Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Mela, I have to say, I wouldn''t pick Luna or Romeo just because of the literary associations. For Luna, I automatically think of Luna Lovegood, the somewhat crazy girl in the Harry Potter series, and Romeo, well that''s obvious! But I like the other ones, especially Gemma!

DD - sounds like a plan
2.gif
Fiona is my favorite of our 3 choices. Such a nice name! Good choice
9.gif

Mela - yeah I hear ya, I think it''s our last name that is making it hard for me to like something. For lack of a better way of saying this, names that are too ''white boy'' don''t sound right w/ our last name, but I don''t like latino sounding boy names. So we''re trying to find something that is inbetween. Of your names posted, I really like Aria Soliel for the girl, so so pretty! Love Luna also, but not w/ Lavender. I think the double L is throwing it off for me. I love both of your boy names, I actually have a cousin w/ the name Rocco (really itailian last name), but he was always called Rocky. I like Christian best w/ Romeo. Hope that helps!!

Sabine - thanks for the vote on Warren! And I agree w/ mela we need belly shots!!!

CDT-

I agree that Warren doesn''t seem lke a trendy name, that''s why I so surprised to meet two recently. I really don''t think it''s in danger of becoming too trendy at all, but sometimes these things sneak up out of nowhere, so I just wanted to mention it. Though one lives in Texas and one in California, so really, it''s not like I know three in one class or anything. I like it, it sounds "classic". Warren Thomas sounds like a Supreme Court Justice. Gavin Thomas is cute too, sounds like a poet or a rock star.

Your girls names are adorable! I agree, boy names are so much harder. I am the exact same way about other people''s names- I love so many, but when it comes to actually picking one, I get super picky. I just think it''s a much bigger commitment to actually give a child a name. It''s easy to love Landon or Grant on another kid, but much harder when you feel responsible!

Now see I am totally jealous of the Peruvian part- I LOVE Spanish names, and would love to be able to "authentically" use one. But my DH is so blond/blue eyed and the last name is German so it would be tricky. Funnily enough, his grandfather was 1/2 Mexican, so he really does have the lineage. I am still trying to work it in there somehow.
11.gif

Sabine - yah. Those literary associations kinda suck, especially because so many young people read Harry Potter so that is their only reference point.
14.gif
I only think of "Moon" which is what it means in Italian.

And Romeo will always get "Where's Juliet?". He'll have to come up with a witty comeback
11.gif
. It'll make him stronger, I figure.
3.gif

CDT - thanks for your input. That is helpful. My Mom is really pushing for Christian as the middle name. Luna Lavender does shorten to "LuLa" which I LOVE as a knickname.

Aria is one of my favorite names but DH isn't as wild on it as I am. I'm still working him on that one
16.gif

Mela- I think maybe like someone else said it''s the double L that reminds me of Luna Lovegood. For example. Luna Neve or something doesn''t connect in my head the same way. But of course, if Luna Lavender is your fave, carry on! I do like Romeo and I agree, Romeo Christian sounds good.

Sabine- Yeah, belly shots! I don''t really have any yet plus I am identity shy. The only one I took at 6 weeks doesn''t show anything obviously, and it has my face in it. And my dog, so if people know me IRL they would know it was me.

CDT - do you like ''Logan'' for a boy? It has the same ''ehn'' sounding last part as Gavin and Warren. ?!
I love all your girls names.
9.gif

mela - i do like Logan, my DH does not (damn him!
9.gif
) He makes this tough. You should hear some of the names he throws our there....oh man, yesterday he sent me a list w/ the names Thor and Blaze on there! Is our kid a superhero!!! Not to mention the endless names referencing Star Wars....he even suggested Chewey! oh it makes me want to cry
3.gif

And i agree w/ China, if Luna Lavender is your fav, then go w/ it!!! Your kid, your choice
9.gif

China - it''s funny how you want to use the latino names, but you feel like u can''t and I''m the opposite! I suppose that''s the way most things work in life
4.gif

All this talk of names is making me so excited though! I just love the little guy/gal inside me so much already and can''t wait to see what he''s going to look like and become...I just hope we get the name right!!!

tee hee. The name is SO HARD! Agreed.

Chewy. LOL. That is my brother's dog's name!!!!
3.gif

I have a few of those 'out there' ones, which I love: Rio, Lake, Onyx / Alouette, Peridot. DH looks at me CRAZY when I suggest them. lol.

At least your DH is suggesting things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband keeps going back to the SAME OLD names, which we've veto'd because they are too popular. Urgh. it's like going in circles with him.

****in his defense*** he DID come up with Lavender (He's Croatian and there is a lot of Lavender there....). That is the extent of the Croatian name 'influence' our kid's getting. haha.

Haha, okay, here's my "belly" shot, showing the shirt that I wore at 11 weeks that I will definitely not be wearing again until I am really showing due to all the comments I got, and me today at 14 weeks.

ETA, I probably only really have a bump at all because I'm only 5'1, so anything I gain doesn't really have anywhere else to go!

11ps1.jpg

SO CUTE Sabine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
31.gif
31.gif

I'm 5'1" too!! TWIIIIINS!

Also, I think that 11 weeks sweater is great. What did people say? That you looked super preggo in it?
33.gif

Mela- Ok, I had to go back and read your post about names, because I thought you were saying you were getting a mixed reaction b/c the names you had chosen were way more conservative than you were. And I kept wondering, if those are the conservative names, what are the creative names????
3.gif
Ok, now I get that the other people are the conservative ones! Cause I love your names, but they definitely aren''t conservative, and I don''t think in danger of becoming too trendy. Methinks you are safe!

Sabine- Oh how cute. Now that I see this picture, I must have seen pics of you before, maybe on BWW? Did you cut your hair? Before or after preggo? Ok, you are definitely showing more than me. I am only 5''4 but I guess that''s still 3 inches on you. I really thought I would balloon up quickly, but not so far. Though I am not complaining, I know I will have plenty of time to be big and showing, sometimes it makes me nervous that the lil bean isn''t growing. But of course, the wiggle-worm was right on target only a week ago, so have to remind myself of that.

I got my first baby gift the other day- and wow, it made it so real. A friend sent me the cutest thing, which I am totally giving out as gifts now. It''s a little onesie from Baby Gap, and they are organic and in neutral colors, but have zodiac signs on them. Mine is a Leo, so it''s a pale green and has a cute little lion on it, and underneath it says "Leo: Born Leader. Loves the Limelight". Sooo cute. Trying to paste link, not sure if it will work.

Hi Ladies,

I'm posting this from the bump. Check your prenatals!

Recall -- Firm Press Release

FDA posts press releases and other notices of recalls and market withdrawals from the firms involved as a service to consumers, the media, and other interested parties. FDA does not endorse either the product or the company.

ETHEX Corporation Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall Of Prescription Prenatal and Iron Supplements To Wholesale Level

Thank you, Fiery! Unfortunately, my prenatal is on that list.

Crapity crap.

How funny - I took pictures earlier today to send to my parents, because the last picture update they received was at 20 weeks. Oopsies. Anyway, since I have newly updated ones uploaded onto my computer, I will happily oblige Mela''s request!

NYC - I was thinking about you earlier today, and wondering if you were still taking it easy. I''m sorry to hear that you''re getting tired of bed, and completely understand. hang in there! Hugs.

China - I''ve noticed the X trend too, and people spelling names to include Xs that don''t traditionally have them in there - Jaxon, for example. But I don''t know how much Felix would be buoyed by that trend - it (1) sounds like "Feel licks" and (2) is associated with a cartoon cat, both of which work against it. I really like it though. It was actually on our short list, but ultimately the other names flowed better with our last name.

Pandora, I hope that everything went well with you today!

CDT - I love your girl names! I really like Warren, but I''m also a sucker for grandpa names. Since you like Lyla, what do you think of Lyle for a boy?

Mela - Since you said you can take it... Luna (Lovegood) Lavender (Brown) just screams Harry Potter to me. It probably doesn''t help that I was listening to one of the books on CD on my commute today, and both characters were mentioned. I really like Lavender, and Luna (although I wonder about the teasing potential - Looney Luna?) but don''t think that it''s the bestest idea to put them together, at least not until the HP mania has died down quite a bit. I really like Aria, Aurora, and Valentina. It''s not on your list, but I also like Allegra and think it fits in with some of the other options.

I''ve never met real people with your boys names, so I immediately think of Romeo and Juliet, and Rocky Balboa/Rocky and Bullwinkle. I prefer Rocco, but agree that Rocco Cargo just does not work. I love Wolfgang, and could really get behind it as as first name, but it''s Germanic - is that why you''d put it in the middle name slot? Hmm. Romeo would get some teasing and I might do a double take if I saw a kid named Romeo, but I think it could grow on me.

Sabine - CUTE!!

BIG bump!

Hi everyone! I don't usually post here, but I'm nycbkgirl's BFF. She wanted me to update you all that she's in the hospital on bed rest and will remain there for the next three weeks at least. The babies are doing fine, and currently weigh 1.5 lbs each
9.gif
. Mama is doing well also, and is relieved that she's in a hospital setting, and is constantly monitored and attended to.

She also lucked out with a nice roommate, who filled her in on the in-bed grooming services LOL. Now she can get her mani/pedi done without getting out of bed, and does have to worry about looking "beastly" LOL.

She dropped her phone in a cup of tea this morning (and nearly drove her BFF to drink, worrying), so she doesn't have internet access at the moment. Her DH is working on getting her a new phone. Hopefully she'll be able to update you all soon.

She wants me to mention that she got a steroid shot
33.gif
I"m sure you ladies know what that is.

One last thing, I'd would like to request at least 7 more weeks of extra sticky dust.

Thank you

Thanks for the update Brooklyngirl. Sending nycbkgirl all the best, and tons of sticky dust so that her babies will stay put.
12.gif
12.gif

Brooklyngril Thank you sooo much for the update! If possible can you give us any more information about why she is on bedrest in hospital? I assume that it is because her cervix was shortened compared to last week... last we heard that was the issue they were monitoring. NYC Wishing you all the best, we will be thinking of you!

Hi DD!

Well, she had one of her scheduled check ups today and her doctor told her that they're going to LDR
14.gif
. They are still monitoring her, and haven't told her the cervix measurement. She did mention something about cervical membranes
33.gif
She's not dialated, and is not having contractions, so I guess that's a good thing.

She doesn't know too much more at this point.

Brooklyngirl- thanks for the update. The steroid shots help with lung development, which is a great thing if the babes come anytime soon.

Anyone remember exactly how far along NYC is, again?

NYC - thinking of you!!

Blen, I thought nyc was the as far as along as me? Like 28 weeks I thought?

Blen - thanks on the suggestion of Lyle. hadn''t thought of that. I''ll run it by my DH see what he thinks! You look great btw!!!

Sabine - you look great as well!! thanks for the belly shots!!

NYC - sending you lots of dust!!!

Came to see the adorable belly shots! Oh how i LUV bellies (just not my own ;-)

Robbie--i think u mentioned you were taking bradley classes, have u taken one yet? Do you like?

Mela--i really like Christian for a first name (if not a middle name)

Cdt--just chiming in--i taught a warren and all his friends called him ''war'' --not what his mom had intended, but it got shortened to that and it stuck. I do however think it is an adorable name (also sounds good as an adult) and i like Gavin too!
My son is Cohen and *everyone* calls him Co now, i think it is cute so i don''t mind, but i am surprised how quickly names get shortened.

Brklyngrl-Tell NYC we''re all thinking of her! (and make sure she takes it easy!!)

Sending good thoughts to NYC! Hope she and babies are hanging in there!

jas - thanks for chiming in! yeah, i think inevitably most names get shortened. didn''t really think of that though w/ warren, not lovin War
40.gif
But still like the name and i agree w/ you about it being a nice adult name, that''s actually why I liked it in the beginning because I thought i would look nice on a resume and seemed grown-up
9.gif
But who knows?? this name thing is tough!!!

Oh NYC - I''m SO sorry to hear about this turn of events!!! I''m sending you may-jah sticky vibes, and I''m tisk tisk''ing your Cervy for not listening to Momma!!
6.gif
Hang in there - and keep us updated. Thanks Brooklyn for the updates
35.gif

FYI''s - NYC is two days behind me, so she is now 24w4d.

Blen - SO CUTE! I love your belly shots. They are so so so so ''picturesque'' if that word can be applied to bellies. I mean that you''re so photogenic, and the belly really ''shows'' in your pics. I often find it hard to get a pic that accurately shows my growth. You''re are always so good!

Pandora - you ok? Thinking of you.

***
I really appreciate the feedback with my names. I REALLY don''t want a Harry Potter inspired name (I''ve never even read the books!). It would be like naming a kid after Star Wars (CDT - CHEWY! LOL). But DH is stuck on Luna. He LOVES it. What about Luna Soleil. That was always my first choice - means Moon Sun - which is very ying/yang, and I like that. It goes with my ''touch of granola'' core. BUT. IS IT TOO CHEEZE? Luna Soleil? Sounds pretty...but has a cheese quotient that I''m not sure about yet. thoughts?

I''m ok with the teasing. Loony, Lunatic / Romeo & Juliet. I figure ANYONE can get teased for ANY name. It''s character building (learning how to deal with teasing) and it''s also dependent on the kids personality. I feel like Romeo, if he''s hot, will be a stud. you know?
***

Names are SO hard!!

Mela 24w6d

Lots of good vibes being sent over to NYC! If you are reading this I know it''s hard but you are in the best possible place for your babies. Hang tough and think positive thoughts! I had the steroid shots too, not pleasant but really good for your babies if they god forbid are born soon.

Oh, Mela, Luna Soleil??? I would totally think parents were hippies if I had a student named Moon and Sun.
