Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

or Gigi could be a really cute, saucy little nickname!

Sadly it isn''t something I can probably do anything about at the moment - but I can use it in court.

Apparently my immediate boss feels terrible about it and really didn''t want to do it. I don''t actually hold him responsible for any of this - he''s just the sap that has to ''action'' everything - he''s a nice person but a bit spineless IMHO.

Have to wait till Monday to speak to my lawyer. Grrr.

In the meantime am majorly PO''d as the migraine I''ve had for the last 2 days and seemed to be on it''s way out has come back with a vengeance. DH and I were also meant to be going xmas shopping today (I had lots of 20% off vouchers for big stores) and the news about my salary has put that on hold.

I think Christmas might just get cancelled this year - I do not feel goodwill towards all men in the slightest!

Wow, lots of news on here over the holiday!

Blen, sorry to hear about the potentially troubling u/s. I''ll be sending lots of good thoughts your way! If it''s any consolation, I asked my dh, a med. student, what he thought, and he said it''s probably nothing and it isn''t likely to be Down''s unless there are multiple soft markers.

Lindsey, congrats on the girl!!!! And I love the diaper bag! I hope you''ll get to feel her moving lots even with the placenta as a buffer!

Mela, I really love that first stroller cover! Gorgeous!

Neat, so glad your bp lowered! It''s so exciting how close you are!

NYC, sorry all the twin questions are bugging you! Just wait till your two are old enough to be asking about it themselves!

Pandora, so sorry your employers are being such poopheads. I know it''s hard, but try to stay positive! It sounds like it''s a blessing that you are getting out now, and hopefully once everything is all straightened out you will never have to think about them again!

Still pregnant here (4 weeks, 2 days), and still not telling anyone! It''s lots harder to be around family and not tell them than to just not telling them on the phone! I survived Thanksgiving without drinking, which wasn''t too hard since I don''t often drink more than one glass of wine around my inlaws anyway. I do have a prengant rant of the day though! When I''m visiting family, we go out to eat A LOT! I don''t like drinking water when I''m out since I think most of it tastes weird (I know it''s probably in my head, but I have issues with water), so normally I would order diet coke/pepsi with dinner because I HATE the empty calories of regular soda. Well, now I''m not drinking caffeine, and no restaurants have diet and caffeine free sodas! Haha, to top it off, we''re staying with my dad, who normally stocks cases of diet pepsi and diet sierra mist, so I thought at least there I could drink some diet sierra mist without feeling guitly, but instead, this time he has a case of diet mountain dew, so NOT caffeine free! I know it''s no big deal really, I just think it''s funny how many little things I''m trying to stay aware of all the time now!

Sabine have you tried soda water with cranberry? No coffein, no aspertame (which is nice to avoid, just because additives are an unknown commodity) and yummy!

sabine: i carry a plastic bottle of either water with lemon in it ..or ...seltzer with lime...mmmm soooo good u should try that if u like soda. oh and sprite doesnt have caffeine
2.gif
ive learned to try to work my way around the whole caffeine thing (even though i miss my snapples badly!) good luck!

so today i am the birthday girl../.the BIG 26 lol
6.gif
...my sister got me such a cute litle picture frame and cute the pics of the u/s''s out and put them there and a card from the babies themselves! it was so cute i couldnt help but cry
39.gif

i spent the entire morning with bff at kleinfelds trying on her wedding dress but that was fun.

Pandora - I feel like such a jackas$ that I completely ''missed'' your post about your employers being such REAL Jerkstores!!! Not the jerkstores found here. no no. Real. Live. Jerkstores. Urgh. It''s so funny how companies all of a sudden come up with these demands when they feel they are getting the short end of the stick, huh? Like, why now is it so dyer for you to return to work? urgh. Hang in there. hopefully your lawyer can shed some light on this and offer up a good solution (where it hurts them). So sorry that you''re dealing with this. Honestly. It''s supposed to be a happy time of year. Hope the Migrane passes.

NYC - HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!! 26!! You''re so young (I say that in a nice way
17.gif
) Enjoy this very exciting year to come!!!

Lindsey - UM! I LOVE THAT BAG!!!!!!!!!!! Wow. yummers. Great score! I know diaper bag will become my full-on obsession once I (finally) make a decision on a stroller. I know we''re going for the Bugagoo Cameleon. The issue is colour. Even though Black is the ''safe'' choice with the longest lasting appeal, I''ve reached an ''oversaturation'' with Black lately. (see winter coat above as proof! lol ) DH wants red. He has a maje hard-on for red. red. red. red. So....I foung these online which soften the red for me:

ps. will this clash too much with my hot pink winter jacket?! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh the vanity.

Mela 15 weeks today!
I decided to distract myself last night and today and have been doing major baby stuff research - I know I swore I wouldn''t... but I was weak!

Mela, too funny you''re going for the Bugaboo Cameleon. I''m seriously eyeing up the Bugaboo Bee. I like the Cameleon as well, but the Bee is probably more practical in central London.

I was thinking about the red option - but the one I really like is the yellow (my favourite colour). I think yellow might show marks too much - and not go with much though...

This is the main body...

Here''s the cocoon that fits in it for newborns...

Oops - here it is:

PanBugabooBeeNesYellow.jpg

This is the crib I''m planning to get:

We''re planning to have the baby in our room for the first 6 months or so, so I wanted a small crib that would fit next to our bed and would be handy for BF at night. In the UK they recommend ''co-sleeping'' for the first 3-6 months as a way of reducing SIDS - it also means you get more sleep at night!

This one has 12 different heights so you can line it up with your mattress. When you''re not in the room, you just pull the side up and it''s a normal cot.

It''s quite expensive sadly

Pandora I know everyone is all about the bugaboo (and I loved it too initially) but in Europe you have SO MANY AMAZING STROLLERS! I wouldn''t settle for the bugaboo just yet. You guys literally have hundreds of high end strollers that we miss out on here, check them out!

This is the full-size cot I like - it''s a new product, so I''m hoping that they might bring out a version that can be turned into a cot-bed when the child is bigger.

Both the crib and this cot are in solid birch - the crib comes in a white version as well which I would probably opt of instead of the wood.

I had a look at loads last night, but these definitely seemed to get better reviews.

DH and I are going to go and look in person at as many as possible - he wants to test-drive them
20.gif
... before we buy anything. From what I saw the bugaboo is likely to be in our top 5 though. Some of the high-end ones are serious £££.

We had a quick try-out in John Lewis (huge high-end department store) and the only other one that appealed was the Quinny. I didn't like any of the Maclaren range or the Graco's.

My mother had one of the HUGE Silver-Cross prams that you can put 2 babies in when we were little (was also my father's pram) - she lent it to a friend who left it outside for a whole winter and wrecked it sadly. My sister had the identical doll's version which was super-cute when she was about 7.

nycbk, I looked at the brand you were asking me about - the emmaljunga, and the reviews weren't great (better for the twin strollers than the singles - but other brands got better reviews: a brand called 'Phil andTed' seemed to get a lot of positive comments).

Pandora- out of al strollers for twins the emmaljunga definitley looks the best and seems to fit my need ..especially about not being too bulky..so I wil most likely order it from uk once I am ready. But I didn''t look at the singleton ones so maybe they aren''t as great but I agree europe has such a great variety! Bugaboos are so popular here and im not that into them but perhaps they are comfy. The crib is really nice!

Mela- thanks for b-day wishes...I had a nice time with people I care about and some I don''t!...my MIL showed up uninvited with flowers (we don''t speak)...and lets just say that didn''t go well with me! But luckily she left right away..ugh some people have lots of nerve!!

Anyway..glad ur still hangin in there neat ;)

My Public Service Announcement for the day:

If someone is kind (or mean!) enough to make you a diaper cake for your baby shower, take it apart right away. Do not wait until you are uncomfortably large to do it, it''s a lot of work!

I am WIPED and all I did was take apart the last layer of my diaper cake and put some baby clothes away. Sheesh!

Aww, that''s a shame. Now what exaclty is a diaper cake Neat??

Exactly what it sounds like. Someone wraps up hundreds of diapers (each one individually rolled and secured with a clear hair elastic) then they put many of the rolled diapers together to form a cake layer and then stack the layers on top of each other! It''s very cute, but a PITA to take apart.

This was mine:

P1010027323432.jpg

Pandora I like the bee, but one complaint that I read was that the seat area is not overly large, so if your baby is tall or wide, it isn''t as comfy as it could be... but that may not be a biggie, I didn''t test-drive it much because for the light-weight strollers like that we really liked the baby Jogger City Mini which was much less $$.

Neat, that diaper cake was huge! No wonder you were wiped out! Other than that, how are you feeling these days?

I''m so excited!!! While at dh''s parent''s house, some of dh''s hs buddies came over, including his bf and his wife with their 4 month old Maya. Not only did I get to hang out with the baby and hold her, we also unexpectedly got to see how our pup reacts to a baby. We were expecting to leave her upstairs while we were all downstairs, but then dh''s sister had a friend over with her 2 dogs, and we had to take our dog downstairs since she doesn''t get along with other dogs all that well. I was really worried about how our dog Brandy would do around a baby since she is TERRIFIED of EVERYTHING! But she did really well! She would look at the baby and tilt her head when Maya cried, but she didn''t run away or get scared. When I held Maya she didn''t get jealous, and Maya was even kicking her and she didn''t even react. This is very good news for us since Brandy has some issues (she was a rescue) and we were really worried that she would get jealous of either of us holding a baby.

Unfortunately, the evening took a sour note due to my overly sensitive emotions. A few of the people who were over were dh''s bachelor buddies, and they started making jokes about dh''s bachelor party. They were joking around, first only about how dh''s cousins wanted to go to a strip club, but then they were saying that dh disappeared with a hooker for a few hours, etc. I know they were just kidding, but it was really bugging me. I tried to just ignore them, but they kept it up for a good 5 minutes straight. And then one of them turned to me and said, you know Jess, I think it was your dad that called the hooker, he had her number on speed dial, and I had just had enough, so I said, I''m sorry, but I don''t find this particularly funny. Awkward silence ensued, and the night ended shortly after. I felt bad because I know they didn''t really mean anything by the joking, and then dh was upset that he didn''t say anything to stop them sooner, and dh doesn''t get to see these guys very often, but I''m trying not to let it bother me since it''s not like I flipped out at them or anything, I just told them how I honestly felt.

Sabine Girl I would have said much worse to those guys and sooner too, and that has nothing to do with being preggo! That''s just disrespectful of them. I think you were right to say something if it was bothering you, and poo on them for thinking it is funny to joke about prostitution
20.gif
... my DH has some neaderthal friends who I am not wild about, so I just skip it when he wants to hang out with them, which isn''t all that often. Some women may find that type of conversation funny, but I am not one of them! And yippee for finding that out about your dog! Our Dreamer is similar (rescue, "issues" haha) and she also has no trouble with kids. Any opportunity you get to expose her to kids is probably good, though, so she isn''t surprised.

Baby jogger city mini? Buy it, buy it, buy it!

I posted on the mommies thread, but I''ll summarise here - I once laid my baby down in one in a store for a moment while I looked at something else, and she went straight to sleep. For the first time in just under 6 months. No way was I leaving the store without it.

She takes a nap twice a day now, in that stroller. My life is transformed. She is no longer resistant to daytime naps, plus she sleeps better at night as a result. I don''t know why, but she would never nap in / on anything else, including other very similar strollers.

The thing is a Godsend and I give thanks for it every day at around 11.00 and 15.00!

lol that is one great testimonial mrs. mitchell!

which store did you see the stroller in? the stores that the baby jogger website directed me to didn''t seem to carry it in stock when i called them up.

I think Mrs.Mitchell may not be in the US? Nor am I... I loved that stroller and posted about it in the "Baby stuff" thread, including links to videos.

dd - your post re: the stroller was exactly what prompted me to look for it in the US. it''s super cute and seems like a good fit for what i need - so thanks for the review! i''ll call up a few other stores to see if i can find it in stock so i can test drive it.

Neat - that diaper cake was pretty impresive!! Too bad it was a PITA.

Pandora - love your baby stuffs! I like the Bee too (and I LOVE the yellow - you should go for it
31.gif
), but we're looking for something that we can go 'off roading' with in High Park (kinda like Toronto's smaller version of Central Park). We live 9 houses away. I looked into the co-sleeper cribs here, but a lot of stores don't sell them because (apparently) there are some risks?! Something about the baby falling in between the crib and the bed. I dunno. Have you heard any such stories?

I have some red ITCHY ITCHY ITCHY bumps starting on the side of my body. Sigh. Can I not escape ONE side-effect of pregnancy??? I have to show my middie, but I'm really hoping this is not the start of those terrible itchy pregnancies you hear about. I have been very itchy for about 2 weeks now, but the bumps just started yesterday.

On the bright side, I haven't had any spotting in 3 days!!!!!!!!

Lots of online places have it and have free shipping... you can always return it if you hate it, which I cannot imagine

The only thing about it is that it isn''t as "substantial" as the larger strollers, being only 16lbs, and so it is definitely a lighter-weight one, not for off-roading!

27 weeks today!

My friend had the itchy rash thing... I really hope that isn''t what you have! Were you snuggling your dogs too much? Maybe it is from them

Awe, Mela, sorry you are itchy!

I have a question about baby name resources. I just browsed a site that boasted 27000 names, and made a list of my favorites, and then compared it to popular baby names, and almost ALL of my favorite names are really popular. I''m trying to get creative and search for some NOT popular names, but all the sites I find only have these really weird names. Any suggestions on finding not overused normal names?

So far, my top favs are Madison (way too popular), Madeline, Aubrey (dh hates it), Riley, Kaylie, Mackenzie, Rosalie, and Evangeline. I know, they are all girl names, but I think we already have a possible boy''s name picked out.

It''s hard for sure. This website is amusing: http://www.babynamegenie.com/

As is this one: http://nameberry.com/

Something I found helpful was to look at the origin of each name I liked, then find a list of names from that place. Often I liked more than one of them because they had similar sounds or used similar letters.
