Just curious--how long did you and your FI date before getting engaged?

8 yrs- but we were fresh out of high school and I had to finish college and grad school. It also took him 8 yrs to get up the nerve to ask. I''m glad we waited till I graduated, but from year 6-8 I really wanted a ring and hinted like crazy.

Ok, let''s see, we were friends for a few months first, then we started dating Nov. 2003. We got engaged July 31, 2005. So, I guess we had been dating for 1 year and 9 mos? But, we had known each other for five months before that and were basically acting like bf and gf without actually kissing or anything, so we knew each other pretty well. We aren''t getting married until June of 2007 though. He has to finish bschool.
