Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Huge Lost fan here too! I like Sawyer as a name as well, but dh really doesn''t. I think I like the name more because he is probably my favorite character. It doesn''t hurt that he is gorgeous though!

Fiery, I can''t believe you like Ben. He annoys the crap out of me. Especially now that we see young Ben in the new episodes (hope that isn''t too much a spoiler for anyone). Jack has been annoying me lately as well.

China, I am indeed a shorty. I used to refuse to go out in public without heels on, but that has had to go out the window a bit. I still wear small heels most days to work, but I really hate being short.

So excited that Blen hasn''t been back...no news is good news!

NF you get major props for bfing those 2 cuties!

I seriously think I''ve developed pregnancy seasonal affected disorder. I''m soooo tired and cranky today, and there''s no reason since I went to bed at about 8:30 last night
23.gif
! But I had been tired and cranky for most of the past rainy days, and I feel bad because I keep taking it out on dh.

OMG Sawyer is so delicious
18.gif
. By the end of Season 3 I was so annoyed with Jack that I can''t find him good looking anymore LOL

So I was hoping for a Baby Blen update before I posted my vent of the week (really of the day if you knew me in person).

MIL has recruited more people in her battle to be in the delivery room despite FI mentioning to her that we want it to be a private moment. How do I know she''s recruiting people? Because at a birthday party yesterday her neighbor tells me that if I have a c-section then only one person is allowed but for a normal birth I can have as many as I want. AND it can still be private even if his mother is there. She told me that it is a beautiful moment that shoud be shared with everyone in the family. She said everyone should include my mom, his mother, his dad, and his grandmother and that she was there for the birth of all 5 of her grandchildren with no problem. She says all of this while I was sitting alone (FI was bbqing during the convo) with his dad, mom, and grandmother. I was first passive agressive about it. I said that I undrstood some peole enjoy that but I don''t. My mom isn''t going to be there because she knows this is a private moment for me. Her neighbor went on to say that I was being ridiculous
29.gif
because they stand behind me and nothing can be seen.

At this point I was just mad and told her it had nothing to do with my body. We didn''t have an audience the night she was conceived, we''re not going to have an audience when she comes into the world. Everyone can see her after she arrives. I know his mom and dad were hurt but damn. Talk about backing someone into a corner
38.gif
Fiery,

Good for your for standing up for yourself. I do not think you were rude at all and they need to give it a rest. I could not believe it the first time I read your MIL wanted to be in the delivery room. The idea is just unfathomable to me (no offense to anyone who may have their MIL in the delivery room, if you want her there, that''s great, but I would think she would wait to be asked since it''s certainly not a standard practice.) There is no way in hell my MIL will be allowed in the delivery room and I absolutely love her. I think you have handled it very well. I hope they do not bring it up again.

Fiery, seriously?? That would seriously just piss me off! Go you for sticking up for yourself, and SHAME ON THEM for waiting for FI to be gone! Ugh!

If it''s any consolation, for our wedding, my MIL and SIL went shopping without me, and picked two dresses that were the same color as each other, although not one of our colors! When asked why they chose that color they said, "We liked it better than yours and think it''ll look better." Despite that, they''re not too bad, just OVERSTEPPING boundaries!

Checking in to see if Baby Blen is here

Fiery--
Sorry to hear about your MIL''s persistence in being in the delivery room.
Can you and hubby just go deliver w/o telling anyone?

Fiery, goodness gracious enough is enough with your MIL!! I would even tell her "Look, I was contemplating having you in the room, but since you''ve been so damn PUSHY, I''ve changed my mind! Wouldn''t want you being pushy when it comes to my delivery!" That''s my 36 week hormones talking though. The further you get along in this pregnancy, the meaner you''ll get so she better back off now!!

Thanks ladies. I really did think maybe I was being irrational because everyone seems to be on board with her being there. Even my mom says that she's just excited and I should be lucky that she wants to be there. Ok, I'm thrilled she's excited but that's a little too much for my taste. I'm kind of glad she was pushing it (we went to breakfast with them that morning a few hours before the party and she mentioned it there too) because that way FI sees that I'm not just making it up.

Hopefully that'll be the end of that.

lili-We're going to try. My mom will be there around the due date since she lives 4 hours away and she won't have a car so I'm thinking we'll either tell her to go with us when we check in or just let her drive our car after we deliver. She's pretty laid back and I know she won't be offended if we told her that.

fiery, your MIL is being ridiculous. I bet most/all of her other grandchildren were her own daughters, not DILs. It''s different to have your own mother, from whose womb you yourself once sprang, be with you for the big moment than the mother of your husband. But either way, most people only have their husbands.

It''s too bad that she didn''t get the hint when you made up the rule about the number of people allowed. She seems to be fixating on that. You might eventually need to tell her no directly so she''ll stop trying to figure out if she''s "allowed." Something like, "When I said only one person was allowed, I was trying to spare your feelings. The truth is that I am just not comfortable with more than DH in the room with me. I''m positive that''s not going to change." And then if she won''t drop it, just be sure not to call her until after the delivery.

There is NO WAY I would EVER allow my MIL in the delivery room!

Holy CRAP Fiery! That is unbelievable!!!
Good for you for saying that, but I cannot believe they are still pushing. Do not feel badly about your decision. MY GOODNESS.

Once the baby is born, and she can hold it and monopolize the baby's time, she'll forget all about this little 'issue'. I would hope.

Hate to say this, but she sounds like a bit of a piece of work; getting her neighbors involved!!!

I would never, in a million years, have my MIL in the room with me. I don't even want my own mother present.

I rarely leave home without heels too...but being pg has me in flats more often these days.

Fiery, booo to your MIL! How annoying. Hopefully she gets it now.

I keep checking back hoping for a Blen update!

That''s kind of why my mom tells me that I need to relax because she doesn''t have any daughters and this is the first grandbaby. And I understand that I do. I love my MIL very much. Its just that this is not one of those bonding moments to share with everyone.

And her neighbor...yeah I wanted to throw my shoe at her

Thanks neatfreak and fiery!

I''ll leave it at 8 weeks then - that''s just in a few more weeks anyway.

fiery, your MIL sounds really aggressive! Why does she keep pushing this on you? Imagine your own mother is respecting your wishes, but your MIL wants to recruit the whole other side of the family to view the birth...! I''m glad you stuck to your guns. It sounds like you really want it to be an intimate moment and your MIL should respect that.

*** Hey November ***

My spidey sense tells me you work in the Pharma world? Without disclosing too much...am I right?

I work in Pharma Marketing

. We do brand building and consulting. I am a graphic designer though, not a marketer myself

Sorry to threadjack!

Mela,

You are close - I''m a lawyer currently working for a financial services company, but I majored in bioethics, have a joint JD - Masters in Public Health and spent a few years representing pharma companies. I would love to go back and work for a pharma company one day and I still have a lot of interest in the industry.

Nice!! We have such a wealth of diverse people on this forum. Another reason I love it so much!

Okay. One more BabyName question that I need my girls help with.

INITIALS.

Please give me your bias, inappropriate and honest opinion. Is there anything "wrong" with these initials:

LVG

Thanks.

I don''t see anything wrong with those initials. I tried to think of anything that it maybe resembles and the only thing I can think of is Loving.

CARSEAT question: Does anyone have or register for the Maxi Cosi? And if yes, did you find any sort of snap-n-go that it is compatible with? I like this carseat the best, but it doesn''t fit the Graco or Babytrend snap-n-go, which makes it kind of useless to me. Boo. Why are these things so ugly???????? I just want a neutral car seat! Will ask the mommies too, but thought I''d throw it out here.

Happy Monday, and happy almost-birthday to Baby Blen!
I have the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix - it''s by far the most popular make in the UK though. We have an Isofix system in the car, so we also got the Easyfix base that the carseat just clicks into.

Here it is compatible with Bugaboo, Quinny and Stokke - and probably most of the other big makes. Maxi Cosi also have their own stroller system that is travel system as well.

We went with the Stokke Xplory and you definitely use it as a snap-n-go on that. It was way easier to attach/detach than it was with the Bugaboo.

I don''t know if there is a difference in how things are manufactured between the UK/USA, but the Maxi Cosi is definitely the carseat that is most compatible with different systems than any other make.

mela, I don''t see anything wrong with the initials.

I wonder how Blenheim''s doing. We''re thinking about you and the little one, lady!

What about if I spell it phonetically?

Elle Vee Gee.

What about now?

I''m not *looking* to pull apart this name, but with a name like Luna, I just want to eliminate YET ANOTHER possibility for a teasing.

Am I crazy? Is "El Vee Gee" safe?

Hi guys,
Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Just a quick question - when did you guys go in for your first doctor appt. after realizing you were pregnant? And what was done at this appt.?

I scheduled an appt. for 8 weeks - but am wondering if I need to be in earlier. I don''t really bothered about having betas done or anything like that. Just wondering if there''s anything else that should be done in an early appt. that I''m missing. Is 8 weeks the norm for a first appt.?

Thanks!
I got an early one at 9 weeks because my GP knew I''d be classed as high risk and wanted me to be seen asap (he referred me at 5 weeks).

When I saw the GP he just said he didn''t believe I''d done it so fast (we''d been betting on how long it would take so it was quite a funny appointment - he''d reckoned 9 months, I''d said 2 with kick-off from our wedding date...) and then filled in the referral form for the hospital, told me he''d made his wife take 5 tests with their first as he didn''t believe it was true, said congratulations and see you in 6 weeks. So, no tests or anything of that nature.

I ended up seeing having a U/S at nearly 8 weeks at the early pregnancy unit because of bleeding though.

At mine all they did was take a family history of both DH and me, take blood, do BP and urine tests and do referral forms for specialists (only because I was high-risk not because it is standard). They they gave me the early pregnancy pack with booklets and free samples and sent me off to book the 12 week NT scan.

That was that, but then they are very hands-off over here (the first time you get an internal exam is when you arrive at the birth centre telling them you''re in labour) and we''re only advised to take folic acids not prenatals or any other vitamins unless there is a medical need.

You often can''t get a hb on a doppler before 10-12 weeks, so they don''t risk doing it as it just freaks out the parents. Here they do them after 16 weeks.

Fiery - I can''t believe your MIL. You are so much calmer than I would be! I''ve banned anyone from coming near us for 48 hours - then they can come to the hospital, but once DH is on leave we want 2 weeks to ourselves thanks very much!

I would have an attack of preggo hormones and make DH go and read the riot act at this point. Might also be an idea to stop taking her to your appointments.

Maxi Cosi is very new here and doesn''t fit into much as far as strollers go besides the ones you''ve listed and a few other European type strollers.

Graco is the popular one here.
