Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Ok, I have a bit to catch up on (fell asleep at the start of the Pens game last night, perhaps that's the key to them winning, me not watching, lol), but I wanted to hop on and post this recall email that I got:

1. LaJobi Recalls Bonavita "Cabana" Drop Side Cribs Due To Entrapment and Strangulation Hazards
http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09238.html

2. LaJobi Recalls Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson Drop Side Cribs; Risk of Entrapment and Suffocation
http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09239.html

We originally wanted the Babi Italia Pinehurst drop side. I'm soooo glad we changed our minds because otherwise I'd be 3 days from full term with a crib we couldn't use!

Gotta get ready for my doctor's appointment. Send good vibes my way! We're meeting with a doctor we haven't met yet and I'm really hoping she isn't like the one from last week.

China-You poor thing. Moving is so stressful. You and Sabine are brave to have gone through it now. Yes, we''ll have DD at the ceremony. I want her in the photos.

Sabine-I''m buying as I go. I have a bunch of onesies that were given to me as gifts (seriously, a laundry basket full of nothing but onesies). I have maybe 10 newborn, a bunch of 3-6-9, and only 5 12 months. As for swaddling, I have the swaddle me blankets after a friend recommended it but I''ll probably just use receiving blankets. I''m really comfortable with swaddling in a regular blanket as well.

Tao-Congratulations again

The water heater mess
29.gif
-
So when we first moved in, the association replaced our heater because we noticed (before we signed) that it wasn''t working. Then a year or so later, we had it replaced again by an electrician. Last week I noticed it wasn''t working as it should and the weekend we had no hot water. The electrician came yesterday and said that once again, the heater was messed up. Apparently the last electrician that installed it didn''t bother checking what caused the heater to get messed up in the first place. Because the heater isn''t working, this electrician can''t figure out what caused the short. So now we have to buy a new heater again (
38.gif
) and then call this electrician so that he can test it out. He thinks there may be too much power going into it
33.gif
. We''re installing the heater today but I won''t be able to have them come look at it until Monday. I get off of work too late. Sucks but oh well...

I thought having no a/c sucked...but I think that your problem is a million times worse...I have to have my hot shower every morning or else I will not be a nice person. You are much stronger than I am.

I figured that is what I would have to do with the pictures..maybe I''ll make a slide show and link everyone there instead...until I have time to resize.

Just FYI that is against PS rules.

Sorry!

But you can upload pics to the gallery here without resizing and the website will resize them for you. I think that is the easiest way if you want to put a bunch up.

This thread is moving so fast I didn''t even get the chance to say CONGRATS CDT!!!! Alexander is so beautiful!
30.gif

Amber - I''m glad to hear you didn''t faint. I hate having my blood drawn too... My veins are so small they have to use baby needles and it takes an eternity. I''m having my first prenatal this afternoon; I''m hoping she won''t need any of my blood!

Sweet pea - Good luck on your appointment on Friday!

Robbie - I''m voting for GIRL, just to contradict the majority...
28.gif

Fiery - I hope you can get this heater problem fixed soon!
8.gif

China - Big hugs for you! You''re right, so many people have no idea how tired pregnancy can make us feel. I certainly am discovering a whole new level of tired! I hope you enjoy your trip this weekend despite everything. DH and I are supposed to go visit my SIL on Saturday, but I don''t think I''m going to go. I''m not very good with longer trips now that I''m pregnant... I get pretty bad cases of motion sickness.
14.gif

So, 11 weeks for me today and my first prenatal appointment! I hope we get to listen to the heartbeat... Is there anything I shouldn''t forget to ask about or mention?

Anchor, I don't know how they do it in Canada, but I found out yesterday that they took NINE vials of my blood the first appointment, because they "have to test for everything" to get base levels for future appointments and to check for any outstanding issues.

Good luck! We heard saw the heartbeat at our first u/s-appointment, and the next one we heard it (9 weeks), so hopefully you'll get to hear yours!

Also: I ran into a glass door this morning. RAN INTO A DOOR. In front of a ton of people. My ego is busted.

Lysser, I can''t believe that you''re almost 28 weeks already! Are you still liking your OB practice? Sorry about Caden being off the table. Love the bedding! I really like Abraham/Brahm. DH loves Brahm, but not Abraham and I''m big on having a full name and a nickname so I''m pretty sure it''s out for us. Simon is DH''s favorite now. On the way home from our appointment this morning he told me it''s my favorite. Uh, I like it, but not my fave, lol. He told me that I just need to write it out a few times and then I''ll see. He''s so funny.

Sunkist, I think it''s going to be hard to find a maternity dress in taffeta without going to a bridal shop. Taffeta isn''t exactly the most comfy fabric so I don''t think it''s too commonly used for maternity wear.

Sabine, I''m really surprised that CNN would run something like that without including how accurate it really is.

Peony, happy anniversary!

Ebree, how annoying that the doc wasn''t even there. Glad everything''s ok! I never saw my doc either when I went in to L&D a few weeks ago even though she was at the hospital. I need to get on that bag packing as well. Mine''s still just a pile on the floor that I add to every now and then. I''m finding it hard to pack any clothes though. I can''t pack baby''s outfit since we don''t know the sex (someone will need to wash whichever outfit we end up needing and bring it to us) and I don''t want to pack any of my clothes since I have so few things left that fit and are comfortable. I don''t want to be without something for what could still be 5.5 weeks!

Mandarine, glad to hear the big u/s went well! Cute onesies!

Fiery, are you sure you''re not having bh? Some of mine are completely sensation free and I only know they''re happening because I touch my stomach and it''s rock hard. Sorry your water heater is broken!

China, sorry you were having a rough day. It sounds like you''ve got a lot on your plate. Vent away whenever you feel the need!

Sweet pea, have fun at your 12 week scan next week! I can''t see why you wouldn''t get to see the little one. After all, what else would they be scanning?

Amber, yay for not fainting and getting to schedule your big u/s!!!

Natalina, I agree that time is flying!

Anchor, how''d you get to be 11 weeks already?!

The new doctor that we had today was really nice. Apparently all of the doctors in the practice have now gone over my birth plan and are ok with it. We still have one more to go over it with in person, but I can''t see there being any issues. I had my GBS test and now I can''t wait to get the results. I really hope I don''t have it so I don''t need the antibiotics. Not only would that mean having an IV instead of just a heplock, but it would also mean having to come into the hospital earlier to ensure that I had the antibiotics for long enough before delivering. I asked when they start doing internals and she said not til 37 or 38 weeks. I asked if she could do one even though I''m not quite 37 weeks yet. I''m just way too curious even though I know it doesn''t mean anything. So baby is at -1 or -2 station, no dilation and she didn''t mention effacement.

hi everyone. i''m so behind, sorry! This is going to be whingey (pandora, you''re obviously in a commonwealth country. My Mum is from New Zealand and us kids have been referred to as "whingers" for ages when we''re being a pain in the butt. haha).

I''m still battling the pneumonia. Yes, still! I think the fact that it took me more than a week of being sick to even be diagnosed certainly didn''t help. I feel better after a round of antibiotics and a few days in the hospital, but I''m still coughing up gunk and it''s killing my chest and back. So, I''m off to the doctors today. Again. Please God let this be over soon.

On another fun and exciting note, I yacked this morning for the first time since finding out I''m pregnant. Joy! (sarcasm) I''ve been really really dizzy for the last week and some and I''m sure this was exacerbated by the fact that I have no lung capacity to speak of. Starting late last week, I started to feel really nauseous but didn''t throw up. Well this morning I screwed myself over by not eating breakfast as soon as I got up. I was too weak and exhausted to go into the kitchen so I laid down on the couch for an hour and a half. Dumb dumb. I got up to answer the phone (stupid telemarketer) and after I hung up I started coughing a little. I spat in the sink and then I got that feeling/noise (like when your cat is going to hawk a hairball. You cat owners know that lovely sound. haha). So ran to the bathroom and spent more than five minutes with my head in the toilet. On an empty stomach. Lesson learned.

As much as I certainly did not enjoy that lovely episode, it made me feel better because I''ve been so worried about the baby. I''ve been sick for so long, had a fever for ages, was on antibiotics, etc. I''ve just been terrified that s/he''s not doing well. So, as long as I''m yacking I know that at least something is going on in there. We have our first appointment on Friday. Cross your fingers for us. :-)

Ah the empty stomach throw up...always lovely. I still get that every now and again (had it on the first day of my honeymoon actually...Fun!).

I''ll be 18 weeks tomorrow! How did that happen????

Cello - I''m so sorry you''re so sick! I''m sending some healing vibes to you...

tao, congrats on being a married lady! How does it feel?

Cello, I''m sorry you''re still sick! I actually think the empty stomach throw ups are the worst. For me, they would last much longer and were more painful. Not fun.

Fiery, that really stinks about the water heater! I can''t believe you have to buy another one! I would be sooooo angry at the guy who installed it without checking to see what was wrong!

Anchor, good luck at your appointment!

I can''t believe how far along some of you are getting!

As for me, I had my Navy Intern''s Spouse''s orientation this morning. It was very informative, but definitely overwhelming. Basically, they confirmed that this year is going to be hard. It''s definitely survivable, but hard. They also said that having a support system of our own would be important since a lot of times dh just won''t be available or not able to compromise. That sucks because I know no one here and am worried about trying to meet people with a newborn. A lot of the other spouses seemed nice, but no one really seemed all that interested in hanging out any time soon. I really hate trying to make friends...=(

Sabine you are so awesome that you''ll make friends in no time! I''m sure the other moms will want to hang out soon especially when the baby comes around. There''s nothing that bonds a group of women more than sleepless nights and countless diaper changes
3.gif

I just had my "surprise" work shower that someone ruined for me 15 minutes before it started
20.gif
. But I played it off well. We got a very generous gift card that I''m thrilled about since we were going to go pick up the car seat this week. Now we can get the car seat, the extra base, and the sng! And I can use my coupon

We heard the heartbeat!!!! 150 bpm, nice and strong!! The doc confirmed 11 weeks and says things seem to be going great! I'm so excited!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
It makes it all so much more real...

In other news, I'll have to start physiotherapy/osteopathy ASAP for my pelvic/back pain. My doc also recommended that I be pulled off work ASAP, so I might be staying home sooner than expected. Wouldn't be so bad, especially since I'd still be getting 94% of my income, then I'll have my 52 weeks maternity leave starting from the baby's birth. I'm thinking about taking online classes in September to keep busy.

wow this thread moves fast!!!

Tao CONGRATS ON THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
Best wishes to you and your husband!!

Fiery Boo for the hot water issue but yay for baby showers and coupons!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anchor Congrats on hearing the HB!!! isn''t it the best sound ever?....it just never gets old, no matter how many times you hear it!!!. 52 weeks??????? I definitely live in the wrong country...
14.gif

Amber So gald you didn''t pass out!!
9.gif
and congrats on the strong HB too!!

Swetpea I''m not sure if they''ll do another u/s. I get lots of them, but because it''s considered high risk. i think with singletons you get 2-3 during the pregnancy.

Natalina, time really IS flying! I''ll be 19 weeks tomorrow...which means (since it''s twins) that I''m most likely already half way there!
6.gif
crazy isn''t it!???

Robin I am so happy this Dr was nicer! You''re getting so close!!!

Cello hahaha, well if that lovely epidose made you happy, then that''s good!!!
9.gif
I hope you start feeling better soon!!!

Sabine I hear you...I suck at making new friends...I just don''t like it. I moved up like an hour away after the wedding and I still have made no friends
15.gif
It''s harder for me though since I work from home...so I don''t really get much interaction!. I am sure you will be fine...specially with a baby in ahnd, everybody loves babies
30.gif

ok, i think that''s all, sorry if I missed anyone!. I''m doing good...19 weeks tomorrow!! yayyyyy!!!
36.gif

Battling this crazy heartburn and back pain..other than that I really can''t complain, it''s been a good first half of the pregnancy! (fingers crossed for an easy second half!!!)

M~

Sabine---I believe you said you moved to Virginia...I''m in the Virginia Beach area...so if you are in the same area and need any advice on anything, just let me know. If you didn''t move to Virginia--I blame the baby for making me think that...

uhh, was going to ask...

Is anyone doing something cute for Father''s Day?. DH didn''t do anything for Motehr''s day (shame on him, he will pay
27.gif
) but I thought it would be cool to surprise him with something....
A card? a couple of cute onesies saying how dad rocks or something?

Any ideas?

Not sure I''ll be able to do anything for him this Father''s Day (but here''s hopin!!!), but last year after Father''s Day, I found a Matchbox Father''s Day car on a card, and it''s a cute keepsake (without a year on it) that I plan to give Paul on his first Father''s Day, be that when the baby''s in utero or already born. He has a big love of matchbox cars and time spent with his dad playing with them, so I think it will be really sentimental, but in a "manly" way.
9.gif
I''ll probably also make a giant chocolate chip cookie on a pie sheet and write "Happy Father''s Day" on it with a "Love Baby (our last name)."

I think it''s totally cute to do something for your husband while you''re pregnant for Father''s Day, because so often the dads feel a little outside of the loop because they''re not feeling all the kicks, the constant reminders that a baby''s about to be born.

Let us know what you end up deciding to do, Mandarine (a toy he and the boys can play with would be cute... boys never grow up from the love of toys!!).
9.gif

Aww, fisher, I like your idea for Father''s Day. So cute and thoughtful!

My DH got me a card on Mother''s Day this year, but it was more from the dog than from the baby. He thinks it''s hilarious to get me cards from the dog on special occasions, since I treat the dog like my actual child
1.gif

Anyway, I''m not sure if I am going to get him something for Father''s Day or not. I was going to get him some sort of tie-dyed onesie, since my DH is a total hippie and totally dressed in tie dye when I met him. But knowing that he is, we''ve already gotten some from people! So, he may get an "I love my Daddy" something, but since we''re short on cash right now, I''m not quite sure yet.

Mandarine, if you come up with any good ideas (for cheap
1.gif
), let us know.

Lysser - I just skimmed your list of names without reading what was written above it, and Abraham just jumped out at me. And then when I actually read what you wrote - I think that Abraham Thomas would be perfect. I love Calvin too, and Simon.

hey ladies! just wanted to thank everyone again for all the congrats!! We''re doing well here, just have our nights and days mixed up
3.gif

Natalina - I do consider myself to have had an "easy" labor. I never even needed pitocin I progessed so quickly on my own. But I feel I earned that easy labor after the last 2 months of pregnancy I had
9.gif
All kidding aside, I feel really fortunate for the labor I experienced because it was exactly what I wanted (but never had a birth plan or anything like that).

I want to post more pics, but I haven''t had a chance to take many pics let alone upload them to my laptop.

And I just want to tell you girls, that ALL the pain goes away after birth, at least for me it did. And i was in excruitating pain w/ the stent and lower back, hip pain. But it literally disappeared after the little guy was here.

And in great news for me, I get the stent removed this Saturday!!!!!!!! Soooooo excited for that!

Can''t wait to "meet" the new arrivals soon!!!! A lot of you are so close now!!!!

Not sure if this has been posted but LaJobi Recalls Bonavita "Cabana" drop side cribs due to entrapment and strangulation hazards and Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson drop side cribs due to risk of entrapment and suffocation

ETA: oh, never mind. Just saw Robbie posted it! Robbie I vote boy as well.

Thanks for the info ladies, I''m excited that we will see the baby again, and I think this Doc''s u/s machine is newer(better) than my regular Dr. so we''ll get a good pic. I go in for the blood work this friday, then the scan next friday.

Thanks Robbie and Tacori for posting the recall info. How/where does one look to find out that info?

I''ve been thinking about Fathers Day as well, but haven''t decided what to do yet. Fisher, love the cookie idea (but I''d prob. eat the whole thing, lol) Mandarine, I made DH onesies that said "apple of daddy''s eye" "daddy''s lucky charm" and "I <3 my dad" and gave them to him with my pregnancy test. I''ll post pics tomorrow of them, I thought they were pretty cute (if I do say so myself
2.gif
)

On a non-pregnancy related note: We are getting close to getting our salon open! June 30 will be the first official day of business. I am so excited to get it up and running, and then move on to the baby''s room
9.gif

Congrats on the salon, Sweet Pea!!

Sorry I''m so lame everyone, I''m terrible about posting- I have the memory of a fruit fly! I do read everything, though,

RE: Father''s Day, we''re probably not going to do anything, but I''m going to search for a Father''s Day card for Paul, we got my dad one ages ago that is our favorite card of all time- it has a woodchuck on the front, and he''s holding up a fist and it says something like, "My dad is pretty awesome, even if your dad COULD chuck more wood, which I DOUBT!" So I hope to get that for him! We already have footy jammies for the bebe covered in fuzzy footballs (Paul is a football coach), so the onesie is out...

Tao, my new address is technically in Virginia Beach, although we live much closer to the Chesapeake area! If you feel comfortable, where in the VB area do you live? And a beach question for ya...do you know if there are any pet friendly beaches in the area?

I''m not planning on doing anything for dh for father''s day except maybe some ''getting on the floor'' since we''ve been lacking in that department lately! Dh is all for it, but me, not so much.

Sweet Pea, good luck with the opening! That is so exciting!

Hi Ladies
35.gif

It is *hot* over here
14.gif
. I''m beginning to understand all of the "at least you won''t be pregnant during the summer" comments lol

Re: Father''s Day, FI brought this up on Monday after we saw a Father''s Day commercial. He told me he doesn''t want anything because he considers it bad luck. I had purchased a pink Miami Heat onesie for the baby and was going to give it to him along with a card but he was really against getting a gift that I just gave it to him the same day.

The funny thing though is that he says "who knows, maybe the baby will be here by the time Father''s Day comes" to which I replied "You know father''s day is next weekend, right?"

Yeah...I''m thinking he''s not going to say that again
23.gif

I''m about a 2 minute drive from the town center. I just saw No Doubt last night at the Amphitheatre (which is also about a 2-5 minute drive from my apartment)

I think Dogs are allowed on the beach during the off season....I know when I was younger we used to take our dog to Sandbridge Beach--not sure if that is still allowed though.

Hey Sabine! I was a navy brat and VABeach was home to me for years as a kid. It was the one place we always ended up. We lived in Navy housing directly adjacent to the base for years and then we finally got our own house in the Great Neck area when I was in middle school. We used to take our golden retriever to Chick''s Beach all the time. When I googled it, the Chick''s Beach website has a pets section, so I''m guessing they''re still animal-friendly.

When we moved to the Great Neck area, we''d take the pup down to the beach where Great Neck Rd. meets Shore Drive.

Here''s some helpful info I found when I looked for dog-friendly beaches in VABeach:

Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge -Sandpiper Road Virginia Beach
First Landing State Park -2500 Shore Drive Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach Public Beaches -off Highway 60 Virginia Beach

And on another note, I know that you said that you have a hard time making friends. My Mum is from New Zealand and had two young kids when we moved to VaBeach the first time. She''s definitely a loner, but still found the support she needed because being in the Navy is like having a built in family. Are you living in Navy housing? The Navy life had it''s difficulties, but it also had it''s perks. The greatest was that being Navy meant that you always had resources. And you get to bank at NFCU! The best bank ever! Haha. I still love them. :-)

This will be short 'n sweet until later- I woke up with a headache and neeeeed more sleep.

cello- I hope you feel better soon, and my fingers are crossed for a great appointment Friday!

tao- Happy 18 weeks!

Mandarine- Happy 19 weeks!

Anchor- Congratulations on hearing the heartbeat! A strong 150 bpm is fabulous.

Lysser- I agree with the others- love Abraham (Brahm) Thomas. It sounds perfect.

RE: Father's Day: I'm not quite sure what we'll do yet. I might order some Thai from a place he really likes and we'll have a quiet movie night in.
1.gif

A few friends of mine surprised me with a small baby shower at dinner last night. It was so sweet. A couple of them are mothers, so it's nice to be able to chat with them about all things baby. There's still so much I need to learn.

36 weeks today!

Sabine, I also am super shy about making friends, but I think it''s because I''ve never really left this city and have kept the same ol'' friends around. I''m sure you''re going to make tons of friends, though! I don''t understand cliques in a Navy base, how many of the people there are on their own? Come on, people, don''t they remember how it felt to be the new gal in town without anyone else? Anyway, I wish you strength for the upcoming year!

Cello, forgot to mention that I hope you feel better!! Pneumonia is no laughing matter, and when you can only breathe about 30% of your normal intake it really affects you in every single way (I''m an asthmatic with a history of pneumonia) from back/lung/rib pain, to the inability to have enough strength/oxygen to move around. How are you feeling now? Does a steam help? Not like a steam room, but just inhaling steam is supposed to be good for your lungs.

I scheduled my 20 week scan today!! Since we have this crazy Catholic school insurance, we have an "exclusive provider" plan which gives us free reign As Long As the Participant is Contracted. So I had to go about finding out if the perinatologist I was referred to was actually covered (interesting side note, two out of the THREE in practice are covered, ONE is not, WTH??), which he is. So... 20 week scan: July 7th!! I''m super excited.

Now, to go about sending my SIL links to birth announcements I like. Anyone have any favorites?

Tao- Congrats! I''m looking forward to seeing your pics.

Cello- I''m sorry you''ve had such a rough go of things, I hope you start feeling better soon!

Lysser- Hi! I''m happy to see that you are doing well, love the bedding!

Fiery- Hope you get hot water soon, cold showers are the worst!

Sabine- Are you living on base? Are there any play groups you can sign up for? All my friends who have babies met other mothers/babies at the park, on walks, etc. Don''t know if that is practical for you but thought I''d throw it out there.

Robbie- I hope you had a good appointment.

Anchor- Congrats on hearing the heartbeat! Canadian benefits amaze me; you should definitely take care of yourself. Taking classes online would be a great way to take advantage of your "off" time.

Natalina- I hope you continue to feel better.

Amber- Yay for not passing out!

Mandarine- Congrats on being half way there...time really flies! I got DH a card...and we''re telling our families the night before (as long as all looks well at next week''s ultrasound) so he''ll be able to celebrate out in the open.

Fisher- Such a sweet idea! Oh, and thanks for the congrats!

CDT- Can''t wait to see pics!

SweetPea- Good luck with wrapping up the final details of the salon, how exciting.

EBree- So sweet that your friends threw you a surprise shower...I hope your headache gets better.

Sorry if I forgot anyone...

I''m starting to feel weak and nauseas if I don''t eat every couple of hours...not sure if this is the precursor to morning sickness or what. As long as I stay full I''m fine. I''m pretty short so I hate eating so much more than usual without working out, but I''m so dead tired lately that any exertion beyond going to work wipes me out. I''m very lucky that DH has picked up a lot of the slack around the house but last weekend killed me. We threw two dinner parties and had house guests. This weekend we have two parties to go to more house guests. I need to muster up some energy! I just can''t wait to let everyone know why I''ve been "off" lately...it''s getting hard to keep it a secret!
