Twin mamas, I heard on a baby saving site something about BRU having a twin discount (when you buy two of the same item). Obviously I have never tried it but you totally should ask about it next time you are there!

Yeah, it kind of sucks though. It''s only good on ''big'' items like cribs and strollers, and they told me there are restrictions even on that. AND you have to buy two of the exact same thing, no color changes, etc. And it can''t be combined with other offers, so since it''s only 10% it''s not really worth it for much IMO.

Weird the mom who wrote about it used it on Bumbos (not what I consider a big item) Maybe she just got lucky and the SA didn''t know. I agree the coupons are better too bad you could stack the discounts.

Interesting...that''s good to know! The sales associates at BRU are generally clueless, so it''s entirely possible that one of them was wrong. I really hate BRU so much that once she told me the twin discount wouldn''t apply to most of the things I would actually need to buy double of, I haven''t really been back.

Thanks so much Tacori, Pandora and Fiery! You really made me feel better. It''s nice to hear that I''m not a horrible person for feeling this way. I guess I just wasn''t prepared for my body to change so much so soon. I guess like Tacori, I''m on of the lucky ones
20.gif
I''m short and pear shaped, so I didn''t think I would look like one of those cute preggo''s, but it''s definitely hit me harder than I expected. Like you said, Pandora, if it was just belly I could deal w/ it, but that''s definitely not the case w/ me. In fact, my pants still button fine, it''s the thunder thighs and bubble butt I could do without
3.gif

Tacori - you are stronger than i! I don''t know how I''ll handle people making comments. I''ve gotten comments in the past from people about my body (not preggo!!) and I''ve never taken it well. I just don''t get why people feel they can/should say anything to someone about their appearance??? I would never do that, so I just can never understand the thought process of someone who says things...so weird!

Really thanks so much for making me feel better ladies. I''ll definitely just have to take it one day at a time.

Im beginning to think some of my posts pull a disappearing act..o well..here I go again:
So I was going to look into the chicco and all then my friend (who''s baby is 2mos) called and said ..btw don''t buy carseats bc I have 2 infant ones that I won''t need soon one is a graco and the other some even flow I think..one pink and other green(perfect for boy n girl lol)...so im torn do I take hand-me-downs esp in terms of car seats and I don''t know if those are good ones or not..what 2 do??

The DNA shows are HILARIOUS. Guilty pleasure.

My midwife also recommended an infant bucket seat over just getting a convertible, although she said that a convertible will do if you can''t afford both. Before deciding on one, I''d recommend going somewhere like Babys R Us that lets you take the carseats out and try them in your car. We took my car (smaller than hubby''s) and the Graco Safeseat doesn''t fit unless we move the fronts seats WAY up, to the point that there''s no leg room for us. The Keyfit is snug but fine. That''s what we''re going with. I like the higher weight/height limit.

The official word is "no" on the used car seats, but that''s really just because you can''t guarantee that it hasn''t been in an accident if you haven''t been the only one owning it. If you trust your friend that they haven''t been in an accident, and think that those models are safe enough, I personally don''t see a problem with just using them.

DD, I''m also measuring ahead and pretty sure on dates. We''re both taller, so it makes sense that our babies would be larger and also that our bodies would be built for birthing them. It''s actually funny that you posted that, because I was a little disappointed today that a couple of the measurements were actually on target or only a couple days ahead. (Most are still ~6 days ahead.) It ruins my husband''s plan of having the BIGGEST BABY EVER. He was predicting a 400 lb birthweight, and now I''m going to have to tell him that he might be mistaken.

CDT, I struggled with the same thing. It''s better now that I''m showing. And I have people telling me that I''m all belly and haven''t gained anywhere else, which I love because it makes me feel good and it''s totally not true. I wear my husband''s underwear sometimes because so many of mine don''t fit my growing butt. Time helps. Exercising does too for me, because it reminds me that my body is healthy and can move and feel good.

Pandora, what a bleep.

I''m going to be self absorbed for a minute here. I''m 20 weeks, and have belly shots:

Oh! And hubby finally felt the baby move last night. My m/w tried to find its heartbeat using the fetoscope at my appointment last night then said that she thought she might hear it, but wasn''t sure, but that she could definitely feel it kicking her. She found it instantaneously with the doppler. So that made 2 people who felt it before hubby. He didn''t seem to care one iota though - he kept saying that he knew he would feel it eventually.

Big ultrasound today. Gender is still a surprise. The tech didn''t give me any indication about whether the baby looks okay, but she said that the OB will have theiir report in 3-5 days. When she was measuring my cervix, it was right by the baby''s head. She made a comment later about how the baby just wanted to lodge its head down there and didn''t want to move it. She then had problems figuring out where my placenta ended, because the baby''s head was in the way. I asked her if that meant the placenta was low, and she said yes. I asked her if it was covering the cervix, and she said that she was pretty sure that it''s not. I''m pretty sure that she eventually decided that there''s about a centimeter between then. I may need to have another u/s later in pregnancy (m/w says at 34-36 weeks - I called her immediately afterwards) to verify that the placenta''s not covering the cervix. If it is close, it has a ton of time to move and will most likely correct itself. I just felt bummed for a little bit about that.

Creepy looking baby:

cdt, I am a pretty laid back person and it was hard not to lash back. But since it was DH''s family I held it in but he got VERY upset and dealt with it for me. The ironic thing is I gained all but 8-10 lbs the *LAST* 20 weeks (I have always been a late bloomer
2.gif
) and the comments were before I hit my peak so to speak. Oh well. I am short too and my belly was so huge and round it looked fake! STRANGERS commented and talked about me. I am not kidding. I am still trying to lose the lasts 10 lbs *sigh* but she''s worth it. It sounds cheesy but if I had my choice of my pre baby body (I never worried about my weight) or this mess with Tessa it''s a no brainer! But us short girls got it rough for sure! I was in preggo pants at 8 weeks b/c of bloat (even though I was down 3 lbs). I know it easier said than done but please try not to worry. What goes on CAN come off and it''s not like you are being lazy and binging...you are having a baby! Pregnancy ain''t pretty but it is worth it. I was seriously my ugliest EVER!

Re Weight Yup, it sucks! I have gained pretty steadily and more than I wanted to gain (like Tacori said, I am not sure there is much you can do, women vary on this so much!!). The thing that I found worked WONDERS was to stop trying to wear your old clothing if it makes you feel like crap... go buy some maternity clothing or other clothes that make you feel good and pretty... I like dresses and tops that are empire waisted and flow away from the bumpy bits. I feel much better about myself wearing clothing that is as flattering as possible. And I can''t tell you what a difference it made to wear things that weren''t too tight or pulling funny etc. Unfortunately, the 12 weeks to about 20 weeks is a bad time when you just look fat--unless you are lucky like Blenheim and have such a nice bump so soon!! Jealous here! For myself, I called that phase "Tubby"
20.gif
During that time I tried to just avoid mirrors and not spend too much time staring at myself, it isn''t useful and just leads to bad thoughts. And it isn''t nice to be mean to yourself over appearances, there is nothing you can do. You wouldn''t be judgemental or mean to your pregnant friend, so anything you can do to avoid being mean to yourself is a good thing!

But now that I have a proper belly it is a lot easier. I still like the things that are empire waisted and flow away from the body a lot, and I feel full and lovely, even though I know I am quite large. I try to take time each day to look at myself in the mirror naked and appreciate the changes in my body, because I think the pregnancy changes look best in low lighting with no clothing: larger breasts, round belly... it is all very "fertility goddess"
2.gif
.

Anyhoo, go buy some clothing that fits your new body. It will help lots!

DD, that is a good point about getting clothes that fit you. Remember that post delivery too! I did tell my friend who''s DH is an OB how much I gained and she said "don''t worry...he has seen double that!) Made me feel better to know I am not the world record holding in gaining the most during pregnancy!

I saw pictures of you when you were preggo and thought you looked lovely... we are always our own worst critics. I am on track to gain a "good amount"

too... oh well!

You may be right about the height size thing... my m/w said she is leaving my official "due date" blank on my chart because it isn't totally clear! This came up when I was puzzling over whether it was possible I ovulated almost a week earlier and we had a good laugh. She said she tends to be a little cautious of going too far over, so she mentioned that if I am not in labour by the ovualtion-based due date she will probably have me go in for another u/s to see how everything looks, just to be sure that I am not actually overdue at that point. This surprised me, but she is not induction happy and I know a couple of her patients who went a week or more over without any pressure to induce, so I am okay with her being a little cautious about the dates. I know with almost any other caregiver they would have just moved my EDD ahead 6 days because of the u/s. and charting be damned! So I am happy she is trusting me despite the "evidence" haha

blen love those pics! so cute..both belly and baby

so am i look at "popping" around 20 weeks?? cant wait.

Depends on how much "padding" you have, the more padding the longer it takes to look preggers. But with twins you''ll probably pop earlier than most! I did anyway.

And to answer your carseat question, they usually do say no to used carseats. But if they are relatively new (so within current safety standards) and you trust that your friend hasn''t been in an accident with them I don''t think there is a problem. Also make sure to check the "use by" date on the bottom.

Neat- yeh im not a fan of used stuff but I just don''t know how to say no and not sound ungrateful or mean. And I think someone else gave her the carseats as well don''t think she bought them so that makes me even more weary. And she was tellin me shed give me her basinett that someone gave her...ugh will have to think of some good excuses.

And of course I have lots of padding and will probably just look like I''ve gained more weight...sucky.

So does thumb sucking begin in utero lol? So many u/s pics with thumb sucking..2 cute!

Neat-can u send me a link to the snap n go and the chicco?

CDT--re: weight. I don''t think there is a preggo woman out there who could honestly say they didn''t have at least one self-conscious moment. I really did not like being preggo, i wanted to be, but i felt insecure and awful most of the time. Weird thing is, i can see a friend or stranger who is pregnant and I always, always think they look beautiful. Point being, as others have noted, we are our biggest critics and of course it is only natural to be less than thrilled when you are one size one week and then just weeks later, much, much larger.
Some things to keep in mind... Water retention: My thighs felt like sausages (along with my butt, face, calves etc.) but surprisingly *a lot* of that disappears shortly after delivery. Also, i had a ferocious appetite in the first tri and gained 12 lbs! I panicked and thought i would keep gaining more and more each tri as you are supposed to, but i did not, i slowed to a halt in the 3 tri, So don''t assume you will be hugely overweight based on what happens in the first tri.
Finally, it''s hard to believe, but you probably won''t care about your body quite as much post-baby. Or at least you''ll be more forgiving of it....

I would def. say no if someone else gave her them. Not worth the risk. Just say thanks but no thanks.

DD, awww... thank you! I certainly did not feel lovely.

Plus I had the greasy hair/acne thing going on. Like they say, girls "steal your beauty." Must be why she is so pretty b/c she took her toll! Haha.

blen, cute belly and U/S pics. The 20 week scan was my fav.

I''m feeling a little better today. I decided to bust out a pair of maternity cords I bought at the gap, so I don''t feel like my thighs are as restricted now. I know I just have to take it one day at a time and try not to beat myself up about it. But I really do appreciate all of you for putting things in perspective for me. Especially the ladies who have been thru it already (Tacori and Jas).

Jas - I''m glad to hear someone else gained a lot in the first tri! I''m literally hungry EVERY hour, but I try to keep my snacks reasonable (yogurts, fruit). So I know I''m not going overboard, but man does this kid LOVE to eat! I think some of my issues are water retention because I have wanted a lot of salty things. Sausages are a good way to decribe my thighs right now
9.gif

Blen - cute belly and baby

I can''t wait to actually have a belly and not just a fat tummy! I swear I''m showing already, but I know it''s just bloat.

My stomach used to be really flat, so even my DH thinks I''m showing. He came home yesterday and the first words out of his mouth were "Wow you really look pregnant now"
20.gif
I"m like NOPE, just bloated and fat! hehehe...I know he didn''t mean it in a bad way, but considering the day I was having it made me cry. I can laugh about it today though.

Hi Girls! I missed a lot yesterday it seems!

About the weightgain. I find that if I'm wearing proper clothing (nothing too tight in the wrong places) then I feel ok. It's when I have something ill-fitting that I get low self-esteem. Don't worry though....i think we all go through it and its natural.
2.gif

Blen - you have the cutest belly!!! Thanks for posting. I'm going to guess BOY for you, soley based on the shape of your belly. How tall are you anyways?

DD - adorable u/s pics!! Hopefully the placement of your placenta works its self out. I'm really hoping for the best for you...

Now, I have to get a little self-centered. Yesterday I spent the entire day on my feet; working at the flower shop, and then at my BFFs baby shower. I was so tired afterwards - dizzy in fact. This morning, my spotting has increased to "light" and the brown in more like, red-brown. Like the old crayola color "Indian red". What should I do?
8.gif

I'm trying not to worry because I know spotting in pregnancy is normal, but with all the stress of this past week with my employers, yesterdays physical day, and the knowledge that I have a "medium" size hematoma has me slightly worried.

Call the middie???

Mela 14 weeks today.

Mela 14 weeks today.
Mela, if you are feeling worried then call them. It''s probably all fine, but reassurance is aways good.

Sorry you are having a bad time right now - try and take it easy over the weekend.

I feel like a criminal - I told lies and got my meds.
11.gif

I must have looked really guilty as the girl gave me a bit of an odd look. Mind you, I''m one of these people who ticks profile boxes and so gets stopped in every airport.

It''s DH''s birthday today and he has asked me to make sushi for dinner. So I have bought lots of lovely fish and I''m going to stuff myself stupid.

Mela- can''t hurt to call the middie and have it checked out for peace of mind. But u have to slow down and take it easy girl! U can''t be doing the same things u did b4 preggers...on ur feet all day is no good. Stop that!

Blen-great shots!

Cdt-Glad to hear you are feeling better about the weight. My coworker is also very fit with a flat tummy and when she got pregnant, she popped almost immediately. But she would just wear really great maternity shirts and she looked adorable.

Mela-You can always call the middie especially if it''ll make you feel better. But I agree that you have to slow down a bit. I would take this weekend to just be in bed watching movies.

For those with body issues I promise that it gets better once you''ve popped and don''t feel like you are just hiding extra chub anymore. Once the outside world sees you are preggers it feels better for some reason. Also, I totally agree with wearing maternity clothes. Once you switch and are comfy you''ll feel better too. And my last bit of advice is don''t wear your husbands old shirts or baggy maternity clothes. Buy some cute somewhat form fitting clothes and you''ll feel much cuter IMO. Works wonders for the self-esteem.

Mela I think calling the midwife in this situation is fine! I know I would! Generally speaking, it is totally safe to be just as active preggo as not--it may even be good for you since you are getting excercise just being up and about--but you certainly don''t want to push it too hard! With your hematoma, it is not surprising that being on your feet "shook loose" some of the blood. I mean, isn''t a hematoma kind of like a bloody bruise in the uterus?
14.gif
Pandora had one too on one of her early u/s scans, if I recall correctly. I am willing to bet it was nothing and you are totaly fine, but call the midwife to be sure and stay off your feet as much as possible today. (PS those were Blenheim''s u/s pics, I know you just got the names mixed up...)

I agree totally, especially with the highlighted part. I call it being "socially pregnant", which I think I finally became in the last couple weeks. So nice to know that others look at you big belly and think, "Oh, how nice, a pregnant woman!" rather than thinking, "Hmmm... has she been hitting the icecream a little hard?"

Thanks for the reassurance girls. You all are saying what I feel, sit tight, rest, relax.
So. that is what I will do.

I''ll keep ya posted. Thanks again!

Wow dreamer...25 weeks!

Blen - Your belly is adorable. I love keeping up with you because you''re 3 weeks ahead of me and I get to see what to look forward to!

cdt - I gained 10 lbs in my first and I''m up about 13 now I think. I feel like I''m really packin it on. What''s strange is where I''m feeling the weight gain. Mostly in my arms!! When I walk and swing my arms, I feel them rubbing against my sides and it''s so gross feeling. Kind of like when your thighs get bigger and start rubbing together, but I''ve never had this big of an issue with my arms!!

Pandora - mmmm sushi. Have some salmon for me!

17 weeks, 1 day!
