Let it all hangout -- The Grumpies, whinies, complainies Get It Off Your Chest Thread....

Same in this house, and this is being used instead of governing by one group. Again. How many billions will be wasted this time? How many will go hungry?
The corruption behind this baseless vengeance in defense is one of the most shameful instances of miscarriage of duty in our collective history. Worldwide embarrassment.

You guys hang in there because going to be bumpy and ugly. Like the herp.

I have to work tomorrow unfortunately.

Yup, you too! It gets old, real old.
My only hope is that every American understands that there was no need for this. None.

A nasty side effect of covid that I fear will continue for a long time is the inability of retailers to pack their goods sufficiently to ensure stuff arrives intact or useable. I've lost count of the number of packages I've received these past 2 years where the contents were damaged due to crappy packing.

Yesterday I received from Brilliant Earth, the bezel station diamond necklace I bought to soothe my psyche after the washing machine drama. Website said a free pair of lab created diamond studs was included with purchase. When I opened the box that the necklace came in, the entire thing was knotted. It took me an hour to get the knots out of the chain. And instead of diamond studs, I got silver balls about the size of 8.5mm pearls. I actually like the silver earrings and had planned to give away the diamond studs anyway.

After I'd wrestled with the knots for 30 min. I called BE and the response was that it was the fault of FedEx, they'd send me a return label and they would replace the necklace and send the correct earrings. I said the knots weren't FedEx's problem but a packing problem as the necklace came loose in the box and there wasn't anything in the box, such a tissue paper, to keep the necklace from being tossed around during shipping/handling and what guarantee could she give me that a replacement would be packed better. I also said I didn't appreciate the bait and switch on the studs. All she said was she'd generate the return label and pass along my concerns. To top it all off, there was a hole on the side of the box near the top that looked like it was deliberately made by someone trying to see what was inside even though there was nothing on the outside to indicate it came from a jeweler.

After the phone call ended I decided to try again to unknot the chain because I was skeptical the 2nd time result would be any better. My method was to stab the knots with the tip of a ball point pen (yeah, I know) until they loosened. The ink washed off and the necklace is lovely.

The evil eye I ordered from Angara is supposed to be here this week and I'm curious as to whether I'll have another knotty problem to deal with. If that happens, ya'll know I'll complain about it here.

I found that necklaces that are easily become knotted are prone to knotting. Something in the design. The Cheap gold link necklaces I bought in the 1970s and 80s always kinked up or knotted.

I untangle knotted chains using 2 long straight pins, one in each hand.

Why didn't I think of that!? Ugh, smacking myself in the head while calling myself an idiot.

Why didn't I think of that!? Ugh, smacking myself in the head while calling myself an idiot.

I just went through an "unknotting" experience. The chain's links are super fine and narrow, and straight pins didn't work as their end points were too large. I finally found some very fine quilting needles, put some olive oil on the knot, and with the very fine, narrow, needles, was able to get the knot out. I almost gave up though. Glad you were able to do it with a pen!

A friend moaned about two free-to-attend events, the first one being a market day and the second being an event involving cooks from different parts of the world.

The Market Day was only 10:00 to 16:00 and did not cover lunch and open long enough for dinner.

The cooks for the world food event were asked to make 100 bite-size taster portions, and apparently that's not enough.

When challenged about how long the food vendors would have to be on their feet for much longer than just 10:00 to 16:00, and whether this person would consider doing that him/herself, I did not receive a response.

When challenged about how many domestic kitchen can cater for big quantities, again, I did not receive a response.

This is from someone who relies on his/her OH to do the cooking at home!

DK :roll2:

Ok, here's the comparison (see my post #2343) between packaging from Brilliant Earth and Angara which arrived today. Not only is the Angara packaging top notch, the box was scented and the necklace box has a led light. The promised free garnet studs were included too. Angara necklace $950; Brilliant Earth $1700.

P.S. Not only did Angara afix the necklace properly in the box, they placed the the excess chain in a little baggie so it wouldn't tangle during shipping,

I did my good deed for the day. I met the neighbors finally because I put out their chicken coop before it could light the trees and their house on fire, just now. Total fireball. Burnt to a crisp.
They didn't even have a long enough hose- so I got mine.
Good thing is the chickens are fine!
You know, I think maybe I'll buy them a nice 100 ft hose for a housewarming gift.

So! How's everybody's Wednesday going?

I must know more! How do you think the fire started?

Are you like me when you avert disaster by pure chance, and think afterward "what if...I hadn't looked in that direction just then, or if I had left the house a couple of minutes sooner and was in that intersection then, etc? I mean, what made you notice the coop on fire?

Wow good job @ItsMainelyYou, thank God you were there to put the fire out. Also so glad the chickens are okay!

I thought I was doing great having already been to Aldi to get stuff for dinner but you have me beat for winning today ;)2

Heat lamp.
My DD had just left for the bus and I had gone out the back to let the dog out and I saw fifteen foot flames up into the trees on their property from over the fence. It looked like a pyre. I didn't really think other than 'Ooooh sh*t'. I just boogied.
If it had gone another few minutes it would've caught their house and the trees.
There was a propane tank less than fifteen feet away. It could've have been really bad. Really bad. I don't think they fully understood the gravity of the situation. They're very young. I had to point it out that if this fire had reached that tank, there'd be no house.
Glad I have some experience under pressure.
I'll have the delayed anxiety freakout over it tonight or tomorrow and it'll manifest as a reflexive check in that direction for the rest of time:lol:

The Keurig coffee maker showed the alert that it needed cleaning.
DH is the only one who uses the Keurig thing, but of course he asked me how to do it.
I said "Just run vinegar through it".
Well.......as you can imagine, he proceeded to dump the whole jug of vinegar in there.
And then he was mad at me 'cause I didn't explain *exactly* how to do it.

Sorry, funny not funny.

Sorry, funny not funny.

I try to encourage him to do more cooking and other kitchen activities.
I just didn't think it was something that needed much explanation.....
But when I try to woman-splain something to him, he thinks I'm being bossy.

Ugh what a waste of a jug of vinegar @stracci2000, I love vinegar for all kinds of things so it would drive me crazy if this happened.

Maybe write out directions, specifically, like a recipe with measurements????

I said "Just run some vinegar through it", then I went out to the garage, headed to work.
Something told me that he was adding too much vinegar, so I went back in the house.
He had filled the plastic reservoir full of vinegar, using most of the jug. Actually, only 1-2 cups is needed
I stopped him just before he hit the start button! So we saved the vinegar.

I hate waste, too. And vinegar costs 2x more these days!

But on the plus side, he vacuums and does all the yard work and household repairs, so I shouldn't complain!

My life is very challenging right now. Mom came to stay a few days (brother in tow) after outpatient surgery and she has been here a month and doesn't want to leave. It's complicated.

My most precious dog blew out her ACL on her right hind leg 2 days ago and we will be scheduling surgery as soon as the vet can get it together. Made even worse that she has done poorly in the past under anesthesia and I worry (sick with worry) that we will lose her. She is absolutely my best friend in the world. Previous cardiology tests have been fine but the vet wants us to go another round for thousands of dollars and we don't have a choice but to go through the process. It's a money grab but we will go through it to make sure she gets what she needs. Seeing her in pain right now is a knife in my heart.

If it wasn't for my husband I don't know where I would be right now.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having a challenging time. I hope everything goes well with the vet. I know what the fear and pain feels like and I hate that you’re going through that. Do you have a Venmo or cashapp? I would love to help out if I can

They need a brooder plate! Heat lamps are BAD. Rent-a-coop has a nice one. Others on Amazon are heat plates for adult chickens. So much safer!

Yes!
I'm not sure they'll continue. Honestly, I'm not sure they have the time or capability right now to care for animals in the first place. The good news is they have people that can take the pullets(who have flocks and experience).
I did offer to help them with setup and care tips if they decide to do so in the future.
Without getting into specifics, I think it best they don't at this time.

Thank you @clarity1264 - that is so incredibly kind and caring. It really touches my heart that you would offer this. You are a wonderful person.

Hubby and I can afford the surgery and I can hopefully recoup some of the costs by selling off my pearl collection.

The good news today is that my dog is walking naturally again without a limp. I will get more advice from the vet concerning surgery but at least today I feel that the sense of urgency has been reduced a bit.

Thank you again. :)

I did something to my rotator cuff... in my sleep. No joke.

At first I though it was a heart attack since my arm hurt so much and the pain traveled to my neck, but after four days it would be the slowest heart attack in history so after popping aspirin like pez for 96 hours I used my medical degree from GUMS (Google University Medical School ) to narrow it down to tendonitis, bursitis, or a rotator cuff injury and then selected the last one.

Whatever it is... YOWCH.
