Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Mela- I am excited and actually now favoring vb which I never thought I would. But again we don't know when these babies are comin...I think I wil do ffn next visit to get an idea(even tho there are false positives there) so unreal that its so close!

Neat- interesting info...y is that tho?? What's the diff btwn 32 and 34? Well now I hope I make it to 34 bc I want to have that decision!

Because the babies are just so much smaller then and their lungs/limbs/everything are less developed so they are more likely to have problems during a long labor or with being delivered.

Some doctors don't have the same opinion as mine however, but the research I have done supports my doctor's directives. So that was going to be our game plan.

Well, dh just called and tried to guilt trip his mom. So right now, Robbie is trying to book the rec. center in the town where she lives, and if it''s booked my mom will try one more rec. center, but if both don''t work then MIL will let us have it there. I felt crappy that dh had to call her and force her on it. I don''t quite know how to take her sometimes. She seems like she doesn''t want to intrude, but also doesn''t really seem that excited for her first grandchild either. She said the reason she doesn''t want to have the shower is because her house is small, but compared to our apartment we would have plenty of room (it''s only going to be about 20 people!). I''d really rather have it at a rec. center at this point though, but at least I''m not going to make people drive 4 hours oot!

Blen, I can''t believe how close you are getting! So excited for you!

NYC, glad you are hanging in there, and it''s interesting info. that Neat posted about c-section v. vag. birth.

Neat- very interesting I will def ask and see what my doc has to say about that...but im hoping to make 34 wks..stayin positive ;)

My mom is so against vb she was sooo upset that I even considered it!...she''s like it so much pain etc...ugh now im back to square 1...cuz I fell maybe c will be safest.

Looks like I''ll be joining you ladies!

I took a pregnancy test on the 16th and it came back positive!

I have a doctor''s appointment on Monday to confirm everything. But two positive pregnancy tests and no period pretty much means I''m pregnant.

What should I expect from the first appointment? Just info and peeing on a stick (or a cup) or will they draw blood?

Pregnancy tip: do not do yoga in your underwear in the third trimester. There's no other way that I would have realized that my inner thighs have stretch marks, and there's really no reason for me to need to know that right now.

Earlier this week, I had someone ask me when I'm going to be term. He's dad to kindergarden age twins, so I assumed he was wondering what the guidelines are with singleton pregnancies and answered him completely honestly - that term is considered 37 to 42 weeks for singleton pregnancies, and I'll get there on Thursday. And for some reason he took away from the conversation that Thursday was my "due date", and that rumor spread, and I've been trying to put that one to rest.
14.gif
I wasn't expecting to deal with this type of thing until I hit about 40 weeks.

NF- not quite as dramatic as 11 weeks, but after my coworkers daughter was 4 cm dilated for 3-4 weeks I'm trying to read NOTHING into that.
3.gif
I'm happy to know that my body is gearing up for labor though - hopefully these contractions aren't just going to last forever doing nothing!

November - that is scary!!! I'm glad to hear that you didn't get in an accident or anything.

Mela - I was trying to remember that website a few days ago! Thanks for posting it again.

NYC - way to go, mama! I'd talk to your doc about the risks and advantages of VB vs. C at various gestational ages. Honestly, I wouldn't be scared away from VB just because it's painful - so is surgery, you know? But if one's safer for you and the babies than the other, that's something to pay attention to.

Sabine - sorry about all of the drama.

Taovandel - congrats and welcome!

CDT - Kent was going to be my name, if I was a boy. I have a little bit of a soft spot for it because of it. I like Warren the most though, followed by Evan. I don't dislike Dane, but it just doesn't really appeal to me either.

Fiery - that's ridiculous with the testing!! I'm so mad at them.

Robbie - TRE is quite cute, although I can see the mixups from multiple people with the same name getting really old.

ETA - I noticed that hubby has been calling the baby "she" today and talking about "his girls", and he's been solidly team blue all along. I finally asked him what was up. He noticed our mw slipping up with the pronouns too, yesterday, and doesn't think that she's just toying around with us or anything like that. So he's come around to thinking girl. It will be interesting to see. And I'm sure our poor middie doesn't know that she's been doing it.

TOTALLY NON-preggers related........... I''M MARRIED!!!!! WOOT!!!! We got married at a small Gazeebo in our town. It was a VERY small event. Just 7 people and us. Had the ceremony at about 11am-ish and then went to my new inlaws for a home cooked Irish lunsh. Cornedbeef/cabbage etc. Then we drove to Atlantic City in the evening and had a nice dinner and walked around. Had a GREAT suit at the Borgata. Then drove to Cape May and rode around looking at the houses and walked a bit. Then drove back home. It was PERFECT!

Quick drive by- for those of you that have been discussing slings, mamabargains has Slinglings for $18.50 right now, but check FAST if you''re interested, they are going fast!

Amber, I stopped temping immediately with my first pregnancy. With the second though I temped until 12dpo (got my bfp pat 10dpo). I was so scared of having another chemical, but after taking another test on 12dpo and seeing that the line was darker (never really got darker the first time) I realized that making myself crazy wouldn''t affect the outcome one way or another and I needed to just let it go. It was hard and I think I took at least one more hpt, but it helped me relax a little.

Sabine, in case you''re checking from work, the 24th is open at the rec center! The guy who I need to book with comes in at 10 and I''ve left a message for him to call me back. So, hopefully within the next hour or so we should have your location all booked! Turns out it''s actually in the rec center, not the old library building like I thought. That building''s pretty new though (definitely built after we went to college) and really nice.

Congrats Taovandel! At the first appointment they usually check your blood pressure, weight, take a history (either get DH to write his family history down or bring him with you!), do blood work, go over a ton of info (what to eat, what to avoid, what tests are available, etc) and generally do a pee test to verify that you''re pregnant. Most people find it to be a bit of a let down since early on you can''t really see anything or hear the heartbeat. Some people will get an ultrasound to date the pregnancy, but a lot of Dr''s will wait til you''re a bit further along so that they can confirm there''s a heartbeat at the same time. Good luck!

...And I hit send before I was done. Oops.

Blen, I can''t believe you''re almost term! Holy cow! I will definitely not be doing any yoga in my undies. Not that I''m doing yoga anyway, but I don''t want to know about any stretchmarks that I can''t see without contorting myself! DH started referring to our baby as "she" as well. He''s thought it''s a girl for a while, but he''d still been referring to it as "he." I decided that I''m going to randomly start referring to the baby by some of the names on our list. I texted DH from photography class yesterday that Nathan had the hiccups. I didn''t think he''d know who I was talking about, but he did. Didn''t even question why I was referring to our child by a name we haven''t agreed on yet, lol.

Congrats, Sapphire!

As for me, I just realized that I will spend my last week as a 25-year-old being 25 weeks pregnant and my first week as a 26-year-old being 26 weeks pregnant! Technically I''ll have 1 day where I''m 26 and 25w6d since my bday is on a Sunday and my weeks roll over on Saturday, but close enough.

Congrats Sapphire on your Nuptuals

Congrats Tao on your pregnancy!!!

Robbie - is being 25 during your 25th week (etc) kinda like having a ''champagne'' birthday...only different?
11.gif
Can you get champagne and pampering out of it?! lol.

Blen - yey!! Almost at term!!! (not due, just "term"). haha.

Sabine - I hope the dust on this shower thing settles soon. xo.

Mela 30w6d

Congrats on making it to term, Blen! You are so close! I wonder how Mrs. is doing.

34 weeks today!

LOL, no idea Mela! Can''t hurt to try though.
2.gif
I''d never heard of a champagne birthday so I googled it. My bffs when I was little (the twins who lived next door and were a year older than me) used to call it your special birthday. Their birthday was April 6th so for a whole year when they were 5 and I was 4 I heard about how they''d have their special birthday and turn 6 on the 6th. I was so sad that I didn''t get to have my special birthday until I was 29! I''m still looking forward to it, lol. I was actually just wondering the other day if it would be weird to send them a message on facebook in 3 years and be like, "ha, now it''s my special birthday!"
3.gif
LOL.
2.gif

Woohoo! the room is ours for Sabine''s shower! I just have to go fill out some paperwork and drop off the check today after work. I need a doing a little dance smiley.

Courtney, I''ve been wondering about Mrs. too! I hope she''s just so busy enjoying her little one that she hasn''t had a chance to even think about PS.

hahah. I WOULD! I FB''d my old next door neighbour - out of the blue - because I always wondered what happened to him. We played a lot together as little kids.

DO IT! How funny. "special birthday" Awwwwwwww.

Hi gals! I am having an issue that hopefully you can help me with. I'm 5w1d, and I'm having a LOT of trouble eating. I'm somewhat nauseated and vomiting occasionally, but mostly every food seems absolutely disgusting. Even foods I usually like! If I didn't have to eat at all right now I wouldn't, because I have very little appetite. However, I've already lost 3 pounds and I'm worried that the baby is not getting sufficient nutrition. Help! Thanks so much.
9.gif

Peony - I was like that too in the beginning, although I never actually got sick (only a few times), but was nauseous ALL day and food just did not appeal to me. Is there anything though that you can eat??? Even if it''s pizza..eat it!! I had to force myself to eat in those early weeks and for some (bad) reason I could only stomach pizza and french fries!! I also ate a TON of ritz crackers....I carried them with me all the time and ate them throughout the day to help w/ the nausea. The longer you go w/out eating the more sick you''ll feel (at least for me).

Try to find something you can stomach and just eat that. At least it''s something! Like I said I ate really bad in the 1st trimester (i also drank a lot of sprite), but as soon as the sickness was gone I was able to resume my normal, healthy eating habits.

Hang in there!!

Peony it is totally normal, don't worry. And even losing a little weight is ok. My doc said just to eat anything that appealed, even if it was ice cream all the time. Your baby will pull what it needs from you.

Try water crackers, watermelon, and strawberries in small amounts, those helped me. Even if it's 1 strawberry an hour it's better than nothing!

You can also talk to your doc about meds if it gets really bad.

ETA: And it's a GOOD sign! While lack of nausea doesn't mean anything, having nausea is a good sign that the bean is sticking!

Ah, welcome to the wonderful world of morning sickness. What you're feeling is normal. It sounds a lot like what I experienced (though I didn't vomit, but gagged a ton) and what I can recommend is to drink a lot of water and force yourself to eat whatever you think you can stomach. Fruit smoothies were great. I found that by keeping a little something in my stomach throughout the day, I felt better. I remember hearing that vitamin B6 helps with nausea, though be sure to check with your doctor about dosage (and for a thumbs up). And don't forget your prenatal!
2.gif

The baby's taking what it needs from you, so try not to worry there- just make sure you're getting enough.

ETA: cdt/neat beat me to it!

peony- i feel ya girl.. the longer i go w/out eating the absolute WORSE i feel. agreed, even if you can only manage saltines, they will make you feel a ton better. (speaking of, a full sleeve is one serving size right? :P

i start the day (like as sooooon as i get up) with peanut butter on bread - and have to force it down. i try not even to think about the taste, just that the rush of carbohydrates and protein will make me feel better in a few mins. i then run to the couch to cower under a blanket until it works.. watching the news or something is a good distraction from the nausea. after about 10mins i''ll drag myself back into the kitchen to grab a 1/2 water 1/2 oj and continue on my morning routine. i''ve found that i actually have to get up about 20mins earlier so i am not late for work, but then again, i''m going to bed at 9:00 :P

anyhoo, vegetables (which i luuuuuvvveee) are completely grossing me out.. i''m not stressing that i''m not eating any vegetables.. i''m just waiting for this to pass :)

quick question.. what are your immediate feelings about the name carter? too trendy? too cutesy? just cute/classic enough??

thanks!!!

Vizsla - i love Carter!! i think it''s one of those names that is adorable on a little boy, but will be very grown up as an adult too...if that makes sense?? Great choice!

Morning everyone! I have been waking up super early every morning which drives me insane! I want to sleep until my alarm goes off, but instead I wake about 45 minutes early- so annoying! I am still planning on temping until 18dpo, which is Saturday, and hopefully after that I''ll just get used to the ol'' day by day thing. This morning my temp was 97.96, even though yesterday it was 98.17, hopefully it''s okay and normal. I''m using all the pregnancy tests I''ve have stocked up in the cupboard, and every test says I''m still pregnant- including a Clear Blue Easy digital and a regular Answer one. The test line is still a bit lighter than the control line, but not that much lighter. Today I managed to get another migraine which is really painful, as now I''ve had two migraines in five days! I''m still a bit achy in the ute area, and sometimes nauseous, which is oh so fun. I''m trying to make it day by day- this uselessness is terrible!

amber - put the pg tests away GIRL you are KFU and it''s sticking! :) i totally remember headaches and all sorts of weird things (big pimples) annoying aches and pains.. i think these are all good signs.. it means your body is getting ready to house a baby for 9 (10) months.. rush of hormones, stretching, lots of fun stuff :P

i will say though, that seeing that flicker yesterday was such a relief! from what i''ve read the chances for m/c go down greatly after they confirm a heartbeat... (am i making this up?) so only a couple more weeks until you see your flicker.. it''s grand

________________

thanks for the vote of confidence for carter. for some reason i really have it in my head that i''m having a boy.. so any name that i suggest to DH is always a boy''s name. he''s yet to come up with one, and i think secretly he enjoys the veto factor (read: almost all of my suggestions.) i can tell this process is going to be oh so much fun. however, carter is a name that he didn''t hate, didn''t know someone with that name, didn''t have any thing to say except that "it sounds like you are trying to be trendy" - this trendy thing is really holding him up.. i loooooove the name emmett. all he can say is "it sounds so trendy" - the boy better come up with a better reason ;) i also love the name wes - not weston, or wesley - just wes.. is that weird?

Viszla - LOVE CARTER!! Great name, and although it *could* be seen as trendy, I think it''s here to stay. It''s just part of a new generation of names; like Aiden, Ethan etc. They were not that popular in the past, but they are now, and probably will be for years to come. Wes is cute too! Wes. What is the long version for real though? Wesley?

Morning sickness. for my first 16 weeks, I could only choke down carbs and protein. My baby is just fine as a result. After the m/s went away, I dove head first into fruits and veggies and have been ''healthy'' ever since. Try to get through it...and remember, if it gets really bad, as for meds. Apparently they are a life saver. Hang in there!

oh how i love me some carbos and cheese right now :) heaven.. luckily i''ve started to enjoy fruit again.. it''s a lifesaver in the "just to get things mooooving dept" :P

ummmm i don''t know why not wesley... part of me is against super formal names (that sound really weird - considering my name is super formal and i like it - go figure)

PLUS, i also have an aversion to nicknames. i like the name just to be the name. so if i''m going to call him wes, i would just name him wes.. does that make sense? that''s why i like carter, emmett, myles - can''t do anything with them - the name is the name. dh has a name that you can''t shorten and i love it.. i tried to get him to agree on calvin - but he said #1 it was trendy #2 it was too close to his name and would be silly.

oh, and i take it back, he''s given one name suggestion... alice - and while i don''t hate it, i don''t love it... i just think of mel''s diner... (i really dated myself with that one didn''t i? :)

Blen- u r almost there woohooo! And u r def having a girl! ;)

Sapphire-congrats! Love the borgata ..stay there all the time..those suites are amazin!

Peony- same here in beginning...only could eat fruits and fizzy waters..anything light....to this day I don''t have apetite....

Duno about all those "craving" stories but I still can''t stand food...I think I''ve gained maybe 10lbs in all...I was scared bc I hear all of these weight gaining stories...friend of mine gained 65lbs with a singleton! But my doc says she''s not even mentioning or concerned about weight bc babies are growin and take what they need...so in the end I will be thinner than I was before pg!...im losin weight but they gaining...not bad at all!

Isn''t it weird what the stomach craves? For a while I was living on bagels, french fries, and granny smith apples. Sometimes even plain pasta was enough to upset my stomach. I''m so glad that has passed!

However, after reaching 20 weeks yesterday, (woohoo!!!) I threw up in the shower this morning! I''m still having days like this, but they are very few and far between. The thing that really stinks for me is that I have to take thyroid medicine on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, and then wait an hour to eat, so some mornings I just need to throw up and get it out of my system.

Vizla, I really like both Carter and Emmett! I would totally suggest Carter to my husband, except our last name starts with a K and we''ve nixed any alliterative names! Do you like the name Fletcher at all?

NYC - tee hee about the babies gaining and you staying the same! I WISH!!! I've already gained 26lbs so far.

Viszla - I like the idea of not being able to create nicknames. That is why Christian is not a consideration for us as a first name; it gets shortened to "Chris". I love Myles (or Miles). In fact, these are my favourite names that I *would* consider if we weren't hell bent on having a latin based name:

Spencer
Miles
Conrad
James

Love all these for a boy. Classic, strong, and hard to screw up with terrible a shortform.

A lot of people are suggesting the name, Sebastian, to us. I like it...but not for me.
17.gif

ETA: sabine. Funny you mention the alliteration. My parents are SO upset we're not alliterizing (is that a real word? don't think so...). They wanted a G-G baby.
20.gif
I guess to call Gigi. lol.

I was loving the name Sebastian, but DH (who is a teacher) tries to think of whatever nicknames he can for the name- to see just how bad it could get. So, I said, "How about Sebastian?" And he said, "Seabass? I don''t think so." Seabass?! What kind of child would think of calling ANOTHER child Seabass?

Kids are so mean. They'll make a mean-name out of ANYTHING!!!
so for that reason, I'm not veto'ing any name because of potential teasing. If they want to tease...then they'll find SOMETHING to tease about
29.gif
. for example. I had a birthmark on my face growing up (it's faded in my adult years) and they used to call me "chocolate milk" or "Dirty face". Whatever. If it's not one thing...it's something else.
20.gif

vizsla, I like Carter a lot! Great choice. I knew the cutest, snuggliest baby boy named Carter, so I only have good associations with it.

I like Sebastian, too- Amber, tell Paul that if Seabass is the worst he's called, he'll survive!
3.gif
Kids WILL find a way to twist any name- I was teased for my initials, and they didn't even spell anything 'bad.'

Sabine- Congratulations on hitting the 20 week mark and on finding a shower spot!

Blen- Happy 37 weeks!

Sapphire- Congratulations on getting married! Yay!

Yesterday was my first full day of smaller, more manageable meals, and I had very little heartburn. Hooray! Let's hope I can continue the small meals and make a trend out of this decent, heartburn-free feeling. Doubtful, as I seem to get hungrier every day, but I can try, darn it.

24 (!!!) weeks today.
