Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Mela thanks for posting your birth story! It''s so interesting to read all of the different experiences. I''m so glad Romeo turned out just fine, and is he not the cutest baby? He''s friggin adorable! Congratulations!

mela: wat a story!! u go mama!!! and romeo is just adorable =) and look at u straight after giving birth! glowing and all! i looked like a sack of potatoes..not pretty!

mela, that is quite a story! I think your point about it not being the type of birth you wanted or imagined but it doesn''t matter anyway, is a good lesson for everyone. The important thing is that your Romeo is here and you are both healthy and happy, regardless of how he came out of you. He''s gorgeous. Congratulations again!

cdt, congratulations to you too! Lex is adorable!!!

Good Morning ladies
35.gif

I keep saying how badly I need internet at home so that I can catch up during the weekend
3.gif
. I think its time the Fierys entered into the future (we don't even have cable
32.gif
).

Mela-Romeo is gorgeous! What a beautiful birth story seriously. I teared up reading it. Lots of hugs and besitos!

Sunkist-You look adorable!

Natalina-Sorry to hear you are feeling so sick
7.gif
. I got really sick during the early part of my 2nd trimester and the only thing that helped me was time. I drank a lot of OJ and honey w/ lemon. Hope you feel better soon!

Puffy-I don't remember if I said congratulations but congratulations
36.gif

China-Yay for a belly pic! You look great!!

Sabine-Glad you got to your new apartment safely!

So Cal Girl-Great belly pic!

Morning ladies- morning Fiery!

Fiery- No cable? I wish I was one of those who didn''t need to watch tv a lot, but I''m not. Can''t live without it!! Do you watch Lost on DVD then?

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Sabine- I am feeling your pain right now. DH and I have been packing/moving all weekend and I am so achy I feel like I spent all weekend hiking up a mountain or something. Man, my butt and back ache! Luckily, DH has done most of it, but still. I need a massage and a spa day. You too!

Ebree- Are you out there, doing ok? Feel like we haven''t heard much from you lately.

Lysser- Ditto. Thinking of you. How are you feeling?

NYCSparkle- Still with us?

Today is our official moving day and while I am really excited for our new house, I am a bit sad too. Just feels "big" and I am really aware of how much our life is about to change. It was just the two of us in this small townhouse and I am going to miss our quiet times. I know we are ready (and ready or not, the little bug is coming!), but it''s hard not to mourn our "just the two of us" time, you know?

That being said, I am so excited, much bigger house, fantastic neighborhood, etc. And now I can finally do something with the nursery!

Oh, and on names- I had a dream with the perfect name for our little guy. And of course I don''t remember it!!! All I remember is that it was 3 names, and 2 of the names together sounded like the name of someone famous or historical. It''s driving me crazy trying to remember! Too funny.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

xoxo

Mela, holy cr@p! Thank you for taking the time to share your story and those gorgeous pictures of your little man with us. He is an angel!

Wow Mela!!! that''s quite the story for sure! You''re a champ. I love what you say about it though...it''s the end result that matters...and one look a little Romy and everything else doesn''t matter!.

9.gif

China I hate it when that happens!....hopefully you''ll remember at some point!. Congrats on the big move!!!
36.gif
...oh, and your belly looks GREAT!!!!

Sunkist what a cute bump!!!!!!!
36.gif

SoCal you also have a great looking bump!!!

***

Happy Monday ladies!! Today is our big U/S...I''m so excited to see our little guys again and make sure everything is good!. How long does that scan typically take (I guess it would just be double the time).

Oh and the burning I have been having...I think it may actually be heartburn, but it''s like no heartburn I have EVER had (or maybe I never REALLY had heartburn)....I think that may be it because it''s typically after eating (just realized this after paying closer attention to when I was feeling the pain). Is it ok to take things like TUMS???..any advice? I want to try it next time I get it to see if it helps...

Mandarine-Tums is fine. I''ve had really bad heartburn and I always carry Tums with me. I know others have tried stronger medication but I haven''t had to.

China-Yuppers we watched LOST on DVD. We have the regular channels. The thing is that for the past 3 years that we have been there, I always said that if we miss cable we''ll get it. It''s been 3 years and we haven''t missed it. When we visit someplace with cable, we usually spend our time flipping through the channels but never really said we wished we had cable so we can see whatever show regularly.

Mela--you are a super-trooper! Romy is lucky to have an awesome mom like you!
He is one handsome guy, enjoy every minute.

Good morning, ladies!

First, mela- WOW. What a birth story. You are absolutely amazing to have endured that as you did. Romeo is such a handsome little guy, and I'm so happy he's in your arms and feeding well.

Sabine- Yay for making it to your new place!

Sunkist- That's definitely a bump! And an adorable one, at that.
1.gif

China- Good luck with the move today (and the rest of the week)! Have you settled on any specific theme or nursery plan? It's exciting to have a blank canvas.

Mandarine- Let us know how your big US goes! Getting any closer to choosing names for those little guys?

Not too much excitement here. We finished covering all of the canvas in fabric, and this week, we hang them!

Can I whine a bit about swelling? When I overdo it (as I did this weekend, walking around for, oh, two or three hours?), my feet/ankles/calves pay the price. My husband was massaging them (as gently as he could, since they feel bruised) and at one point, he left a dent in my ankle the exact size and shape of his finger, maybe half of an inch DEEP. It was so gross. He said that they feel like stress balls.
40.gif
I try to keep a sense of humor about it, but EWW.

Somewhat random Monday question: Future moms who plan to (try to) "babywear"- what carriers are you considering? DD, if you're lurking, how do you like your Sleepywrap? I've seen two in action in the last couple of weeks and the babies looked SO comfortable! I'm definitely ordering a Moby (Sleepywrap's cousin) and I'm thinking about a Hotsling too.

Argh - long post eaten! GAH! I have to run, but moral of the story - I''m doing well, Kiddeo is doing well. I''ll write a real post tonight, I PROMISE!

But super quick drive by again...

Mela Romeo is absolutely beautiful! I''m sorry your birth experience wasn''t what you''d hoped, but you definitely have the right attitude about it! You''ve got your adorable baby boy and that is the only part that really matters!

CDT - Congrats! Lex is gorgeous! And I''m so glad you are in less pain. That''s great!

Man, y''all make some beauuuuuuutiful babies around here!!!

Busy weekend! 2 more pages of posts! Thanks for the belly pic compliments everyone!

Congrats, am04! Welcome to the thread! If there''s anything that can reduce bloat, I never found it. Before I was pregnant, staying well hydrated always seemed to do the trick. Not so much post bfp though.

Ebree, that''s awesome that your pedi is a lactation consultant! We''ll be using the same pediatrician that I had as a kid and that I think my sister still goes to (she better find a new doc now that she''s 18 though!) My mom said they were really great about working with her on an alternative vaccination schedule for my sister and I always remember liking them.

Kaleigh, you''ve got a 50/50 shot either way, lol. Let me know if you want to make an official switch.

Mandarine, good for you standing up to your dad! Hopefully he''ll get the hint and this will be the end of it. Have fun at your big u/s! I''m not sure how long ours was, but I''d guess about 45 minutes. Sorry to hear about the heartburn. I think I''ve heard that tums are ok, but you might want to double check that.

Tao, hope your wedding day was perfect!

Speaking of weddings, Fiery, when''s your big day again? I think if you want to go epi free, it''s got to be something you''ve really set your mind to. Unless you''re one of the lucky few who has a pain-free birth, it''s going to hurt and if you haven''t taken classes and FI hasn''t taken classes it''ll be that much easier to just get the epi. Heck, I think I might have a hard time going med-free even with all of the prep we''ve done and how great of a coach DH has become. I definitely don''t think there''s anything wrong with choosing the epi or other meds if that''s what you want, I just think that if you haven''t made a firm decision one way or the other, you''re that much more likely to for the meds. Just something to think about. No cable?! I didn''t have cable until I went to college and I seriously can''t imagine not having it now.

Oooh, Phoenix, I really like Clare Elodie! Good suggestion, China!

Blen, I think I have a pretty good chance of avoiding Dr. biotch for delivery. There are 4 doctors in the practice that deliver and one weekend a month another group covers for them, so slightly less than 25% I guess. Worst case scenario I''ll just have to let DH and the doula deal with her. DH has gotten much better recently about standing up for himself/us so I do have confidence in him. It''s just so hard for me to just let go and let other people handle things that I''m used to doing.

Mela, LOVE the new pics!!! He''s soooo perfect! What a scary birth story! I think being able to feel things during a c-section is my worst nightmare.

So cal girl, cute bump!

Fisher, you never know, you could be right! After all, ebree voted boy, lol.

Sunkist, cute belly pic! You have a little bump starting! Crib was one of the few things I really wanted to get new. I think now I might consider it if it was a stationary crib (no drop side or flip down) and had all of the original pieces and instructions and it met current safety regs. I think that even things that look totally straightforward can be put together incorrectly without the directions and I''d worry that that would make it unsafe.

NYCsparkle, congrats on passing your strep test! I have mine on Wednesday.

Natalina, sorry you''re so sick! I can''t help out on the meds front. The only thing I''ve let myself take this pregnancy was tylenol once when my head felt like it might explode. I hope you''re feeling a bit better by now!

China, cute bump! Too funny about being unable to remember the dream name! I hope it comes to you soon and it''s as great IRL as it was in the dream.

Yay for your move being over! And yay for being unable to unpack your wedding gifts finally! I bet it''s like getting them all over again since it''s been almost a year. When we moved it hadn''t been that long and I''d already forgotten half of the things we had since we hadn''t opened them.

Amber, got any left over guac? Mmmm, guac...

As for me, I''m getting to be really tired and uncomfortable. Normally I''d just be uncomfy at the end of the day, but today I''ve been uncomfy since I woke up. I took naps on both Saturday and Sunday, but it really didn''t seem to help with the exhaustion. All I really did on Sunday was go grocery shopping and after that all I could do was lay around on the couch. I have so much that I still need to get done (pack hospital bag, put music on mp3 player for hospital, put up shelves in nursery, finish shower thank you cards, etc), but no motivation/energy to do it. I''ve been having a lot of contractions lately (painless tightening mixed with the uncomfortable crampy kind), but still nothing that would make me stop what I''m doing. I feel like I''m starving all the time. I really doubt I''m going to be one of those women whose weight gain just kind of plateaus at this point.

Robbie-It’s funny you mention that because we talked about it last night! We tentatively set December as the month to get married (what day, don’t know). January, the very latest. I figure that gives me 5 months of working hard to get my weight down. We’ve already planned on having a very small ceremony (11 guests) so the booking of the ceremony/reception I can do within a month or so. We could potentially do it before then but I really want pretty pictures and I know myself. If I’m not at a size I feel comfortable in, it’ll show in my photos
20.gif

But we''re definitely going with the Spanish Monastary where Mandy had her beautiful reception
30.gif

Mandarine, on my form it said to allow 1.5 hours for the whole appointment and 45 mins for the actual ultrasound. GOOD LUCK!!! I'm really nervous that at mine they will find some devastating anomaly even though everything has looked good up 'til now. On the upside, I've heard that the appointment is really cool. It's a super neat tour of your babies' anatomy. Let me know if you find out the positions of the placentas.

9.gif
I'm just curious where most twins implant. Are you also having a fetal echo? I know that's part of our appointment too.

Let us know how it goes!!

So our 2-year wedding anniversary is on Wed, and that evening we're going to a "Multiples" class at our hospital. So far 14 other couples are signed up, and the description of the class is as follows: "The class focuses on the special physical and emotional needs associated with a multiple pregnancy. Birth films of multiple deliveries will be shown. Plan to attend between weeks 14-24 of gestation."
It might be a waste of time, but hopefully I can meet at least one nice couple having multiples in my area and exchange info. I wonder if there will be any parents-to-be of triplets or quads there!

Fiery, that''s such a pretty location! 5 months sounds like a good amount of time, but I''m a first timer, so what do I know.

Peony, have fun at the multiples class! Have you looked into mothers of multiples groups in your area? I know my SIL joined one when she had my nieces (17 years ago) and she''s still friends with some of the other moms she met through it. They take a yearly mom trip without the kids.

Fiery, thanks for the suggsestion on TUMS! I'll double check with my peri today, but it should be ok!

OMG I'm so excited about your wedding!!! I didn't know you were doing it there...it's the BEST place down here (IMO) to have a wedding...and in December it's going to be PERFECT!!!. If you need anything...pictures, recommendations, tips, etc.... just let me know!
9.gif

Peony They put my appointment with the peri 20 mins after the u/s...there is just no way they'll do it in 30 minutes though. I guess it doesn't matter since it's all in the same place though. What's the difference between an ecgo and an ultrasound? I thought it was the same thing? (sorry for my ignorance!). Let me know how the class goes! I wish there was something like that down here!.

Robbie Enjoy eating, you look great and if you're hungry it's because that babe is hungry

. Thanks so much for the crib info!!! I'm super excited now!

Just wanted to pop-in really quick to say thank you to everyone who sent congrats and commented on how cute my Alex is! It was several pages ago (and over a week and a half!) that I posted and just lost track of getting back on to read anything!

CDT - Congrats on your Lex! I think we were due a few days apart, and then we both delivered early and both had Alexanders!

Mela - awesome birth story. I swear they all make me cry now. Romeo is very cute!

For anyone worried about getting an epi (I saw a few people mention that) - I don''t really even remember much about getting it (except I did say ''I''m supposed to sit still DURING a contraction?'' And the nurse assured me she would help, which she did). It was nowhere near as painful as the contractions, and I was just so ready! My original plan was to go as long as possible without the epi, use the tub, use the birthing ball, etc. But after laboring at home for about 3 hours with back labor and pretty painful contractions (I don''t remember having one I would describe as moderate), the first thing I said when we got to the hospital was ''I don''t know if this is too early to tell you, but I want the epidural.'' I didn''t actually get it for another two and a half hours or so, and the thought of getting massaged or getting in the water just wasn''t appealing at that point. I just breathed deeply into the contractions and wondered when I could get the epi! I''m happy with how everything turned out now - which is all you can really hope for in the end!

Good luck to everyone!

Mandarine and NYCsparkle, you guys are funny assuming I''m talking about healthy food. I''m still eating healthy stuff, but the extra stuff I should probably cut is more like oatmeal cream pies, popsicles, etc. I bought things to make a goody basket to bring for the L&D nurses. I made the basket and now we have a bunch of leftovers which are calling my name. Oh, I''ve also had a craving for gummy bears since Sabine''s shower, lol.

Mandarine, it''s a great crib! I hope you guys love it as much as we do! We get compliments on it whenever we show the nursery to someone. I think the only difference between an u/s and an echo is the focus. An echo is focused on the heart whereas an u/s is on something else. When I had an echo last summer (not the horrid one where my anesthesia didn''t work, just the regular one on my chest) it was just like getting an u/s, but on my chest. I even got print outs of my heart, lol.

Mandarine, a fetal echocardiogram is an ultrasound, but it really focuses on cardiac anatomy and is not usually done in singleton gestations unless there is a suspected problem. They probably do it for multiple pregnancies because heart defects are the most common birth defect and we have X number of babies multiplied by X number of potential problems. I probably shouldn''t think of it that way because that''s what''s stressing me out.
3.gif

You should take a look at your hospital''s prenatal class schedule because maybe they do have a multiples class! Mine even has a breastfeeding twins class, which is awesome but it''s only 2 hours long so I''m sure I''ll need other resources too.

Robbie, I emailed the Moms of Multiples group a while ago, but they never got back to me. I just tried again though, and someone wrote back! Yay! She asked me how old my twins are. I will write back and tell her that they''re negative five months, lol.

Ok, Peony I think you''ll remember this question!

I think I finally just realized why some people were saying pregnancy is 10 months. Is it because 40/4 is 10 and a month is approx. 4 weeks???

It just popped into my head and I''m still curious
3.gif

Hey Sunkist! Yep, I remember that discussion! However, 40 weeks times seven days divided by 30 days (average number of days in a month is actually 30.4 if you take into account leapyear every 4 years) is 9 and 1/3. Therefore, I still say it's closer to 9 months!
9.gif
The first two weeks are pre-gestation anyway!

Wow, I don''t think I''ve logged in in almost a week! Trying to get my new salon open while being incredibly nauseous and exhausted has kept my PS addiction at bay
15.gif

Mela- what a birth story that was! You are incredibly strong, I can''t believe you could feel the c-section. I swear I would have crumbled. Romeo is absolutely perfect!!

Am- welcome

Sabine- yay for the bigger kitchen! hope you guys settle into the new house nicely.

Robbie- I usually don''t vote cuz I''m so bad at these things, but I think I will be a sheep and guess boy.

BPF-

OMGosh... I know I have barely touched on what I''ve missed lately. I hereby vow to be a better PSer and stay up on my preggo friends more regularly, I promise.

Sabine, are you voting girl for Robbie in hopes that her little girl and your little boy will grow up and fall in love? I used to always wish that my best friend and I would have our kids at the same time, and then they''d grow up and fall in love.... haha. The stuff fairytales are made of, I suppose.

I''m gonna vote Girl for Robbie, too. My instinct thinks it is a boy, and since my instinct has been wrong every other time, I''m just going to say the opposite, and maybe I''ll be right for once!

Alright. Longer post here!

CC - Your belly pic is adorable! For reals! And you go with your natural child birth self! You got through law school and passed the bar - you can totally handle NBC! I have faiths in ya! I kind of took the other track...I was considering natural child birth BEFORE I got pregnant. Now that I am - YIKES - I don't even want to ponder it. I'm just a wimpus maximus when it comes to pain...Of course, all that having been said, a good friend of mine who was scared to death of natural child birth, and was even considering an elective c-section and at the least wanted many many drugs, didn't get to the hospital until she was 10 centimeters dilated and went all natural because she had not other choice. She found it to be really empowering and plans to go natural for her next baby as well! Oh, and I hope the move went well!

Sabine - Congrats on being in your new digs! Also, adorable belly pic! And yay for being done with school, FOREVER! Woot!

Robbie - I'm voting boy for you too! A bit late, but still! And I'm sorry about how things went with your doc. That stinks. Also, feh about the discomfort. BUT YOU ARE SO CLOSE!!

AM - I remember you! Congrats and welcome!!

Amber - Please send me some Guac, STAT!

SoCal & Sunkist - Cute belly pic!!

Sunkist - FWIW, I don't think I'd use an older crib. I know in one of the baby books I was reading they really recommended against using an older crib - as safety standards have changed so much in the past years.

Ebree - I'm a bit worried about finding a ped that is alright with a delayed vax schedule. We don't live in an uber progressive city, so I'm hoping I'll be able to find one! How did you find yours?

Natalina - Hope you are feeling better - colds suck, prego or not. But especially prego. One suggestion that I've found to be a life saver is a neti pot. I've been using it since about 10 weeks and I swear by it - it does wonders for mucked up sinuses and a stuffy nose!

Manderine - I think you really look great, regardless of what your dad said! And I hope your U/S went well today! Oh, and as far as I know, tums are a-ok, but I'd ask your doc, just to be sure!

NYCSparkle - Hope you are feeling good and the baby is coming sooooon!

Everyone else - HELLO! Hope all is well!

As for me...doing well. 27 and 1/2 weeks. Getting kicked pretty regularly. This here kid is going to be a soccer star OR the first male Rockette. Either way, he's got some moves. DH has been feeling him kick for the past couple weeks, and that is no small feat, given the uber thick layers of padding he's got to kick through!

Oh, and despite my deep love of the name Caden, it is off the table. My cousin's super trashy brother-in-law just named his kid Caden. And well, that is *exactly* the sort of person I don't want to name their kid Caden, if that makes sense. I'm sad. But I'll live. So we are back to drawing board.

Oh, and we picked out our baby bedding...I'll attach a pic -

hmm. that didn't work at all. let me try this again...

babybeddingfordebebe.gif

Hmm. okay.

Sorry about the HUGE blank area following my post.

We have not, in fact, bought white bedding!

This is the bedding for el kiddo -
