Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I like Evan Thomas the best! DH''s family really wants the baby to be Thomas III if it''s a boy, but DH isn''t too thrilled with the idea. I told him we could call him Trey (his initials would even be TRE), but DH doesn''t like that.

sabine - GL with house hunting! FUN!!!! Also, don''t stress about naming your child yet. You never know when inspiration will strike. You still have loads of time ;)

Oh I like TRE! In related commentary, I also like DRE, short for Andre.

Ebree, I've been starving lately too! I've woken up starving all this week. Last night I just couldn't stop eating. I'm already eating throughout the day. Normally after dinner I'm full and don't even want a snack since it's the biggest meal I eat. Last night we had burgers and what seemed like a pound of green beans and I was sooo hungry afterwards. I had a muffin, an orange and then some sherbet. I would've eaten more, but nothing else looked appealing. Baby must be growing!

ETA: Sabine, I IMed you some more shower location suggestions.

Mela, before we were actually having a baby, we always said if it was a boy it would be Thomas III and we'd call him Trey to differentiate between DH and FIL. Once there actually was a baby though DH no longer liked it. I can see how it could be a pain for practical purposes though. We've had some mixups between DH and FIL with our car insurance and things like that. DH's cousin and his dad still haven't gotten their mail sorted out (bills keep going to the wrong person) even though the son got married and moved out of the house almost a year ago!

What a PITA!

Cdt--i like Warren, followed by Lane and then Evan. I don''t think Evan sounds feminine to me at all. Never heard of it as a girls name before. I think of Dang for some reason when i think of Dane.
Can''t remember, was Raine in the running? A friend of mine just named her 3rd boy Raine.
Names are just so hard. None of the older members of my family like my son''s name. My grandfather still calls him ''the baby''

Since i am a people pleaser by nature this really bugged me, but i realized that it is *impossible* for everyone to like your name choice--even if they say so to your face. It is what it is, you have some good ones to choose from and maybe once the baby is born one will seem the obvious choice

mela--if possible i would try i few slings. I ended up wasting a lot of money on slings before i found one i liked. I have 3 and a bjorn and i can count on one hand the # of times i used them--just never did. But other moms, use them hours every day! My only advice is to try a few with your body type and see if you can weed out a design or two you don''t like before buying. They are expensive!

Sabine, Jackson's a great name! Would you use the nn Jack?

Non-pregnancy related, but exciting nonetheless: We're getting TiVo today! SO excited!

Great advice Jas. Thanks! I plan on shlepping the baby with me to the store and trying them out for sure. I already know *I* don''t like the hotsling. My GF has one and I get so frustrated trying to get her baby in the right place (within it). That''s why the Blue Celery and Baby Buddha appeal to me - no seams!

I will wait though...slings and nursing bras. both will be purchased post-bebe!

Big ditto. Many babies hate slings and many hate hard carriers like the Bjorn. I like the soft carrier because I feel like it keeps baby closer to your body and it is a lot like being swaddled when he is in it. I needed 2 loops BTW for the Buddha, otherwise he hangs too low. Also, I like the versatility of the other ways of carrying him, so I wanted all three pieces actually.

Perfect! Thanks for your review. ;) I was curious about the amount of support with just one loop.

TIVO is seriously the best investment in the entire world for the early months when you are tied to your sofa breastfeeding at all hours of the day...and Netflix is second best!

And RE: Slings- I really hated my Moby wrap after awhile because it's a PITA. It was great once it was on and Max loved being in it, but wrapping it was so cumbersome. I got that one because it was the only twin friendly one, but Dex ended up hating it. I'd choose a different/easier type the second time around for sure. Now both boys LOVE the baby Bjorns...go figure.

Well, this is only my experience. My friend likes her sling, but then again, she hasn't tried any other styles either.

What I found was, in order to get the baby into the "right" cradle-hold position, the butt had to be where the seam was. Her baby was crying while I was trying to get her in, which didn't help the situation, and I had to keep adjusting the baby to get her butt in the right place. Meanwhile, baby kept crying

The hotsling does not have stretch. You have to get the baby in right or else it's kinds awkward. IMO.

The Buddha and Blue Celery, do not have any seams and have stretch; therefore it doesn't matter where you place your baby. The sling just stretches to form around your baby.

Here is a pic of a hotsling type sling. you can see the seam....and you can imagine that the baby's butt right around that seam...

hotsling.jpg

Here is a pic of the seamless, stretchy Blue Celery (or Baby Buddha). Notice the difference?

The 'con' to this one is that the stretchy fabric makes the baby droop a bit, therefore needing the second "loop" for support (will post pic of the two loops next)

CDT - I love the name Evan. I don''t think that it''s feminine at all. It''s definitely my favorite out of the 4. I also like Lane/Layne, and I can sympathize because my DH does not like androgynous names at all, although I love them.

Sabine - Congrats on your last observation. Jackson is one of the boy names we love as well and one of the few DH and I agree on because we have very different ideas about baby names.

I had a slightly scary experience today. I went at lunch to have my second betas drawn. I don''t like getting blood drawn by any means, but I am usually fine and given that we had some trouble TTC I have been getting blood drawn all the time over the past 6 months. Today when I left the lab I had only driven about a mile when I started to feel very faint and dizzy and had to pull over quickly. I think I passed out for a few minutes and it took almost 30 min for me to recover enough to drive again. I called my mom who is a nurse and she calmed me down. I had to think quick because she does not know we are KTFU - we won''t tell her until we see my parents in person in a few weeks. I wonder if she''ll suspect now though, although she does know we were having difficulty TTC and that I am getting my blood drawn a lot. I am thinking that next time I may just hang out in the lab waiting room for a little while.

I estimate that both are a PITA in their own way. At least this stretchy one SEEMS easier to get the baby into. Then you have to get the second loop on...so not sure which is the lesser of the two evils.

*note. This message has been paid for by Mela lu, and I approve this message.

November, that''s so scary! I''ve passed out and almost passed out a few times, but never while driving! Eek! Glad you were able to pull over before it happened!

oh no!! That is so scary! I''m glad everything turned out ok in the end...but yah...next time err on the side of caution. I hope the Beta''s turn out well

and that the dizziness does not recur!

November, that happened to me the other day, too. Unfortunately we were in the market, but I was able to get a choco "shake" to raise my blood sugar, I think I''m hypoglycemic or something. Did your head hurt afterward? How are you feeling now?

Hi everyone! Just sitting here, meticulously checking for any pains and spotting, counting the days until I see that heartbeat!

AMBER - no no no! You have to do what Mandarine is doing now...which is visualizing the cells splitting and diving, growing and developing.
NO MORE thoughts of any funny bidness, you hear?

The mind is a powerful tool! Check out this daily website to help you visualize all the amazing things that your little raspberry is doing.

How many DPO are you again?

Thanks Mela! I''m trying! I''m 15dpo, still with my temps going up. So it''s feeling good! Got a random nosebleed this morning, and had a major sneeze attack last night! I''ve taken to sleeping at work for two hours or so before everyone else gets in. Fatigue is a good sign, right?

NB / Amber- ugh so sorry to hear that...yes u should wait a while after blood and eat a little smthg before u head out!

AFM update- doc was happy today that babies look great and we''ve made it this far..cervix is same and babies are both head down...so she gave me the option of VB or C...and I was totally shocked...never thought id get that option and I don''t know what to make of it...very confused??? She said no way we makin it to 38wks but even if we had them now they will be just fine..so im happy but still wanna try for 35/36!...I think she assumes it will be soon maybe 32
7.gif
but im ok with that (8mos).

Good luck to all you newly preggos! I would suggest maybe stopping temping for the time being because they can get a bit erratic at this point, and I wouldn''t want you to worry if you see a drop in temp. I was definitely nervous throughout all of first tri, and I had spotting, which made it soooo much worse. Do anything you can to keep yourselves calm!

Am I weird because slings look scary to me? We registered for a carrier like teh Bjorn, and I don''t know if I''ll even feel comfortable using that. I wish I could get over this, I feel like slings would be great for the baby and very useful!

But as for my shower drama I eluded too...my mom wanted to throw me a shower, and she planned on asking my MIL to help. Most of my friends are oot from where it would be. I assumed my MIL would want to help, but she doesn''t. We were also hoping she would offer her house as a location since my mom is in the process of moving (she''s trying to buy a house, and just renting a room month to month until she finds one). My mom doesn''t have any local relatives, and since my parents are divorce, my mom doesn''t really speak to anyone on my dad''s side. Well, MIL basically wants nothing to do with the shower. Ugh. Then my mom planned on having it at her church, but they don''t have any of our possible dates available. My mom was getting frustrated, so at that point I just said, well, if it''s easier, my friends where I live could probably help throw a shower here, although it would probably end up being at mine and dh''s townhouse (2 weeks before we move to VA). So now that is an option, but I doubt any family other than mom and MIL would come since it''s about 4 hours away.

yup! fatigue and nosebleeds are notorious. All good things.

this is what your little seed is doing tomorrow: http://www.visembryo.com/baby/7.html

Keep the faith Jon Bon!

Thank you all! Bright happy thoughts. Happy happy thoughts!

Is it for sure that your MIL doesn''t want to help, or maybe she *thinks* that you don''t need her help? Not sure...but sometimes MILs can stay out of things for fear of intruding?! Have you asked her? Awww sweetie that sux. Espesh because you SO deserve a shower to get you ready for your little one!

NYC - YEY HOORAY for the twins. They are looking mighty fine

, you must be SO relieved. Are you considering a Vag delivery? What are you thinking at this point? I''m so happy for you. 32 weeks would be great. OMG I cannot believe how soon that is! Are you ready? (haha, can I help? lol)

Just from a purely statistical POV...if both babies are head down and it''s before 34 wks c-section is safest. After 34 wks vag is safest. This is assuming no complications beforehand of course.

When both of mine were head down my doc was insisting on a c before 34 wks but after it would have been my choice.

Amber, I temped until 18 DPO. That cutoff point made me feel like I had hit some sort of magic point re: "chemical pg", and then I put it away and kept it there! Well... I did pull it out once in a while over the next weeks, since I didn''t have an appointment with my midwife until I was 10 weeks, but basically it was away. So maybe you can find some day when you think it will be a good time to stop temping, and then stick with it?

Dreamer, despite what my friends are telling me, I think I''ll temp until 18dpo, as well, that''s on Saturday. I don''t know, I hate being so paranoid. I think once I hit 18dpo, that''ll be a good spot, and then the 31st of March, when our first appointment is.

Mela- I am excited and actually now favoring vb which I never thought I would. But again we don''t know when these babies are comin...I think I wil do ffn next visit to get an idea(even tho there are false positives there) so unreal that its so close!

Neat- interesting info...y is that tho?? What''s the diff btwn 32 and 34? Well now I hope I make it to 34 bc I want to have that decision!
