Hi ladies!!!

I''m doing a quick drive-by to say we''re having a girl!!!!
face23.gif

She''s doing really well. She''s measuring 20w4d, 13oz. She was nice and calm, swallowing, and yawning. They told me that I have a low lying placenta so they''re going to monitor me over the next few weeks. I wasn''t going to have another u/s until much later but now I have to have one in 4 weeks to make sure everything is ok. That has me a little worried but I''m trying to just stay positive.

But she''s great.
30.gif
Rich got a little teary eyed and when we were driving home he said ''OMG two of you in the house...i don''t know what I''m going to do now'' LOL

I''ll check back in later. I''m starving!!
Yay! Congrats on the girl - your mother will be pleased!

Don''t worry too much about the low-lying placenta. I had partial praevia at 21 weeks and in 95% of cases it moves up as your uterus grows.

I''ve got to have another u/s at 35 weeks to check on it. I was discussing it with my friend who is an OB last night and she said that as long as it wasn''t covering the cervix and the baby''s head would go lower than the lower edge of the placenta then you don''t necessarily need a c-section. I''m suprised that they are checking so early... but hey, any excuse of another u/s is good in my book.

My OB friend has also caught baby fever from me and she and her DH are now TTC - she''s warned me that she will be a nightmare when she''s pregnant, and then made me jealous that she plans to get at least 1 u/s a week so she can do a really nice album before the baby is born. Oh the perks of the job...

I''d like to get everyone''s advice please:

DH and I have been invited to a wedding on May 9th - my due date is May 19th - in a city that is 3 hours drive from London. The couple are very close friends - he was one of DH''s groomsmen - and very keen for us to be there. I have to RSVP by the 9th March.

My OB friend thinks that it is a bad idea for me to be so far away from London after 37 weeks given that I''m high risk, that the baby will have an opiate dependency, that I have partial praevia and I''m booked into one of only 3 hospitals in the country with a maternal mental health unit - and that just so happens to have a top-notch NICU and SCBU on site.

The chances are that I will still be sitting here on May 26th waiting for the off, but there is always the possibility...

I''ve said no to my brother over his wedding on May 23rd as he is getting married 7 hours away in the middle of nowhere, but I hadn''t really thought about the 9th May in the same way... ideally I''d make the decision the day before, but it''s not at all fair on the couple or their parents. DH could go alone, but he doesn''t really like going to things without me.

What would you do? Stay in London, go to the wedding or ask if you can make a decision closer to the date?
33.gif

Pandora, I''d stay in London personally. I was supposed to travel 3 hours away when I''m 36 weeks, but I moved my schedule around so that I don''t travel from 36 weeks and on.

I was also going to tell you that I saw a pain management doc this morning and she said a lot of the same things as you regarding the meds. Narcotics are endorphines which our bodies naturally produce, etc.

Pandora. I''ll think aloud on this one.

Chances are, if you were to attend, NOTHING bad would happen. However, knowing everything we do (in your list above) I wouldn''t chance it. Ultimately, the baby''s health and well being comes first, and it''s just TOO close for comfort.

You''ll be sitting at home, with a major case of FOMO (fear of missing out), HUGELY pregnant and wishing you''d gone to the wedding. No doubt. That said, I just don''t think you can chance it. That''s my opinion.

Sucks. But...imagine you went into labour that far away? eek!

Yay for a healthy baby boy Lysser!!!

Mela and Courtney, you have such great bumps! Here''s my 17 week pic, and then I''ll post a pic from today so you can see how much this shirt makes a difference!

Pandora I would not go. It would make me feel bad, but having so recently been 37 weeks preggo I can say that it wouldn''t make me feel okay to be so far away. And another thing to remember is that at 37 weeks you will probably feel very uncomfotable and who knows what else, since the last weeks of pregnancy are dull of surprises.

Mela, Courtney, Sabine- CUTE shots.

Lysser- YAY for team blue!!! I had a boy feeling for you, don''t know why. So happy everything is normal- now you can relax a bit. Do you feel less stressed?

So I actually called my doctor today and asked her if I could go surfing.
23.gif
Yes, I know. The minute I tried to say it out loud I knew how insane it sounded. Btw, in case anyone is wondering, her answer was NO.

The funnier thing is that I thought about asking on here, but didn''t b/c I knew you all would tell me I was crazy! Sounded reasonable at the time.

Wow everyone looks sooo cute...I promise to post next week..didn''t wanna get dressed today.

Pandora- I wouldn''t go!

Congrats LL and fiery! Sooo exciting :)

Robbie- yes this focus is the only marker and my nt results were: 1/3705 and 1/2409 and trisomy 1>10k

So with those results I opted out of amnio.

Yay Belly Pic Friday! Everyone''s bumps just look so cute. Sabine, the different shirts make a huge difference with you. CUTE!

Fiery - congrats on your girl! So your family was right?
9.gif

LL - congrats on your boy! I''m so glad that everything''s looking good.
9.gif

DD - thanks, that really helps. My midwife says that PTL can be relatively non-painful, but that around this time is the time that if I were in true labor, I''d know. Since it was balling up and was mostly painless (or was at least the kind of pain that I can talk myself out of feeling), my midwife didn''t seem too concerned and was mostly just trying to get it down for my sake. It''s easier to get work done when I''m not having contractions right and left. I was down to 2 an hour today, which was much better.

Mela - I''m actually looking forward to labor too. Just in 3+ weeks, not right now. Sometimes I wonder if I''m crazy.

Pandora - If your OB thinks it''s not the best idea, I''d lean towards skipping it. Chances are that everything would be fine and that if you were to go into labor you''d have time to get back to London, but I don''t think I''d risk it given the circumstances. If everything was low risk and the other town had a good hospital just in case, that would be different.

China - Haha.
3.gif

Oh - what does it feel like when the baby drops? As of yesterday, I have to pee like crazy, sometimes before I even leave the bathroom from peeing last.
6.gif
And I think the baby''s butt feels about an inch further from my ribs. Does this mean baby dropped, at least some?

Here''s a big belly for Puffy:

I promise to come back and comment/respond later, but I just had to share the most exciting news of the week with you all:

I'VE FOUND A BRA THAT FITS, IS COMFORTABLE AND AFFORDABLE!!!

I stopped by the Hanes outlet store after work, tried on a million bras (they measured me and told me I'm a 36C, uh, yeah, definitely not), but the winner was the Champion Sport No Poke Wire Bra in a 34DD. Bra sizing is so weird since my 32 G is way too small in the cups. The champion is so comfy that I don't want to take it off. I think it's normally $30, but it was $27 at the outlet and I could've gotten a 2nd for half price. If my boobs didn't keep changing I would have, but I figured I have no idea how long it'll be before I need a new one so it probably wasn't worth it. Anyway, for anyone having bra issues, I HIGHLY recommend trying this one.

What cute bellies you all have!!!

LL YAY for a healthy boy!!!

blenheim girl considering you are 34 weeks, you are TINY, you look great! wow, how did that happen that you are 34 weeks already?

Everyone looks so fabulous!!!

Ladies thank you all so much for the congrats! We're very excited. It feels good to now be able to say 'she' instead of 'it.' Sorry I posted and ran. My mom is here and "we" had a million things to do. By "we" of course I mean her. But we did go to an area in Miami where there are a bunch of tile warehouses. That was great (even though with the sun
14.gif
). Then we ate and took a lllooonnnggg nap.

Ebree, China, Neat-We are throwing names out there. Right now I'm liking Emily. Mr. Fiery likes Victoria. I'm not a fan (plus that's my grandmother's name and if I'm going to name her after anyone, it won't be that grandmother). He wants to go buy her some outfits today and we'll pick up a baby name book. Boy names are so much easier IMO.

LL-Congrats on a healthy boy! I'm glad that worry is off of your mind!!

Pandora-Thanks for the note. I was reading my pregnancy books last night and they've all said the same thing: not to worry about it right now. My mom keeps talking about buying a support that holds the belly up. I have no idea what she's talking about. Do you? I would stay in London to be honest. I'm sure your friends will understand. Perhaps you and Dh can get together with them a week or 2 before the wedding just for dinner to celebrate?

China-LOL @the question. You don't know until you ask right?

NYCBK-Hey we got Neat to take a photo for us (I think she even had to put on a bra just to take the photo
3.gif
) so I want a belly shot!!!!! Even if your hair is a mess, you're wearing reindeer pajamas and have crust in your eyes. I still want a shot!

Blen-My mom keeps rubbing it in. Last night we were looking at the u/s pics and she says "I knew you were having a girl...big butt" My mom has this thing with either calling me a bruja (witch) or big butt.
32.gif

Robbie-Yay for comfortable bras!!!

Hope everyone has a great day! I don't have a belly shot but here's a crappy cell phone picture of my little girl! She had just yawned and put her hand on her head. So cute!

happy Saturday everyone! Everyone who posted pictures looks great!!

Yesterday was kinda rough - I waited forever at the hospital for monitoring and then the baby was lazy so I had to stay there forever trying to get her to wake up and move around a bit which was frustrating since she''s usually very active. I think we just caught her in a sleep cycle. That made me late for the dermatology appt but I ended up having to wait there anyway... The dr said she thinks my rash is indeed PUPPP (Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy) so she prescribed a steroid creme which should help. Then it took me forever to actually GET the medicine. Target didn''t have the cream (Triamcinolone) but they had the ointment version so we called the dr to see if that was okay and she changed her mind and said she wanted me to get a different cream which was 20 times more expensive ($100+) which they also didn''t have. So I went to another drug store where they did have the more expensive creme but they were gonna have to order the other cream she had also prescribed (Eletone) which was also ($100+). Fortunately the pharmacist was really nice and she let me get the first one the dr had prescribed which my insurance covered so I only had to pay $5 and I told her not to fill the Eletone script since the dr had given me some samples and I only really need to deal with this for a short while since the baby''s due in 3 weeks... Soooo at least I have something that should provide some relief. we''ll see! Sorry for the rant!

If any of you develop PUPPP, I found a great website about the remedies: http://www.tcinternet.net/users/kritzerburke/naomi/PUPPP.htm . I hope none of you have to deal with this though!!!

Fiery, welcome to team pink!! your little girl looks great!

robbie, congrats on finding a bra!

littlelysser, yay for your little boy and the perfect chromosomes and genetics!!!

Pandora, I would NOT go to the wedding so close to your due date. Better safe than sorry.

China, sorry you can''t surf any more!

Hello, thought I'd delurk and post this PSA here since you all might actually be buying carseats soon.

Here is an article in the Chicago Tribune on crash test results for baby car seats conducted in actual cars. They differ somewhat, and not in a good way, from crash tests conducted on sleds, which is apparently the industry standard method of testing. In the car tests, some of the baby seats came separated from their base, or the baby seat hit the front seats of the car, causing injury to the baby dummy, in a way not seen in the sled crash tests.

And here is the chart summarizing the car test results for the seats.

Fiery- I will def take a pic on mon bc I have to go out to docs anyway so I will be dressed! and I will post it on fri :)
I think ur mom is talking about a maternity support belt...I got one from babyhuggers.com or was it bellyhuggers...lol I forget but either way it was a whole contraption and I was not willing to deal with it so I sent it back and im on bedrest so I don''t need it...but if u google it u will find many diff kinds..maybe there are easier ones to put on...if u need it that is!...
U still have time to decide on names maybe there will be one u both like so keep lookin ;)

Mrs- ugh what an ordeal ...I can''t stand docs sometimes when they prescribe such expensive meds...im sure the cheaper ones are just as fine...good thing u decided to hold off on that super pricey one...I hope cream helps!

I'll use this as a moment to plug my carseat which is the Chicco Keyfit. It's amazing. Seriously idiot proof and has a lot of great features (levels to make sure it's installed correctly, a one pull adjustment system for both installation and fitting baby, it rocks so you can use it as a rocking chair when you are at a restaurant, it allows down to 4 lbs in the event you have a preemie (important for twin moms b/c twins are often small and most carseats only legally take babies over 5 lbs) the list goes on...)

I researched the heck out of carseats before I bought one and this one got glowing reviews from most moms and now I see why. It's great.

loving the friday bumps!
you ladies are just adorable and gorgeous!
so many of you are on the home stretch already.

Does anyone know of stick on artwork or pictures that u can put on the walls? (Duno how to call them) but I want to put like rainbows and stars on the nursery walls...but don''t want it painted just sticked on.

nycbkgirl: Yes there is such a thing! They are called Decals. Theres a few per page and you just rub them on to transfer from the paper to the wall. Kinda like a rub on tattoo! You can find them in any type of craft stores. My sister has done both of my nieces rooms with them. My youngest nieces room was painted a light blue and then has decals of ponds with frogs, butterflies etc. My older niece''s room was done in a more vibrant blue and has decals of flowers, faireys and stars all over. Dont know whats in your particular area as far as craft stores... but the one by us that she got this stuff from is called AC Moore. Hope this helps.

Cara-Thanks for the info! I''m starting to do some research and that helps a lot!

Neat-Thanks for the suggestion. I''m always on babies-r-us looking at what other moms have rated 5 stars. I figured, why re-invent the wheel, you know?

NYC-Etsy.com has some really cute stuff and are all handmade. Target also has some cute stuff that you can order online.

Sapphire-Hope you are feeling good!

I''m amazed at how far along everyone is. Sabine is 17 weeks. Say what?!?! It feels like it was just a week ago that I was freaking out over my line. Incredible.

I just dropped my mom off at the bus stop to make her way home. Then I cried all the way home and gave my self a huge headache
20.gif
.

My mom drives me crazy when she''s here. She rearranges all of my stuff. And I mean everything. I always keep the trash can to the left of the toilet and the plunger/toilet brush to the right. Now, its flipped
33.gif
. Same thing with the soap. I keep the hand soap, toothbrush cup on the same side of the sink and she separated it. When she leaves, I have to spend a few minutes trying to find my pots/pans/plates/cups because she *always* moves them. She was like a home inspector. Then she walked to the dollar store, yes walked, bought a bin, went into my closet and took out all of our sweaters because winter here is pretty much over. I spent the whole weekend trying to get her to sit down and she kept yelling that the baby''s coming in 20 weeks and I need to rearrange my laundry room
20.gif

But I love her and I hate that I live so far from her
39.gif
. She''s such an awesome person. Home doesn''t feel like home unless she''s around. One weekend of moving my trash can makes my little apartment feel so much bigger and more comfy.

Sorry for the sob story...I''m feeling a little nostalgic
7.gif

Fiery, that's funny about your trash can! I'm glad you enjoy your mom's visits despite her tendency to rearrange things.

I've only known I was pregnant for two weeks. It seems so much longer than that!

The morning sickness continues.
40.gif
No throwing up but general blah.

Yesterday we went to a wine expo with some friends. We bought me a non-drinking ticket with the story that I would be the designated driver. Well, they didn't check the tickets and before I knew it I had a wine glass and a wristband. DH thought I should just pretend to taste the wines (wouldn't somebody notice that I kept refusing pours/spitting out what I tasted/dumping out full tastes?), but I decided to say that even though I clearly could drink, I felt bad about the fact that I hadn't paid to and didn't want to drink even a little, lest I go crazy and not be a good designated driver anymore. I'm sure they suspected, but at least I didn't have to fake taste. I would have worried about getting a little alcohol in my system even with spitting, and I'm 6w3d . . . not a good time in development for alcohol. (I don't plan to drink at all during my pregnancy, but this seems like an especially bad time.)

One thoughtful friend told me that he knew where we could find sparkling cider and brought me over there. I was trying to make sure it wasn't alcoholic in my head, and he must have read my thoughts because he told me it was "safe." So he must know! That's ok though. It's ok if people suspect, but then if heaven forbid anything happened and later they saw me drinking, they'd just think, oh we were wrong. That's better than making an announcement to everyone so early.

I have my "prenatal orientation" tomorrow, and it's supposed to snow 8-12 inches. I'll believe it when I see it! We haven't had a real snow storm since my second year of teaching, and this is my seventh. My main concern is that my students take their state test tomorrow and that if we have a delayed opening I may no longer be free to leave when I planned to. But that's a silly concern since they usually don't change the order of morning and afternoon classes. I guess I should be concerned about driving in the snow too, but I'm from up north and I don't flip out over a little snow like most Richmonders.

I still don't really believe it's going to snow, though!
