hey ladies...
can anyone recommend an over-the-counter prenatal vitamin? The one i''m currently taken is prescribed and is no longer being made. My insurance won''t cover any other brand still being made
I tried the one a day prenatals. Not bad. I just prefer those that have a stool softner (although thankfully that symptom seems to be calming down).Date: 2/24/2009 11:06:22 AM

It definitely does! I have an aversion to pretty much all meats except filet mignon (sometimes it makes me want to gag though) and occasionally ground beef (meatloaf and fast food burgers seem to be ok still) so I've just been getting my protein in other ways. I uploaded the nutrition chart that we were given in class. Not sure if it'll work though since it's a pdf and I've never tried to upload pdfs before. It also lists protein counts for common foods.Date: 2/24/2009 9:44:15 AM

Robbie- does meat count as protein? I eat a lot of homemade food (my mama lol)...like chicken soups, chicken cutlets and beef but its always paired with a sidedish like macaroni, buckwheat or rice....I don't drink much milk (maybe a glass a day ) but I take calcium supplemements. I've had an aversion to eggs for most of pregnancy!
Ugh everything is just so difficuly..grrr!

On another note, I have awful heartburn. I have had it since yesterday. I tried eating a banana but that didn''t work. Any other suggestions?
Yeah, about 10 - 15% I think. It is more common with polyhydramnios because of the extra pressure in the uterus.Date: 2/23/2009 4:09:43 PM

...I can''t believe your water broke too! Only 10% of womens'' waters break on their own, right?

Thanks so much everyone for your congrats! Things are going well, in large part because my DH and my mom are here doing basically everything. I basically lie around and eat and feed Hunter and try to sleep when I can. Last night was rough, as my midwife warned... milk is just starting to come in, so Hunter was really hungry last night getting only collostrom. He basically fed every for 30 minutes and then was fussy for 30 minutes, then ''dozed'' for 30 minutes and then it all started again. At 8 am he finally had a feed and feel asleep for real! I woke DH and said ''Take him and get out!'' LOL... then I slept for 3 hours.
Still, I adore him. It is so special that I have been given the opportunity to care for him and raise him to be a good man. That is so overwhelming!

Robbie - Thanks for your input on the anxiety meds and the whole needing them issue. And I totally understand where you are coming from...and believe me, six weeks ago, I KNEW I needed them - but wasn''t willing to take anything until I was out of the first trimester. I''m feeling better, but I had my doctor call in a script for the hydroxyzine - the as needed anti-anxiety med - and use it only if I feel I need to. But at this point, I''m feeling MUCH better! And if I recall, you were considering a doula, right? DH and I have discussed that as well - I''m not so into the drug-free child birth, but definitely interested in having an advocate in the delivery room. Please let me know what you decide and how it goes!
I''ve been taking Rennies (they''re OTC and seem to do the trick).Date: 2/24/2009 12:01:16 PM

OMG OMG OMG CONGRATS Dreamer on the BEAUTIFUL arrival of HUNTER!!!!!!!!!
I cried a little reading your post - I''m just so happy for you!
Gloating here: I *knew* you were having a boy.
He is SO perfect looking already! Smooth and round (that sounds weird) but he is! Who cares that it wasn''t the labour and delivery that you had planned. That''s life! And he''s GORGEOUS. I''m beyond happy for you. YEY HUNTER!

Robbie - I''m way behind on posting, but I read that you have been suffering the underwire bra discomfort too. I have solved this problem by wearing really thin (clingy) UNNDER my bras. This stops the chaffing and digging.

I''m so way far behind - I''ll have to catch up later...
BUT WE GOT OUR BUGABOO!! Grey base/ red top. I''m in LOVE! It''s in our living room right now, like a beautiful piece of furniture. haha. We admire it and say how good it looks with our stuff. Redic.
