Gypsy here's the website, I must say I haven't bought anything from them before, if you decide to get it please post photos and tell me what you think, I'm considering the ring.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

That Beachstone band is stunning. Only 'problem' is that I think I'd like it best in yellow gold or rose gold. I'm not sure it would have the same effect in white metal. But the price is very reasonable. I have a couple of high carat yellow gold sets and never wear them though. That pendant would look great in white metal though. And the earrings.

I've emailed them for pics of the beachstone band in all white, and asked if they'll do a two tone yellow and white band. I also asked if they would do the band in white with blue sapphires and white diamonds. It's one of the prettiest bands I've seen in a long time. If I did get it, it would be AFTER I get rid of my current job and it's problems. So if you get anything in the meantime let me know.

The prices are great. For one Tiffany piece you can get the whole Beachstone collection. Very very tempting. Reminds me of Alex S. but simpler, which I love. I gotta say, VERY tempting items.

http://www.windsorfinejewelers.com/leslie-greene-18-karat-yellow-gold-emilia-medallion-pendant.html T-gal, this is one of my favorite Leslie Greene pendants. It's 2K and it does come in white metal. It also looks lovely on. It's clean, elegant enough for a night out, but simple enough for every day. It was my top choice when I was looking for a pendant.

Her Sasha pendant is my absolute favorite, but it is a dressy piece. Still knocks my socks off though every time I see it.

Um, yeah, LOVE! Too bad I didn't see this until today, but something else to buy later, right? I have to admit, I'm LOVING high carat gold right now and will have to start a collection slowly. But for now, I did not buy high carat yellow gold.

Yup, bought something today. Will have full report and pics on Monday as I am beat now. Thanks everyone for all your help...you are the best.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I have to agree with Tacori. TEASE.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Sorry I was being a tease, but wanted to properly thank everyone again first and give a report! Weekends are so busy with the kid, it’s a lot less computer time…

But all went well..was totally fun to go shopping for a pendant as there are so many choices.. I actually was shocked that a lot of salespeople were knowledgeable and a lot of GG’s…I run into so many horrible ones, so it was great to meet pleasant, informative ones.
And one a quick note before I start with the report, I had my pad ring on today and wasn't prepared for how many gemologists were curious about it. The Van Cleef and Arpels sales lady, after I told her it was a pad said, "Do you KNOW what that IS???" I'm like, uh yeah, believe me, I do. The guy at Tiffany's said, "you don't see those every day" and said he'd never seen any color like it after working at Tif's for a decade as well as coincidentally, Carrera y Carrera in Europe. It was nice because no normal person really actually ever notices (or should I say, appreciates) the stone in my regular life since it’s a fairly unassuming ring But it did not go unnoticed at any jeweler, which was flattering and fun.

Anyway, visited Chopard and while I do like the happy diamond stuff, even the sales person there said on some people the crystal "discolors" - and then he quickly corrected himself to say "fogs up." There is no doubt that's it's totally gorgeous stuff, but it just wasn't me. And what I did like was WAY out of budget.

OK, just my opinion here, but...Bulgari, not a thing. Harry Winston, nothing there that a mere mortal would wear. De Beers, meh. Cartier, boring. Tiffany, everything too delicate – I actually went in to try the garden collection (that Gypsy recommended – you have great taste Gypsy! and EB recommended too) as well as the cushion one that Deco posted. It was just all too dainty. The cushion one was a surprise…I thought I’d like it more but it’s TEENY. It just disappeared on my not so delicate body.

I went to Neiman Marcus too...lots of interesting designers, many that were mentioned here (so I made a point to go). Fun to see so much at once. I would have liked to see some of the Alex Sepkus stuff but didn’t run into it anywhere (I’ve seen the rings). I also went to LV, nordstroms, chanel, piaget, and bloomingdale's. Honestly, lost track of the stuff I tried on, some of it mentioned on this thread (designers, if not the actual stuff). Would have loved to check out the baxter moerman stuff as they had a show in Santa Monica, but saw the post too late.

The runner up, really oddly was a pendant at Van Cleef and Arpels. I went in to check out the breast cancer pendant, which is entirely rose gold. It was awful on me and I won’t tell you what it reminded me of, otherwise you’ll think that’s all I think of. There was a pendant she showed me that was not on the website...it's an in between size of the vintage smaller ones and the magic single motif which is much larger. It didn't have milgrain and was just straight gold border and sold as a pendant itself for $1250. Then you could buy the chain separate. It was just the size I was looking for and looked great on me. But the problem was it was MOP with yellow gold...stunning, but I don't wear yellow gold. It’s on the wish list though.

In fact, my wish list is going to be gold gold high carat gold! So much pretty stuff and tons of stuff you all posted here which has now made it to my wish list, which meant this thread made life for me worse. ::)

So yeah, bought the Carrera! I totally think it's not everyone's style, but it totally fit me...felt right after a full day of jewelry shopping. I love the simple look, but it's substantial enough and sort of medallion-y. I love that the MOP represents a sky and that Amelia's middle name is Skye. 2 butterflies for mother and child and some day I can see her wearing this piece (most likely for college graduation if she goes and finishes). It's more a young person's necklace...not timeless, but I'm OK with that because I don't see myself wearing it forever. I plan to keep building my collection (um, because you guys have pointed me to all sorts of lovely stuff…there’s a marco bicego necklace that in YG that I really like). I'll just keep buying stuff age appropriate and what strikes me for that point in my life, and pass on what I own to Amelia during different stages in her life. I’m just such a crappy t-shirt and jeans girl ,and the really dainty pretty diamond stuff just didn’t look right on me, so that probably helped me decide. The carrera also looks great with what I own, which tends to be minimalist (my e-ring in jeff cooper setting and my bezel earrings) so the carrera can afford to be a bit more showy.

Plus it's already the most complimented piece of jewelry I own...it keeps catching people’s eye which surprised me! I'm not sure what that means for the rest of my stuff, actually.... :rodent:

Anyway, thanks gals for your help, heaps!!

Pics below…the lighting condition is in the pic’s name.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

The pendant suits you well TG, sorry I posted the BM stuff too late, but Christmas is just around the corner... :naughty:

Gypsy I think blue sapphires and white gold will look wonderful, you have some great ideas!

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I love that pendant!

I also love your pad ring. Can you share where you got the stone from?

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

TG: That pendant is beautiful! I love it! Great choice!

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

The heart wants what the heart wants!

I must say, I love threads like this, where the OP has something in mind and is open to alternative suggestions ... where, no matter how many blingtastic beautiful lovelies are dangled before her, nevertheless, it's that first choice that keeps asserting itself. They're fun, they give the rest of us so many great ideas, and they definitely confirm that the OP is making the right choice!

TG, your pendant looks stunning on you, and I love the quality of the MoP. Wear it in joy!

Thank you! The pad was sourced by Richard Wise. There is a long story about my pad hunt somewhere around here. I love the stone more and more...it is a rare color, especially IRL, where it looks good in nearly all lighting conditions.

Ha, well, I kind of felt stupid starting it because I knew I liked the carrera pendant and didn't want to be one of those ask for advice but don't take it people. :rodent: But I did take all suggestions seriously, made notes for my hunt and sought out as many vendors that I could realistically hit that carried some of these designers.

And yes, there are tons of great ideas on this thread...I think it helped make my decision easier in the sense that a week ago, I thought, boy, I'm spending decent change on this, I'd better absolutely LOVE it. After this thread, I thought, I'd better love it NOW, but it's OK if there are things I will love later more, because I have a lifetime to collect jewelry and I can just do it slowly but surely.

It really helps to have a daughter to pass this stuff down - I just hope she likes jewelry. If not, I'm sure someone will take it off my hands!

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

You made the absolute right decision. When you first posted that pendant I was like... I like that one. But wanted to give you choices anyway. But I am glad you went with your first choice. I love it personally. It's unique, solid but with delicacy and looks great on you.

M pendant is also my most complimented piece. Of course I love it. But I also think it's because you don't see a lot of nice non-solitaire pendants worn that it catches people's eyes.

ETA: Thank you for the compliment T-gal, and ditto.

I do absolutely love yours Gypsy. Love that it can be worn as a brooch (sigh, I wish they'd come back en vogue, but it doesn't matter if they did...I'd never be able to rock one). I love that yours is your vision and I always thought you should design jewelry.

Kind of funny though, the reason I would have never considered yours is that it's...well, yours! I know that BGD is offering it now, but I just think it's a unique, one of a kind piece and I prefer in my mind to keep it that way.

I think pendants are most complimented because they are so close to the face (earrings too, but for some reason, it's often not a one shot "pow!" as much, yanno?) I think by default, I've already gotten a lot of compliments on it because it's eye catching and in a place that people can't avoid looking when they are talking to you.

I didn't think I'd ever wear a necklace again (I didn't for years and years) but my friend gave me that Tif one and I wore it every day for months. I remember Gypsy when you were designing yours and I thought, that's something like I'd want - I really liked the size of it, so I think that's what I was gunning for.

Have you found interesting chains for it yet? What I like about the one I got is that I can change chains for different looks if I want.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I know what you mean, sometimes pieces (even if subsequently offered for general sale with all the blessings of the original client) do have a resonance. Especially if you watched the design process with that person unfold.

It is the placement, you can't miss it. LOL. Look at my face and oh, there's my pendant around my neck.

As for chains. Yeah I found a few but I never made it to the SF Jewelry Mart where they have every chain under the sun to try on, and I didn't want to spend 300-600 on a 20 inch chain without making sure it was the right fit. I love your chain though, do you have stats?

I've narrowed my desire down to a 1.25-1.5 wheat chain in 14K I think. But like I said... wanted to be sure before buying anything so I haven't pulled the trigger.

I adore your necklace T-gal. Wear it in the best of health!

I'd love a wheat 16 or 17 inch chain. Mine is currently an 18 inch, 18K chain. It's solid, feminine, without being delicate and I like that it doesn't detract from the piece. But I loved a lot of the chopard chains...little pendants paired with a strong chain made for a great look.

I love the VCA chains too...but they start at around 1000, I think? So, erm, no.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Here is another Simon G piece with butterflies: http://www.kranichs.com/products/Simon-G/neckpiece-3763 I have to say that I absolutely love the pendant that you showed us in your first post

ETA: I didn't read the entire thread. Many congrats on choosing that gorgeous pendant!

Oh dear. And here I didn't think I had anything on my wishlist. I am completely and madly in love with the beachstone pendant and ring. Gorgeous!

T-Gal - I think you made the right choice! I couldn't find anything worth posting, so I just sat back and watched. I think the butterflies have a wonderful sentimentality, and the pendant is feminine, but still really substantial. Love it!

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

It's beautiful Tgal and it looks perfect on!

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Very substantial pendant. I thought it was smaller from the stock picture. Look great on you.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Thanks all!

QT, it's a little less than an inch in diameter...about the size of a quarter, but doesn't seem as big since it's broken up by the bezel. I wore a Tiffany pendant that was 3/4 inch on a 18 inch chain and it was a bit small for what I was looking for in the end, so this doesn't seem that big to me, but I know it's not dainty!

The appearance changes depending on what I'm wearing. In the pic, it's a small V opening, which makes it look bigger. If I have wider scoop neck, or sundresses, it appears a lot smaller.
