other week about how miserable I was with it all, she told me that she had never felt so ill in her life as when she was pregnant and every time she wondered what the heck she was putting herself through it all again for and swore it would be the last time!

CDT-Don''t feel bad! I''m going through the same thing and I''m overweight to begin with. I just find that my face looks swollen and I''m so bloated my pants won''t button. It''s annoying. I''m actually really nervous about going to FI''s parents house for Thanksgiving and am looking for a nice black outfit to wear to make me look a little slimmer.

Just keep reminding yourself that its all for the baby!

Weird the mom who wrote about it used it on Bumbos (not what I consider a big item) Maybe she just got lucky and the SA didn''t know. I agree the coupons are better too bad you could stack the discounts.
