Thank you Maky, Missy and DeeJay! We have only 3 months to turn everything around and high tail it over there. I'm still hoping I will get to keep my job but probably won't know till the end of November. It is all a bit stressful but we wanted this so really I can't complain. I'm so excitied I could pop right now. We have been waiting almost 3 months to find out.

How cool is this?!! I've missed where you've spoken of it before, so I have to ask - where in Europe? Nothing like having bilingual kids; that will be one of the best bonuses of the move! Yay!!!

Yeah, and I think after what you're going through, we should all chip in and buy them for you! I am so sorry for all that is going on with your DH but you can now count one more keeping you in positive thoughts and sending you dust.

Thanks to all for the kind words and a wonderful place to come cry when I have to be strong IRL.

Still waiting to hear from the spine specialist on the x-rays BUT the blood work all came back normal. The mixed-blessing of seeing the lab results on line at the same time the doctor can see them is that I'm able to scan through them all and see that everything checked falls in normal ranges but I'm not able to completely know for sure what it means until the doctor reviews it and gets back to me. To my untrained brain, it looks like great news! All of the stuff in the blood the doctor was concerned about finding (signs of muscle infections, organ issues, autoimmune diseases etc) is well within normal ranges.

So, for now, I'm going to take this as good and just focus on getting the other stuff done and paperwork filed as needed.

The next two MRI's are scheduled for tomorrow. Those are with contrast. We should (hopefully) know by the end of this week if he needs to get in for an MRI of his brain. Hoping to have all of those done to take images and radiology reports along with to the neurologist.

Scary times though.
He fell in the kitchen night before last when his leg muscles just gave out. Then yesterday he couldn't get out of bed or stand up from sitting in a chair without help.

TP- I am still thinking of you and your dh and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers...sending hugs your way too.

I am so pissed off at the unprofessional geezer who USED to be my pharmacist that words cannot even.

LOATHSOME, UNPROFESSIONAL, HYPOCRITICAL POS.

Ugh.

Oh no...in my 4+ years here on PS I've never *seen* you this upset and angry Circe, so I can only assume it's something pretty serious :(( I hope you find another pharmacist soon that you can trust. Hugs!

It is WAY COOL!! We will settle in either Western Germany or The Netherlands. Havne't decided yet and probably won't till we get there and start house hunting. We will be there for 3-4 years so my kids will still be pretty young when we move back to the States, still I am hoping them pick up the language or some of it. I grew up spending my time between two continents and have strong multilingual background. I would be thrilled in my kids could too....though I really need to be better about talking to them in French or Hebrew. I started out really well when they were little but gave up when they had problems with talking to others outside of our family in anything but english. Perhaps I will revisit....

You are in our thoughts TP.

Police cars on the corner. Helicopter right overhead. Very little traffic on the street - streets cordoned off? Helicopter tells us they're searching the area for a wanted felony suspect - with canine officers - now they're talking to him - "Anthony, our dogs are tracking you. Come out now before you get bit."

I think I'll stay inside!

OK so what do I have to say to you to get your guys stationed in Germany???? It would be so much fun being near each other. I'm all for shoving the kids in the car and road tripping someplace!!!

Yes!

I do like the clock change though! This weekend we get to shift the clocks and have a few more weeks of it being light (or at least almost light) in the mornings :appl:

Mayk -- Thank you.

Did two of the contrast MRI's today. Getting the reports tomorrow. Not sure if I'll know what they say but the spine specialist, neurologist, and chiropractor will all be getting copies.

I'm done with all of my calculus homework for the night and a full week ahead in my music theory class (had to have something to get to "full time"). Can't do any more until he opens the next section on Monday.

"A" is being a pain right now. I don't know what exactly she's thinking. I don't even know if she knows what she's thinking.
After making such a mess when we left her alone one night, she's been doing all sorts of other passive-aggressive stuff. One of the big struggles is getting up in the mornings. She'd gotten good at getting up to her alarm and getting ready in the morning. Now for the last 2-3 weeks she's refused to wake up to it -- "forgetting" to set it (after I reminded her before bed) is bad enough but she's actually sitting in her bed (some mornings with her light on!) until I go in and tell her to get up. I've shifted to closer and closer to when she has to leave for school (now up to 12 minutes for her to shower, dress, brush hair, brush teeth) and sending her with breakfast in a plastic bag to eat after she gets to school. I had figured that being rushed like that would be uncomfortable and get old pretty quick so she'd go back to what she had been doing. (and I do remember being the impossible to wake up teenager who went through stages of sleeping through every last alarm --- it is the sitting in bed awake and just refusing to get up until I go in that is so crazy!)
The latest addition is that she's decided that she "doesn't like" her SoniCare (that she's been using and has liked for 12 months...) and refuses to use anything but an old fashioned toothbrush. (keep in mind that her mother is nutty enough that if we end up back in court for some reason, we need all of the drs to agree that we have done everything possible to get her healthy and keep her healthy)
Her hair is nasty and greasy with gross white chunks because she just won't wash her hair more than once a week (or less) -- and says she did wash it if you ask her.

FWIW, she LOVES school. Has a great group of friends she spends time with. She even likes most of her teachers. She (and a few friends) joined yearbook club. 4 a's and 2 b's with great praise (genuine compliments, evenings of relaxing, weekends away) for the effort she's been putting in. It isn't like she hates school or is being picked on during the day or anything.

And of course "professional" help doesn't do much good because she won't acknowledge any of this! She does some combination of out and out lying (like the hair washing), glossing over (getting up in the mornings) and just forgetting/denying (sitting in bed).

Wow, TP, it sounds like you have a hugely full plate of crappy stuff right now - like a bad Thanksgiving buffet where they loaded you down with everything. :nono: :(sad

I'm so grossed out! 5:15 this a.m. I'm in the shower & a big cockroach sashays right in front of me! One of the banes of the South. I HATE BUGS. Poor DH is sound asleep. I let out a loud squawk, turn on all the lights looking for one of his heavy shoes to club the gorilla. He must've thought I'd been attacked; I had! Calling the exterminator today, y.u.c.k.!

Battling cockroaches while butt naked -- vulnerability defined! :x

TP, my heart goes out to you. You really should get a medal for this!

JF, I seriously LOL'd at the image of you bolting around the house nekked with a giant show in your hand battling Ricardo the Roach!

I GOT 'IM, DJ!! (Power emotie!)

At least you got him!
And your DH knows that if he wants to not wake up that way again, he won't complain about the exterminator

Can people and cats catch cold from one another? Our female cat was sneezing up a storm last week, I got sick with a cold or sinus issue or something this week, and now our male cat is sneezing like crazy.

I don't think so, but you might all have similar allergies.

Allergies would be much more likely.

There are some things that will spread between cats/dogs/people but the only ones that I am aware of are parasites. I'm not familiar with all the other stuff they can get so there could be something else!

Thanks JF and TP! I'm sure it's a coincidence, but it's funny that we're all sneezing a ton, often in unison!

I think I have salmonella.

Not awesome.

ETA: Are you able to get good care or is this something you'll need to come home for? How is your husband doing?

April-I hope it turns out not to be but in any case I hope you feel better soon!

Laurie-been there and done that LOL. I can laugh about it now but at the time...Glad you got the little (or not so little) monster-good job! Nothing feels so good as the after rush of adrenaline calming down after you've killed a gross scary bug!

DH is complete recovered, thanks for asking.

The doctor on site just came to see me and is bringing me meds. It should run its course. I am an idiot. This is my fault. I made some mayonnaise and didn't think about the fact that I was using a local egg and not the imported eggs I usually use. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Apri20, you poor thing! I hope you get over this quickly!

So scores on my last part of the CPA exam may be released as early as today (although Illinois usually lags the main release by a day--or more). I just wanno know!!! PLEASE give me my damn number!!!

Good news: My husband's unit approved him coming back to visit over Christmas! Yay!!! <happy dance>

Bad news: My 3 year old daughter brought something home from daycare...so she, my 4 month old baby girl, and myself are all sick. My 3 year old has a double ear infection, I have a sinus infection, and my 4 month old has a horrible cough. Running on steams here, hopefully it passes soon!
