Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Yay Pandora! I hope you have a wonderful, easy labor and birth and I can''t wait to meet Daisy.

whoops double post!

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Quick check-in - have been at the hospital for last 2 hours waiting to see midwives.

Contractions started about 2hrs ago and went straight to every 3 minutes - they''re lasting about 15-20 seconds and starting to get a bit uncomfortable now, but I was really suprised that they have been ready steady time-wise, and they''re not stopping and starting at all. I thought they started more spaced out and got stronger as the tiimings got closer together. World of suprises this pregnancy lark...

Have swiped DH''s laptop to post this - not sure when next update will be...however looks like he may be going home to get my bags if this keeps going.

No idea how dilated or otherwise I am - I think they wait till you''re writhing around on the floor before they see you! Maybe I''ll be one of these lucky people who just suddenly says oh gosh, baby is here and two pushes later - ta dah! LOL

Till later...

Pandora
39 weeks and 3 days...

Good luck, Pandora!!

Pandora- Ooooooohhhhhh I am so excited for you!!!! Best wishes for a safe, quick, and as-pleasant-as-possible delivery!!! Can''t wait to see your beautiful girl!!!!

Mela- Happy Birthday (one day late)! Couldn''t log on yesterday, but was thinking about you! Sending lots of labor vibes your way. Glad to hear you are feeling so great physically!

Mandarine- OMG! TWO BOYS!!!!! How fantastic! Love your comment about remaining the queen of the house! As for names, I LOOOOOOOVE Santiago (I have an uncle with that name who goes by Santi or Chico), my dad is Alejandro so I am partial to that one too (and brother is Alexander, if we have a boy we intend for his middle name to be Alexander). I am SO jealous of your latin names! I would love to use one, but DH is German and we both just think a Latin first name with hie VERY German last name just doesn''t flow. I also think Mateo is adorable.

As for us, big ultrasound is at 3:30 today! I am so excited/nervous/anxious! We can''t decide if we want to be told right then and there, or have it put in an envelope to open later. My bday is May 27th and we are going on vacation, so DH thinks it would be fun to wait, but I don''t know if I can! I''d like to find out in the room so the tech can show us the ''bits'', but I''m a little afraid of my reaction to what she says (even though I know we are blessed and will be very happy/grateful either way). And opening the envelope together later just seems more ''special'', but then again, haow much more special can the moment you are told if your baby is a boy or girl get, anyway, right? Aaaahhhh....over-ananlyzing again! Focus on the main thing, that all systems/parts look healthy and good, right? Ugh- I am too stressed about today! Well, wish us luck, and if we DO find out today, I will certainly be back to update you all! Then on to the name game, I suppose!!!!!

yay Pandora!! Can''t wait to meet your little gal!

Good Luck Pandora...the fun is about to begin!!!

And yea, we really do have high incidences of the not usual here on PS!

Good luck Pandora! Can''t WAIT to meet Daisy. How exciting!

Natalina- If I haven''t already missed you, I recommend the envelope thing. DH and I did this and it just was so cool to have this moment with the two of us. I just always feel so unemotional and surreal in the dr''s office, not sure why. And our tech printed out the u/s picture and drew a very obvious arrow to his "bits" so it''s the cutest (or most embarrassing) picture ever. Just my 2 cents, but it''s so amazing either way. Good luck, can''t wait to hear what you''re having!!!

Go, Pandora, go!! I can''t wait to see Daisy! Don''t be scared...it''s going to be wonderful.

Go Pandora! Can''t wait to meet Miss Daisy!

I''m missing the belly pics today!?

Me again...

Well, I had the option of staying there or coming home - so I chose home for now. Definitely in early labour, water''s definitely gone (trust me, there was no doubt about that one!) - and still going...
14.gif
, head fully engaged, however when they checked at 5pm (after 3 hours of steady ctx) I wasn''t dilated at all...
15.gif

So, I''ve been told to come back when the pain gets too bad, and/or I get to the stage of painful contractions of about 60 seconds every 3 minutes. I''m also booked for an induction at 8pm tomorrow evening if I''m not in active labour by then...

Was told to go and have plenty to eat just in case I don''t get another chance - so DH and I stopped for dinner en route - interesting experience, and luckily I''d chosen a place that was big enough that I could hide in a corner and grit my teeth without anyone really noticing!

They''ve offered me codeine so far for pain relief - or rather they offered me my own codeine so they didn''t have to use theirs
29.gif
- it doesn''t seem to be helping at all though... I already know for definite that I am not going to be able to do this without an epidural.

At the moment I''ve got 45 second contractions and they seem to be in pairs: one, then another 2 minutes later and then the next after 3-4 minutes, then back to 2 again, of the ''bad food poisoning'' level - it''s getting very hard to talk or type through them now. Daisy seems happy as anything though and kindly gives me an advance warning of each ctx by kicking me.

I''m going off for a nice bath in a while and then might see if I can get some sleep as I have a feeling I might be awake a lot of the night!

ETA: I have to tell you all this one - a DH classic... when the midwife wanted to do an internal to check dilation, she asked me to take my clothes off and then disappeared. So, DH had to help me get my trousers off as I didn''t dare take my shoes off since my feet have swollen too much to get them back on again.

Anyway, he then says: "Go on then, lets have a look at how dilated you are while we are waiting for her to come back."

Pandora looks a bit confused and then realises that he thinks that the OUTSIDE dilates rather than it being the cervix. I nearly died laughing - and then thought IF ONLY!!!!

Good luck Pandora! Hope you have a fast and smooth L&D!

Best of luck Pandora!! Hoping your L&D goes smoothly!!!

Good Luck Pandora!!

Natalina--I''m thinking Blue.

I just got back from a quick doctor''s appointment. Heartbeat was in the 160''s. And she found the heartbeat quickly but said that the baby was moving around a lot. So cute!

I go in for the Down''s screening in two weeks---what all does that involve?

Pandora- That''s HYSTERICAL about DH. LMAO!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Ignore my question about the down''s screening--I read that it''s a blood test...

Hey ladies!

NAME HELP PLEASE - Okay...Dh and I are utterly confuzzled. I am currently in LOVE with the name Caden. DH doesn''t love it, mainly because he''s foreign and the name doesn''t really transfer to his native language very well - he''s worried about his family being able to say it...which is silly, BUT I need your HONEST thoughts on it. Do you like it? It sounds great with our last name, but DH and I generally love the more classic names...the other contender right now is Abraham, with Brahm as the nickname. I don''t know if Caden is too trendy. I would hate if it became this year''s Madison (or even worse, Madisyn) so yeah...HELP LADIES!
I just wanted to say that I can relate to your DH. Even though my family speaks English (a lot of them better than I do and I was born here), I tried to give my children names that were able to be pronounced smoothly in French/Creole. With this last one, DH wants to name him Logan but it doesn''t flow in French so it bothers me a bit. I just haven''t been motivated enough to look through baby name books or argue with DH about a name we can agree on.

How do you feel about nicknames? Maybe your in-laws can come up with nickname they can pronounce or a middle name they can pronounce?

Pandora: Best wishes for a safe labour. I''m sorry you are scared, BIG hugs. Your body knows what to do - even if your DH doesn''t

Fried pickles? Do you guys live in the states? I''ve never heard of this? Where do you get this? I love pickles and am curious to try one.

cdt...sorry about the pain you are going through. Confession: I don''t like doctors; I''ve had bad experiences with many doctors because the ones I usually come across try to discount your feelings or downplay your symptoms. I am so sorry honey hope you feel better soon. You''re almost there....hold on!

OMG Pandora!!!!! I can''t wait. My doc says to call as soon as water breaks so that the baby can be delivered within 24 hours....what''s this about 48 hours? OMG..this is exciting! Have smooth and speedy delivery....if you see this before you have the baby! LMAO A DH''s dilation comment!

PANDORA-thinking of ya and precious Daisy

GOOD LUCK PANDORA!!!! SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!!

Dani - Sorry to hear about all of your pain! I really hope you can find a way to manage it. I know my pain is most likely temporary and I keep trying to tell myself that. But after 5 weeks and 5 more to go, I feel like I"m losing my mind a bit. I definitely have a respect for suffers of chronic pain after this experience, it just makes everything so miserable. And you''re probably right that I could use some mental therapy as well at this point, since I just feel so down. Thanks for the sympathy, I really appreciate it.

Fabienne - yeah, I''ve never hated doctors so much as I do now. And I''m finally starting to realize how much you really do have to be your own advocate. I''m just not the pushy type, but looks like I''m going to have to be I guess.
