DH and I had our first childbirth class last night and it was kind of fun! We didn''t know what to expect, but we''re in a class with five other couples around our age (mid-twenties). We''re taking ours over a six-week course, once a week. We''ve actually got a May couple in class who won''t be able to finish- they''re hoping they get to attend even half of the courses before she delivers.

Ebree - THAT GIRL IS ME! haha. I''m due in four weeks and just started my prenatal classes. D''OH!
25.gif

Congrats on 29 weeks. You''re almost at that nice round 30 mark. Yippee Skippee!!!

Pandora - You''re just sailing to the finish line! Great update on, well, EVERYTHING!

Baby (weight, position, descent etc), Hospital Care, and everything else. I''m so happy for you that you can finally just enjoy the last weeks of pregnancy and know that you are in the most capable hands. Can''t wait to meet Daisy!

Ah, my rib pain started in the back and the front at the same time - like a burning pain just under your boob, and only on one side. After about 8 weeks it moved to just being in the back and turned from rib flare into the costovertebral inflammation. If you google 'rib flare' you'll get quite a lot of info on it. One movement that does help is to raise the arm on the side that hurts and bring it over your head and bend towards the side that doesn't hurt - it opens the space up and should help a bit (only sadly one can't walk around with your arm above your head all the time)...

This sounds almost exactly like the pain I've been having, and I've been raising my right arm for relief after discovering it helps. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with it too. I guess I've got little choice but to stick it out, eh? Is the bandage solution something I can put together myself? Thank you for the info!

mela- Thank you! Re: Classes, I'm sure your teacher can give you some extra information toward the end so you don't really miss anything. You'd be just fine if you did, though!
1.gif

Pandora - ok, that makes sense! I was just picturing a full-term preggo woman having to cart around a large suitcase with her wherever she went (to the grocery store, on public transportation, ...
3.gif
), just in case, which seemed like a major hassle! And I can definitely understand wanting your tax dollars to go towards vital care and not diapers, baby shirts, etc - I''d probably feel the same way.

Ebree, I thought those were SO itchy. I loved the fabric ones so much better. Everyone is different though.

Thanks everyone.

The night was a little crazy...ok A LOT!...we had trouble with jackie..she didn''t want to sleep in the bassinett...only in your arms. I just didn''t know what to do..esp since im not able to get up and tend to them...dh was getting very tired and frustrated...my sis came at midnight and took over with jackie..and basically slept in the living room with her all nite..she says since she''s a preemie she needs more tlc and attention and that''s fine. I think dh just had a swaddling problem and wasn''t doing it too well. At 7am our moms came and took them so we slept in the morning and they are still here so I can rest and dh isn''t overwhelmed.

Wow is it tough with 2!!! Don''t mean to scare twin moms to be lol but its no joke.

I keep thinking what I will do when my mom and dh go bak to work!

. How long is your mom staying with you?

My plan is to have my mom come for a month and I'm asking my step mom to come for 2 weeks after my mom leaves...and my sister to come for a week right after that. LOL...DH may end up moving to his mom's house!!! haha. I know once the babies are here and he sses how hard it is, he too will be grateful for the help!.

CONGRATS ON 12 WEEKS MANDARINE!!!!!!!!!!!

NYC-I''m glad you have family around to help you. My cousin had a preemie as well and I remember her saying how hard the nights were when all she wanted was to be held. Things will get easier.

Mandarine-Congrats on 12 weeks!

I don''t know why it feels like everyone else is flying through and yet time feels like it just stopped for me haha

Fiery, you took, the words right out of my mouth. Time has stopped!!

Congrats on 12 weeks, Mandarine. A great milestone.

NYC, I''m glad you have all that help!

Just got a fabulous hot stone pedicure and I''m home relaxing. I''m loving working these half days.

Congrats on 12 weeks Mandarine!!!
36.gif

Mandarine, how on earth did you get to 12 weeks already?? Congratulations!

Awe, NYC, I''m guessing the first night is probably the absolute hardest anyway. So glad you have family around to help you!

Mandarine, congrats on 12 weeks!

Fiery and Courtney, I know what you''re talking about (can''t wait to be officially in 3rd tri!) but you are 2 that are so much ahead of me so you are ones that I feel are flying! Courtney, it could really be any day for you! Glad you are enjoying the half days.

Feb., when I saw a post for you, I totally thought I was going to see you officially joining this thread...now I have to head back over to ttc to see if you updated there!

It felt good to get back to school today, and it was funny to see that even though my kids were all good, the sub yesterday basically sat at my desk and read and the kids were upset because they had actually wanted help with the work they were supposed to do...

We also go our first "official" shower gift today! I say "official" because I''ve also gotten one from Robbie that she shipped so that I wouldn''t have to cart it home, but I wasn''t supposed to open it yet. But today we got a carrier from my mom''s best friend who lives in Ca. who I don''t think we even sent an invite to since she obviously isn''t coming! Yay!

Oh dear, I am sorry. I''m afraid neither my pain consultant nor the physios could come up with anything much - they did suggest acupuncture which I tried and didn''t find worked (I use it a lot for my lower back with good results). Heat and ice help a bit.

I don''t know if you have ''tubi-grip'' in the USA? It''s like a long length of elasticated tubular bandage - they normally come in small sizes for wrist sprains or knee injuries. Anyway, this is about a metre of body-sized tube that you pull on and then double over.

The theory is that it pulls your ribcage in a bit (more towards the normal) and stops it shifting about so much and thus irritating the joint where the rib attaches to your vertebrae. This reduction in movement also stops the surrounding tissues getting so inflamed and can break the pain - inflammation - more pain - more inflammation cycle.

You should be able to get one from a chemists shop, or on-line or from your doctor. I didn''t have to be specially measured or anything. They use them a lot for SPD in pregnancy, and also following abdominal surgery etc

It feels pretty tight at the beginning - Daisy was a little unsure about it and spent a good hour seeing how far her knees and feet could push it, but doesn''t seem bothered anymore - and it can feel a bit hot so you might not want to wear it all the time - but it has made a massive difference to my pain levels and has meant I can cut the additional painkillers right down. I just wish I''d thought about it weeks ago.
15.gif

They PROMISE that it goes pretty fast after the baby is born - and some people seem to only have it for a few weeks - but it is seriously NASTY as pain goes.

Thank you guys!!!

It''s funny it seems like it went by fast to you guys but for me it went veeeeery slowwwwly
4.gif

But here I am and today I''ve been so extremelly happy all day!
9.gif
. I told my boss and he was absolutely wonderful!...I love him, he''s by far the best boss I''ve ever had!!!. I also came out of the baby closet to more extended friends and it feels good to let it out!. Not sure why but it makes it more real, I guess.

Fiery That''s so sweet she loved Mr Fiery!!! awww

Lindsey, the ring sounds perfect and I think it''s such a sweet idea from DH.
Pandora Sounds like lots of progress! that''s great news!
Courtney The pedicure sounds sooo good! I could use a pedicure!
Sabine congrats on the first "official" gift!!! that''s a great gift!!

Festy and Feb Thank you guys for jumping on over here to congratulate me!! You''re so sweet!
9.gif
Can''t wait for you to come on over!

Ebree-Sorry about your rib pain
15.gif

Sabine-Yay for getting gifts!!

Court-You have wayyy more authority to say that than I do. AAALLIILLAA we''re waiting for you!!!!!!!!

Aww Mand I''m glad you''re feeling wonderful today making it out of 1st tri. When is your next Drs. appointment?

So our trip to Vegas is booked. Our flights completely suck. I have a stop the night I leave because I couldn''t find a direct flight. I''m leaving on a Friday and Mr. Fiery is meeting me out on Tuesday. He gets in really late. Our flight home is direct but we won''t be sitting next to each other. But my job did confirm that I was able to get into Paris (it was that or Planet Hollywood) so I''m excited. I''ve never been. Mr. Fiery is already looking into things that we can do while there. I think he''s more excited than I am lol. He did mention that since he totally screwed up our 7 year anniversary, he was going to treat me to see O. I laughed at this since we share an account but he said he would use his not-so-secret other account to pay for it

Most the time nice people will trade with you so you can sit together, Fiery.

Have a fun trip! (How far along will you be when you go?)

Hi Fishie

I''ll be 30 weeks while in Vegas.

Hi guys!

Mandarine- wow, I can''t believe you''re 12 weeks! I''m 16 weeks today, so you''re exactly 4 wks behind me! How early are twins usually? Maybe we''ll go around the same time!

EBree- sounds like the rib pain really sucks. Hope you and your doc can figure something out...
emsad.gif

Fiery- I''m sure someone will switch seats with you. When do you leave? I hope you guys have fun!

Sabine- how fun to start getting gifts! Yay! Sweet of your mom''s friend.

Courtney- hhhheeeeeeyyyyyy, Allllliiiiiiiillllllaaaaa, we''re waiting for you!!!!!!!

Well, 16 weeks today and i finally came out of the closet at work. Ooof, feels good to have that weight lifted! My boss said she guessed a long time ago- I only see her about 1-2 times/month, but she said she knew because I had switched to decaf tea and didn''t join her in our regular glass of Riesling at dinner
emembarrassed.gif
- busted! Ah well, at least it''s out there now.

Morning girls! I''ve decided to kick off bpf because I''ve learned that if I don''t do it before work, it''s not getting done.

Nothing else new here except that I''ve already had a fun morning...threw up in the shower for the first time since about 18 weeks. I think it was just a reflex from my nose being so stuffed up and making me cough though, but it really reminded me how much I HATE throwing up. Hope those of you with m/s find relief soon!

Sabine Look at that belly! You are totally showing and looking preggo now woman! What a change since last time I saw a picture of you... You look awesome!

Sabine!

Awesome picture. You and your baby boy look *very* adorable!! Thanks for kicking off preggo belly pic Friday. I love it!!

Glad you were able to get back to work. Subs... oh the joys!!

Alrighty! BELLY PIC FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

I really don''t see a big change this week. I *feel* the baby is heavier / lower on my bladder, but I don''t feel like I''ve grown in size. As for my arms. Sheesh. I never know what to do with them?! I just asked myself, "what would Madonna do?" - and here you have it:

Mela 36 weeks today

We finally met with our doula last night and signed the contract! DH and I both really like her. I''m so excited for labor and delivery! I''m still pretty scared about what to do with the baby once it''s here though. Is that weird? LOL.

Tonight one of my friends has a party bus for her birthday. I figured I should go and have one last night of staying out till all hours of the night/morning because when the heck can I do that after this baby comes, but I''m starting to get worried that I''ll be falling asleep while we''re out. I haven''t made it past 11 any day this week. I think I might be calling DH to come get me before the bus is ready to take all of the drunkards home.

Anyway, TGIF! Here''s my bpf pic:

And a touch of full frontal: I''m not carrying wide at all. It''s very pointy in fact.

HI ROBBIE!!!!!! Looking good (as usual!)

. I''m the same - more worried about the "after" than the labour and delivery.
Ps. I was in bed last night at 8:30!

Good luck with this bus thing! lol.

Cute bellies Sabine and Mela!

Mandarine, how the heck did you get to 12 weeks already?!

Forgot to put on my picture post that I''m 30 weeks tomorrow.

Sabine, Robbie, and Mela- You guys look fantastic! I want a belly! Sure never thought I'd say that! I still don't have anything to take a pic of. I can tell I'm puffed out and harder below my belly button and everything above it is bloated (I guess from my organs being pushed up?) but I still just look fat at this point. Ah well, maybe in a couple more weeks. You guys really look awesome and I'm so excited for all of you!

ETA: I love Belly Pic Friday!!!

LOL Mela @ WWMD. Vogue. You look so adorable. You''ll soon really notice a drop in about 2 weeks!

Sabine, I can really see that belly now! Looking great! Sorry about your getting sick in the shower.

Robbie, looking cute of course. I''m glad you like your doula.

Here''s hopefully my LAST belly pic. I look so tired and puffy in the face!
