Hello!
Sharing my vintage Aquamarine ring I bought a few months ago.
1.8 ct, square cushion cut set in platinum
2 pics one indoors and one outdoors
Oh adding one more not so great pic just to1848A605-24A6-4A80-B535-EE5F82EDEC18.jpeg show the shape, which I love

WOW WOW WOW. I never thought I would love a princess cut Aquamarine as much as I love this. Its so pretty especially with those fishtail (is that right) prongs?

Thanks! Yes fishtail prongs

I had my mahenge spinel I posted in mahenge thread set. I really liked a design I found somewhere on the internet and shamelessy copied it ;-) I will propose soon, I hope I get accepted!

I can't remember if I had posted my Mahenge Spinel ring in this thread, the stone was from Yvonne.

And a blue Zircon from JD:

Another milky aquamarine for me. Like having a piece of the sky or a drop of sea water on your finger.

Since I’ve finally stopped lurking and am now posting, I shall play. My engagement ring has two sapphires, and one of my right hand rings is a blue diamond. I am in love with this blue diamond, and my heart still stops whenever I look at her. I still cannot believe my husband remembered that I mentioned that I saw a woman wearing a blue diamond that I loved back in 2014, and that he looked for the perfect stone until he finally found it in 2018.CDAD6FBC-7C56-4874-B2CB-ADD0466B84D5.jpeg83B2B2FA-B18D-4E2E-B495-AF48A427C622.jpegB472BF98-6837-47FB-99D1-95AA2625B293.jpeg

HOLY CRAP! I love both of these. I love those sapphires and that light blue diamond! Both are to die for! I am so jealous! In a good way of course....but wowsers woman! You won the ring lottery. :) Sounds like hubby isn't so bad either!

Thank you! Thank you so much. And yes, I got lucky, as this man is absurdly great at selecting and sourcing stones and just surprises me with these creations. Of course, he’s just an all around lovely, thoughtful guy. To say he’s a keeper is an understatement.

She said yes and likes the ring very much:) also the daytime color is so much better

Congrats! The color looks wonderful against her skin!

I couldn't help but notice she's wearing the ring on right index finger in the pictures. And Tolkien Elven custom is to wear the engagement ring there...is there a human culture where the ring is worn on that finger? I tried for a while to get my DF to wear an engagement ring on that finger, but to him it felt unnatural so I let him wear it on a normal finger.

thank you:)

I didn't realise it was an elven custom haha and I love Tolkien books, I must have missed that detail. She doesn't really wear rings(well now she does) and for whatever reason it felt natural to her to wear it on that finger which is fine with me.

I do wonder is wearing ring on index finger less practical? It seems the ring will get banged up quicker but Idk really. Anyone knows?

It's not in the finished works, but his son has compiled more materials from manuscripts that are not publishable in novel format. This information is in a chapter entitled "Laws and Customs of the Eldar" in the book "Morgoth's Ring", but even I who love reading fantasy and got through the Silmarillion unfazed lost interest in such a compendium. If you're interested in reading, the section on engagement and marriage rites are found on page 4 of this pdf (begins at scanned page 210 and continues through page 211; the mention of the index finger of the right hand on page 211).

In terms of whether wearing it there is less practical, I've had many rings made for my index finger and wear rings on it often. I don't think your index finger is more likely to bump into things, but one does move the index finger more often, so I'm more conscious of the fact that I'm wearing a ring there when I lift my finger and feel the weight of the ring I'm wearing. A ring on the index finger tends to be noticed more prominently, but when I wear a ring I designed myself to symbolize me and my fiance (avatar ring, worn on my left hand index finger) I notice it more often on the index finger than any other finger and think of my fiance more often, which I think is a very good thing.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. The gorgeousness you have shared sure has brightened my day and the story about your husband remembering what caught your eye and heart was beautiful =)2

Congratulations. It’s a lovely colour gem stone. I am assuming it’s a sapphire. Re rings worn on the index finger, I find they don’t get in the way. It’s a lovely, prominent spot to wear a ring, so you and others will see it more often.

My soon to be engagement ring. Purple spinel, rose cut diamonds, platinum and rose gold. CvB. I don't have it yet but I'm thrilled my Mr told me to pick out a rock and commission a ring. I have 2 bands in the works to go with it.

Love this!!! Why spinel and not amethyst?

@dasheekee spinel has a higher hardness and higher RI, making it both more durable for everyday wear (definitely a plus for an engagement ring) and more sparkly.

Good to know. I was thinking of adding amethyst side stones to mine but i love your purple

Overjoyed to finally be posting pictures of a ring that's been twelve years in the making! We bought this 1.93 carat congo tourmaline from Dan Stair in 2007, and life got in the way of having it set. It's the first gemstone we ever purchased, and my husband wanted to have it set for our 25 year anniversary ❤️ After months of searching, I finally found the perfect 18k setting at the Tucson Gem Show, from a great little shop called Paironi Jewelers. This gemstone seems a little hard to find now, glad we bought when we did! 20200221_211053.jpg20200221_091720.jpg20200221_092849.jpg20200221_091712.jpg

Thank you. Well I guess likely the ring will stay there then. You’re close it’s a mahenge spinel

@jenzgemz Congratulations on 25 years and getting your Congo tourmaline set! Your setting is very pretty. I love the bezel set round diamonds on the side. That's a sweet little surprise when you peek over the halo! The stone looks so richly saturated and is such a pretty color! Its It looks like you could get lost looking into that stone. I love it!

Had my sapphire reset in a custom setting. It's so much better.

Really pretty. I like the band(s)? Are there two bands, or is it one designed to look like two? The diamond bands, with the halo, with the oval blue sapphire looks very sophisticated. Its a very classy look!

It's two bands, but I had it made into a single piece to keep the two rings from rubbing together and causing damage. And thank you so much! I love the final result!

I received another ring from Aurosi Jewels on etsy. It's my 2.7 ct. tanzanite from Top Tanzanite. I'm very happy with it!!!!

Hello!
I am recently looking at Aurosi for my diamond setting too. It seems that he did a great job on yours! It is so beautiful. I saw you in his Etsy comment too lol.
I wonder if you purchased the setting and mount this stone at a local jeweler, or you sent the stone to him to mount it?
Thank you!

Decided to pile on the rings like @T L does. 1 ruby and 2 spinels on my left hand, and a blue sapphire and paraibas on my right hand. The left hand image had the color settings adjusted to better match the color I see IRL in the red gems.

Yup! Thank you @voce it's also my son's birthstone which makes me happy as well.

@dasheekee you should think about purple spinel as side stones instead of amethyst. They will hold up better.

Love! I've been thinking of doing a red/purple ring. Thank you for showing yours. I'm smitten with the cab.
