Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Court, hope you''re feeling better!

Blen, I LOVE Virginia Isobel! I like that spelling too. Makes it a little more unique than Isabelle, which seems to be the popular way to spell it. And you''re definitely almost term. I got in a similar fight with my mom yesterday. She was supposed to have ordered the crib this weekend (my parents are awesome and it''s our shower gift) and she told me that she was waiting in case I changed me mind (wonder why she thinks I''d do that?!
3.gif
). I told her she really needs to order it now. She said we''ve got plenty of time since I have 4 months left (it''s really 3.5 though). I told her that it could take up to 3 weeks to come in and one of the only complaints about it on the site is that it was shipped damaged. So, what if it takes 2 returns before we get one that''s not damaged AND I deliver early?!

Mela, do they not do showers in Canada? You should apply for tickets to the Ellen Mother''s Day show! They give away tons of free stuff. It would be like a mini shower (or better since they gave away a washer and dryer one year!) I sent in my application yesterday.

So cal, for me, RLP isn''t really a crampy feeling. It''s more like someone is slicing me down the sides of my abs. It''s really painful. A general crampy feeling could be a lot of things. It''s pretty common though and generally nothing to worry about. Never hurts to call the doc and hear it from them though.

Peony, the 10 month thing drives me nuts too! I figure, I got pregnant in October and I''m due in July. That''s 9 months. At this point, when someone asks how many months I am, I just count back from EDD.

Amber, welcome to the thread!

Fiery, we were asked at our first appointment by the nurse if we wanted to do any genetic testing and the CF test was one of the ones listed. We opted out of all of them. I HATE when places take forever to send bills! It drives me nuts!

DH absolutely refuses to repaint. Booo. But, I''ve decided that I like the Peter Rabbit bedding better with the crib anyway and lucky for him it looks great with the current wall color. I''m thinking that we''ll hang the blanket on the wall as a decoration until baby''s ready to use it. For other decorations I''m thinking it could be cool to get a copy of Peter Rabbit and cut out and frame some pages. I''m feeling crafty.

MRS- Hope you are recovering well with your little girl! Can''t wait to hear the name.

AMBER: Welcome girl!!!!
35.gif
We''ve been waiting for you. You''re in for a wild ride, but it''s a good one. You may be right on the boy, we have had a boy boom recently. Check out the Preggos in Waiting List. I felt like my little bug was a boy from day one, no idea why. And I was right!!!! I didn''t have any symptoms AT ALL until 6 weeks. Nada, then I got hit like a mack truck.
23.gif
But it goes away. That''s great that you are getting an early appointment.

Sunkist- Oh, just wait, there are so many weird things that go on with your body. If you aren''t experiencing them, you will definitely read about them and go
6.gif
- how come nobody told us about these things? If it''s not diarrhea, it''s constipation. I was so clueless at first, but pick up a few books. That helped me. I bought a bunch, but then I realized they all sort of say the same stuff. What To Expect has been pretty helpful- though some girls don''t like it b/c it scares them. I have the Mayo Clinic one, and Girlfriend''s Guide, which is okay. Also, if you have time, go back and read this thread! There is way more info on here than anywhere else!!!!

Sabine- Don''t know, honey. Have you tried wider heels or wedges? What about the Cole Haan with Nike Air in them? They aren''t cheap, but they may be worth it. And there''s that other store, Aerosoles or something?

CDT- When are you due again? Cute pics of your little guy- though I have to confess, I still can''t tell what''s what. But that''s just me, I have hard time with my own! I always feel like Rachel on Friends when she can''t see her own u/s. If you go with Warren Thomas, will you call him Warren?

Pandora- How are you 31 weeks???? I am going to miss you around here when little Miss Daisy arrives. I love your posts. So funny and practical at the same time.

Vizsla- HI! Love your avi, btw. That was exactly my food pattern from weeks 6-10. ALL I ate was peanut butter- and that''s when the salmonella scare was going on.

Fiery- I am pretty sure the CF test is standard, but maybe not? I just had mine, they didn''t really give me an option, just told me I needed to do it that day. But I haven''t gotten a bill yet, and I most certainly think they should let you know in advance if it''s that pricey!!!!! Will ask my doctor next time I talk to them. She''s on spring break this week. Thank god I am not due this week!!!!

As for me, just trucking along. I was congratulating myself for sleeping through the night yesterday, and of course woke up around 3:45 this morning and kept waking up because my hips and lower back were aching. I have noticed lately that when I lay on one side too long, my hips and sciatic nerve area hurt and I have to turn over. It''s only going to get worse, isn''t it????

This weekend I am meeting up with my two best friends in the whole world- we live all over the place and I haven''t seen them since September. They are both 3 months ahead of me and due in May! I can''t wait to take preggo pics with them. I promise to take a couple that I can post so I can finally add to BPF!!!!

Oh, and I just made my appointment for my 20 week scan. Why am I so nervous?????

Robbie- The garden color is a great neutral, and I love the idea of having a Peter Rabbit theme. You might check out what people on Etsy are making that could tie in (or give you inspiration!).

I was actually looking at a similar bedding called 'cottontail blue toile.' I don't know if I'll go that route now since I'm working with white walls and need lots of color, but I think it's a great unisex theme idea, even if you use bits and pieces here and there.

Pandora-I think being an ebay stalker and bargain hunter is better. Eventually the freebies dry out and you''re on your own
3.gif

Robbie-That sounds like a great idea. The neutral color was a very nice color too! I think the idea of the blanket on the wall is lovely too.

China-Wow 19 weeks already. It''s funny to me that it feels like everyone''s pregnancy is going by so fast and mine feels so slow.

I wish I could remember. I know that I turned down a lot of tests where I felt I wasn’t at risk because my health insurance at the time didn’t cover anything (not even u/s) and I had a $2,500 deductible. So I was really careful with what I signed. The only test I remember agreeing to was the NT scan but I later changed my mind and cancelled. They’re going to pull my chart and I guess tell me whether I agreed to it or not. But I’m thinking I probably did without realizing.

I’m just upset again that they didn’t send me the bill back in November or even December. If I am responsible for paying it, I could have used that card. Ugh

FI made a joke about it last night that when she goes to prom and wants a $500 dress, we’ll say we can’t since we had to pay $500 for a genetic test
3.gif

Ooh, Ebree, thanks for the Etsy suggestion! I was just browsing Ebay.

CC- the hip pain is outrageous! Im so sorry u r having it so early on though...sleep with pillows between legs behind back and under tummy or order the u shaperd maternity pillow..sorry to say it will get worse later on..good luck!

Amber- very happy to see u here and whenever u feel comfortable we would love u to contribute with ur experience...don''t focus on what symptoms u do or don''t have...I had none!

Re glucose test- it is more commone to fail the 1 hr but pass the 3 hr.....if u guys knew how bad that drink was for me! I was 5 seconds away from literally dropping to the floor and passing out...I got dizzy..sweating like a pig and couldn''t hear anything...very scary...but ask for orange flavor and make sure its cold and fizzy!

Fiery- if u knew how many bills they send my way ugh!...im also fighting with them bc they send stuff to people/places that don''t accept my ins and they never warn u about anything....but I would call ur ob and def fight with them...if u send a claim form to ur ins for that and they pay ...that company has to accept whatever ins decided to pay on it bc u didn''t authorize them doing that test and weren''t aware of it. My docs office even said...o the day u in labor..the anesthesiologist might not even take ur ins..im like WHAT?...that''s not happening sorry...so in labor I have to ask everyone that sees me if they accept my ins lolol....uh nope..they will take whatever my ins dishes out and they will love it! Lol ;)

This is actually a common problem any time you go to the hospital. I don''t think I''ve ever heard of someone who wasn''t able to fight it, but it''s still obnoxious. I think if a hospital accepts your insurance, EVERYONE at the freakin hospital should have to.

Sabine- this suggestion is not like the nice dressy shoe...but I got a nice pair to wear to my bff''s wedding and i was so happy with that decision...crocs....sounds ugly and weird but they are pillows for ur feet and come in many nice dressy looking designs..check out their site ;)

Fiery- ok I c u didn''t have ins at the tine...but id still fight with them about not knowing the price..maybe smthg can be done..good luck

Hey ladies!

I'm still here. I lurk every day and keep up with everyone - but I haven't been posting since I'm kind of a total Anxious Debbie Downer these days. Long story short, anxiety hadn't improved much at all. Talked with OB, fetal medication specialist, GP - and we all decided that going on a low dose of Celexa was the best thing to do for me and the kid. It was a rather rough couple of weeks. I wasn't able to eat, sleep, etc. It just stunk. I'm feeling better now though, and I know I made the right decision, it was just hard. I really didn't want to take any medication. Blah. Feh. Meh. On top of that, I somehow seemed to develop a WICKED case of MS at 13.5 weeks. So yeah. Debbie Downer for reals! So yeah, I've just sort of been keeping my blah-ness to myself!

Anyway...

Mrs - Hope everything went great with you yesterday and you are holding your sweet girl!

Amber - Welcome buddy! So glad to see you here!

CC - hey friend! Congrats on the BOY! Before I got prego, I totally thought I wanted a girl...but after thinking some more about it, I realized that I'd be totally happy with either, and actually preferred a boy...sure enough...it is what we are having!

Blen - Yay for your hubby's offer! Hopefully it'll be great! And I really like Virginia Isobel. And I totally think as the pusher-outer and carrier of the baby, you get to pick the middle name!!!

Mela - I realize I'm a bit late to the whole name debate, but I think I'd go with Romeo Christian, fwiw. I have several friends who are attorneys and whose parents gave them unconventional first names...a number of them have gone with their middle name as their first - for example, E. Richard Lastname or L. Roger Lastname. I have another attorney friend who's first name is Sunshine and her middle name is something equally unique, and she's always felt it has sort of held her back...so that'd be my only advice. Take it with a grain of salt.

Nyc Glad you are hanging in there!

CourtneyGreat haul at the shower! That's awesome!

CDT - Great US pic! Adorable! We are having a bit of a tough time with boy names too. I had a MILLION girl names...and one boy name. We are still discussing and

Robbie - I also like the sage, and I love the written words! Great!

Fiery - I hear you on the side sleeping thing...I'm not comfortable sleeping on my left side...so yeah. As for the testing for CF - I know my OB said that some insurance won't cover it unless you are at risk. As DH and I are not in any risk groups, we didn't have the tests for it, but that is nuts. I hope you can get it taken care of.

Peony - One word about pasteurized cheeses - your nicer restaurants will often have unpasteurized cheeses. So if you are eating out, make sure to ask the server.

So Cal - I don't think I'd worry about the pains. I know my docs said there are a TON of things going on down there. If you feel wonky, put your feet up, drink some water. And really, when in doubt, call your doc! That is one thing my current OB group made very clear. No need to worry yourself needlessly!

Everyone else - Hello!

Mela, do they not do showers in Canada? You should apply for tickets to the Ellen Mother's Day show! They give away tons of free stuff. It would be like a mini shower (or better since they gave away a washer and dryer one year!) I sent in my application yesterday.
1.gif

Robbie - at first I was like "Yeeeeeeeeeeeees. ELLEN!!!!" but then I realized that is basically my due date! LOL. I guess this Mother's Day Ellen show is out of the question
32.gif
hahahahaha.

We do showers in Cananda. My family is all weird and superstitious. They do post-partum "meet the baby parties" (of which I'm not getting either
29.gif
because my Mother doesn't want to organize one.) I don't even know where the superstition came from...but my Mom's side is pretty adamant on no-showers.

Robbie - great compromise on the Garden Walls and the Peter Rabbit theme. CUTE! And etsy.com will have TONS of adorable things you can add in. have fun!!!

Fiery - SUX about the bill! Those Bastards!!! This is when I heart Canada and our 'free' Healthcare. le sigh.

Hi LittleL - Glad to hear you've found a path to try (celexa) and I truly hope it works for you. This should be a great, magical, happy time...fingers crossed you get some relief. Also. Thanks for your Romeo Christian vote! I think your advice is most prudent
2.gif

Re months the extra .33 months puts you into the 10th month of pregnancy (since you are "9 months pregnant" when you complete the ninth month, you technically deliver in the 10th month.

Blen I like Virginia Elizabeth because of the historical provenence! Elizabeth was of course, the great Elizabeth I, also known as the "Virgin Queen" because she never married, and the state of Virginia was actually named after her!

AMBER!!! SO SO SO Excited for you honey, no one deserves it more than you!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for a very sticky little bean for you!

biggest fattest ditto ever!

36.gif
Enjoy every moment, pregnancy seems to last forever, but when its over it feels like the blink of an eye!!

Would write more but hunter is being a big baby and wants to be held... one hand typing is no fun, as you will see in only 8 months!!!
9.gif

China - I'm 27 weeks Thursday
36.gif
And yes we would just call him Warren. Thomas is the middle name no matter what first name we choose, but we wouldn't use it other than on paper. It is tough to know what you're looking at on those u/s pics, but I found the 3D to be pretty easy to see, plus we had the benefit of actually being there and the tech telling us what everything is
1.gif

LL - Try to hang in there. I know it's tough. My DH suffers from anxiety and it's horrible to watch someone go thru. Have you tried meditation??? My DH uses that on a daily basis as more of a preventive thing and it seems to help (although not completely).

ETA - China I just realized you asked when I"m due, not how far along I am...oops...due June 18th

well...I''m now SOLD! hahahaha.

Dreamer - can you whip up something equally as smart and meaningful? We''re working with Romeo and Luna.
thanks.
11.gif

Robbie- I ditto that....its just such a pain being pg and having to deal with hospital nonsense...they accept my ins and that''s all I need to know..they can do and send whateva they want but they are getting w.e. Ins pays! I even cried at times bc I would receive stacks of those bills and its a pain dealing with it!

Mela- same problem with superstition...no showers allowed...I literally have no baby stuff...only thing we did was order cribs (bc they take 4 mos to get)...otherwise nothing! No car seats no bassinett nada...my sister is waiting for the word and will rush to bru and pick everything up..just duno when the word will be lol.

Re: Hip Pain. I had HORRIBLE hip pain at about 22 weeks or so...literally didn''t want to move an entire weekend. But I''ve found that the more I walk, the better my hips feel. Weird I know, but for me anyway as long as I remain active most days I have less hip and lower back pain.

NYC - nice to know I''m not the only one. My mom said that 28 weeks was her ''line in the sand''. Ever since then she''s been sewing the baby''s bedding and drapes
36.gif
. But it doesn''t mean I get a shower.
11.gif
nope. My Mom''s side of the family feels that if someone wants to give a gift and meet the baby - they will on their own accord and not because they''ve been "forced" (their words) to attend a shower. Maybe the logic is that if people come willingly, out of the goodness of their heart, then there will be no evil eye (intent) given to the baby. Listen, this sounds crazy...but I didn''t make it up
20.gif
. This is based on generations of folklore and superstition.
(especially the evil eye part. lol)

CDT - I had REALLY bad sciatic pain for about two weeks...and yoga and movement have cured me. Honestly, I have ZERO ailments right now. Just general fatigue because I''m 30 weeks pregnant. ya know? Stay active girls!!!!

DREAMER - I posted a question for you in the Mommies thread. What chocolate brown sling are you using with Hunter? I love it!!

mela - I also take a yoga class once a week. Definitely helps!! I feel soooooooo good after each class.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee tooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
9.gif

RE: hip pain. Yes, I find that the more active I am, the less pains I feel. Even so, I only feel the hip pain after laying on one side for too long. Oh well, at least it goes away when I move.

Lysser- There you are! Glad you are hanging in there. So since you pretty much got the all clear from your tests, is this general anxiety? Someone asked about meditation, what about acupuncture? My sister has all kinds of issues, and swears acupuncture helped her tremendously. But I still think it''s good that you went ahead and consulted with your doctor and got some medicine to help you out. A miserable mommy can''t be good for the baby, I think it''s so much better to take care of yourself. Don''t worry, your little guy is strong and can take it. Ask Pandora!!!! And yay for boys! So since you did the CVS, does that mean you don''t do the 20 week scan? Hang in there!!!!

I am so sleepy right now. And my pants are too tight. Blegh.

Mela, my family doesn''t do showers either (Jewish superstition), but since DH is Catholic, we''re having one anyway. My family (other than my mom and sister) isn''t going to to be attending (they probably wouldn''t have anyway though since they live far away) or even sending presents until after the baby is born. My cousin (the one of flower girl fame) was really pissing me off today. She was giving me a hard time about having a shower and having anything in my house before baby is born. I could understand if she was religious or something, but she''s a freakin atheist!
20.gif
She''s also told me that she plans on having a bris/naming ceremony for her future kids, sending them to hebrew school and having them bat/bar mitzvahed. Perhaps she doesn''t realize that these are all religious things?! I wanted to smack her when she said that the reason for the nothing in the house superstition is so that you wouldn''t have to look at baby things if things don''t work out. She has no idea I had a m/c before this pregnancy, but even so, at 24+ weeks, I don''t think anything would make a loss more difficult to deal with. It''s not like I''d be able to just forget I was pregnant if there was no crib in the nursery. Grrr. She''s lucky she lives 7 hours away or she''d most likely have to suffer through a few hormonal pregnancy outbursts.

Hi ladies - I am going to tentatively join this thread. In case you don''t frequent the TTC thread, I am one of the newly preggos from the recent BFP streak. I am 4w 2ds. I just got back my first beta at 391 and will go back tomorrow to see if it doubles. I was on my first cycle of Clomid and last Monday got a progesterone level that was very low (3.9) that had be thinking I was out for the month, but was surprised by a BFP on Friday. They retested my progesterone yesterday and it was up to 21, so that is a relief. I will probably just lurk a lot until we hear a heartbeat, but I am really hopeful and looking forward to joining this thread with all you wonderful ladies.

November, I''m 4 weeks 2 days! OMG, we''re EDD twins?? As well as being November baby twins, we''re also November wedding twins!

Also, thank you everyone for the kind welcomes. It''s nice to have a support system should something go awry. I took another FRER and Dig. today, both were still positive, reading "pregnant" and with a slightly darker line than yesterday. I''m having a hard time believing things will turn out whichever way they''re supposed to, as being helpless is not one of my strong points. Thanks again for all the sticky bean wishes!

Mela- talk about evil eye..oohhh plz my fam is sooo superstitious!...that''s y I still haven''t told dh''s family..we have no relationship and im like what''s the point what can they do now just talk about us behind our backs and wish us "well" lol...no thanx...very skurred of them ..will let them know when babies come home lol.

Robbie- same jewish traditions..nothing for baby in the house..hence y im goin nuts bc we won''t be prepared but hey sister is on bru call duty lol. Id love to have a nursey complete but what can I do..they scare u with these traditions n superstitions lol

NB- congrats congrats! So exciting to see all the ttc''ers comin on ova here hope the streak continues and continues :)

Re hip pain: it would be nice to walk n excercise it out but us bedresters can''t
7.gif
so I have to stand up and walk a little around the house and massage it out ..it goes away fast but the pain is aaawful!

YEY! Welcome November and Amber - the Pregnant TWINS!!! Try to have faith that all will work out as it should...and most of all, just try to rest and relax. I know it''s so hard during that first trimester. I remember all too well! Just know that there is nothing you can do aside from taking care of yourself and resting.
2.gif
Let the ride begin!

Robbie - oh I oudda! I''d reach through my screen and slap that cousin of yours six ways till Sunday. I guess this is the first of many unsolicited opinions were going to get regarding child rearing and personal decisions. Whatever. You''re doing everything as you are comfortable doing them...and THAT is what matters. Screw everyone else''s opinions. Do what''cha dig. Besides, I agree. At this point, not only are you pretty much ''in the clear'' but nothing would really soothe the loss of an unborn child. urrgh.

I''m tired and cannot ''do'' anymore work. I''m surfing the net. Who wants to play with me? I think I''m going to play babynames for a while...

Mela- I am "working" over here.
3.gif
But I will try to play with you until someone makes me do some actual work. What did you have in mind? Don't you have your baby names????

ETA: Welcome, November!!!

I wanna play, but I only have 15 minutes until I can leave and I don''t plan on staying late
11.gif

I have a long list of babynames I LOVE, but DH vetos.

Currently, we''re working with Luna for a girl, and Romeo for a boy.
Luna needs a middle name. The only name we can agree on, which is "normal" is Valentina; but I don''t LURVE it. I''m just conceding because I can''t think of anything better with Luna.

Last name rhymes with Cargo, but starts with a ''G''

Here is the short-list of my names in no order:

girls:
Luna
Aurora
Valentina
Aria
Gemma
Neve / Neva
Soleil
Lavender

[Nova, Allegra, Augusta] are on the fringe, but veto''d

Boys:
Romeo
Christian
Stefan
Andre
Wolfgang
Phoenix

[Hudson, Nixon, Rio, Rockwell, Rocky} are on the fringe; veto''s by DH

HEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeLP!

What about Luna Selene? Luna was the Roman goddess of the moon and Selene was the Greek version.
