I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

Had lunch with my ex-sister in law today.

It was like we hadn't missed a beat. I just worry about offending anyone, ex's new wife in particular. That would be the last thing I want to do...I just don't know how the rules with this work...

Unfortunately I think you have to make them up as you go along.

Strawder - Are you friendly with ex and his new wife at all?

I'll say this. To me it is not for his new wife to dictate who you are going to be friends with. You were a part of that family at one point and if you became friends with the sister then there should not be an issue with that so long as you and sister does not interfere with Ex and his new wife in any way. My mom is still friends with my dad's one brother and his wife. It is not something that affects my father in any way. I just don't see anything wrong with the two of you being friends.

I discovered my new favorite sound.

Two dogs walking through leaves.

I'm going out for drinks with two of my friends tonight. I'm super excited. The three of us haven't actually gone out to a bar together in way too freaking long.

DF- I've never met her but I just don't know how I would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. Oh well, play it as it comes.

Princesss- yeah, I think you are right. Wahoo for girls night, I am having dinner with one of my good girlfriends, I really love girl time....and the wine that generally flows during! :naughty: I

ooh I am very late to this announcement -

CONGRATS KAMA!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

me - oh I'll be honest, I'm much more likely to forget anniversaries than you are - and now we have three!
DH - well I think we can start phasing one of them out...
me - no! if we hadn't dated we wouldn't have gotten engaged, and if we hadn't gotten engaged...
DH - you know I'll get you truffles anytime you actually just ask, right?

Aww, that's cute!!

Strawder--I don't think there ARE rules for that type of thing, it just varies by situation. I was previously with a guy for over 5 years and engaged to him for another 10 months after that before we broke it off. He and I are still friends, and I also know that he hangs out with my brother and brother's in-laws on a semi-frequent basis. I realize that yeah, he was like a member of the family and of course it's his and my family's right to still be friends. But at the same time, I hate it because it just makes me uncomfortable. Then I'm always worried that my brother is going to invite the ex-FI over to some party or event and I'll be there with current BF, and that would be super awkward and weird. I dunno, we've been broken up for almost 2 years and I still struggle internally with this.

princesss-- I'm sorry to hear that your ex is having a rough time, and I totally understand you wanting to be there for him. I also know how hard that is when you're both trying to move on. Good for you, though, to still feel compassion and caring for him and what happens in his life. People often break up and then just seem to stop caring about each other, but I've always wondered about that. I mean, you DID used to be an item and obviously have a shared history that at one time was a great thing for you, so how can people forget that so suddenly? Also, sorry your guy hasn't called, but hooray for girls' night!

I had dinner this evening with a girl I went to grad school with and haven't seen since we graduated over 3 years ago! We were close friends in grad school, then of course everyone goes their separate ways and life gets in the way. I'm in LA this week for work, and she lives/works in LA permanently, so we made plans to meet up and it was so much fun!

ok seriously, I've had this ticking thing going on in my right eyelid since yesterday morning. it's waaay past time for it to be done. driving me fricken bonkers. there it goes again! gah!

It is too easy to do that. For all the quality control issues.. I'm a sucker for the loungewear :halo: fortunately last time I gave into the impulse to go nuts the website was 'under maintenance' and saved me a couple hundred!

It sure is, isn't it? I got a little somethin'-somethin' there a few weeks ago and surprised BF with it last week, and I seriously thought his eyes were going to pop out of their sockets. It was really cute! I've got a bunch of stuff that I've had for awhile and don't really like anymore, so I figured I'd get a couple new things. Once I get them, I'm going to have to unveil them to him with restraint...don't want to blow it all at once (umm, pun NOT intended)!

:twirl:

Boo for under maintenance! I got a couple of the things tonight on sale, and got free shipping, so that's always a plus.

Congrats Kama!!

Thanks, Yssie! I posted pics in the House Hunters thread in the Family and Home forum, if you want to take a peek!

Such a cute conversation, your hubby is a dear!

Indylady: Thank you!!!

Packrat - Eat a banana. Generally this is a potassium thing.

I just scored tickets to the Linkin Park concert! I bought them as a Christmas gift for my little brother, but don't let anyone fool you into thinking I am not just as, if not more, excited than he is! I did introduce LP to him, afterall. :Up_to_something:

In the Indian culture, if your eye twitches, something bad is about to happen. My eye twitches every single time I am about to have a huge row with someone. And I am a researcher in science. I just can't rule out the correlation!

Kama - Now I'm going to watch and see if it does happen that way!

I decided last week that from now on I'm going to invest in pretty lingerie just to make myself feel pretty. Already got one set. Even if I just sit around and paint my toenails in it I just want some.

I'm really glad I have my dogs sleeping with me at night because otherwise I'd freeze. I'm awaiting a new comforter set for Christmas, and am also waiting to dry clean my GOOD comforter set until I don't have to buy gobs of presents. So right now I have a thin little blanket and then three wool blankets on my bed. My room doesn't get any heat to it for some reason (something about the venting structure in the back hallway, all the heat goes to my grandpa's room and the bathroom), and I'm almost positive the window has a leak, so I freeze all night. My pups normally get up around 5 but this morning they stayed in with me until 7 when I got up, and snuggled close. It was nice and warm and cozy.

Thanks for the tip DF, I'll make a run out and grab one!

I am jamming out to Radiohead in my office and slowly but surely getting through the 200+ emails I have......It's a good Friday. :)

I knew we were friends for a reason.

OK Computer... the best one to date, IMO. ;) The only 2 songs that I skip are 'Fitter Happier' and 'Karma Police'. Every other song, ohhh.... Have you heard of Vitamin String Quartet? They did a strictly strings version of OK Computer and it was AMAZING. Any RH fan should own. ;)

Like, um, only my FAVOURITE ALBUM EVER?? I can't believe you skip 'Karma Police' - you need to be arrested (you talk in math)!! I also love 'Fitter Happier' - have that as a poster too!

Haven't heard the Vitamin String Quartet, but nothing can ever measure up to my dear Thom Yorke.

Only, ofcourse, Kermit the Frog's version of 'Creep'.

See, I am thinking that they are just not the best songs on that album. I enjoy 'No Surprises'- which by the way, was playing at Chipotle the other day and I was a little too excited about that- 'Lucky' (probably one of my top 5 songs of ALL time) and well, honestly the rest of them. LOL. I can listen to this album on repeat for hours.

Hahaha, you're much too funny! That said, it IS my favourite album, and so I just squishy heart LOVE each and every song. I, too, can listen to the album on repeat for days on end!

I'm also really digging 'In Rainbows'. It's VERY Yorke influenced, and has a lot of similarity to his solo album (The Eraser). I did not like HTTT, the only RH album I do not care for. I've also seen them in concert thrice, what in the eight years I've lived in North America!

Muse, Kings of Leon, MGMT, Them Crooked Vultures, Dave, Coldplay, Blitzen Trapper, Interpol, Guster, John Butler Trio, Spoon, Beach House, The Black Keys. To name a few...LOL. I really LOVE Muse, first heard about them last year when they opened for U2- I was completely blown away. Their lead singer could be the mix of Thom Yorke and Freddie Mercury.

What about you?

My taste in music is not nearly as streamlined as yours! They're not grouped by genre, just typed as I thought of them!

Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, CeU, Metric, Our Lady Peace, Nine Inch Nails, Flaming Lips, Snow Patrol, Nirvana, Modest Mouse, Wilco, Smashing Pumpkins, Prodigy, Eagles, Wolf Parade, Linkin Park, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Dandy Warhols, Simon & Garfunkel, Sophie Milman, Nikki Yanofsky and lots of smaller funky-jazz bands.

I freaking love Muse. A friend of mine introduced me to them forever ago - sophomore or junior year in high school? Sooooo.....8/9 years ago? OMG. That makes me feel crazy that I've been listening to them for that long. That was back when we had the same taste in music, though...he used to tell me a band I'd like and I'd just go out and buy every CD. Never steered me wrong. Then he got a little...I dunno. Rainbow goth I think is the term he used. And I stopped trusting his taste in music.

Okay. Done rambling.
