Jeff White Sapphire - the rough is in shipping!!!! EEEEK!

OK PSers, I'm going nuts!

Jeff has e-mailed me to say the rough for my 2.5ct (give or take) sapphire is in shipment!

He'll know once he starts cutting, but he expects it to come out at approx 7mm x 9mm.

So now I'm really having a hard time. I started playing with my AutoCAD and drafted up a rough layout of the ring (to replace the one I lost...long story!)

10 x .10 pointers surrounding the 7mm x 9mm....

DO YOU THINK I'M BEING AN IDIOT BY PRINTING IT OUT AND TAPING IT ONTO MY FINGER?? I did the plain oval with RB's. Will also do one of the oval with baguetts on the side like my avatar....decisions, decisions!

Funny you should say that about just the RB''s.

My husband expressed an extreme dislike to the one with the baguettes. He rarely, if ever, comments about that kind of thing so I think I''m going to go with just the RB''s out of deference to his opinion. He IS the one who bought the 1st one and this is the replacement so I''d like him to be really happy with it.

I left the thing taped to my finger all night and felt really good "posing" (all by myself, of course!!!) in front of the mirror

I just looked at my hand tonight and realized I'd rinsed out the supper dishes with one of them taped to my finger....what a goof

I can hardly wait. Jeff wants to have a really good look at it to make sure he can get a big oval out of the rough. But he is very optimistic.

I thought you couldn''t export rough from Sri Lanka...

I have no idea. I only know it is a "Sri Lankan" stone, but perhaps he''s purchased it from someone who has stock elsewhere....

I just got home and re-read my answer, Pandora.

Perhaps I should have answered this way: "Jeff has arranged shipment of a piece of Sri Lankan rough".

So I don''t have any details on how/where it''s actually shipping from, and, I don''t really know the rules about exporting either.

Don''t worry - my interest is because I''m going there for my honeymoon in October and have scheduled a couple of days in Ratnapura specifically to look at rocks and I was keen to bring some rough back as well as cut stones!

I did this too! I have a little oval the same dimensions as my pad that I keep on my desk at work. When we were in the planning stages and then the long, LONG wait for the ring, I would stick it on every now and again. My FI thinks I''m a little nuts. (Good nuts, but nuts.)

I think Sri Lanka prohibits the export of rough. Either way, Jeff will cut you a beautiful sapphire.

I''ve just heard from Jeff White, and it is a native cut stone that he''s going to recut. It arrived on Friday. I have no pics yet, but Jeff said it''s a bit lighter than he had expected.

So the waiting continues, perhaps the search as well.

I have yet to see a pic so will see...perhaps Jeff''s idea of "lighter than he''d expected" is different than mine. The good thing is that because it''s already cut, the colour we see is the colour it is...
