Don't listen to DF! (that's actually a PS axiom, but beyond that...) Any man worth his salt is not going to be offended to buy dinner. Besides DF, HER date was for coffee and fell through. DINNER, at HIS instigation, is a whole new ballgame.

Bottom line, CV should be able and willing to buy a decent dinner for the adorable girl who flattered his socks off by asking him out.

Liane, he's a southern boy! He has a very slight southern accent that is just adorable. Apparently I keep getting attracted to this type? My ex is a southern boy as well, but HIS accent was EXTREMELY heavy and not quite as cute, lol

I obviously knew him and had been involved with him, but hoowhee was it nerve wracking to see if he'd still want to talk to me after we got back to the grind of our respective countries.

Yes, I told him in Croatia that I didn't want to keep in touch because it was pointless...why pine away for something I couldn't have?

Then I pined away and thought, what the hell...might as well complete the torture. I also sent him the link to the DV lottery website...kind of a "oh look! I never knew the US did this, isn't this interesting" wink wink kind of thing. He took the bait, applied, and the rest is history.

Some guys don't want the girls to do the asking. And I'd say those are not the types of guys you want to be in a relationship with because they obviously believe in gender role boundaries.

And it's good to ask, even if you get rejected...it makes us women a little kinder to the guy that we reject the next time.
