Ahhhh... sounds like big boobie pain perhaps, or shifting posture from the change in gravity
2.gif
. You don''t need to suffer and pain meds aren''t the only answer... have you ever been to a physiotherapist? They are amazing at helping you figure out what is causing the pain and they give your excercises that I personally have found work wonders for back pain. You should try that!
Thanks! I will try that. I was actually considering going swimming but as Florida usually is, one day its hot the next its cold. I''m hoping it''ll be warm in the Keys this weekend to go for a swim!

My mom thinks its posture pain too
3.gif
.
I actually get that occassionally when I sit at my desk too long... and I have one of those round lumbar pillows too! Excercise really helps for me, so get swimming gal!

Here''s a comparison shot with 5 weeks ago... last time I took one, actually, bad baby-mama! Actually, has anyone seen the movie Baby-Mama? It is great!

LOL. We complain when it hits 60 here. It''s about 70 and I have on a turtleneck! And this is coming from someone that grew up with snow! LOL

Weather in February is usually really, really great but FL is very unpredictable. I would suggest the Keys for hanging out by the pool since if its warm in Miami, its even warmer in the Keys but they don''t really have beaches. I mean there are beaches where you can go jet skiing and other water sports but no spots to just tan. Miami is great! Fort Lauderdale even better (if you want a more relaxing time). Naples is also beautiful and Sanibel Island has beautiful beaches! Hopefully you can make it down for the weekend!!

DD-You look beautiful! I love your tops!

adorable belly dd! no mistaking that definitely looks like a preggo tummy :)

Random question: does anyone know if Spanx comes in the form of nylons as well? I want to wear nylons with my dress for the wedding this weekend and was thinking about wearing spanx to keep everything smooth.

hey fiery - thanks for the Florida suggestions! We''re looking at Naples currently, but I''ll show DH your suggestions too.
2.gif

I don''t know about the Spanx, but I''ve heard some whisperings that it''s not *the best* to squeeze your midsection too much. Light control tops is probably ok, but nothing with too much pressure - ya know?! I''ve never worn a spanx, so I have no idea what their squeeze-factor is.

Mela, where did you hear that about pantyhose? Just curious because my doc swears it is fine.

Fiery My doc said spanx are fine as are pantyhose if you can get them to fit. He said that girdles, etc. are a bit too strong in his opinion but that you really aren't going to squish anything, similar to sleeping on your stomach still, not going to squish anything yet! They make maternity spanx as well...which are much more comfortable but also don't control the front of the belly at all. You could always do thigh highs if you are worried about it.

I wear maternity nylons all the time and LOVE them.

I haven''t heard anything specifically against spanx or nylons - just that its not that advisable to wear anything TOO tight around the middle whereby you''re being squeezed. So, no girdles (naturally) or any too tight waistbands. Thats all

mela- ooo ok i guess i missed the posts that it was bff''s shower lol..it still looked beautiful and fun!

DD- cute cute! i cant wait for a belly like that..now i just have a big top belly and smaller lower..so weird but i can wait i know its early

i really need maternity pantyhose or nylons for the wedding in january but i will probably have a harder time bc i need plus-size maternity everything
14.gif

NYC I wear plus size maternity and got my tights at Motherhoodmaternity (they have a website). They are great! Just be warned that the sizing of them on the label is WRONG--supposedly the size I got is for pre-preggo weights of 240lbs and greater, which I was NOT. In the end I ordered 1X and it was perfect, I was a size 16 pre-pregnancy and I am 5''7", if this helps.

DD-Thanks for the note on getting the tights from motherhood. I''m plus size too so I''ll try the 1x.

I was wondering if you ladies could share an example of what you eat on a daily basis. I realized today that I had absoultey no fruit or anything green yesterday
14.gif
. I really, really need to start writing down what I''m eating or make a meal plan for myself the night before (and stick to it!)

Thanx DD- I will def hop on that site..I was also a 16 but im 5''2"
7.gif
I think its harder to find nice maternity clothes in plus sizes.

Fiery, I''ve found that it helps me to get in my fruit by bringing snack cups to work. I like the apple sauce and mandarine orange ones. I try to have a snack every few hours.

I do this too. I also try to eat a fruit of a veggie every time I have a snack, and I eat about 6 times a day I''d say. That seems to get it all in!

typical day--but I am in the third tri and find I need a little more food now, I am also vegetarian:
breakfast: bran mixed with go lean cereal (high protein) with milk and an apple and 1 toast; maybe an egg mcmuffin with no meat some days
snack: banana or apple & PB sandwich or a muffin
lunch: soup and half a sandwich, fruit cup
snack: nuts mixed with dried fruits, small yogurt cup
dinner: whatever, you know how this one goes! Typically lots of veggies/legumes. Except when we have pizza. haha
snack: large glass of 50/50 skim milk and chocolate milk & apple

Throw in a glass of juice somewhere in there, a couple more glasses of milk, and usually something treaty like a choc bar or some candies. I don''t know how balanced this is and I haven''t counted calories, I eat when I am hungry, but my energy is good and my bloodwork is good. My weigh gain is on the higher end of normal so far.

Thanks girls. I''ve been drinking a lot of milk and having OJ but I barely snack and I should.

NYCBK-I was a 16 too pre-pregnancy (still am) and 5''3. I actually went into Lane Bryant the other day and bought a few tops that fit kind of loose now but stretch enough to grow in. They''re not maternity shirts but they''re nice shirts. I figured they''ll do until I can''t help but buy maternity shirts.

DD,

Love that baby in there!! SO cute!!

And yay for baby bonding!!

Dreamer, such a cute belly shot! I have belly envy!

My q of the day...should I be eating more than usual already, or should I just eat when I''m hungry? I''m guessing I should just eat when I''m hungry, but I worry because I''ve always had a few food issues, and I don''t want this to be my excuse to just pig out. I''m hungry a lot, but that is normal for me, so I don''t want to restrict myself either...

Thanks fiery- I actually don''t know what happened to lane bryant..they used to have nice stuff but now I can''t find a single thing I like but I will try to buy some things just in a bigger size and see how that goes.

Well if you are obsessive about it, you need about 100 extra calories in the first tri. But if you are less obsessive about it, eat when you are hungry. You will gain what you gain, seems to be a wide variety and worrying about it has no impact on your actual gains.

ETA re: belly envy... it took over 6 MONTHS of looking fat to finally get this belly! Eat your heart out!

Today I went to the fetal medicine specialist for what I thought was just another MCA dopplar ultrasound (because of the Rh incompatibility) and she said "today''s the big day, we''re doing the level II US." I freaked out because I thought my normal OB was going to do it at my appointment at 20 weeks. Honestly it worked out better that I was surprised, that way I couldn''t fret about it all week! All of the anatomy and organs looked good which is great. Also the MCA Doppler reading was great, which means that my Rh antibodies are not affecting the baby yet, the blood flow to the brain is perfectly normal. Even though everything looks great, he is kicking up my ultrasounds to every 2 weeks to make sure that things stay that way, which is fine by me. I''ll be seeing him every two weeks, my normal OB every four weeks -- this feels like a lot of appointments! But I was really worried about the Doppler US results, especially since one if the techs was being trained on it, and at first she got the reading wrong and was like "wow this is really high" and I was of course instantly in tears. But the specialist came in, re-did the reading, and everything was fine. Whew!

Andddd I figured I would add some belly pics! Me at 17 weeks. I feel like I am showing a lot, maybe because I''m 5''1?

Cute, Miss Lindsey!!!

Glad to hear about the good dr. visit!!

Awe, everyone has such cute bellies!

I went to Curves today with my mom (we used to go every day, but I''ve been busy/slacking) and when I put on one of my t-shirts it was definitely noticeable that I''ve gained weight in the tummy area. Since I''m sure my mom is looking for signs that I''m pregnant again (I know she''ll say she already knew when we tell her
20.gif
) I grabbed one of DH''s shirts (mine are smalls and this was a large) and wore that. Honestly, I think it made me look bigger or at least like I was trying to hide something, but I made up a story about how I grabbed it by accident since all of our stuff is currently in the living room (due to painting the bedroom and getting new furniture) and she seemed to buy it. She even told me I''m looking skinny. Interesting...especially since I''m up 5 pounds since last month and a good 15 since the summer. At least my secret is safe for now.

Random question: when do you think it''s ok to use the expectant mother parking spots? I think I''d feel guilty to use one before I was "she''s pregnant no questions asked" showing.

Hubby received news this evening that his entire office is shutting down, which will mean no job for him starting in a week and a half. So, I''m the primary breadwinner for the time being. He should be able to file for unemployment though, and by my calculations he''ll qualify for the maximum amount for the maximum allowed time (6 mo). We also have about 6 months expenses in savings. We should be able to get by.

I''m so tempted to say screw this and and put our house on the market and start looking for jobs back "home" where there''s a higher chance of him finding a job and where we''re near family, but this would mean trying to sell a house in a horrible economy and looking for jobs with less than a year at my current company (which could look bad) and while pregnant and showing and having to negotiate for maternity leave that''s not covered by FMLA. Bah.

Personally I think you should only use them when it starts to get uncomfortable to walk around...unless it's a place that has a bazillion of them. Around here there only seems to be 1 or 2 and as a very very preggo woman I would get annoyed if someone who was barely even showing took the spot from me when I really could use it ya know?

Blen So sorry to hear about your DH''s job! Maybe it''s a sign that you are supposed to move back "home" before the baby is born! Lots of dust his way for a new job...

Has anyone doing any baby name thinking lately? The husband and I have been talking about it more and more now that we know that we're having a girl. It's become real -- we need to choose a name for our daughter! People in real life are no help -- they ask "so do you have a name picked out?" When I tell them, they think that's a pass to say "yeah, I knew someone named that who was a total jerk" or "yeah... I don't really like that name." LoL. So I've decided that once we pick our name, it will be a secret (at least IRL) until birth!

But I think that you ladies have great taste, so any suggestions/comments are welcome! Here are top choices:

1. Natalie Claire Chiesa (My last name is pronounced key-A-suh, it's italian.)

2. Natalie Jeanette Chiesa (Jeanette is my middle name)

3. Lauren Evangeline Chiesa

4. Lily Evangeline Chiesa

5. Clara Evangeline Chiesa

Those are our favorites so far, in no particular order. Definitely open to new suggestions for middle names, although I do love the name Evangeline. I don't know that it goes with Clara as well though. Any ideas?

Lindsey,
Love the names you are thinking of. But PLEASE remove your last name, you have no idea who is reading this. Just thinking of your own safety.
