I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

I just watched a one-legged man ride a regular, standard issue bicycle to the store. He used his crutches, held upside-down, to move the pedal for the missing foot. When he got to the store, he had his crutches with him to help him get around on foot!

I was very impressed! :appl:

Busy. Busy. Busy.

Life has taken a sudden and somewhat surprising change of course! I'm scrambling to get everything prepared and go with the flow. Still lots up in the air, but the outcome is looking more and more certain.

I'm so hot- a complete sweaty mess. The NYC apt is never cool enough no matter what I do. We have a whole wall of windows facing west and it really bakes throughout the day. Ugh! Cannot wait for the weekend and central A/C!!
4th heat wave of the (only 3 weeks in!) summer! ;(

On the plus side I am loving the long bright days- it feels like the days are endless and not over when you get home from work. :appl:

I am loving the series Breaking Bad!!! Oh and I am on jury duty! :snore:

I'm taking an art and literature class this week and it's really fun so far. I don't like missing the gorgeous weather though.

Its quite the progression! You will enjoy each of the seasons, they are different and evolving in their own ways. We got hooked on it to (hahaha - bad pun!!) and would be up at night doing 3 or 4 at a time - very addictive!! AMC, Bravo, A&E, HBO - they all have such amazing quality TV shows.

Have you seen Political Advisors (oops, could be wrong title...)? we just started that last night as well. Sigourney Weaver stars in it on Bravo on Sundays. Looks like it will be a great show - it seems to be mirroring Hilary Clinton (at least that's what I thought...)

Oh I have little kids so I don't have time for tv like we use to but I am glad we got hooked on Breaking Bad too!!! ;))

Once I am caught up on BB; I will have to check out Political Advisors, sounds interesting!!!

A wonderful slightly chilly delta breeze (thank you, weather gods!) is wafting the not-so-wonderful aroma of skunk into my house. :nono:

I think Sigourney Weaver's new show is called Political Animals. I missed the first episode but I'll find it on On Demand.

Do you watch The Newsroom on HBO? Sunday's episode (the 4th one, I think) was really good. I love Aaron Sorkin.

I just recently learned that the "Weird Country Smell" I smelled on road trips was skunk. I don't know why I didn't know this before. And I'm sure I haven't always smelled it in the countryside; I am just oblivious.

Love your avatar, by the way! Are those your babies?

Thank you! Those are two of our boys, Atlas and Prometheus (our third is canine and the cats aren't keen to cuddle him). They are brothers and constantly doing cute things together - I love it!

Kefira -- They are just so sweet looking!

I'm going to buy a bedding set after work today. Leaving in about an hour. I have no idea where to look for good quality and cheap prices. (Marshalls, Ross, and Tuesday Morning had nothing yesterday)
On the list for today is Macy's (clearance section), Bed Bath & Beyond, and Kohl's. One way or another, I'm getting bedding TODAY.

Need the bedding to get a paint color. Need the paint before the baseboards...

Anyone know how to add a few extra hours into the day??

It's been eons since I've done a random thought (that I'd share anyway), but today I'm inspired......

"17th verse, same as the first." Repetition's just a bitch, ain't it?

When my mom dies, it won't be from cancer. It will be from a personality disorder that is preventing her from seeking treatment for the cancer. Her *cancer* is treatable. Her *personality* is not.

I've been there.

I still think, "What if?" Would she still be here if I'd gotten in her face?? I just don't know.

You have my positive thoughts and heartfelt sympathy.

Guinness is officially my very most "favouritest" beer EVER! Yum... I love the foam on top! :lickout:

Homegoods? TJMaxx?

Rachel Maddow is awesome. I may have already posted that before but it bears repeating.

haha, that is my husbands favorite!!!

We got some rain today, yay!!!! whistles "raindrops keep falling on my head"

We are baby sitting my mums 2 dogs and her cat for the next two weeks. Add that to our 2 cats and our house is pretty crazy right now but we are loving it!! The puppy is a mini schnauzer and we got to take her to her last puppy preschool class. It was so cool! She can sit, drop, stay and come all on command and was 3rd fastest at hide and seek :appl: the big dog is a German shepherd. She was a kennel dog. she is 5 years old and was used for showing and breeding before they found her a new home. She loves sleeping inside and going for walks to the beach and fetching the ball. She is so much happier now than when my mum first got her a month or so ago.
I can see that we will be getting a dog shortly after these guys go back home to my mum. If only we can decide on a big dog or a little one. I love the GS, DH loves the mini, my daughter loves both... Decisions decisions! ::)

Oooh HOT decisions indeed!!

I vote one of each

A cranky little rant:

I *despise* text-speak.
You don't look cool, you look illiterate.
Don't tell me that it's your way of "expressing yourself" - that you've somehow failed to recognise the contradiction inherent in choosing to hamstring your ability to nuance in the name of self-expression does you no favours.
Whatever the reasoning, I am utterly incapable of taking you seriously.

Bah.

I had to have my 18 year old kitty put down today. I know without a doubt it was the right thing to do, but it doesn't make it any easier.
