Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Kim
Congrats on your new house.

mtjoya
Yeah the MP will continue to come out. I wouldn''t worry too much unless there''s blood.

RPS
That''s nice that your MW use the latest EDD, so you can have a homebirth.
Your description of MP is so right on. Kind of gross but also hilarious.

meresal
Good luck on your glucose test.

Mara
You are ready for labor with all those appointments out of the way. I should probably get my hair cut shorter, but I''ll wait until after the baby is here.
Hope you get rid of the cold before labor.
SoCal is getting hit hard with rains too. DH kept saying the baby needs to wait until this weekend, so we don''t have to go to the hospital in the rain. hehe.

Today had been very mellow. No crampings. I''ll have my 39 weeks appt tomorrow. Dr. told me last week that he is ok with scheduling an induction any time past 39 weeks, but I don''t want that. I''ve been watching baby story, and is getting anxious to meet the little guy.

I''ve been having sex dreams for the past two nights with that guy from the new Bachelor - Jake. I was actually sad when I woke up this morning and realized that it was just a dream. It was especially depressing because I woke up to my 28 week pregnant and bloated body, instead of my old, trim body that I was sporting in the dream. It was also embarrassing because if I had a choice, I would have much preferred to have a sex dream with Don Draper from Mad Men instead of the cheesy Bachelor - so lame
emembarrassed.gif

Lol welcome to the club! I have had the most embarrassing sex dreams ever since being PG, with people I really am not interested in IRL lol. My husband gets a kick out of it, but I blame him for them all - he is afraid of sending me into early labor so I haven''t had any sexy time for a couple months!
7.gif

LOL...on the sex dreams. I have some crazy ones too! That''s probably the most action that I''ve had these past couple of months, since hubby says no-no cuz he is scared!
20.gif

I am on the same boat as you MP! None in months.
14.gif
LOL..I feel weird saying that but it''s the truth. He says that he is afraid that it''s going to hurt the baby and that it''s weird because she might be "aware." Okay.....

I am so stoked this day is almost over - I have my 30 week ultrasound tomorrow, YAY!

LOL...yea! Yay! on your 30 week US. I love them! Have u done the 4D?

That''s so funny, you guys. My husband felt the same during the first pregnancy - I didn''t show until I was about 5 months, and after that, he didn''t want to touch me. I think that it was two things - first, he was freaked out about a baby being in there, and I also think that he didn''t find me as attractive. This time around, I had read some interview with Angelina Jolie where she said that Brad Pitt found her so much more attractive while she was pregnant, and I started crying to my husband about how it really made me feel bad about myself that he''s not attracted to me while I''m pregnant. He''s definitely made more of an effort this time at intimacy and giving me compliments, but I can tell the whole thing still sort of weirds him out. On second thought, maybe I will start telling him about my crazy sex dreams. Maybe a little jealousy will help ... The thing is, he leaves for work about two hours before I get up in the morning, so I don''t have a chance to tell him about it when it''s still fresh in my mind ...

MonkeyPie, good luck on your ultrasound tomorrow!!!

lol you gals re: the sex dreams...vesper, i totally agree re: having dreams and in the dream you are like your old self and i wake up and it takes me like 30 seconds to realize i am still pregnant...WAH! in terms of action...then i think WELL it doesn't even matter cuz it wouldn't be LIKE THE DREAM anyway so whats the point. that said, we are trying all the ways recommended to try to get the kid out, including DTD, which Greg is totally on board with (me with my belly not so much). but yeah, def not the same!! can't wait to be 'normal' again. i am a SCORPIO after all!
3.gif

i have to say i have been impressed with my hub since being preggo since he is mostly very complimentary to me about how i look...and he always said how he never really found preggos attractive so i thought for sure i wouldn't be appealing to him, but that is totally not the case. i don't know if it's like that primal male ego thing (aka you are carrying my child) or what but it's interesting!

MP yay for the big US tomorrow.

is anyone else getting the 3D/4D pics? i want to see some!!!

i had lunch today with 2 other preggo friends. we took a belly shot of just our 3 bellies. three boys! we joke we have a mini baseball team starting. its crazy i have so many preggo friends at the same time. my other friend has 5 showers in the months of jan and feb alone!

i also returned a few duplicate gifts to BRU and took advantage of their 'clearance buy one get one 99 cents' and got 6 '12-18 month' clothing items for like $20. yay i love great deals!

LOL...yea. I am glad that I am not the only one out there! I ask him if he thinks that I am fat and ugly. He just smiles and says of course not and kisses my belly. He calls me spider legs, it''s gross but he calls me that because when the doc does the US he pulls on my undies and last time u could see some ...hair and he said that it looked like spider legs. Yeah, sorry TMI.. but I think it''s funny!

Hi ladies
35.gif
I know that I haven''t been posting often but I have definitely been keeping up with this thread nearly every day! Things have been crazy around here, but have overall been going well. I will be 19 weeks on Saturday which is hard to believe. Our little one is a boy for sure, thanks to the anatomy scan that we had last week. The technician took 99 images looking at all of the organs, the cord, blood flow, etc. The little guy wasn''t showing any signs of anemia yet which is good, and I go for another doppler flow ultrasound tomorrow to make sure he still isn''t becoming anemic.

If you''re having an amnio anytime soon, don''t worry because it is such a breeze. I heard so many different stories, so thanks to Mara for sharing and making me feel better about it when I was so nervous! The doctor didn''t numb me up and it didn''t hurt at all -- when the needle got to my uterus it was very uncomfortable, but not super painful or anything. Just uncomfortable. Honestly getting an IV put in every weekend has been much more painful than the amnio needle. So if you''ve ever had an IV put in, I thought that the amnio was much easier. Just don''t look at the needle
1.gif

So the amnio was last Wednesday and they sent some of my sample to a DNA lab in Wisconsin, and I should get the Rh results 7-10 business days after the test. I guess that my nurse is impatient and called the lab asking for my results yesterday, they said to expect them next week. Boooo!
14.gif
So I have another round of IViG this weekend since we don''t know if the kiddo is Rh+ or Rh- yet. The good news is that I found out today after some initial fighting that my insurance is going to cover my IViG therapy at 100%. Which is good because my treatments tally up to $50k so far, and this weekend will be another $10k. So now we won''t have to sell the baby when he gets here

Anyone else thinking about names? In the beginning it was difficult... but then just like with my daughter, HIS name came to me, after so much flipping and flopping earlier. And I knew it was his name and was just at peace with that... his name is Andrew
1.gif
So it is hard to believe I have two kiddos... Natalie and Andrew... one who is not here with me, and the other who will hopefully be in my arms in another 17 weeks or so.

Lulu I saw somewhere that you are finding out the sex in a couple of weeks... can''t wait to hear!

Re: thinking about names

Aren''t we all?? Or is it just me who had 2 girls names and 2 boys names even before I was preggo???

My top boy and girl name:

Levi Joseph (possibly Alan as a middle, trying to use family names)
Lily Marie (DH wants Eva Marie, oddly Marie hasn''t been used in my family for several generations--also considering Grace for a middle name)

Our last name is a bit difficult to work with so we have to go with strong, classic names, nothing too frilly or modern.

Thanks DrK, that is a great suggestion, i will do just that.

Lulu, (so excited to find out what you are having) I''m at 25 weeks and still not feeling almost anything. My placenta is anterior and really low, but still the docs were certain that I should feel something...I don''t have much bodyfat to dampen the sensation of a person in there, so still not sure what is up. My secretary didn''t feel her first till 8 months and then not much at all, so that gives me some hope that the little man is doing fine.

Lindsey, oh how agonizing to wait. Andrew is perfection.

kim - yay for the house!! so exciting!

SoExcited - congrats on team blue. seems like it''s still boy season
37.gif

--

so, last weekend we visited hubs parents. they have a really tight knit group of friends that live all around texas, plus a couple that live in louisiana. well, the couple that lives in louisiana, their daughter is expecting a baby at the end of may. hubs parents said that they really wanted to plan a shower for her and got to thinking it would be wonderful to do a joint shower for the two of us.
36.gif
if it pans out it will be a super laid back co-ed shower and i''m really excited.
36.gif

in other news, today was the first time someone told me congratulations without me saying i was pregnant. and it was a man. we were ordering at a restaurant and he was like, is this your first? and we both said yes and he said congratulations :]

then, at the next place we went, a girl said how cute my belly is. totally-made-my-month. haha. she''s the first person other than hub + his family to say anything like that. and she was a random stranger.

oh, and an ex-coworker asked me today what colors our nursery will be. she wants to knit us a blankie for the baby. she does incredible work so i''m excited!! unfortunately, since we don''t know what we''re doing about our living situation, it makes it hard for me to plan out a nursery
40.gif
. i''m thinking putty, pale pink and white maybe. but that ALL could change. i do know our furniture will be dark brown since we''ll be able to use our existing bookcase + dresser + nightstand that''s in our guest room. we have a desk and chair and full size bed that we matches too once the baby gets older.

so excited - yay for team blue!!! we had 3 boy names and 3 girl names picked out way in advance also
5.gif

lindsey - glad the amnio went smoothly. and yay for 100% coverage!!

mp - me neither... i was excited when the u/s confirmed it was posterior, although sometimes this late inthe game and gingerbaby decides to let loos a couple roundhouses, i have had thoughts that a little more cushioning up front wouldn''t be so bad
9.gif
. sorry for the stress at work, that is so aggravating!

mer - good luck on the glucola!

mtj - i''m due 2 days before you and no MP no BHs nothing! i know it''s early to worry, but i REALLY don''t want to have to induce and i''m freaked that i have NO signs of progress.

jcrow - i like your color scheme! we have expresso and black furniture throughout the house, and the baby''s furniture is the same. our color scheme is expresso and ivory, with sage accents and touches of blue here and there.

37 week u/s tomorrow
36.gif
! i REALLY hope i show some progress towards d-day during my exam tomorrow.

lindsay, i hope the amnio results are great and YAY for 100% coverage, that is wonderful. i can't imagine having that kind of bill without coverage, wow!

jcrow, i like your color palette ... but you can also just tell the gal to make something that is general in color that will work with more colors. my mom made me a bunch of blankets and i tried to have her just do one color or two colors. our room is green, yellow, white, blue and browns and she made me a tan and brown reversible blanket...a green and cream blanket...etc. and greg's mom made us a thick tan scalloped blanket that i really like the color of...it works with everything.

speaking of COLORS, has anyone else posted their nursery pics in the nursery thread??!?! i want to see some photos ladies... and GINGERB dont think i am forgetting we have not seen ONE BELLY SHOT of you this entire pregnancy!!! SO not fair! cut the head off if you will but i wanna see some belly.
3.gif

re: baby names, it's actually something we were having a hard time with but as it gets closer we are having to make some decisions hehe. we have a few contenders and we'll see what he looks like when we meet him. i know some people just have their name for their baby ahead of time but i have the hardest time imagining him so i want to make sure he LOOKS like that for us.
5.gif
thankfully greg agrees hehe.

ginger, yay for the US tomorrow!! at my 36 week i was already effacing but yesterday not much progress so you never know sheesh.

speaking of progress, little snake baby is crazy on the cervix in the last 24 hours, moreso than usual. i am hoping that means he wants out out out over the wkd. the sharp knife cervix pains are horrible... is anyone else in my week getting those all the time too? it makes me draw in my breath pretty sharply.

re: the cold, i did like 2 things today but i am sooo tired. i really hope that i can sleep more tonite. obviously 7 hours a night is not enough to kick this stupid thing.

ETA...i keep meaning to post about this and forgetting. re PERTUSSIS. in our newborn class last week they told us to make sure that people who visit the baby have their flu and pertussis shots. pertussis is not something we hear too much about and this was the first time they had mentioned it. but i also saw something about this posted in FHH a few weeks ago, a 5 week old baby dying of pertussis. the babies can't be vaccinated until 8 weeks. so i asked my dr about it. greg and i have both had our tetanus updates in the last 1-2 years which also gives you the TDAP booster for pertussis. so we are covered. but a lot of people may not be up to date on their pertussis. if you are preggo you can't get the pertussis vacc til you give birth, but you can get it in the hospital afterwards. i would try to make sure as many people as possible who will come in contact with your little ones within the first 8 weeks get their booster shot, and apparently them getting it is RARE, but it does happen and we have had a resurgence of pertussis/whopping cough in the last few years.

personally i was irritated we hadn't heard about this before from the hospital or anyone and now we have like a week or so to make sure that my mom and anyone else who is going to be handling and helping with the baby gets their shot. so def look into it!

Ginger-Don''t worry, you won''t be induced. Everything will come together all at once.
2.gif
I am scared of the thought of being induced but that MP crap kinda freaked me out. I always look when I go potty in case I see blood. The nurse told me to not worry but I will slowly see some more MP, bleh. Another nurse told me to take it easy and try to keep her in there around week. So, I was a couch potatoe all day and am sad that I didn''t get to do any cleaning. I am feeling good right now but I want her to make her appearance after my baby shower. My mom is throwing one on Jan 30th!

Re: Work - Are any of you ladies still working? I am working and next wednesday I will be 37 weeks. EVERYONE asks why I am still at work. Any comments on this? My last day is Feb 3th.

MP, am I hallucinating or did you have an appt yesterday? how did it go?

We''ve had 2 girl and 2 boy names picked out since before we were preggo too. It''s to cover the bases if we end up with twins, lol.

Girl: Katherine Fenn and Grace Campbell
Boy: Jack Henry and Aidan Campbell

Funny amnio story-my mom had amnios with all three kids, I guess they were more common in the 70s-80s than they are now. Anyway, with mine the doctor poked me in the foot on accident and I was born with a clear scar from it. Its this little raised knot of skin on the inside of my right ankle.

Mara, scary! Is pertussis the whooping cough?

Pertussis is Whooping Cough. American''s receive a vaccine that is DTP, Diptheria, Tetanus and Pertussis. Unless you know someone who is NOT vaccinating their kids, you should be fine.

Good morning, ladies! Not much new happening here, but I do think labor is getting closer. Yesterday, I had contractions for about 90 minutes, but they didn''t get more painful or closer together so I went back to ignoring them. Last evening, my younger daughter had gymnastics, so we did the usual drop her off, run to pick up Will, then return to watch Kate. I was sitting there for about 10 minutes feeling "off" but I couldn''t really figure out what was wrong. Suddenly, I got really COLD and felt like the flu had just hit me out of the blue. I told SO I thought it would be best if we leave, so we had to pull poor Kate out of there -- she said it was ok since she is less than enthused about doing the balance beam, LOL. Now, it was 35 degrees outside and I was only wearing a long sleeve shirt and sweater because I''ve been running so hot, but it was if I had just been released from a deep freeze! I was shaking from being so cold and I lost feeling in my fingertips like I tend to do when I''m out in extremely cold weather. I came home and got in a warm shower for a while, then wrapped up in SO''s robe and some blankets. About an hour later, I felt somewhat normal again. I have NO idea what that was all about! I''ve never had it happen to me before. The baby was moving the whole time, so I wasn''t too worried about him -- my biggest fear was that I had caught some sort of horrible flu and would go into labor sick as a dog. After a good night''s sleep, I''m back to feeling like I usually do. Weird.

Yay for Friday!!

36.gif
Except I thought I''d be coasting at work and now I have a bunch of stuff to do for this customer that wants training next week. Argh. Oh, well, I guess it keeps me from being bored, so that''s a good thing.

Ginger, congrats on 37 weeks! I hope your u/s goes well! Don''t worry too much about growing out of your shoes -- I stayed a 7.5/8 through FOUR kids, even though at the end of each pregnancy, I couldn''t fit my feet in my regular shoes. I did eventually go up to 8/8.5, but since that happened with 5 when I was 38, I think it''s more an age thing than anything. Well, that and comfort -- as I get older, I''m less concerned with wearing hot, sexy shoes than I am with comfy ones, lol. I''ve even started drooling over Dansko clogs, which my older daughter thinks are the ugliest things ever, but I hear that they''re so comfy that they''re well worth the price. I''m gonna be getting me some!

MP, oh, that has to be so annoying to be training someone that doesn''t seem to believe you! Maybe she''s scared of screwing up while you''re gone and not available? One of the reasons I''m only taking a few days off after the baby''s born is because I know there''s no one else in our company that could (or wants to) take over my job and training a temp would take forever. It would be different if I had to be in the office. I''d be super stressed trying to train someone to do my work in a short amount of time. I hope things get better for you!

Mara, sounds like your house has the best of both worlds (new and old!). There are some things from new houses that I would absolutely kill for -- around here, it''s standard for the master bath to have a jacuzzi tub. Yeah, I could handle that!! But then again, I *love* clawfoots. We have a farmhouse out in the boonies that''s a little over 150 years old and SO has been working on and off for 4 years to update it. The old cabinets were horrendous. Actually, the whole kitchen was horrendous. He installed new plain white cabinets and we got new countertops that are black with speckles -- it looks amazing. He''s also totally updated the bathrooms (no jacuzzi tub, though). We don''t know if we''ll end up selling it or keeping it for a vacation place, but either way, the work had to be done. No one could have lived there the way it was.

As for early eviction/big babies, I know it''s easy for me to say, but don''t worry about baby''s size! It''s very rare to grow a baby you can''t birth. Some larger women have trouble with 6 lbers while there are teeny women that push out 9-10 lbers without breaking a sweat. A friend of mine had a baby that was a bit over 12 lbs! Head size is a lot more important than just weight because if you have a baby with a normal head size who''s just heavy, fat squishes. Even head size isn''t an indicator of a problem because a baby''s head molds during birth. My youngest''s head was 14.5", which is on the large side and it took some work on my part to get him out, but still, I was only pushing for 20 minutes and his head was pretty round. If pushing had taken longer, he probably would have had a cone head and pushing would have been much easier, but I couldn''t resist that urge.

My biggest worry about inducing early is that we really don''t know what all goes on during those last weeks. Even though a lot of people consider 39/40 weeks "done," there''s still a lot of brain development happening. I worry that if my baby was meant to cook for 42 weeks and I agree to induction at 39 weeks, I''m forcing him to be born 3 weeks early, not one.

I hope that you''re staying safe out there in CA. It looks horrible on the news!

Re: Cervix pains...OMG, yes, I HATE THEM. It''s especially bad when the baby insists on scraping and scraping for several minutes while I''m writhing around trying to make him move away.

Lindsey, I''m so glad that your amnio went smoothly. My fingers are crossed for good results! I''m so glad to hear that your insurance covers the IViG, too. I don''t know very much about the Rh factor, so the things you post are really interesting. You may not need to sell your baby, but you have something great to hold over his head when he''s a mouthy teenager, LOL!

SS, I *love* the name Levi. It was on my list, but no one else liked it, so I withdrew it. Lily Marie or Lily Grace is very pretty for a girl -- I am kind of partial to Grace as that''s my younger daughter''s middle name. It''s really popular, but it''s such a great name that I didn''t care. Of course, I think I jinxed her by giving her that name because she runs into everything!

MTJ, I''m still working. =) But...I work for a really small company and work at home, so it''s much easier than if I had to go to an office every day. Plus, my boss'' wife just had a baby on Saturday so he''s super understanding. I honestly think if I were off work, I''d be losing my mind from boredom.

HH, love the names you''ve picked! My younger daughter is Kathryn Grace, named for my grandmother, and I like the name because it''s simply a classic. I also love the name Jack for a boy for the same reason, but we have a cat named Jack, so that might get confusing in our house.

Happy Friday. I'll try to remember to take a picture today.

RPS, what a strange feeling! Hope this is it! I'm looking forward to a smaller house. I prefer smaller (it's not a small house but it is compared to our current house) and cozy. Looking forward to making it home.

SS, love both names you've picked.

Jcrow, I'd pick a neutral color for the blanket, like cream, so it fits in whatever you decide.

Lindsay, fingers crossed for the RH results.

Thanks for all the happy house congratulations. We're really excited.

I love your spelling of Kathryn, mind if I steal it?? The middle names are all family names, but I feel like they go really well with the first names we''ve chosen. I''m torn between Jack and Aidan. We''re Scottish so I''m really drawn to the celtic names, but Aidan is SO popular. Then again so are Jack, Katherine and Grace. **sigh** I just don''t know. DH and I have a wager that whoever guesses the correct sex gets to choose the name out of our list, so I could get my way or I could end up with Aidan (which I''m not against necessarily)

Glucose test went great. No results yet obviously, but it was really quick. Only gained 6 lbs this past month, so the doctor is happy with that. (It was an afternoon appt, so I assume that my actual gain was around 4 lbs.)

My doctor made a funny comment as she was measuring my stomach, she was pushing down rather hard, and when she stepped back she said, "Well, I see that your abdominal muscles haven't given up hope yet."
9.gif
Apparently they are still over the top of my stomach. She said they should let go and move to the side by the next appt, but that is probably what is attributing to the pains in my pelvis. No problem with it, and when they move (if they move), my stomach will more than likely show much more.

Since it was a GROGEOUS day here and in the 80's, I took the rest of the day off and spent my afternoon running lots of errands. It was so nice to be out and about in the city again.

Happy BPF everyone! I will post my updated pic here in a few... I need to go take it!

Lindsey- Thanks for the update... and fingers crossed for the amnio results. I can't believe you are already 19 weeks! I love the name Andrew, it sounds beautiful!
Mara- I hope that you are feeling better!
Hudson- The names that you all have chosen are gorgeous. They are so classic.
5.gif

Jcrow- What a nice gift! I love hand knitted blankets. We have tons at my parents, and I still use the one that is from my birth, that my grandmother kitted. (It is full size... not baby size
3.gif
)
RPS- Here's to hoping that labor is jsut aroudn the corner! Can't wait to meet your new addition!

Re: Names: This was probably the very first thing we decided on. We will be naming our son, Christopher Allen.

oh i love the name kathryn. spelled like that too. it''s on our name list. and it''s a family name. i like the nicknames for it - katie, kate. however, no one in my family really has a long first name that could be shortened for a nickname. i take that back, my mom does. but that''s it.
