Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Cute bedding Lysser! I don''t think my hubby wants to use his old crib. He thinks it''s too unsafe without even looking at it. So we''ll probably be buying a new one!

NEED HELP!
9.gif
Has anyone seen a cute black dress that could work as a BRIDESMAID dress??? This is what the other Bridesmaids are wearing, in Black taffeta.
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WeddingParties/womens/w_bridesmaids/PRDOVR~99838/99838.jsp

My sister and I will both be the pregnant Bridesmaids
3.gif
and we''re not super keen on the maternity dress that was picked for us, so I''m looking for other options. It needs to have sleeves, not low cut, and knee length or below knee length.

Sunkist, what about this from JC Penney?

Lysser, good to see you!! Cute bedding, and I can''t wait to see what name you pick!

Sunkist, check out some of these dresses, especially the more formal ones at the bottom! I don''t see many with sleeves, but could you wear a wrap or a little jacket? http://www.apeainthepod.com/maternity/dresses.asp

Lysser,
Cute bedding, I love it!!!!! Glad you are doing well!!!

Thanks for the cute suggestions, LadyPirate and Peony! It''s hard to find places online with maternity clothes. I found a few other websites. Still looking though :) Most maternity dresses are jersey knit it seems, not much in a fancier type of material.

Lysser, cute bedding! I really like it!

Sunkist, good luck with the dress search!

Fisher, no, I hadn''t really thought of Robbie''s and my lo''s falling in love, especially since I don''t know if Robbie and I will ever live in the same area again (although I can certainly hope!). I picked girl because when we both first got pregnant, I was SURE I was having a girl and she was having a boy, but lo and behold, I''m having a boy, so I''m thinking my instinct was wrong for her too!

Good morning to everyone else too!

Has anyone else seen this story about the Intelligender test? I, of course, was tempted to buy the Intelligender test early on, but considering there is no medical explanation for how the test works, I convinced myself it''s a crock. However, it would have NEVER crossed my mind to use the test for gender selection. I was just surprised that this article made my CNN AmFix news stories and that it didn''t even DISCUSS the success rate other than saying that Intelligender "reports" 78-80% success.

Robbie- I''m experiencing contractions after I pee as well. Started about a week and a half ago. I also experience them in the middle of the night when I get back into bed (from visiting the bathroom).

Peony- Happy (early) anniversary, and I hope you have a good time at the multiples class!

littlelysser- Hey, lady! Good to hear from you. To be honest, we just got lucky with the ped.- when I called the practice, I asked which doc the receptionist recommended. She said, "Oh, they''re all good, but one is a lactation consultant." Well, that sealed the deal for me, and I found out later she was okay with alternative vax schedules. Do you live in a large city? One idea might be to search for ped. recommendations on more ''crunchy'' parenting websites, like mothering.com. Adorable bedding, by the way! That set was my husband''s and my favorite before we decided to go the mix and match route.

Sabine- One of the month boards before mine (April or May, maybe?) on FertilityFriend ran an Intelligender "trial" and the results were around 50 percent accurate, if I remember correctly. I think it''s just another scam, or something to do to help pass the time before the big US.

I had an interesting little trip to L&D last night. I had been experiencing consistent back pain all day, so I called my doctor''s office after hours and the doctor on call (we''ll call him Dr. P) wanted me to come in so he could have a look. We make the 45 minute drive to the hospital, I get hooked up to monitors and have urine and cervical checks by the nurse, only to find Dr. P went home before even getting a chance to hear of my progress (which was zero, but still). He was read my info over the phone, "wasn''t worried about anything" and sent me home an hour later.
41.gif
I guess it''s good motivation to get our hospital bags packed, though, which I''m doing today.

Hello!!

Lysser I love that bedding, very cute!!! On the names front, we''re also on the drawing table...this is so hard!
Ebree Glad to hear everything was ok...always better to be safe than sorry.
Sunkist I don''t have any suggestions, but how cute that you''re both pregnant at the same time and will be BMs!!!
9.gif

Sabine that''s interesting, sounds like a scan to me...but who knows nowadays!

***

Our big ultrasound yesterday went really well!!!. Both bebes cooperated and teh tech kept saying the entire time very positive things (I loved this tech!)...she called them "pumpkin" and was like "look at this beautiful heart, wow big brains...smart pumpkin, long legs, and look at his cute feet, 10 perfect little fingers, etc, etc"....she was just really sweet, The peri also came in and was also really sweet and positive. We mentioned something about making sure there were still two boys and she said "I see some huevos"...which I thought was hilarous...hehe.
face20.gif

So the "morochos" (what we call twins in Venezuela) are doing awesome!
36.gif
36.gif
They look great, very big and healthy!. They are sort of side by side, but Baby B is more to the top on my right side (above belly button). We''ve got two placentas and both of them are posterior.

M~

Wow Ebree, you''re getting close!!!!!!!! Do you feel ready to go into labor or do you still want a few more weeks?

Sabine, from my molecular genetics experience I think it would be extremely easy to determine sex as long as one had a sample of fetal cells (even ones contaminated with maternal cells would be okay, unlike an amnio or CVS), but I think the problem is getting a reliable sample. There should be a smallish amount of nucleated fetal cells in maternal blood, but it looks like that is a urine test that just looks at hormones. With a blood sample you could use PCR (polymerase chain reaction) amplification of a Y chromosome-specific sequence. Anyway, 20 weeks is plenty early for me, seeing as I wasn''t sure if I wanted to know the sexes at first (and such a test wouldn''t really be accurate with twins unless one was having two girls since it couldn''t say how many boys there are).
9.gif

Yay, I''m so glad that you updated us Mandarine and that they''re both doing well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That''s good that you got a nice tech, ours are usually grumpy. Thanks for asking about the placentas as well, I was curious about that.
9.gif

Mandarine-Glad to hear the boys are doing well. My little girl is going to have fun with two boyfriends...assuming they''ll be into "older" women

Robbie/Ebree-I haven''t felt any contractions
7.gif
. I haven''t even had BH. I felt a slight cramp that lasted maybe 2 seconds about two weeks ago and my doctor says that was a contraction but honestly, I think it was gas or something. I''m really, really curious to hear my progress on Monday.

Ebree-I''m glad everything was ok! I think at this point any signs of worry should be a straight visit to the DR. I''m packing my hopsital bag this weekend.

LL-I love your bedding!

Nothing new over here. Sort of not baby related: our water heater isn''t getting any power so we''ve been without hot water since Friday night
7.gif
. I couldn''t get an electrician to come out to our place until today so hopefully its just a blown fuse or something. I feel like I''m back in the Dominican Republic though when I''m taking showers. Before my grandmother had a working bathroom, we used to have to get huge buckets of water every morning from the river, heat it up, and take showers that way. But by the time I would be able to get a shower in, it would be freezing lol

Lysser and EBree, what delayed schedule are you going with? I was looking into this recently.

np Peony...I told DH to remind me to ask about te placentas! lol

Fiery lol...so your girl is a ''Cougar''??...haha...I kid, I kid. My boys would love to hang out with little Miss Fiery!!!!!!

Hi girls. I so want to respond to many posts, but I just can''t right now, so forgive my selfish and whinging post (yes, I totally stole that word from Pandora. I love it).

I am sooo tired I think I am going to lose it. I''ve been doing so well with all that has been going on, but today I just feel overwhelmed and like it''s all catching up to me. Work is so busy and I keep getting more piled on my desk. I just want to say " I CAN''T do anymore", but at the same time, we are at a new firm and I don''t want my first impression on the partners here to be negative. Part of the problem is that there is so much else going on, my energy is getting divided and I don''t have the right energy for anything. We moved all weekend, then after work last night went back over the the old place to finish up, didn''t get home till 10. Plus we are going out of town on Thursday, so I won''t be in the office on Thursday and Friday. So it''s not work''s fault that I am pregnant, moving into a new house and going out of town, but all of those things make it nearly impossible to have enough energy to do extra work. And I''m worried I am overdoing it and am going to end up on bed rest or something.

Today is also our 2 year anniversary and DH and I are supposed to go out for a nice dinner. But I don''t even know if I have it in me. The trip this weekend is technically a "fun" trip. Going to see my BFF''s and they are throwing me a baby shower. But DH''s family also lives out there, so between trying to see every friend I have out there (impossible) plus spend enough time with his family, I am already feeling like it is more of a "duty" trip than a relaxing one. Don''t get me wrong, it will be fun, we are staying at a nice hotel and plus 3 of my BFF''s have had babies in the past 3 months and this is the first time I will get to see them. But it just feels like one more thing on my plate right now.

Ok, feel better after my bitch fest. It''s not that bad at all, but you know how the preggo tiredness is it''s own monster. It''s just so hard to explain to MEN that it''s a different tired without sounding like you are just complaining. And it seems like people worry about stuff that isn''t a big deal to me (like lifting a folder or something), but mention you are tired and it''s just like, yeah, I''m tired too. NO you AREN''T the same tired as me!

Oh, and I finally had my first totally irrational emotional overreaction! I was watching the news and they were reporting on those two reporters (Laura Ling and Euna Lee) that were just sentenced to 12 years in a prison labor camp for supposedly crossing the border in North Korea. When I heard they were sentenced to 12 years, I just started crying. Then they reported that Euna Lee has a 4 year old daughter, and I freaking lost it. DH came running into the room I was crying so hard. But I just can''t fathom having a 4 yr old and knowing you wouldn''t be there to raise her. Ok, here I go again, I am totally crying again. Man, this maternal instinct is something else.

Ok, re-reading this, I just sound like a baby. I know it could be worse, I know I could be in pain or something could be wrong. Just tired, that''s all, like I know we all are.

Carry on! I will try to come back later and actually be helpful and respond to some posts. Thanks for letting me complain.

Oh China, I''m so sorry....whine away!!!...we don''t mind

Maybe this will cheer you up...

Me thinks I have to get these for the boys

and this...

Ok, Mandarine, that is the funniest onesie I''ve seen yet!!!! You have to get those.

Thanks for the smile!

Mandarine, glad everything is going well with the twins! Cute onsies!

China, I know it''s hard, but can you take a half hour to yourself to just relax? I was lucky enough to not have to work after we moved, and I can''t imagine trying to keep on top of all that kind of stuff plus going on a trip...and I know all about trips with family being nice but still stressful. When we go home, we try to divide our time between dh''s parents, my mom, my dad, and friends, and it never seems to work out and someone feels slighted. Hopefully it will be more fun than you think though!

I''ve been in major shopping mode. I keep buying packs of onsies and other clothes, but can''t really decide how many newborn I need, etc. Plus, then I get upset that lo won''t have any actual "outfits" so I start buying those too. Then I realize that by the time he''s out of 0-3 months, it will probably be getting cold out. I need to stop buying now and just buy as I find I need things I think.

But I will ask one shopping question (maybe 2)...anyone found packages of side-snap or kimono tee shirts (not onsies) that are not just plain white? I found white Gerber ones, but want some colored ones.

Also, what are you all buying for swaddling? Dh isn''t a fan of the swaddle me blankets (he''s done a lot of OBYGYN rotations and is good at swaddling with a regular blankets), but I''m afraid that the receiving blankets we got will be too small to do it properly.

I''m getting through up to 4 changes a day... so I would suggest at least the following for newborn sizes:

Short-sleeved onesies x 6
Long-sleeves onesies x 4
Trousers x 4
Long-sleeved onesies with feet x 4
Sleepbags - like onesies but no legs just an elasticated bit at the bottom (great for changing nappies in the night)
Bibs - loads as it saves having to change clothes all the time

I bought nearly all 0-3 months and had to go out and buy newborn stuff after she was born. Also depends on the temperature where you live - here it can be really hot and sunny one day and freezing cold and raining the next so I''ve had to have a whole range of things.

My SIL''s mother gave us a load of gorgeous baby clothes from the USA - mainly from Carter (?) - they are so much nicer that what we have here!

Swaddling - I bought ones from Kiddopotamus and Bug In A Rug. Only problem is that Daisy will not be swaddled - takes two people to even try and then she still goes ballistic. The only time I ever wrap her up now is to wash her hair and even then I have to do it so she can still move her arms...
20.gif

Talking of washing, I hugely recommend the Tummy Tub if you have it over there - Daisy totally loves it.

Ebree - commiserations on the feet/legs thing, the only good thing is that you lose a bazillion kilos after the birth as they go down!

Peony/Madarine - I had a fetal cardio echo, basically it was just another u/s but done by the fetal cardio department rather than the maternity unit. Just looked more in depth at the heart only. It wasn''t as fun as the other scans - but reassuring to know that all was okay. I had one because of one of the meds I was on.

Oh China, just a hug for you.

If it makes you feel any better, yet another saltine has given me horrible acid reflux. What is the deal with that?

Hi to everyone- Amber-centric post here, we have our 16w appointment with blood draw for the quad screen in a half an hour and I really hope I don't faint again. No matter what I eat or do I faint and it is the worst feeling in the world. Good news: hopefully we'll schedule our BIG u/s!!

China- Feel free to whine. It sounds like you''ve got a lot on your plate. Hopefully you can get some relaxing in the weekend, even with your trip.

Sabine- I found some of the side snap tees in colors at the BRU by us. They don''t have them online, only in stores, but I registered for a pack of neutral ones that are yellow, and a pack of boy ones. They are made by Gerber. There was one whole rack that was all Gerber stuff at our BRU that all the essentials for newborns, and I kind of stuck to that for our registry.

I really didn''t register for a lot of clothes/bibs. Based on the last couple of showers I''ve been to, it seems like people jsut give you whatever the heck they want in the way of that stuff. My sister ended up with so much clothes for her twins it is ridiculous! In addition, she got a bunch of hand me down stuff from her neigbor, and since she already had so many new clothes from her showers, she gave all the hand me downs to me. So I already have a bunch of clothes without even having a shower yet. I have this feeling this kid is going to need lots of extra storage for all his clothes!

I''m going to try and catch up but I''m back from my mini honeymoon (only took 2 days).

The wedding was so much fun and was absolutely perfect!

Amber,

This may be to late for today, but I used to faint every time I had blood drawn until a doctor told me a trick - If you are talking it is impossible to faint. So now I always start chatting with the lab tech as soon as I get in the room and don''t stop until they are done. It works everytime. They probably think I am nuts as I just blab on about nothing, but I don''t care because I hate fainting. I also bring a granola bar or some crackers to eat right afterwards. I hope this helps!

China- you have soooo much going on right now! I hope the trip this weekend turns out to be fun and that you have a little time to relax at least. Happy Anniversary.

Pandora- thanks for posting that list.

Mandarine- Those onsies are too cute, you should definitely get those for the boys!

Amber- Good luck at your appointment :)

The Dr. called this morning to schedule my 12week scan, I go in next friday. So, will I see the little one again then? My Dr. explained what was going to happen, but I was kinda overwhelmed at my last appointment so I don''t really remember everything he said.

The one thing that I''d change about this is that I''d swap the pants with baby legs. I find pants a bit annoying to put on, and the fit on all of them is pretty funky on George - although that may partially be because of the cloth diapers. We''ve stopped using them entirely, with the exception of khaki pants or overalls or jeans if we''re trying to make him look presentable. Baby legs, on the other hand, are oh so cute and easy.

We could have used newborn sizing, but didn''t neeeed to buy them. The 0-3s were baggy but not too much so. Gerber runs really small, so if you have any 0-3 Gerbers they''ll be I think smaller than the NB Carters.

Alternative vaccine schedules and doctors - I found ours through word of mouth, and Dr Bob Sears has a user-submitted list of docs on his website.

Mandarine - those onesies are just hilarious.

Thanks everyone, I feel much better now. At lunch I just went and sat outside on a bench in the sunshine for about 10 minutes- sunshine does wonders for the grumpy soul. And today wasn''t as bad as I feared, work-wise. I think I just needed to vent.

Amber- Hope the blood test went okay! I HATE having all that blood drawn. What works best for me is to think about something else, or like someone suggested, TALK. Just get your mind off of it! I would say eat some crackers, but...
11.gif
Actually, plain M&M''s seem to help me. ONE Saltine, really? That''s too funny.

Ebree- No forward progress on the nursery YET. But now that we''re moved in, I am going to focus on it again. We have a crib, and we are just using a dresser that we had in our former bedroom but it won''t fit in our new one. It''s huge, but pretty so it''ll have to do. I need to pick paint for the walls, order a glider/rocker and get a changing table or something. I''m just stuck on colors right now, but I need to get on it. Yuck on your L/D trip, glad everything is ok.

Fiery- So excited for your wedding. I remember Mandarine''s pictures, that place is gorgeous!!!! Will little Miss Fiery be part of your ceremony? Ok, so you let me go on and on about being tired and here you are with no hot water. You are a much bigger trooper than me. Is it getting fixed soon?

NYCSparkle- Sorry you''re so uncomfortable, but it will be over soon. And sorry, but had to laugh at your DH quacking at you! That''s mean, but also funny.
2.gif

Lysser- Hey there! You sound great. How did we get to be so pregnant? Can''t believe you''re 27 1/2 weeks! I remember when you were worrying about getting to 12. Don''t congratulate me yet on the unmedicated thing! I could cave like a baby at first contraction. And I"m not 100% sure I am going for it, but as of now I feel like at least trying. Sorry about Caden, but it does seem to be out there quite a lot. We can help with other names, if you''re sharing! I feel like you had another option that everyone liked??? Also, love that bedding. I remember seeing it somewhere after we picked something else. So cute!

Thanks for the tip, November! I was definitely a chatty Cathy today, and am proud to report my status of not fainting! So we heard the hb (150s), I have not gained any weight since my last weigh in a month ago, and we''re scheduling our big u/s for 4 weeks from now. OB wants us to see a peri (they have ALL patients see a peri for the anatomic survey) so we need to call tomorrow.

Still glad there is a baby in there!!

Wow- I''m home and SO far behind!!!!! Thanks to those of you that posted the tips on what to do when sick, or even just offered sympathy. I am still a MESS, it has moved into my lungs now and it''s so hard to breathe! Ugh! Going to the doc tomorrow for my 22 week checkup (unreal!) and really looking forward to having her check me out and hopefully get some kind of help. I cannot BELIEVE all I''ve missed with you guys!

First of all, to Mela and CDT- I know I already said it quickly, but WOW, you guys had some gorgeous boys! What little heartbreakers! I have to say I was a bit relieved to hear that CDT had a fairly easy delivery (right?), considering the last few around here have scared the daylight''s out of me (Blen, Pandora, Mela)! But like everyone said, all''s well that ends well- with happy and healthy babies!!!
emlove.gif

Robbie- put me down for BOY!!!! I totally think that''s a little peeny in that shot!

Lysser- thanks for the tip on the neti pot. I am such a chicken to try it! Does it hurt? A couple of the girls at work today said it''s the way to go, but I''m scared! And I love your bedding! It''s one of my favorites! As for names, Caden is cool, but I totally get your not wanting to use it now. Seems like a lot of the "_aden" names are really popular now.

China- whing on, girlfriend! I had a crazy week travelling for work last week with long days and lots of ''on my (swollen) feet'' time, and I can''t even imagine moving too! Poor thing! I hope you have a nice weekend. And your belly is just adorable!

Fiery- oooohhhh, I was a lurker during Mandarine''s wedding and totally remember her pics because they were unbelievable! Your wedding will be amazing!

Tao- speaking of weddings, let''s hear about yours! Love to see pics too!

Mandarine- YAYAYYAYAYAY for a great scan!!!! So glad to hear that all looks well with your little muchachos!!

Is it just me or is time FLYING on this thread? I can''t believe that so many of you (Robbie, EBree, Fiery) are getting so close! It''s NUTS!!! So exciting!
36.gif

how do you upload from photobucket so that the pictures show up on here?

Thanks for the nice words about the bedding. We really like it too. We''ve got our crib set picked out and bought, just waiting on painting the room and stuffs.

Natalina - I swear by the neti pot. It totally doesn''t hurt, but it does feel a *bit* like you are drowning. But it works so well. I swear by it. I''d give it a shot.

CC - Don''t even worry about the complaining! You have a ton going on NOT being prego (having to sort of start over at a firm is hard - I totally understand what you are saying)...and well, as so far as I can tell, growing a human really takes it out of a girl.

Oh, and you are right about having a name we have liked since before I even got prego - Abraham Thomas, with Brahm as his nickname. It is both of our dads'' names and we were pretty set on it. But then DH said he wanted us to consider other names, and that opened it all up. Gar. Here is our initial list of names we like, just to give you an idea...
Arend
Porter
Hugo
Quinn
Calvin
Caden
Abraham
Liam
Caleb
Simon

I''d love any additional suggestions from you wonderful ladies.

Ebree - We live in a decent sized city. Not huge, second biggest in the state. Good thought on the crunchy sites. I''ll definitely check them out!

Mandarine - Yay for a good U/S!

Peony - At this point, I''m not sure what changes I''d like to make to the vax schedule - other than delaying the MMR vaccine until 24 months - but I want a doc that''d be willing to talk to me about all of it - if that makes sense.

Sabine - We registered for swaddle me blankets.

Tao - Congrats!

Fiery - I hope you have warm waters for your bathing soon! That stinks!!!

Amber - Yay for surviving and hearing the HB with the doppler! That''s great stuffs!

Sweet Pea - Are you going to do the NT test? If so, you''ll DEFINITELY get to see the baby. If not, I''m not sure. I know that my docs only do one ultrasound (the big 20 week anatomy scan) as a normal U/S, so I''m not much help!

Not much new or exciting going on here. Kid is still kicking like mad - he actually moved my laptop yesterday! I somehow managed to get 3 bug bites on my back. They are so farking itchy. I live an exciting life.
