Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Blushing
OMG, I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw the update in the Preggo in Waiting list!
It''s funny, but I was just going through your last thread the last couple of days and was wondering if you had any news,
so you can imagine my amazement when I see your name pop up in the Preggo in Waiting list.
Congrats and congrats to your 2 little beans.
I''m extremely happy for you and your hubby.

Congrats to the new preggos allie, ambulance, coralquiz, and snlee!!
Most of you ladies are almost to the second trimester

Lots of sticky dust!
And hoping a peaceful and uneventful pregnancy to everyone.

blushing, oh my goodness, i thought you were MIA for good! So happy to hear the news...I had an *inkiling* maybe that's why you disappeared, but happy to have it confirmed. And 2????? Twins?? Oh my the PS water continues to have its effect! If I read/interpret things correctly it was the good ole fashioned way, so really it's incredible how many twins we have here!

CONGRATULATIONS BB and welcome back!

BLUSHING!

I am SO happy for you. TWINS! Amazing. Congratulations again, lady!

Oh CONGRATS Blushing! That is so exciting to see you back and with TWINS! It's a wild ride for sure and you will be exhausted but it's totally worth it.

I would expect to deliver by 36 weeks. The vast majority of twin pregnancies do not go full term, and if you end up with a c-section which is likely, you'll be delivering no later than 38 weeks for most doctors. So prepare for 36 weeks to be sure you have everything done by then! At least half of twin pregnancies deliver before 36 weeks so just be prepared before then with carseats, etc. so you don't have to send DH to go get them before you leave the hospital. But I will be sending you lots of "stay put" vibes!

Even if I don't post I lurk in these threads occasionally so feel free to ask any questions you have.

Such happy news! I am excited to see another set of PS twins too. I''m 11 weeks today so we''re about a week apart! I know it''s been a long road for you and I''m so excited to share this journey with you! I hope you post more often now.
Snlee!!! It has been a loooong road! You started TTC at least a good 6 months before I did for your first and here you are on baby number 2!!!! I''m so glad we can go through this together and congrats on having one more week in your first trimester!!!!

blushing! I'd been hoping you would reappear one day with good news! And what doubly good news!! I'm 13.5 weeks so just a touch ahead of you, but with the twins we're probably pretty close on expected due date! How exciting! So, if I read correctly, these are spontaneous twins but how do you know they are fraternal? Just separate sacs or have you had testing? Either way what GREAT GREAT news for you and your husband!

Shiny, congrats on the GIRL!

Congrats ambulance! what an awesome due date! Now just tell that little one you expect a punctual arrival to the world.

Allie, weeks 6-10 were the worst. I started getting bursts of energy/feeling good around 10-11 weeks, but could still get hit by preggo-coma in retaliation for doing too much. I think I took a nap on the floor of the airport in the middle of the afternoon at 11 weeks after a full night's sleep- like, must sleep now and not care about consequences or sleeping surface, etc. You'll get thru, just hang in there.

OK, hubs and I have each told one parent. They are excited! Whew, we're getting there. I'm definitely feeling better mood-wise and the nausea is usually dealable though not gone. I'm also definitely showing - like, showing enough that I think most observant people that have seen me recently will not be surprised. Tried to tell my boss last week before our retreat, but didn't get a meeting in and after seeing myself on video this weekend (for a speaking style evaluation) I was like - whoa! I look preggo - so I'm feeling a little bit like Katherine Heigl in Knocked Up who goes in to tell her bosses when she's like 7 months preggo and got a huge belly. Well, I'm not quite 7 mo obvious but its definitely noticeable...

Oh man...am I exhausted. Like way more than I have been in weeks past. I thought it was supposed to get better not worse? Has tiredness gotten worse for some of you around the 9th week?

allie, I hate to say it, but I think that''s the time that my *bad* symptoms just got going. Hang in there and know that it''s only a finite time!!

Ditto - though I hope not for you! (The only bad thing I had before then was morning sickness.) The tiredness never fully lifted for me in the 2nd trimester like it does for most people, either. And now that I am near the end it is ten times worse. I wilt around 2pm like HH said and just never perk back up again.

Thank you everyone!!!! I know – what a comeback right!!!??? I was seriously hoping I didn’t lose my “thread-cred” (as Mela once said back in the day
9.gif
)!

I truly missed every single one of you and you were all never far from my mind. I’ve been itching to come back ever since I found out I was pregnant in February, but wanted to wait until I was in a good place with this pregnancy. I had an ultrasound last week at 9 weeks and both babies were right on track for development. I am still nervous wreck every time I go to the bathroom (and probably always be), but as DH says, whatever will be, will be and it’s out of control.

So many feelings and emotions are running through my mind, but the most important one is that we are THRILLED beyond words and are truly blessed!!!!!

(Mandarine, Peony, Neatfreak NYbrkgirl, I think I’ll be reading your posts from start to finish
2.gif
)

Somethingshiny - my doctor said that w/ twins I am more likely to carry until around 37 weeks, so I could deliver in September. However, I do know a twin mommy who carried all the way up until 40 weeks so, I guess anything is possible!
Congrats Blushing, I am thrilled for you!

And yes, anything is possible. Stay positive! My friend carried her triplets to nearly 36 weeks (average birth is 28-32 weeks) and she is about 5''2'' and tiny. Her sister (nearly same physique) carried her twins to 39 weeks.

Here''s to a long baking for your babies!
Awe, thanks T-gal!!!!
9.gif
Was the friend of yours who had triplets your IVF friend? How is she doing with the three babies? I''m hoping they stay in for the long haul, but will definitely plan for an earlier delievery!

Blushing, maybe my hormones are a mess, but your post brought tears to my eyes. I think it''s beyond awesome that the poster who started the TTC thread is pregnant, and with twins! What a blessing! Huge congratulations to you & Mr. Blushing. You & the other posters on the TTC thread were such a help to me when I was trying to navigate the world of charting and TTC, and I am just so overjoyed that you have your own pregnancy to celebrate now. And twins, you lucky girl! I am just so happy for you.

Oobie & Lucy, congrats on your pregnancies as well!

Puppmom, do not be afraid to ban family members from the hospital until you are ready for visitors. All of our parents/inlaws were long distance, but since my delivery took forever, they were sitting at our house waiting for the news of the baby. DS was born at 4:19 am, and DH called the house around 5 am to let them know that he was born, but since we had been up all night, we let them know that we would be getting some rest, and call them that afternoon so they could come visit the baby then. It was really nice, because there was no pressure, and we didn''t have to deal with visitors until we were ready. After all, they waited 9 months to meet the baby, another 8 hours wasn''t going to kill them
emsmilep.gif

HH, that''s so funny about the neutral colors. We found out DS''s gender at 18 weeks, and since my favorite color is blue, almost all of the clothes I bought for him were blue. However, when I got him home and started dressing him in various outfits, we noticed that his best colors were yellow and peach. So, for the next size up, I ended up buying him a bunch of neutral stuff. I just went to Carter''s last week to pick up a couple of new things for the new baby, so he''s not entirely clad in hand-me-downs, and I got him a gender neutral outfit with little yellow ducks on it. I figure at least I''ll be able to tell them apart in the newborn pics, because Andrew will be mostly in blue, and the new little guy will be mostly in yellow & orange :)
Vespergirl - you are so sweet, thank you!!!! Yes, I am the creator of the TTC thread and it''s longest standing member - sheesh!
19.gif
Needless to say, I''m very happy to have moved on to the preggo thread.
36.gif
Don''t get me wrong, I''m still holding my breath, but with each day that passes feel more and more confident.

Congrats, Blushing! What fantastic news!

There''s gonna be LOTS of action on this and the newborn thread in Sept and Oct!

Thanks everyone for sympathizing with my feelings on wanting some private time after the baby is born. Pregnancy really does feel like a *family affair* so I feel like that''s our one time for it be just us. After that, all bets are off! Those grandparents are going to be knee deep in all things baby!

Thank you so much Janinegirly!!!!! I saw on a few threads you were asking/wondering about my whereabouts (BTW - your definitely one my PS Soul Mates as well!). I did pull an "Ebree," but my news was so big that I couldn''t wait to tell you all! Plus, I have so many questions which is another reason why I came clean.

Cara!!!! My original preggo twin and my sort of, almost preggo twin!!! I''m sooooooo happy that you are preggo again too!!! Were you/are you neurotic like me and paranoid everytime you go the bathroom? Honestly, I don''t know if or when that paranoia will go away (and I have to admit it''s very annoying). Just curious if went through or are going through the same thing.

I know they are fraternal because they are in two different sacs (the main reason they didn''t find the second one for two weekds) and my doctor told us that I released two eggs which were fertilized and implanted.

What''s the most important piece of advice you can give me??? I know that I''m in for wild ride, but DH and I are FULLY ready for the challenge!!

Blushing - I''m a lurker more than anything these days, but I had to jump in and congratulate you!

Congratulations to all the new ladies!!!! I can't believe how many 2010's we're going to have running around by the end of the year!!!!

I'm thinking of taking a week off before my due date. The stress and anxiety of this house stuff is driving me crazy as I sit at my desk. If the baby doesn't come by the 29th, then we will induce the following Monday, so I would really only be taking about 5 days early. I feel like for my own sanity, it is going to be necessary. I just can't imagine feeling like this for another month... there is so much that I could be doing if I was off work right now.

Blushing, I was not nervous in the bathroom but I think it took awhile for me to *trust* it. A long while. And to get excited, but I''m getting there! Partly I was so miserable with ms, but I think partly it was not knowing if this one is sticking around. But it does appear to be sticking around, thankfully!

Hmm maybe I''m missing something if your doc thinks they are fraternal. Mandy''s twins had separate sacs IIRC and they turned out to be identical! They must have split early enough in the process that two sacs formed, though she didn''t find out until post-natal testing. Well, that and they look freakin identical! I know frat is more likely with the separate-sac twins, but I thought identical was still possible. Maybe your doc saw something else that made him/her think frat. But that''s all academic, how exciting exciting exciting! Have you and your hubs told people about the pregnancy, and told them about the twins? In some ways maybe your long struggle getting preggo helped prepare you for this challenge, cause I tell you I was *worried* about the twins possibility for myself. But it is great that you and your hubs are so ready (or as ready as you can be) for the blessings and challenges!

OK blushing I had to come out of lurkerdom to congratulate you! I am so excited, how wonderful to be expecting twins! I am wishing you a smooth, uneventful pregnancy. So, so happy to hear this!

drk Can I just say that your labor story was fascinating to read because you have such a unique medical perspective? You are very matter of fact -- I really enjoyed reading!

Quick update from me -- 27 weeks and breezing right through -- still receiving weekly IVIG treatments and the little guy hasn''t needed a transfusion yet! I don''t want to jinx myself, but just last week my peri was telling me how amazed he is at how well I have responded to the IVIG. He says that according to all of the literature, I just wouldn''t have made it this far without transfusions given my crazy high antibody levels. So I am thrilled and feel so grateful to have made it this far with no transfusions for the little guy. Even if we start needing them soon that is fine, because he''s large enough that it''s easy for them to access the umbilical vein. We *may* do a cordocentesis next week so I''d get a steroid injection on Monday, another on Tuesday, then the procedure on Wednesday. Tomorrow we''re going to discuss whether that is still the plan or whether we''re brave enough to keep going and waiting. My OB scheduled my C-section for May 25th, I''ll be 36w3d... so if all goes well, that is our plan. It''s nice to have the end in sight!

Also this week I reduced my hours to 20 a week which is so lovely. My Dr. wrote me a note to cut me back to 4 hour work days which will also help me handle all of my appointments better without having to take leave, make up hours, etc. Work will kick in the difference so I''ll still be paid as though I''m in a full-time status, I can''t beat that. So I''ll be working part time for the next 8 weeks... much better!

Cara - I'm starting to learn how to "trust," but I'm definitely not there yet. Now I have to wait two weeks for my NT scan and my first OB appointment. My doc who said it was fraternal was my RE, so either she saw something she wasn't telling me or maybe it was a guess? I'll definitely ask my OB when I go for my first appointment.

Our immediate families know - just parents, siblings and sibling's spouses. We have only told two friends (DH's best man in our wedding and his wife). His wife miscarried two weeks after I did and she is pregnant again and due the same day I am! How crazy is that? None of our other friends know. However, my boss knows I'm pregnant and about the twins. She actually guessed it because our office moved as soon as I got my BFP and I wasn't lifting any boxes. Honestly, I knew I was pregnant for like 3 days when she guessed. But, she's been a HUGE support for me (she had a miscarriage too) and has been great with all my doctor's appts, missed work, etc. Oh, and my BFF at work who is also close with my boss knows because she overheard me ordering decaff coffee and the bells and whisltes went off in her head. She's been a huge support for me too, so it's fine.

We will tell everyone else after the NT scan.

Hi Littlelysser!
35.gif
I hope you and little Calvin are doing well! I miss your sense of humor - you always put a smile on my face esp. on days when I needed it the most. Thank you!
5.gif

Thank you Lindsey! I'm so glad to hear that things are going great with you and the baby. I can't believe you're at 27 weeks!!! Time flies!!! I'm truly thrilled for you and your DH!!!

Thanks to everyone else I may have missed (I wish I had time to personally respond to everyone, but work awaits!) - you ladies are such a special group!! I'm so happy to be back amongst all of you again!
36.gif

Linds, that is great that you and your LO are progressing so well! And also great that you can cut back on work with no pay cut. um, what is the cordocentesis for?

DrK, I also really enjoyed your birth story! I take you were... less than 100% thrilled with your epidural care? Got to be tough, being a doc and a patient. But congrats on little K and good luck with the next phase!

Blushing, good luck you are almost there. Not the twin pregnancy done, no, but surviving the first tri deserves its own special award. Yes it was great to see the little blob at early ultrasounds, but part of me was like, OK, heartbeat check, that's good progress, now wait wait for more better confirmation later. Hubby and the doc did try to remind me that my miserable nausea was a good sign of progress
3.gif
which was true but ... hard to get positive-thinking on. I got a little peak scan at 10 weeks, and then the NT last week, and those were both way way better with arms and legs and a human-looking body plan and all! The NT is particular is awesome, so much detail. Yeah, our plan also was to wait for the NT scan at least, which was last week. But you can see from my Katherine Heigl comment, I think some people are onto me
2.gif

blushing - while I didn''t have a miscarriage, I did have an early complications that resulted in spotting - it definitely took me a long time to *trust* that this babe would stick around. even after that magic 12/13 wk/second trimester happened, I still felt that the baby was so vulnerable. finally, around 16 wks or so, I think that I finally started to feel more comfortable that this was *actually* happening. Right around when the mental/emotional challenges were fading, I started to feel better physically and it was pretty amazing
9.gif

hi lindsey
35.gif
. another great update! It''s all excellent news and hurray for being able to reduce your work hours (and still get paid!) nice work momma!!

drk-Kate, I loved reading your birth story. Until recently, when I was reading this thread, I had not known you were a physician. I agree that your medical perspective made your birth story especially interesting. (BTW, what is your field?)

Kara is exquisite. I love her picture at three days. The down on her cheek is almost palpable in the photo you posted! You are very lucky to have her (and she you, of course!). The pictures of you are most amazing, too. You must keep in tip top physical shape in order to have bounced back from pregnacy so quickly!

I look forward to hearing much more about you and Kara, but I remember what it was like to have a new baby. I received one card that said something like, "There are three rules you must remember for handling the birth of a new baby". When one opened the card it said inside, "Unfortunately, no one knows what they are".

The best of luck to you and lovely Kara!

Hugs,
Deb/AGBF
