Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Pandora, I''m so sorry you''re in that much pain. Definitely get that cortisone shot. I don''t see why they would give you a hard time about that. I hope you get some relief soon. At least you dont have to sit at work during this time, right? Can you imagine?

On a good note, you''re 32 weeks! Wowsa. You''re right behind me!

Speaking of medications safe during pregnancy....in the breastfeeding class I attended last weekend, the instructor passed around a "medications and breastfeeding" index book. Looking up the hydrocodone, it stated the pregnancy category as being B, not C. I thought that was interesting. The breastfeeding category was L3 which is moderately safe.

I have no idea if any of you have experienced this, but before getting pregnant, when I would sleep on one side for most of the night, I would sometimes wake up with my ear hurting. Not the inside, just the outside and it wasn''t very often at all. Well, now that I sleep on my side, it''s happening a lot! I woke up last night with my right ear hurting horribly! Anyone heard of this or experienced it?

Courtney My birthday is April 28th! and my nephew''s is the 30th ;)

Fiery, I am semi-convinced my DH married me because of my cooking skills...LOL. The man loves to eat and I love to cook, so it was a match made in kitchen heaven! haha. There are many easy things you can make and the more you cook, the easier certain things become! You think they are girls? My sister said the same thing about the one laying on its side. Hmm...I''d love two girls, but then again, I''d love any combination!

Pandora, I am so sorry you''re in pain
8.gif
I hope they can do the injections and that makes you feel better!

Fisher, Thank you so mcuh!!!

9.gif
Isn''t it crazy how fast the little ones grow?. I don''t "feel" pregnant...I guess nobody really does this early on, so seeing them is just amazing!. DH said he thought one of them was a boy...I told him that was a leg! haha, men!
9.gif

Blen, Thanks!. I''m happy you slept well!!! You are so so so so so close!!!/ Does anyone here have your contact info so we can get news??

Tao, Congrats!!! Welcome to the group!!

Natalina, I don''t really know the difference between bloat and bump...but I feel bloated, so I guess I''m bloated. My jeans don''t really fit comfortably anymore and I have gained about 2 lbs so far. I''m trying to eat super healthy, but just more often and what not. I have been taking pictures and you can definitely see a difference, but not enough for anyone to guess I''m pregnant (so I''m probably teh only one that notices...hehe)

Phoenix, Congrats on the ultrasound!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn''t it wonderful??. I''m still on Cloud 9
30.gif

Sunkist, Thank you!!! When is your first appointment??? It''s so exciting to hear/see the little ones, I can''t wait for you to get your own set of pictures!

DD, Mela, Fiery, Sabine, Ebree Thank you!!!

You guys are all so sweet!

Sorry if I missed anyone! I hope you are all doing great!!!

Blen - glad to hear you slept
41.gif

Fiery - which 3 did he veto? Just curious...

Pandora - I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. So sorry you're in so much pain! BOO. Hopefully you can get that shot.

Off to the middie today! I'm every two weeks now...31w4d.

Also I blame Lindsay and her adorable burp cloths for setting me down this very slippery Etsy slope.

Blen When the contractions are real, they will hurt a fair bit, even in the beginning. So if you are still okay to go to work etc., then it is probably still the prodromal/early labour preparing your cervix!
That''s why I never bothered to call my midwife... I was just really hoping it would be something because I''m not looking forward to labor after a bunch of nights like the last one! Hopefully tonight will go better.
The week before I went into labour, I felt the same way! I really wanted labour to start at 9am after a long night of sleep! Well, in the end my water broke at 1am and I hadn''t gone to sleep until midnight
20.gif
By the time Hunter was born, I''d been awake for 36 hours. I think that is a common story for many first time moms because labour can be longer.

That's reason enough to put Bianca on my top 10

We have Layla on our list too. I'll add Liliana and ask FI what he thinks. Thanks for the suggestions!

PS--ALL the new babies are beautiful!!! Mrs, your daughter is one of the most beautiful newborns I have ever seen. Congrats!
36.gif

MRS - Sage is so beautiful and I love her name.

Mandarine - Your little babies look so cute in there! I''m jealous you have gotten to see them twice already. I think I am going to guess two girls for you as well - will you be finding out the sex?

Mela - All the etsy postings are adorable! I have decided not to buy anything until we hear a heartbeat, but that will hopefully be in the next week or so. Then watch out!

Robbie - That''s too bad to hear about BRU, they are currently builiding a huge new one next to my office, I was planning to do a lot of shopping on my lunch hours.

My first appt is next weds and I can''t wait.

I am going home to my parents this weekend for a friend''s bridal shower. It is going to be so hard not to tell my parents, but I know I won''t since DH won''t be with me and I would not want to do it without him. My mom and I are super close though, so I''ll be biting my tongue.

Anyone on www.babysteals.com?

Today''s "steal" is really nice!

OMG, argyle babylegs! Did you find them at Etsy? Must. resist. urge.

Eh, who cares? I'm buying! DH is going to be thrilled. They will not be the first piece of argyle clothing I've purchased for our son.

I resisted buying anything for baby until about 28 weeks. It's been a very slippery slope since

I just got my feedback from my Manager and it went really well. I’m always looking for feedback and would set up lunches with my old boss to see where I can develop/improve. I hadn’t had an opportunity to do that with my new boss. Plus, I didn’t know how he was feeling since we both used to be Seniors and he applied for the manager position and got it. We went from a team of one manager and three auditors to just he and I. So at the meeting he mentioned that he feels silly being a manager since the last person that needs managing is me. That made my pregnant hormonal self feel great! The company is starting this out of college rotational program. We''re getting a guy that will be in our department for 6 months before rotating out to other areas of Finance. They''re assigning this guy to me so that I can develop him. That should be fun.

Mela-He vetoed Flora (Boo to him), Lucia, and another name I can’t think of because he had said so-so to it and then later changed his mind.

Mela sorry for enabling your Etsy addiction!

So today I am 34w 1d and I am working 4 hour days from now until the C-section. I have been having a lot of pelvic pain (had pelvic reconstruction 5 years ago) and sitting all day at the computer was causing a lot of pain. I joke that I am on "recliner rest" as the recliner in my living room is the only comfortable place for me to be -- way more comfortable than lying in bed!

I have felt a lot better since I cut my hours starting last week. I can''t say that I''ve been resting much more, it''s just encouraged more nesting! Today for instance I''ve been IRONING the husband''s jeans (I do not iron), FOLDING socks (normally I roll them into a ball), and re-organizing our closet. Andddddd I''m enjoying it.

But Miss Natalie is finally starting to make me really uncomfortable. I went in for my latest U/S and the little acrobat who has been head down since 22 weeks... is now frank breech! She''s up very high which is soooo uncomfortable! If I''ve been lying down and go to get up, it feels like all of my internal organs are being absolutely smashed, and takes a minute to settle down -- ouch. I hope she re-orients herself soon for my comfort!

Mandy my first appt isn''t until April 10th. I wish it was sooner. This morning I have the tiniest bit of brown tinged CM. And I''m still feeling small crampies. I''m sure everything is fine, I just want to see my babe and see the heartbeat already :)

Also, is everyone''s boobs supposed to change upon getting pregnant? I don''t have any soreness, or see any veins, or getting bigger at all. I''m around 5w3d today.

Linds-Sorry you are so uncomfortable

My breasts never got sore. I went up one cup size around 12 weeks (I remember cause I got new bras for Christmas from my mom and it was a D. I kept thinking there was no way it would fit and sure enough...) But since then I haven''t had to purchase other bras.

I did notice the veins this weekend. I''m one sexy chick. Yes I am.

Sunkist, I'm supposedly 5w2d (I am soo confused by all these EDDs, going from 11/22-11/24), and my boobs are a bit sore, and I don't know if the veins have always been here or not, but I see them- then again, I'm translucent pale!
1.gif
I've noticed my nipples went from itching like crazy to now super sore when pinched (or just squeezed)- not that we've experimented,
31.gif
and now they look bigger, and seem to always be out, which drives me batty. I'm still feeling random crampies as well, not consistently like I was before, but off and on. No spotting of any kind for me as of now (knock on wood), nothing else different aside from stuffy nose/runny nose constantly and the jugs.

I kind of wish I felt more symptoms, but it's still early days yet. My first appointment is 3/31.

Mandarine: cute twin pictures!! It must feel so good to see your little bits!

Snlee: thanks for the congrats!

Blen: not too long now!

Lindsey: Hope the next few weeks are smooth!

Fiery: There are a lot of names that weren't vetoed! We've already got a girl name, but boys names are harder.

Hello to LittleLysser, Robbie, Sabine, Courtney, CDT, NYCBK, November, Phoenix, China, Peony and Natalina! Hope I didn't miss anyone!

ETA: DANG, EBREE! How could I miss you? When I know you almost IRL!

ETA2: Crap! Viszla, too! Sorry!

sunkist,

Some women have serious growth, and others (like me!) don't. Mine have increased a single cup size, if that. I do notice quite a few veins where there weren't any (visible) before, and soreness comes and goes- it really depends on the day.

hey ladies.. wanted to comment on the runny nose.. OMG did my nose run constantly from wk 5-7... then i got a sweet cold.
i also had tinged cm and cramps .. still do actually.. it''s just stretching out down there :) my girlfriend told me i''d feel the same thing after delivery.. shrinkage :)

anyhoodles i know this is just a drive by and i''ve missed a ton of ppl (sage, OMG is THE cutest newborn ever - and i have two nieces :) but i''m out of here for the night.. headed straight for the couch :)

Hi ladies! I have been on a PS break since I returned to work on January 12th. I love being a mom, but between A and my job, I have little time for anything else. (Good lord, my house is a mess, lol!)
20.gif
A just turned 5 months on Saturday, and I cannot believe she is that old already. She was small to medium when she was born (7 lbs, 5 oz; 19 in), but she is getting so big (15 lbs, 26.5” at her 4 month appointment, which is 80th percentile for weight and 97th for height). She laughs and smiles a lot, and tries to have conversations – she is such fun generally, but she is starting to get very fussy at night and we think her teeth will start to come in soon.)

I have been very quickly skimming pages trying to catch up – mostly looking for birth announcements. I am through February 13th now. I still have 5.5 weeks and 44 pages to go (!), so I am not sure I will make it all the way through.
23.gif
Anyone want to give me a quick recap on births in February and March?

SBDE, congrats on the birth of little jelly!
36.gif
I’d love to see pics if you are comfortable posting them.

Loves2laugh, Parker Jacob is such a cutie! Love the name too. Congrats!
36.gif

NF, love the 1 month photos of Dex and Max -- they are so adorable!

Courtney, the 4d US of your daughter using the placenta as a pillow is so precious.

Pandora, I’m sorry the internal appeals process was so painful for you. At least your lawyers think the result was good for your court case. I will keep my fingers crossed for you on that front.

This picture of A is a few months old, but I can’t resist posting it because she just looks so happy. I’m afraid the newer pics are still on the memory card in my camera, not on my computer.

Despite the good nights sleep, I'm now EXHAUSTED.
14.gif
I've also been feeling nauseated and crampy and achy all afternoon. I think I'm just ready to be DONE. During lunch I scheduled another massage for Thursday evening; hopefully that'll give me enough of a boost to get through another week of work if baby decides that's what I need to do. She offers discounts if you buy 4 at a time, so I just did. I figure that I can go for weekly massages if baby doesn't come for another 3-4 weeks (1+ might be post-partum). If baby's here sooner, she can do a mama, daddy, and baby post-partum massage so I can put two towards that, if I'm feeling nice.
11.gif

Mandarine- Robbie and NF have my contact info, but since I'll most likely birth at home, I'm not sure if it would be any easier to pass news through them or not.

Courtney - that's so funny about your birth.

Pandora - so sorry about all of the pain.

Lindsey - I hope that Miss Natalie reorients herself too. Ouch.

Fiery - glad to hear that the name conversation went well! Good thinking with the food.

Mela - after you posted about baby legs yesterday, I registered for some argyle ones. Trying sooo hard not to actually buy them. Must wait until grandparents get into town and have them spend the money instead.
11.gif

November - BRU next to your office sounds dangerous.
3.gif

Sunkist - I hope everything's ok. My boobs changed a ton (and I have the stretch marks to prove it), but I think that some others have barely changed at all. I think almost anything falls into the range of normal in that category.

Kay - OMG, A looks so happy. I love her chubby cheeks.

Recap of birth annoucement in Feb-Mar

DD -- Her son Hunter Anthony was born at 9:11pm on Saturday, February 21, 2009. He weighed 8lbs. 7oz. and was 21 inches long!
MRS -- Her baby daughter Sage Helen on March 16th, 2009. She weighed 6 lbs 11 oz, and was 19 inches long!

Here''s my cutie!!!!!!

Pandora, so sorry about the pain.

I hope you can get the injection.

Blen, glad you slept better last night!

Um, is there such a thing as pregnancy rage? Because I have been on the warpath at work. Granted, I have a couple of the worst students I have ever had this year . . . lying, manipulating, rude, rude, rude, etc. But normally I am very "zen," as a student called it. I just calmly explain, "I know you lied because of the following, and this behavior is unacceptable because x, y, z, and you will receive the following consequence." But not anymore. We had a laugh about it in one of my English classes today because a girl tried to interrupt that class to "explain" to me why she had lied to my sub yesterday to get out of class (she''s not allowed to leave based on past lying/skipping, and when the sub found out she went to look for her, and surprise, surprise she wasn''t where she said she was going). I told her no and slammed the door in her face, and later when we were discussing tone I asked the class what my tone had been when I answered the door. Angry, spiteful, bitter, "rageful" were all spot-on answers.
2.gif
Then I banished the lying girl from sitting near my desk when she tried to garner the sympathy of those sitting around her by distorting the truth. She always does this, but normally I figure it''s just normal behavior of juveniles who are already two grades behind and in trouble with the courts, and I ignore it. But the rage won''t allow me to sit there and listen to somebody lie about me! In fact, the rage makes me want to go out and beat a punching bag to a pulp!

I really need to go for a run, but I ran for the first time in a while on Sunday and my right shin needs a little more recovery time. Tomorrow.

OK, enough about the rage . . . isn''t the baby just so cute?

paging NEAT (as always lol) - ? about the co sleeper...i wanted to get one but they arent on wheels ...i want one on wheels so i can move to living room and where i need to. what do u keep them in while in other rooms????

We have a Pack n Play in the living room and the cosleeper in the bedroom. I don't know of any that have wheels...that doesn't sound super safe to me. Also just a note that we aren't using the cosleeper as a cosleeper anymore because the babies are just too loud. So we are using it as a freestanding bassinet. So something to consider.

We also have 2 bouncers and two bumbos that I can put them in (now that they are older) when I need to have them in the kitchen or something.

Your house is about to become a plastic wasteland!!!

Blen You are welcome to pass info along through me if you want to!

Big congrats to DD and Mrs!

36.gif
I will scroll through later and try to find pics. (Thank you for the update, Lili!)

Blen, Fiery, nycbk, Lili, thanks so much for the compliments. I just love my little angel
12.gif
(even when she is acting like the devil at her 10 pm “cranky time,” lol).

Blen, you are getting so close now girl!

Lili, I will try to find my way over to the mommies thread soon – I guess it is time I graduate to that thread.

Phoenix, cute pic! Those hormones can definitely kick into rage mode.

NF, lol re the “plastic wasteland.” At first I struggled against all the brightly colored plastic bits in my formerly tastefully decorated home, but now I have just surrendered to the inevitable.

So, my baby is 5 months old, and I am finally getting around to finishing writing up my L&D story. Oh well, I’m late for everything. (Birth announcement cards were just ordered last week.)
20.gif
Sorry this is a bit longwinded. Hopefully it will be useful for moms planning an induced labor.

In the weeks leading up to my induction, I had not had any contractions, or at least nothing I was sure was a contraction, and DD showed no signs of coming out without prodding. Five days past my EDD, I checked into the hospital at 7 pm for an induction. By 8:30 my IV was in, and I received the first dose of Cytotec (a cervical ripening agent) around 9 pm. I was at 1.5 cm when I arrived at the hospital (as I had been for the previous two weeks). After 4 hours, I was still only at 1.5 cm, so the nurse gave me another dose. Around 6 am, my cervix was about the same, so the nurse gave me a third dose of Cytotec. I was not in any real pain (at least childbirth related) during this process. I did not have any strong contractions. I had injured my shoulder a week prior, and have old knee and ankle injuries, so I was very uncomfortable in the hospital bed and could not sleep during the long, boring hours while we waited for my cervix to dilate. I was also ravenously hungry, so I was whining a lot to DH, but it was not bad compared to stories I hear from other people.

My OB showed up at 7:30 am when he came on shift. My cervix was at 2 cm, and my OB decided to give the Cytotec another hour to work, and then start the Pitocin. A little after 8 am, the anesthesiologist arrived. He gave me an IV dose of a fast-acting, short-duration narcotic that made me very relaxed and a little loopy. Then he put in the epidural. I had been very nervous about it because I hate needles and the thought of one going into my spine made me nauseous. The only part that hurt was the shot he gave me to numb the area before doing the epi – the epi placement did not hurt at all. They gave the epi a little time to work, and then started the Pitocin. Thanks to the narcotic and the epi, I was able to dose a bit. The Pitocin finally made me dilate, and by the time they checked me around 4 pm, I was at 10 cm.

They had me start pushing around 5 pm. Unfortunately, I had pushed the button on the epi shortly before they told me it was time to start pushing, so I could not feel much. I was watching the monitor to see when the contractions were coming so I could push. The nurse monitored me for the first hour of pushing, then my Dr. was there for the next half hour, doing perineal massage during each set of pushes. Around 6:30, the Dr. said he thought it was time for some intervention. Every time I pushed, the baby made it to +3, but then retracted back to 0, so I was making no progress. When he said “intervention,” I started getting upset because I thought he meant a C section. I couldn’t imagine that I had gone through 22 hours of an induction, rather than the planned C we had contemplated, only to end up with a C. Then he explained he wanted to use forceps to grab the baby’s head when she was at the +3 station mid-contraction, to keep her from retracting back up. I had to have a 2nd degree episiotomy to make room for the forceps. On the next contraction, I pushed and he captured the baby’s head with the forceps as planned. Then he held her in place until the next contraction so I could push her out. It was a very uncomfortable and nerve-racking couple of minutes while he held the baby with the forceps inside me waiting for the next contraction to come. Then Alexis was out and wailing! DH was tearing up as soon as he saw her. The Dr. had DH cut the cord. [I must say my OB is very skilled with forceps – A didn’t have a mark on her.]

Before A was born, I had mentioned to the nurse that they could feel free to clean the baby up a little before putting her on my chest, but they just put her on me right after she came out. She was quite a sight: her skin was blue and covered with white “cheese” and her hair was bright red with blood. I’m embarrassed to admit it wasn’t love at first sight for me. I was happy to see my daughter and know she was healthy, but I was in such shock at that point from the episiotomy and delivery that I wasn’t sure what to feel. I was very shaky, particularly because the Dr. was still sewing me up, so I asked DH to take her because I was afraid I would drop her.

Our first night with her in the hospital was a bit rough. The nurse tried to help me breast feed, but A just couldn’t latch on properly. The nurse actually squeezed such of the colostrum from my nipples in A’s mouth so she would get some. A cried when she was in the plastic hospital “bassinet,” so DH and I couldn’t sleep. She was also afraid of the dark, and the only lighting options in the room were pretty bright. (If I have another baby I am packing a nightlight.) Sometime around 2 or 3 am, I was holding A trying to comfort her and unsuccessfully get her to feed, when she fell asleep with her head on my left breast. I ended up holding her like that for the next 4 hours while she slept. I think my warm skin and heartbeat comforted her. I was afraid to fall asleep myself and drop her, so I just watched her sleep for hours, and watched the sun rise and the sunlight move over her face. That was when I truly fell in love with my new daughter.

Some of you have discussed whether you want your baby cleaned up before they put him/her on you. Here’s what my little girl looked like immediately after birth. A little scary, huh? We called her our red, white and blue all-American baby.

IMG_3889-25.JPG

Kay- im so glad u shared ur story and also happy that u didn''t go thru 22hrs for nothing and did have ur natural delivery! Forceps do indeed sound extra scary but when u trust the skill of ur ob then its worth it. I hope u enjoy every minute with her bc she is so precious. Congrats again mama!

Neat- well I thought to get either 2 bassinets or 2 mini cosleepers (they have wheels)...this way we can be moveable...I don''t see how it would be dangerous...all bassinets do have wheels no?? I wouldn''t put 2 babies in 1 but just get seperate ones..what do u think?

Oo, thanks everyone for replies on the boob symptoms. I''m just dying to see some more signs here

I''m really tired today. Well, it''s either tired or really hungry. Funny, but I can''t seem to tell the difference. But either way I''m still not done with my day. I have to run out and buy some ice cream sundae stuff for a church activity. But all I want is
