Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Amber such a cute fairytale/woodlands decal. That will be so cute over her crib. And I like the first prints a la PBK inspiration. I can''t wait to see your final result in the nursery! Sorry PJ is hurting mama. I wonder if her scraping movements could cause pinkish from your cervix. We''re getting so close! 1 month till due date!!!

And I''m doing great besides the whole moving stress, thanks. just realizing how big this belly is getting. Everyone comments how big I''m getting, but from my view up top it doesn''t see SO big...

Hi to everyone else
35.gif
I''m so sorry I''ve been bad in commenting to everyone. Life is hectic, please forgive

ummm i just realized we haven''t heard from viz today right???

I hope Viz is in labor! I, unfortunately, am not, just experienced a little insomnia.

So, last night I ate spicy food, so now I''ve tried that, pineapple, DTD, walking 2 miles a day . . . Yesterday on our walk this funny guy asked when our baby was due, and we said tomorrow, and he said, "Lawd! Shouldn''t you be in bed?!" The walking last night did cause me moderate discomfort but no contractions, just a side-stitch type feeling in the front and cramps in the back. I thought maybe if I could keep it up real contractions would ensue, but it was just too uncomfortable.

Is it crazy that it never really occurred to me that my baby would be late? My brother and sister were both 10 days late, but I always figured that was due to inaccurate dating of when my mom got pregnant. My sister''s first baby was 2-3 days early, so was my friend''s who was born recently; my SIL''s first was a week early; everyone else seems to be induced/have a C/S early because of some complication. I seriously never thought I would be waiting around for my baby after her due date (which is today). Neither did DH. We have to admit this was a bit short-sighted of us.

Thanks for the work sympathy. Luckily I had created a "just for work" personal email address. I''m only going to check that occasionally from now on, and not until after work hours so that Mr. Sub has to figure things out on his own. I''m really glad I thought of that and am not having these emails come to my real personal email, which would just stress me out.

Swimmer, glad to hear the "easy" birth story. So your sub has been hired already? We had to wait until the month before I was due, for some dumb reason. Seniors at the end of the year would probably be a wash no matter how good the sub is . . .

Delivering Late: It''s my expectation that this kid isn''t coming on time. My husband was 3 weeks late (I''m sure pregnancy dating was off a bit, but not by that much and he was BIG, I was a week late) first babies usually are. I think having that in mind will be helpful as when I hit March 15 I don''t want to expect the kid to magically appear. I wish we didn''t use exacting due dates, I think a weekly timeframe would be better (i.e. due the week of January 12th).

Phoenix, hang in there. Good for you for being active.

Amber, love the fat owls.

I have some work decisions to make that I didn''t expect to come about. I have a part time job working for a socialization training program for children with autism. I was laid off as the state stopped funding and HR contacted me to see if I''d be interested in working for a different branch of the company part time. It''s something I could likely fit in with my husband''s schedule, so I''d be able to work and the baby could stay with him during those times. No child care needs along with the extra bit of money would be a huge plus but I''m not thrilled with how the branch I''ve been working for is being run since the transition has taken place and I''m not sure what the other branch''s organization is like, so that could be a big deterent. I could take the job and then decide in 5 months it''s not for me and move on with the baby as my reason. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

- walking, DTD, eating spicy foods, drinking my raspberry leaf tea, trying *not* to focus on baby being late. DH and my wedding anniversary is this monday - so i'm trying to distract myself by deciding where we should go to dinner on saturday. maybe if i make reservations somewhere fantastic baby will come ;) i'm also packing away my summer maternity clothes and my summer 'small' items when i get home from work. busy mind = not thinking about baby.

PG - do not think about work! i know i'm going to totally turn my mind off tomorrow... what will be will be ... and we'll just come back in february and clean up the mess
3.gif
. good luck PG on your apt today. i hope they send you to L&D ;)

i'm posting what will *hopefully* be my LAST BP.... ya never know - it worked for mandy... i have a m/w apt today - hopefully they will tell me something encouraging. i've still had ZERO labor signs. much more pressure 'down below' - and i can tell from the pic that i've dropped... although i've seen bellies much lower.. so i don't know. hoping for some good news today.

i was mentally prepared for baby to be late, but now i don't know if i *really* was. they tell you to be ready for baby at 37 weeks.... bleh... it just makes the next 4 that much harder. my life is suspended in jello... i'm ready to MOVE ON!

viz 40 weeks

sorry for the me-centric post

Oooooh, I hope Viz comes back with pictures from a hospital room! (ETA, just saw your post... sorry hon! You look hot though!
3.gif
)

I'm going to start asking around my family about due dates and their accuracy... hmmmm...

Kimberly- I'm sorry to hear about the lay-off. My mom worked for a state non-prof for a few years, adn it was always very stressful finding out how much you would be getting that year. She ws in charge of grant writing, so at least she had some kind of idea.
I hope the decision is easy for you. Is the travel distance anymore than what you are doing now? More hours?

Found out another lovely stat from my health screen yesterday... my personal bmp was 57!!! Have any of you found that your heart rate went down while pregnant??

I think my tummy might have popped a little bit last night! DH is so excited. I keep catching him staring at my stomach.
41.gif
There's that, and last night we saw some of DH's friends for the first time in over a month, and one of them, shared with me that he noticed I had put some weight on, and then remembered that I was pregnant. LOL. Uhhh, thanks.

Anyway, that is my update for the day. Not much has happened other than my 2 hour commute to work because people cannot drive in the rain.
11.gif

Hey, girls...just got back from a maternity clothes shopping trip. Thought it was about time since I''ve been wearing the same ones for about 20 weeks now
3.gif
. Anyway, went to Gap and LOVE their super soft tees. Got 3 in different colors because I loved the way they felt/looked. I couldn''t find any jeans that looked decent, so still looking for those. Then I went across to Motherhood. I will admit that I have not been in there this whole pregnancy b/c basically that was all that was around when I was pregnant with Andrew and their clothes were not the cutest, BUT they have come a long way in the last 5 years. Got a super comfy velour set for super cheap (pants were $14 and jacket was $19) and also got some cute dressy black pants for going out to nice places. So, does anyone have some great maternity jeans that they would suggest? My hips seem to be spreading quite a bit, so I can''t wear skinny jeans or low rise. Thanks! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Viz
Your belly had definitely dropped. Hope this is your last belly pic.

PG
Come on baby. Did you try baking again? Maybe something chocolate this time?

Being overdue
I was expecting that with Meena b/c I had no progress whatsoever since 36 weeks. At the 39 weeks appt, I was still no dilated and doc brought up induction if I go past due date. But Meena ended up 4 days early. But now I am worried that this baby will be late just to mess with me.

Strangers'' comments
I was at Starbucks, waiting for my drink. This guy came up to me and asked if I was pregnant. I said yes. Then he asked "are you married?". WTF. I answered yes and he said good. By this time, I really didn''t want to talk to him anymore. But he continued asking if I know the gender and if it''s my first, blah blah blah. I didn''t get weird comments from people last time, so this is like all new to me. Argh. Hope it doesn''t continue.

Well, we''re back home. I''m up to a "solid" 3 cm. now, which is where I thought I''d be because I felt more of the cervix radiating weirdness last night, which I felt right before I shot up from 0 to 2 cm.

The membrane stripping wasn''t bad at all. I was wondering if maybe she should have made it hurt more for proper effectiveness?
1.gif
She seemed pretty confident it would get things moving along today. Of course, that was three hours ago. We wandered down to the record store and bike store and had lunch at our favorite spot, so that was a 2 or 2.5 mile walk. Dumb me wore brand new Croc sandals today, which rubbed between the toes on one of my feet. Note to self: do not test out new shoes when trying to spontaneously induce labor at 40 weeks.

So . . . we''re going in tonight to have my water broken if nothing''s happened yet. It was just too tempting. My Bishop score is at least a 7 (and I don''t even know my cervix "position" or "consistency"; this is just based on the dilation, effacement, and station), and this way my doctor can deliver us (well, as long as the baby is born before noon tomorrow, but she seemed super confident she would be).

I don''t want to wind up with a C/S and wonder if waiting would have avoided it, but I also am just ready and think that the risks are as low as they can be based on my "favorable" cervix.

I don''t think I''ll have internet at the hospital other than DH''s blackberry, so don''t worry if there''s no update for a few days. I''ll keep you posted!

Good luck Phoenix!!!
36.gif

Viz~Hope your little guy makes his appearance soon!

Good luck Phoenix!!!

Aww I can feel my little monkey on my belly. I mean the knee or elbow was sticking out on my right side, and I can touch it. I love it.

Really quick before i forget: Do all asses go to Starbucks to harass pregnant women??

ETA: Good luck, Phoenix!!!

Steph~Did the Gap maternity you went to have jeans $20 off right now? They are online and I never had maternity jeans with T, but I think I may try some this time and should probably try them on.

Burk, they had some on clearance for $25, but they were either really small or really big. The other ones they had were $79 and didn''t fit me that well. I was all set to order the long and lean kind online, but I decided to go to Old Navy and just try theirs and I found a pair that was alright. It had the big panel, which I hate, but they made my butt look not so hideous, so I got them
1.gif
. I still might order that pair online though.

steph and burk, you guys should check out those pants i got from ON. i love them!!

phx... yay..how exciting!! good luck and can''t wait to hear the happy news.

i am in all day meetings today...and the nugget is kicking up a storm...probably in protest!! but i like the movements.

Good luck Phoenix and Viz!

Mara, I think I saw the ones you ordered in the store, but I will have to go back and look. I went after I picked Andrew up from school and he HATES shopping, so I told him I would just run in and out really quick after I tried on some jeans!

Haven''t posted in a few days:

37 weeks today!

Had a doctor''s appointment yesterday--I''m 1 cm dialated and the baby is head down and in position!

Good Luck PG and Viz!

I got a phonecall from my OB friend this afternoon - her daughter was born at 4.30am today at 38 weeks 4 days. She now owes me a drink!
31.gif

We had lunch on Tuesday and she was not very pleased, she''d seen her midwife that morning and was at -3 station, cervix long and closed with no dilation or effacement. However she''d also had a lot of tightenings that night and pinkish CM. She was convinced she''d be at least another two weeks - I put money on the baby arriving by Sunday.

By Tuesday evening contractions were every 15 minutes and she went to L&D at 7pm last night.

She said that she would have told any patient of hers that there was no chance of the baby arriving so soon. So, you just can''t itell when bebe decides that it''s time!

Thanks, meresal. I substitute teach and worked the other job part time. The extra income was nice. The questions you asked are the same ones I had for HR. It would involve providing in-home services to families w/ children who have autism so I''m not sure what the travel would look like, or the hours. That will all factor in to my decision.

Steph, I got jeans on sale at the Gap, but they aren''t w/i your parameters.

Hope all goes well, Phoenix.

PG- I hope everything is going well tonight!!
31.gif

Tao- Good to hear that baby is ready
3.gif

My day just got infinitaly better! I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with my pregnant sister in CA and I loved every minute of it! I love sharing everything pregnancy related with her, and it''s ven better that we are right in the same place! We are 14 years apart and have never had anything in common that we could really share being far in age and distance, and this is drawing us so close together. It''s incredible
9.gif

I hope everyone else is having a good evening. We have a cold front coming into Houston tonight, and it will be in the 50''s in the morning! I can''t wait!

sending labor vibes your way!

chinese calandar
all my friends swore by it. for us -- it was WRONG!

jcrow
yay for a great visit! i haven''t seen felt any hiccups yet, kind of hoping for them while GingerBaby is small enough that i can enjoy them without hurting!

november
jealous you got the h1n1, still nothing around here yet. i''m anxious because of all the exposure i have at the hospital. i keep hearing about pregnant women in the icus, all young, previously healthy. scary.

mp
i started feeling kicks or recognizing that what i was feeling were kicks much later than mara, but our little nugget seem destined to be a soccer player. i can definitely SEE alot of the kicks as they distort my belly. and he can definitely make the remote control wiggle and slide off my belly. it''s super cute! i did check and my placenta is posterior so it may be easier for me to see/feel thses than the ladies who have anterior placentas.

mara
lol on the chocolate! i do that too, as in when i eat something sweet, i become super alert waiting for the flurry of kicks and punches and wiggles to follow. it''s fun! yesterday hubbs and i were having an ice cream snack on the couch and i grabbed hubby''s hand to put on my tummy while GingerBaby went nutso for fifteen minutes or so and he got so excited and giddy, so cute =) oha nd the caffeine thing. i was never a huge daily coffee drinker (shicking for someone in medicine) but would have cup occ. and ditto on people going nuts when they see you preggo with a starbucks cup. i thought about writing in big bold letters around the cup "CHILL OUT. IT''S DECAF." just cuz it''s easier than explaining the ok for a little caffeine thing.

meresal
i didn''t believe my friend when she said her baby did that while in utero. then one day id decided to try it out while he was being active. i wouldn''t say flying, but we can make it wobble something fierce and occ enough to make it fall off. great party trick
3.gif
hubby got a REAL kick out of it and a few of my friends who''ve witnessed all got wide eyed and giggly. amazing what our little buggers can do already! and that''s sweet about you and your sister!

maternity pants
shockingly my faves have been from walmart! the slacks and pants are cut slimmer so the fit my bootyless booty and chicken legs better. and they''re $18 bucks a pop. the jeans are cute, but are a bit lose in butt and thigh for me also $18. and i have the utility pants and roll-up cargos similar to the oldnavy ones mara posted (again $18), but without the fancy jersey lining =(. but still SUPER comfy, look cute on and were cheap-O. trying to not spend too much on mat clothes.

amber
your nursery stuff is adorable! can''t wait to see the whole shebang!

qtiekiki
how obnoxious! haven''t gotten thiose yet thank goodness!!

as for me. nothing new. i had what in retropspect was a funnyish scare at work though. i was walking in the clinic and suddenly felt my foot was wet. i looked down and there was no puddle of pee or vomit that i stepped in (thank goodness!) but then i started panicking because if there''s no puddle why was my foot wet? was that from me? did my water break? oh holy sh!t, i dont''s feel contractions?! what''s onthe floor? there has to be a pudlle? omg, omg omg. it''s only 23 weeks. what is going on?!?! (my thought priocess as i was walking in frantic circles staring at the floor. one of the nurses finally saw me afterabout 30-45 seconds of pure panic and called out -- careful doc, we spilled some liquid nitrogen on the floor. whew. then i went on about my business, although hyper aware for movements.

wow long post.

Hello
35.gif

It feels awfully strange (in a very good way) to finally be able to pop on into this thread.

By way of background, I''ve been on PS a good long while and have spent the last 18-19 months trying to get knocked up. It was a long, trying time, especially since we really had no answers as to what caused the delay. The night that I saw that second line showed up was amazing and now we''re hoping everyday that our little poppy seed of a babe will stick around.

It feels a bit early to be poking my head in here being only 5 weeks along, and spotting.
14.gif
But so far, my beta numbers are growing like they should and I wanted to thank KimberlyH. Your comment was very kind and it is reassuring to know that you''ve been through a similar experience and still have a healthly little bundle thriving in there.

Hope to be around here for a while longer (as in 8 more months

UMMM PG!?!?!? good luck girlie!!!!! that's so exciting.. i can't wait to read an update!!

my baby is the lone hold-out. NO change yesterday

i felt like crying after my m/w checked me. we scheduled an induction for next wednesday if baby doesn't decide to come on his own. it feels sooo far away! i'm going to try and keep myself busy until then.... bleh! if i don't post much it's because i'm sulking - but i will update when the LO arrives. thanks for all of the labor vibes... hopefully they will work this weekend.

ETA!!! WELCOME LULU!!!!!!!! so glad to see you over on this thread! you were always so kind to me when i was ttc. what a journey you have been on - congratulations!

Hey ladies - just wanted to stop by and say -

Congrats Mandarine!!! Your sons are just precious. I hope you are doing well and getting some sleep!

PG and Viz - Good luck to both of you! Easy labor vibes going your way! Yay!!! can't wait to see pics!

ETA Viz - I totally feel you on the sulking. I went at 39w6d...and I got so sick of people emailing and calling to see if I had the baby. And the WORST was people telling me they couldn't wait to meet the baby. I know they meant well, but I was just like, trust me, I want him out and to meet him WAY more than you...Argh. I get annoyed just thinking about it!

AND WELCOME LULU! So many millions of sticky vibes going your way. And I wanted to let you know that I spotted like crazy. I had 4 ultrasounds in my first trimester due to spotting and bleeding. I had spotting right around 5 weeks and one other time during the first trimester and once towards the end of my second trimester. I also had serious bleeding on two occasions during the first trimester. Like had to wear a pad bleeding. Docs could never find the reason, and based on the ultrasounds, it didn't impact Calvin at all. He's 7 weeks old today, and sleeping in his lamb swing right now!

Oh, and here is an updated pic of my little guy. Excuse the less than stellar quality, it was taken with my sister's cell phone...He's a smiley fellow. And the smiles just KILL me!

smiling baby calvin.jpg

lovelylulu - yay!! welcome + congrats. sending you lots of sticky vibes :]

littlelysser - aw, he's a cutie!

So glad to see you here, lovely. No need to thank me, I''m glad it made you feel a bit bettter to know someone else has been there. I found, in talking about miscarrying with coworkers, friends, and famiily -- which was very difficult for me to do as no one knew I was pregnant, except my husband, until after I started having complications and I never told my family I was pregnant the first time, I shared that I had miscarried with my mom this time around as she was struggling with my hesitation to share the news -- that it is much more common than we are aware of and it was helpful to me to know I was not alone, because it certainly was a lonely experience. I remember walking down the street shortly after it happened and my husband stopped me, counted out five women and reminded me that at least one of them had miscarriaged too; then he pointed out that most of them had children with them as a reminder that it didn''t mean it wasn''t possible to concieve a healthy baby. It''s taken some time for me to connect pregnancy=baby, and sometimes I still find myself forgetting that at the end of this we''re going to have another member of our family, but then I get a little kick, or my husband makes some silly comment about parenting, or a friend rubs my stomach and I''m reminded that we really are going to have a child. Again, I''m so glad to see you here, I know it''s been a long hard road for you.

Sticky, sticky, sticky vibes for you, lulu! I''m sure all will be fine - I spotted at around 4-5 weeks, and was told it was likely implantation bleeding. Betas numbers don''t lie!
9.gif

Good morning all!

Viz: hopefully now that you''ve scheduled your induction he''ll want to come out on his own. I had read somewhere that boys are more likely to be overdue, I wonder if that''s true?

Lysser: Look at that smile!! What a cutie pie!

Lulu: very, very hearty welcome. I''ll continue to keep you in my prayers for this baby to stick super hard.

Hey, girls....here is my 26 week pic. Wearing my new Old Navy jeans and super soft T from Gap Maternity. So glad I got this in 3 different colors....it is super soft and comfy if anybody's looking for weekend type wear (only $19 each)! Hope everyone has a great day and can't wait to see the other belly pics!
