Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

TGal - I know! In fact, something yesterday made me think of your Visitors Book
3.gif
which in turn made me think of far we''ve all come since then.
What, did someone die?
3.gif

(I hope not, by the way.)

Hey ladies!

Blen - your wedding photos are gorgeous! And you look great preggo! I hope I look as good as you at the end of my pregnancy!

LL - Sorry to hear you''re sick! I''ve been battling stomach issues since last Tuesday, and I still feel crappy! SUCKS!!

Sabine - I''m predicting GIRL (but i haven''t been right yet
9.gif
)! Can''t wait to find out!!!

I know I''m missing a ton of people and I''m sorry! Works been busy and my stomach has been a mess since last week. I''m starting to wonder if it''s the new prenatals (had to switch since they stopped making my old ones). I tried another new one last night so we''ll see, but I still had to run to the bathroom this morning, so I don''t know. I''ve also been having KILLER heartburn the past few days. Blah
14.gif

Otherwise, same old
1.gif
Got told I''m getting fat yesterday by a girl who is 8 months pregnant??? So bizarre. I really must have a sign on my head that says "PLEASE INSULT ME".....it made for a lovely breakdown on my way home from work
20.gif

Mrs-2.5 weeks!!

Sabine-I vote girl!

We need to do a baby poll for Blen. I vote boy!

I had a LOL moment with Mr. Fiery yesterday. He has felt the baby kick but was never “impressed” with it since the kicks were always so light and it usually takes forever for him to feel any movement at all. Plus his hands are always sooo warm (makes for great back rubs
3.gif
) which I think calms her down a little. Well, last night he came over and placed his hand on my belly and she immediately kicked…hard! He jumped up and goes “what was that? Did you feel that??” Um. Yes I did LOL. Then he tries again and again she kicks really hard. So he went on and on about enrolling her in soccer and buying her a little soccer jersey from Chile
20.gif
.

Thanks Mrs! You''re almost there!!!
9.gif
easy for me to say, but hang in there!

Sabine, I vote boy for you! and a girl for Blen!

On the excercise thing I would say that you definitely should listen to your body....but the talking while exercising may not always apply. My Dr told me to wear my heart rate monitor and try to keep it at 140-150. The other day I was listening to an excercise for pregnancy Podcast and they were saying you really should look at it as a scale 1-10 (1 sitting down doing nothing, 10 being at the top of your effort which you couldn''t maintain for more than 5 minutes) and you should exercise at around 60%. If you get dizzy, etc you should stop immediately. And lastly, always take time to warm up and cool down before raising your HR.

LL I hope you''re feeling better today!
5.gif

M~

lol Fiery that''s so cute! I love little girls in soccer outfits!!!!!

cdt, I can''t believe people feel like they can come out and say stuff like that!!!. You are SO not fat!

M~

I''m going to vote BOY for Sabine. No idea why....

and I''m still on the fence for Blen. It''s like, when you know someone well (like your spouse or BFF) you can''t "see" them anymore. You see their insides before you see what they look like on the outside to the rest of the world. I feel like I can''t "see" Blen anymore.

But it a can of silly string was held into my nostril, and I had to decide, then I *guess* I''d vote, Boy.

ACK. That was hard.

Mrs - holy HANNAH. 2.5 weeks!

PAGING BAMBOO COTTON BABY CLOTHES BUYERS: Can you please share what brands/company''s you''ve bought from and what you''ve bought?

I started looking for bamboo cotton onsies, and found almost nuthin'' here in Canadia. I''m ready to do some online shopping and would love some tried and tested recommendations.

Bueller?

Mela 28w5d

Sabine - boy and Blen - girl!!

thanks so much everyone for their yoga advice and general warm fuzzies ;)

mela - i''ve bought american apparel organic (not sure if they are bamboo) baby clothes for several friends and they have luuuuved them. in general, i love aa baby clothes (and adult clothes alike).. no fuss no slogans just cute & simple.

quuuueeeesssttiiiooon for the more "seasoned" mammas out there.. i have 7 yes SEVEN weddings this summer... all which are going to fall within various stages of me being preggo (that also means seven sober weddings.. boo!) but i digress...
i was wondering what the general consensus was as to when i will probably have to invest in a maternity dress - july? august? i have several empire waist dresses that i plan to wear early on in the summer, but i just wonder when i''m not going to be able to fit in my pre-preggo clothes. oh, and if it helps i''m tentatively due late oct. also the reason i ask is b/c several online merch. have really good deals on maternity dresses, jeans etc, but have no idea during what months of being preggo i''m going to neeeeeeddddd them. did that make sense?

muchas gracias!
viz

Hey Viz,

I'm not "seasoned", but I can tell you when I outgrew my 'normal' clothes. At about 20-22 weeks, the majority of my cute summer dresses (empire and otherwise) did not fit anymore. Some of the stretchy ones were ok, but for the most part, my existing dresses were out of the question. I'm not sure what you're body type is like. That will play a factor as well. For your reference, this was my body at 20 weeks. (also found on pg 491)

ETA: I cannot believe that was taken a mere 8-9 weeks ago. Bodies change FAST! In related news, I bought a nursing bra today - 38 D!!!!! Pre-preggo I was a 34 B.
32.gif

Hope that helps!

PJMela20weeks.jpg

that does help! thanks!

question? why couldn''t you fit into your dresses? (hope that''s not too personal) was it the boobage factor? i guess i''m having a hard time trying to decide if i should just order a size UP in a non-maternity dress OR just go for it with a maternity one. for one wedding (late june - right about 21wks) i am supposed to wear a green dress... i guess i can wait until it''s closer to look but i love to bargain shop and inevitably when i wait i can''t find anything i like, and if i do it''s super $$ ;)

and you''re kinda scaring me with the boobage growth.. i luv my small boobs.. i''m right around a 34 small B - i''m so nervous for when they get big big big. if it helps i''m about 5''10" - i think blen is the same height as me... when did you find your pre-preggo clothes were a no-go?

thanks again!

Mela don''t buy anymore nursing bras until your milk comes in! Trust me, those tatas will get mondo bigger! I haven''t measured mine, but they are MUCH larger now that I am bessie the cow.

Visla, I''m at 18 weeks and I''m still wearing some prepregnancy clothes but I have a feeling it won''t be lasting much longer. Would it be appropriate to wear separate skirts/tops to any of the weddings? I found a bunch of really cute skirts that just have thick elastic waistbands, and they are really comfortable! I think I could still fit in prepreg. dresses if they are large in the chest. My bump isn''t that big yet, but I don''t think I would attempt to wear any spaghetti strap or low cut dress, maternity or not. I think I could wear a non maternity dress in my size or one size bigger if it has room to stretch and has plenty of room/support for the "girls". I''ve also found some great maternity dresses on ebay! Have fun shopping, that is certainly a lot of weddings!

So for my poll, it''s
Girl- 5
Me
Natalia
Fisher
Fiery
cdt

Boy- 5
Blen
Mrs
Mela
Mandarine
Courtney

wow, dead even!
I''m guessing girl for Blen! You and Mrs. are getting soooo close!

thanks again!

For me it was a bit of both. Boobs, Belly and Butt
11.gif
. I gained evenly EVERYWHERE. It was more a matter of looking ''inappropriate''; like a preggo trying to squeeze into something she already owned. By that time (20-22weeks) I was up a cup size, and most certainly up a dress size (or two) to accommodate my "new" shape. For the record. I am only 5''1"

You''ll probably be a lot better off at 5''10", where a couple pounds are less noticeable

DD - "Bessie the cow" = AMAZING! hahahaha. You are utterly funny! I bought one nursing bra, a brand called "Nummies", that has no underwire and I bought it on the ''generous'' side knowing that I would still get bigger in the next 11 weeks, BEFORE my milk comes in. I''m not going to by anymore until its BF time....but NONE of my other underwire bras fit (or were remotely comfy anymore) so I kinda had to buy something!!!
40.gif

11 weeks and ONE bra will be interesting. Thankfully, DH expects little in the "sexy wife" and lingerie dep''t these days.

I wore one bra for about 30 weeks
20.gif
I know that it terrible, but it was very expensive and I didn''t want to shell out for another one.

thanks again mela.. i was trying to decide which bigger dresses i currently own i could use and wouldn''t look too sausage-like in them - i''ve sized jumped the past few years so i have a wide array of sizes in my arsenal;)

and super good to know about this magical butt i have to look forward to;)
i have no arse.. like none... my friends make fun of me for it.. so a little wouldn''t be bad,
2.gif
but also good to know that if i do decide to buy some of these preggo sale clothes.. i will fo sho'' go up a size or two.. to accommodate my new curvy figure.

I keep logging in to see what Sabine is having. Now I think the appt. is tomorrow. Dang!

DD, would you recommend getting a nursing tank or something for when I''m in the hospital? I haven''t bought any nursing wear yet since I gather that they''ll get a lot bigger once my milk comes in but I''m wondering what you do in the hospital for the first day or two - perhaps just go without a bra??

I hope you and Hunter are well!! We miss you here in pregoland but are so glad you''ve transitioned to motherhood so smoothly!

mrs obviously i am not DD, but i LIVED in nursing tanks for the first 6 months or so. pathetic i know. i brought a few to change at the hospital and they were way more comfy than the gown.

Nursing tanks and yoga pants are a must for the hospital!

And Mela with me my tatas got a lot bigger at first when my milk was just in, then they went down a bit again. So there is hope!

Me too! I wish I never spent $100 on nursing bras

Oh well, live and learn. My Target tanks were PERFECT. I did wear the gown b/c things were...messy...plus I had a complicated recovery so it was just easier for me and the nurses.

Hey ladies.

I wanted to jump in and post today, but was so busy at work. DH and I are headed to Puerto Rico tomorrow. I am so excited, but have so much to do before our flight in the morning, so I can''t respond to everyone I wanted to.

Sabine- I vote GIRL!
Blen- I vote GIRL!

Vizla, Mandarine, Phoenixgirl- Re: Working Out. Try to give yourselves a break in your first trimester. You generally are just so exhausted and you need to rest and work on creating all those perfect little baby parts that happens in the 1st. It was hard for me to switch my mindset from working out in order to lose or maintain weight or push myself, to the preggo mindset. Try to think about staying strong and healthy, not pushing your body through a work out. So a good long walk or light jog if you can manage it, plus lots of yoga or stretching. I kept doing Pilates and I do weights with my trainer once a week still, but I no longer break a sweat or try to push it. I try to walk or do the elliptical, but honestly it doesn''t happen that often b/c I just run out of steam. The good news is that you will get lots of energy back in the 2nd and will be able to do tons more. So just take it easy in the 1st and don''t feel guilty if you can''t work out the same way.

LL- Ugh, sorry you are dealing with unexplained pain. Hope you are feeling better. So excited for your little boy!!!

I''m good, but definitely getting a belly now. It''s weird and cool. Also, it looks like our verbal offer was just accepted on a house! I am in shock, thought we made a low offer that they would counter but they didn''t. I am so about to be a grown-up with a house and a baby. Wow. So dust for the house deal to go through please!!!

And we are taking the envelope to Puerto Rico, so I may have news for you on Monday.

Any last minute guesses as to what ChinaCat is cooking in here????
3.gif

Duh. I knew I was missing something. Nursing tanks.
Tacori - how long are the Target tanks? Would they work on a longer torso?

Tgal - no one died, thank God. I have no idea why I thought of it, it just jumped into my head. And made me laugh.

CDT - sorry about the stomach issues and heartburn. What the heck with the other pregnant lady!?

Fiery - haha! That happened once with us too, and then hubs kept talking about our ninja baby.

Tallying votes for my poll:
Boy
Fiery
Mela (but only with a can of silly string held to her nostril
3.gif
)

Girl
Mandarine
Courtney
Sabine
Fisher

Holy cow, 7 weddings? And I guess I fall into the seasoned category?
32.gif

Honestly, it really depends on the outfit. I''ve managed to outgrow some maternity clothes while some of my pre-preggo clothes are still in my regular rotation, which makes absolutely no sense but I digress.

Things that will help you wear a non-maternity item longer:
--Empire waist
--Rib cage and boob area with enough extra room to accomodate that area expanding
--Stretchier fabrics
--Loose and flowy cut
--Longer lengths - the front hem will start to get higher and higher as it''s now draping over a larger belly while the back is still just hanging down as normal, and this is a bit less obvious if you''re not battling something that''s not short in front to begin with. Especially if you have a longer torso to start with.

Also, some maternity dresses are cut like tents whereas some are flattering on both larger and smaller bellies. One of my favorite outfits now is a dress that was also uber flattering at 16 weeks. Are the great online sales things that you could also try on in person, to see which category it fits into?

By the way - this is a NON maternity dress that has all of those things I was telling you to look for, at 34w6d. The front hem is shorter than the back, but would be less so if my belly weren''t quite so big.

34w6d.jpg

Blen, I can't remember. I think they are normal length. Mid hip? They are cheap and great! I think I have 6 or 7 people I wore them everyday (and night) for the entire time I BFed. Also nice b/c they are more modest if you are nursing in front of people (no one wants to see my PP tummy
14.gif
) Check them out. They are safely packed away for my next baby.

ETA: I missed your photo! You look awesome!!!

delurking for a bit:

mela - i saw your question in the mommy thread. as far as onesies go i have both carters and gap ones and i've found both are fine but the gap ones are softer and better fabric, which i like because i think it keeps the little one cozier. btw make sure to get (any brand) short side snap ones for the first few weeks when baby's umbilical cord hasn't fallen off!

blen - the target tanks work just fine for longer torsos and i've been living in them ever since i came home from the hospital.

as far as hospital wear, i lived in their gowns the entire time just because i didn't want to ruin my own clothes.

Tacori, thanks for chiming in! Are the target tanks you used the Gilligan & O'Malley ones? It sounds like they've changed design from cut outs to side supports. Which ones do you have?

Puffy and Neat, Thanks for your input! Which brand/style of nursing tank did you two use?

I bought a few nursing tops from Motherhood Maternity. They are like nursing tanks but with wider straps, the spagetti straps on typical nursing tanks were a little immodest on me
2.gif
I will buy more in the coming weeks, when you are around the house it is much more comfortable to wear something that has no underwire etc.

blen you look AWESOME woman!!! and the target tanks were pretty long as i can remember. i got a bunch of the fancy expensive ones, but i loved the target ones the most, as they were the most convenient.

mrs i think they are the brand you mentioned. the ones that i used had the 2 snaps in the front that can be taken off 1 at a time so 1 side is always covered. i think online the design has them where both sides are uncovered, last time i checked. don''t know if that makes sense. you might want to check different target locations to see what designs they have.

Sabine - I''m guessing BOY for you...

Blen - I really don''t know, I''ve always thought of you as having a boy but now I have to actually pick an option I''m going to say GIRL.
1.gif

Mela - I have a real thing about bamboo (sitting here in a pair of bamboo pj-type trousers now), and it''s not that easy to find sadly. It''s worth trying ebay as some of the small companies have shops on there.

Most of the places I have gone are just small uk stores - although Cuddledry might be international now. Just google ''bamboo baby'' and lots of options should come up. Arms Reach do bamboo cot sheets as well.
