Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Bellies:

Tacori & NJC you are too cute. my belly at 37 weeks is so much bigger than NJCs! Seriously dear, you look very fit & trim. I guess when you are tall, there is more space for the baby.

Tacori: nice chest...LOL....poor Diver & NJC...denied by the boobyfairy.

Lili: Still here, I go in at 6am tomorrow. All goes well & I''ll be home by Friday....and can post pics of her then. If I wind up with a c-section due to that dang fibroid, it will be more like sunday or monday.

Ok...am I weird, but I am on a liquid diet today....HA! I did have Kashi waffles for breakfast with blueberries (but those are high fiber & fiber be "helpful" LOL) but I had a smoothie for lunch & am planning on chicken noodle soup for dinner. TMI warning...when I get nervous I back up, and I had an issue with "stool blocking" Jake''s descent last time...great...classy, nurse made me push on the table to get rid of it. (had a killer epi going on so couldn''t get up) TG my doctor wasn''t there yet & dh had no clue. I even took some Metamucil yesterday because I felt my nerves doing their number on me again. (I was induced last time too). That seemed to work. (and yes its safe for pregos...)

Thats one bennie of not being induced, you usually get the runs before labor starts, so your body cleans itself out.

Unfortunately, I''m hungry now. Hmm...I could have juice, yogurt, and applesauce. oooh, I think I have a chocolate protein shake around here somewhere. mmm. I dont'' understand how people ever did liquid diets for real. They truly suck. Hungry!!! Ok...must go suck down all soft food in my house. I need energy!

diver, just read in the birth video thread that you'll be induced tomorrow! Yay! Good luck to you! Lots of v-delivery vibes coming your way! Can't wait to meet Delaney!

TGal, you are too funny!

njc, you look great! You seriously don't look 37 weeks pregnant!

Diver, wow that''s great. Well, hope you are able to flush out your system and hope everything is smooth sailing tomorrow

Hey ladies,

Good news! THE BABY HAS FLIPPED!
36.gif
The doctor is convinced Baby T is head down (and he was REALLY pushing down to feel) so we are still on track. No mention of my weight (this doc doesn't seem to care as much as the others). I have never been yelled at just warned. I lost weight in my first trimester (3 lbs) b/c of m/s and my weight gain was pretty low until maybe 18 weeks or so. Then I seemed to REALLY catch up! I am talking 7-8lbs in between appointments
23.gif
. Scary! I am over it. I am shy of a 40 lb weight so far. There is nothing that can be done. I made peace with that fact and will deal with it AFTER the baby is born. I AM hoping to stay under 50 lbs. I have always been thin/average (not skinny) so that just seems REALLY scary. I mean the boobs alone got to weigh 10 lbs right
3.gif
How funny. I don't think they even look big in that shirt!

I agree, njc you look TINY!!!!

ETA: Lili, I feel very lucky to have the MIL I have. I am relieved he is not going (just in case)! Good to know your sister lost her weight fast. I am not worried...yet...Also, never know. It could be a boy. Wouldn't that shock us all!

Ella, we are going to Mexico when baby is 6 months for a wedding and will need to get baby a passport. Seems crazy to me since they change their looks so fast. Maybe it is only good for a really short time. I don't know.

Diver, good luck tomorrow!!!!

DIVER!!! I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to hear all about it. And I hope your liquid diet works! I totally had diarrhea during my early labor and I think it was a good thing--no poop on the table! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!!!

Regarding the passport thing, yes, you have to have one for babies now. And you have to apply for it in person. And both parents have to be there. They don't make it easy at all but I guess it's a good thing! Unlike adult passports, the baby ones are only good for 5 years which makes sense...

Tacori, so glad baby Tacori has flipped! Woohoo! I hope he/she stays that way!

njc, your belly looks great. I can't believe you're almost there. So exciting!!!!!

diver, good luck tomorrow...i hope all goes according to plan and you don''t get sent home until little delaney meets the world and can ride home in her carseat...

tacori, YAY for the baby flipping, that is super, super great news....

From what I''ve heard, kiddie passports are good for five years -- ?

EBree, that''s funny about the PopTarts -- I officially think you''re weird now.
2.gif
I can eat the frosted ones untoasted but these plain ones defniitely need to be heated up to be tolerable! But they''ll definitely make do when momma''s hungry (which is all the time).

Diver, read this out loud to your belly: "Delaney, my PS friends are an impatient bunch, so you better show up tomorrow so I can stop getting harrassed by them!!" Good luck tomorrow -- as much as we''ll miss you, I hope to not hear from you till Friday, lady. And with photos!!

Tacori, yay on the flippin'' baby!! So now does that mean that he/she will most likely stay in that position until birth? Where are you going in Mexico? We went to Zihuatanejo for our honeymoon, and it was just heaven ... can''t wait to go back someday!

My drs scale is about 4 lbs heavier than mine -- in that I always weigh four pounds more there than I do on my home scale (even at my first visit). So even though at both places, I''ve put on the same amount of weight -- 24 lbs. -- the scale at the drs office has me in a different number range, and that freaks me out. I mean, I know I''ll be there soon enough on my home scale too, but I just wasn''t prepared for that number there this morning!

I can''t find any good pics from the wedding where you can really see my belly, which is a shame because my dress was so cute! But we''ll do our weekly photos tomorrow (25 weeks!!), so if there''s a good one (which is a big IF lately), I''ll post new shots.

Thanks ladies! Baby T is behaving. Doc said the head wasn''t deep in my pelvis though. Not sure what that means.

Ella, We are going to Cabo for a friend''s wedding. ANY baby can flip until the last moments before labor, so no, this doesn''t mean much except the farther we get the harder it is for them to move/flip (due to room) so chances are less likely. We are going ahead like the baby is going to stay in position. We shall see! Always expect the unexpected right?

RE: Passports. I have had one since I was 2 (which I think USED to be when a child was required to get their own). I think it was good for 7 years. Did they change all minor''s to 5 years or just infants? Still, Baby T''s newborn pic will mean NOTHING in a year yet alone 5. So silly.

Good luck, Diver. We can't wait to see pics of baby Delaney posted here soon. Hope the delivery goes well (as the recovery).

Baby Chrono had his own passport when we took our vacation last month. Don't forget to apply as early as ypi can. Even with the expedite option, it took us nearly 10 weeks (just 1 week shy of our trip) to get it back. Yes, he looked very different from his passport then but I don't think immigration really cares that much - as long as he has a valid passport, I guess.
3.gif

As for weight gain, I put on 40 lbs with baby #1 and nearly 45 lbs with baby #2. I lost half the weight gain in a matter of weeks, while the rest took a little more time and work. I did lose all the extra weight with baby #1 by the 2 year mark, and I'm working on the last 10 lbs for baby #2.

I'm also one of those that lose weight in the 1st trimester (due to MS), then pack it on like crazy after weeks 18 because I can finally eat and keep it down, plus, everything starts to taste good then.
9.gif
There were times I put on 8 lbs in a week even though I tried to watch what I eat. No idea why...

Tacori,
It's great that Baby T has flipped. I think the Doc meant that Baby T hasn't dropped into the pelvis yet (meaning, engaged in position). Nothing to be concerned about. Most 1st time mom's babies do not "drop" until during labour anyway. On the bright side, this way you will not be peeing every 5 minutes and feeling like the baby is going to drop our any minute during the last few weeks of the pregnancy.
1.gif

Poptarts: Bleck, I’ve never been a fan!
14.gif

PB&J: Yup, I went through that craving too. PB and Honey too… mmmmmm….. I did PB and honey on saltines the other day… I might have to do that again!
18.gif

Tgal – I am sure you do and will look fabulous. I have yet to see a preggo and think D@MN! I am always in awe. I know what you mean about the leave situation… it was just a thought! I want to know if anyone has taken you up rubbing your bum too.
9.gif

Diver – Hahaha… yes, yes… denied by the booby fairy! I suck at time change, but I am thinking its 9am here on the EC and that you are either getting ready to head to the hospital or should already be there!!! Cant wait for you to get back and tell us all about Delaneys big day!!! Sending you good vibes and hopes of avoiding a c-section!!!

Tacori – That is great the baby is head down! I think I actually felt my kiddo flip in the middle of the night… woke me up from a sound sleep… felt like he was just going to pop out that end. And if they did to you what they did to me to check, good golly miss molly! My doc basicly grabbed me just above my hair line down there pressed down and shook… It actually made me say ouch! And yes, I think your boobs can account for at least half your weight… 10 each! So you’ve got nuttin but baby going on, which I think is true anyways! You look great… like I was telling Tgal, I always think preggos are cute… and I admit to staring. My Metro rides are the worst… I stalk rings and bellies… people probably think I am crazy!

So I think you will feel my plight… I have NO creativity lately and have a ton of work to get done, the biggest of which is an annual report! I’m so ready for a break to get my ideas back! I was also wondering if you were going to make announcements for you baby. I keep bouncing back and forth… I feel like I should because that’s what I do, but at the same time, I wonder if I will have the time!

I’ve been having contractions since yesterday… I don’t know if they are the real deal or BHs though. Yesterday they were about 20 minutes apart off and on all day and so far this morning they have been really random. None of them have been strong or long, so I guess they are just working on getting my cervix ready!? Its scary and makes it all so real now! DH got the deer in headlights look when I was telling him about them last night… poor guy! He has class tonight and tomorrow about an hour away, so hopefully nothing happens!!! Actually, I really hope nothing happens until next week!

GO DIVER GO!!!!! GO DELANEY GO!!!!!!!!

njc- you have to do announcements! they''ll be soooo cute!
9.gif
and i was wondering the same of you tacori. do you have any ideas for yours?
njc, do you work from home like tacori? ah, to work from home. sigh.

dh and i talked about trying for a baby next january. sounds soooo freaky just talking about it. i''m beyond petrified.
is it safe to travel by plane at 6 months preggo? we''ve been planning a trip to keywest/miami with another couple, but if we try and suceed in jan., they i dunno about the trip and all.

jcrow, if you are having a normal pregnancy it''s perfectly fine to fly at 6 months. they really don''t want you traveling at 36 weeks or basically the last month/4 weeks of your pregancy. how exciting for you guys. the good news is, that once you get pregnant you''ve got 9 months to really get used to the idea, so it''s not like, you get pregnant and then have a baby to be soley responsible for 2 weeks later. You are you''re hubby will have gorgeous kids
1.gif

Thinking of you, Diver!!

Funny how so many preggos want peanut butter! Ah well, it's a good justification for all those Reeses I was eating
2.gif

OMG, njc -- I can only imagine how real it must be seeming for you now! I hope the little guy holds out for another week too, but if he can't wait till then to meet you in person, then how exciting is that?! Funny how we had no new births here for so many months, and now we've got so many coming up! Yay, babies! Oh, and as for concentrating at work ... puhleeeeese! I'm so checked out already, and I'm not even due for another 15 weeks!

JCrow, I agree with MrsS -- you and hubby are going to make some fine-lookin' babies! It IS scary to think about how life is going to change and honestly I don't think you're ever truly mentally prepared for it (I know we're not!), but if you guys are both on the same page with wanting it, then that's awesome
36.gif

Anyone have any good diaper bag recommendations? Specifically for two kids? The standard gold-star twins bag seems to be the Skip Hop Duo Double (which fits on double strollers), but at $80, it's kinda pricey and BRU doesn't carry the Double so I can't register for it. I see that BOB also makes one that fits on their strollers, but I worry that it may be too small inside to carry everything I'll need for two infants. For those of you that had two little ones in diapers at the same time, what did you use? Thanks!

Oh, and I forgot to mention yesterday that I had to read all this paperwork at the drs office and sign it saying that I understand all the risks associated with labor and delivery ... yikes. I was getting queasy just reading it! If there is one word I hate, it's ... episiotomy
32.gif
I'm sure at the time it's a relief to get if you need it, but OMG, the thought of it terrifies me.

thanks for putting me at ease a bit. yeh, 9 months is a bit of time to get used to the idea
2.gif
there's no turning back, though. ya know? eeks.
i don't think we'll ever feel completely ready, so we'll just have to go for it. i'm not getting any younger

edit: ellaila & mrssalvo, yall are too sweet!

Chrono, baby still had time to "engage." I just can''t believe it flipped. I did feel some huge/almost painful movements this past week so I wonder if that is when it happened. I think my uterus is running out of room b/c I have been measuring a week small my last two appointments. Thanks for the passport tips. I guess we will apply for baby''s within the first few months. What do you need to bring? Just the BC?

Njc, I HATE when my creativity feels like it is dried up. That happened to me in college. It was horrible. So far I''ve been okay. Can''t say I am motivated though
3.gif
. I am 90% sure I am BUYING my birth announcements. I found some cute ones. I just doubt I will have the time or engery. Funny, I wrote my first shower thank yous 24 hours after, a few days after my second, my third...well, I am lazy. I am hoping for a week. When I made my next docs appointment I was surprised october is less than 2 weeks away! Pretty soon we will be cheering you on and you will be meeting your little boy!

Jcrow, this Jan as in a few months or next as in 2009? Don''t be scared. Only rarely do I want to change my mind. Do you think it is too late? j/k! It is starting to feel really real now. My life is NEVER going to be the same! I stopped traveling around 28/29 weeks. It is "safe" to go longer but made me a little nervous. I like being close to my doctor. I''ve been on a bunch of trips during this pregnancy (both car and plane) and all have been fine.

Ella, no suggestion. I got a Vera Bradley based SOLEY on looks so I am not the best to ask
2.gif

As the baby prepares for the descent, you might measure a wee bit smaller, so it''s a good sign. It sure sounds like baby T flipped at that time. I''ve read that flipping can be very uncomfortable especially during the late stage as there just isn''t much room left for such manevours.

I think both parents have to be present for the passport application: you''ll both need to bring your SS cards and Driver''s license, and baby''s BC and SS card. I think that''s all the documentation you''ll need. Don''t forget your checkbook.
2.gif

Thanks Chrono. Do we need both parents to get baby''s SS card? I never changed my passport (it is in my maiden name). Wonder if I should just do both at the same time.

I am thinking one of those big movements was a flip. Makes sense. I feel like my belly shape changed too but my button still hasn''t popped. Maybe it won''t?!?
33.gif
I think maybe was laying ALL on my left side the other night. My belly was so mishapened and it felt so strange. I am sure I will miss feeling it once it is born. I feel like the kicks/pushes/punches are all baby''s way of telling me it is ok.

njc, I don''t remember shaking but yeah he was pushing down by my bikini line and under my ribs (where the head was). Even DH said it looked painful. My MIL would have freaked out if she saw. She was feeling my belly when they visited last and I told her to push harder (so the kicks were easier to feel) and she said she didn''t want to hurt the baby! Baby''s got LOTS of protection! Haha! I get tested for Strep B at my next appointment. I am kind of glad to have another internal since it has been awhile.

tacori - jan. as in this jan. coming up. as in a 2008 baby!!
32.gif
6.gif
23.gif

Tacori,
When I was at the hospital (both times), when I filled in the application for the BC, the hospital also sent it to the SS office for me. So I didn''t have to do anything except wait to receive both the SS and the BC. I think there is a box on the BC form where you check if you want to do the SS at the same time or to skip it.

tacori, they will automatically you sign the SS card paper work at the same time as the birth certificate, and they''ll both come in the mail..

ella, i used a petuniapicklebottom diaper bag that I used for both my girls. it was plenty big when i had both of them in diapers and had to carry along sippy cups etc. but they are pricey and don''t wash so they probably wouldn''t be the best choice. maybe diver can let you know when she gets back b/c she''ll have 2 in diapers for a while too..

I''m cheap. I used a small sized black travel bag (and a freebie one too) that had hand straps and a shoulder strap. The neutral colour means hubby will carry it plus it doesn''t look like a diaper bag so the manly part of him can accept that.
9.gif
It''s large enough for diapers (for 2), spare change of clothes, a large wipe box, plastic bags (to tie up soiled diapers), and space for milk, snacks, etc.

Announcements: If I can come up with a shell before the baby comes, I guess I will do them myself. I haven’t looked a ton, but I haven’t come across anything that knocked my socks off either. It’s almost the bedding problem again… most of the stuff is so cute-sy and that’s not me and DH.

Jcrow – I wish I was like Tacori and worked from home! Alas I am at the beck and call of the government as a lowly contractor! I do enjoy my job though and can work from home on occasions. Actually, if there is a gap between me coming back and us getting daycare, I will probably ask to do that. Also should be nice for when the baby is sick. That’s exciting you guys are starting to talk baby! Don’t feel bad about being freaked out… I have always been the one ready for kids, but the day DH said he was ready, I panicked!!!! Obviously I came back around, but I just think its funny that I flipped out. You have time to sort out all the emotions!

Ella – I honestly cant wait to see him. I cant get a picture of him in my head and its driving me nuts! I would have loved to get one of those 3-D u/s but figured since we peeked at the sex, his looks are our big surprise! Oh yes, and I have been checked out practically the whole time, but not having any ideas is really bad. Before I was ignoring work, now I just cant do it! The pitfalls of a creative job. I got a Skip Hop Dash… my mom thinks its too small… I have no clue, but also don’t want to carry a massive bag… we shall see! Skip Hop has good reviews in general though, but that sucks BRU doesn’t carry it. I ran into that problem with a couple things I wanted. I just decided to go out and buy them on my own.

Tacori – Ugh… I still have my thank yous to write. With DH in class tonight and tomorrow, hopefully I can get them done. This weekend will be 2 weeks… not the best, but not the worst I don’t think. Ha! I get such a kick out of it when the baby lays on one side or the other because its so obvious. I bet the big movements were the flip too. Shaking might not be the right word… wiggling? I don’t know, but it did HURT. I always have to tell people to push harder… DH was the best at the beginning… he would get mad at me for poking, but hes better now. Group B wasn’t that bad… uncomfortable, but VERY quick… better than a pap IMO.

Hey all!

Hehehe...to answer the question, no one but a couple of miscreants wanted to touch my a$$. A baby belly is rotund and cute. A preggo butt is just...well...lumpy.

jcrow, I am traveling to Oz at 6 weeks and the doc says it should be fine.

Diver, I am thinking of you this morning!

Tacori, that is AWESOME the baby has flipped. Most of them sure know what they''re supposed to do eh? Nature is a wonderful thing...

In some not-so-hot news this morning, I just got a call from TGuy...they laid him off today.
8.gif
It''s a small family owned company (the boss and 3 people) and everyone was let go except for the boss'' relation. Ah well, such is life! We''re gonna have to buckle down and budget...which is a good thing anyway. More than the money, I am more concerned TGuy and I are going to kill each other as we will both be home. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
6.gif

Life...gotta love it...always keeps you on your toes!

TGal,
Sorry to hear the bad news about TGuy. For us, we see everything as an opportunity (although some are more challenging than others). Most of the time, bad news can turn out better than expected. Hubby and I were both laid off within weeks of each other and I was 5 months pregnant at the time too. It turned out that he found a job that paid MUCH more and was more rewarding mentally, and I also found a job that was closer to home, paid more AND was a step up the ladder in terms of job title and responsibility. There''s a silver lining to be found and I''m sure you''ll both find it.

Chrono, thanks for the encouragement. I LIVE in silver linings!
2.gif
TGuy less so, but I guess my job is to spin this so he doesn''t feel awful. I have 4 golf lessons that I haven''t been able to take since the pregnancy and car accident. I will transfer those over to him so he can have some fun that''s already paid for. I also think this will be great for him to get out and get some exercise, since he''s always so tired after work.

He was getting irritable with his job anyway, so this is a great kick in the pants. We''ve been saving lots of money so we have quite the cushion and he will be able to collect unemployment.

He may not be able to find a job until the new year, as he is going home to Oz for a month and folks may not want to hire him. He may be getting a nice break from work! And the last time he was here looking for a job (right after he moved), he made breakfast and lunch everyday for me. Now that''s a perk I can live with! Hehehe.

Yay jcrow! More 2008 babies!

I agree with you though...it's super exciting and scary! I don't think anyone ever feels completely ready!

TGal, Sorry to hear the bad news. Hope TGuy has a better opportunity soon!

Aw, Tgal...Sorry about DH''s job. My hubby has his head on the chopping block now, too. I think it is a matter of weeks or months. Needless to say, the resume is shooting off right and left. I''ve found that these things always result in a better opportunity.

TGal, so sorry to hear about TGuy''s news. I hope you don''t kill each other at home and will keep my fingers crossed that he finds something new asap. And for what it''s worth, I would touch your butt!
emwink.gif

jcrow, yay!!! I agree that you will make beautiful babies! Can''t wait till you start officially trying. You''re in the right place to ask any questions--we have lots of firsthand experience here. And as you''ve already been told, you will be ok to fly at 6 months. I was 32 weeks when I took my last flight across country and it was fine. If you''re having a normal pregnancy, 36 weeks is the cut off.

Announcements - I ordered mine from tinyprints.com. They are pricey but I love them. They are from the "Simply Put by Ashley Woodman" collection. I mostly used them as thank yous because I felt like everybody already knew I had the baby because we called everyone and the word spread quickly. I also felt like a gift grubber if I sent them to people who already knew so they were great as thank yous for the ridiculous amount of gifts we got!

ellaila, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Fleurville diaper bag. It is definitely expensive but I love it. I got the sling tote but for twins you might want the mothership. They are super roomy and stylish and come with these great rubber o-rings that you can use to attach the bag to the stroller. I love mine. I also have a Skip Hop Dash in pink camo and while it''s adorable, it''s not roomy at all. I pretty much just use it for overnight trips to my parents house and basically just put Lily''s clothes in it. It''s like her suitcase!

Can''t wait for Diver to come back with her good news and hopefully some lovely photos of Miss Delaney. Hope it is all going smoothly!!

So sorry about TGuy''s job, TGal! At least you don''t have to worry about finances, which is a huge relief. So this doesn''t really seem like it''s too too bad a thing to happen -- like you said, it''s probably a good kick in the pants for him to get a job that makes him happier anyway. And if he''s home for a while and you''re working AND creating organs, then I definitely think you get to be exempt from a lot of household chores, so like you said, there may be some perks here after all.

Chrono, so glad thigns turned out *better* with both your and DH''s job! I can''t imagine how stressful that had to be at the time though ...

Miranda, hope things work out for the best with your DH''s situation, too!

I''d love either a Petunia Picklebottom or a Fleurville, but neither fits into our budget (and I use that word so loosely, it''s not even funny). With having to buy double of so many of the necessities (bedding sets, clothes, diapers, bottles, car seats, etc.), we just can''t really be splurging on the luxury items, you know? I did get a bag from PB last week (on sale for $30), and it''s kind of a cool bag, but I think it''s way small for what I''m really going to be carrying around with me. So I think the Skip Hop Double is the best candidate. And it comes in some cute fabrics, too, so at least I won''t feel so utterly *practical* by carrying it!
