this is style of dress that I love. I am looking at having an outdoor wedding and I think that this would be perfect.

What do you think? The one draw back is I wish it had shear sleeves, kind of like fairy wings.

Does something like that exist. Here is the picture I could get. And if you want to see the front here is the site www.ristarose.com it is the beatrice.

hmm. i thought I already posted these over here earlier.. but I wanted to post the model picture of my ACTUAL wedding gown on this thread. I had thought my gown was Forever Yours 42202. But I realized the price was off (too low). So i finally bothered to ask my bridal shop today who makes my gown (I had never asked because I thought I knew!). And it turns out it is Symphony Bridals style S1197. Here are the pics of it. This model is shaped much more like me than the FY model so I like these pictures much better!

Cute, isn''t it? I love my gown!!

esperanza - this is luvthatsparkle''s gown that she posted back on like page 3

I know its not exactly the same style dress, but it has those sleeves! You could maybe get some sort of custom one made..

You know I tried on a dress similar to yours before. It''s very pretty and I love it, but my FI like the one from davids bridal better. He didn''t like the all over lace look, says it''s look too old fashion. So I got the davids bridal one instead since they are basically the same silhouette and I love the way both of them looked on me. I saw your knottie bio with you in your dress, you look so pretty.

I know I am late, but congrats NJC on your dress. It looks gorgeous.

I love the Justine McCaffrey too. Those prices are crazy
Thanks yanekie! I ordered it last saturday and it will be here the first week in May. Now i just need to hit the diet hard... or at least the sit-ups.

I''ve been thinking about getting the gloves too... it gives it such a nice complete look.

MS - I have to agree that model (for once) does look good in your dress. Does that wrap come with the dress?

NJC- yes, the wrap is included with my dress. I don''t know what I''m going to do with it though, if anything. I''m wearing that loooong veil so I think the wrap would be overkill.

It would be nice to use it in a shadow box or something like that. How about a table runner? Although that might need to be a big table. You could use it to cover a scrap book or photo album from the wedding. Or just save it and place over your baby''s crib (if and when you have one) as neat little swag on the wall?

The bridal person at the salon where my friend got her stuff told her, tradition was to save your veil and put it over your childrens cribs... ive never heard of anything like that before.

ohhhh.. I love the idea of putting it over a babies crib. Its making me teary-eyed thinking about it.. (Have I mentioned how i''m going to BAWL through my entire wedding day? I cry looking at readings, thinking about songs for the reception, even thinking about my dad walking me down the aisle or the father/daughter dance.. cried yesterday looking at valentines cards in hallmark.. and when my best friend finally got her wedding dress fitted properly.. I''m a mess).

I''ve never heard of putting the veil over a crib either. I think I''d like to preserve my gown and veil (since I''m so mad that my grandmother didn''t preserve her gown..) but i like the shawl over the babies crib.. because its special.. but I probably won''t really use it for my wedding day.

Melissa - If you didn''t already have such an incredible veil, you could use that wrap like a mantilla! I agree, that with your veil it is a little much... You could take the wrap and turn it into bouquet ribbon or something... or a hankie (sew some of the edge lace onto a plain men''s hankie?) You know, since it comes with it anyways!

I know you''re thinking of taking the veil off for your reception, so you could still use the wrap then if you want a litle cover-up. There''s some article on The Knot about hair brides versus veil brides - I''m definitely a veil bride!! I want to wear that veil the entire night! So I''m glad it''s just a fingertip length so I don''t have to bustle it! You seem to be more of a hair bride, but your FMIL is a veil bride - LOL!!

JC - My orignal idea was to turn it into a veil before I found my veil too. When the girls in the bridal shop were putting the wrap on me.. I was kind of like..hmm.. that looks dumb.. So I immediately thought of doing differnt things with it. The veil was the first thing that popped into my mind. The other thing that my mom suggested was to take the lace and make it into my garter. But if i did that I''d have to be SURE i didnt want to use it at all..

I am actually really torn about what to do with my veil for the reception. The more I think about it the more I want to wear it the whole night, because I LOVE it so much.. but feel like it would look silly bustled. I could just throw it over my arm but that could get annoying to carry the whole night. That is a good idea about the wrap for the reception though.. although again.. it would probably just get in my way!

Well, here is part of it. It will be 3 years in March....pretty farty compared to the hot dresses you ladies are showing, but I'm a full figured gal LOL with a big pair of hooters and I got married in the winter ... sleeves were a must.
I loved it. It is almost white. The beading was amazing. It was actually a two piece with a slim a-line skirt with almost no train. It was by my fashion goddess Carolina Herrera- I loved it. If I was a petite fleur, I probably would have went with a different look...but it looked good on me so that was #1.

Anyhoo....Love the dress MelSue. Is right up my alley!!!

moremoremore - Your wedding dress looks beautiful. I completely understand wanting to be covered up, especially in winter time! From what I can see of your dress it looks gorgeous and extremely sophisticated and elegant!

Thanks! WHen I got married, there were almost no sleeved dresses out there. LessLessLess, my alter ego, wanted a strapless, fitted, sexy dress LOL

MMM- I really like your dress. I want to get married in the winter season, and am not a fan of my arm, chest, back- besides being a tad larger than I wouls like, I also have scars from nervous habit of scratching constantly. It is amazingly hard to find a dress that covers- sleeves are a must, with higher neck and back as want to haves.

moremoremore, you have lovely eyes

Oh, and I love your dress.

Thanks guys...
LOL...like I told sevens- I did my own makeup, can''t you tell? LOL (actually, I did do my own makeup)...
Jenwill- there are some out there! And remember....they can add sleeves, raise a neck line, etc...to a lot of dresses out there! You''ll find *it*!

Jenwill- Here is an awesome dress by youlin ny (not sure what style you are into though).... Here is a perfect example- they can fiddle with the sleeves to make them shorter or just fitted (I don''t love the bell sleeves)....

youlin.jpg

And there are dresses like these- Plus you could no doubt take a strapless dress from a designer and have them add an overlay from another dress from that designer...only danger is not being able to try it on and see it before it's done. My friend had to have a vera wang and they didn't have any with sleeves....so they were going to make her an attached wrap...well, the dress came in and the dress maker was like- are you crazy- you can't do that. So it was a trauma that wasn't helping two weeks before the wedding. She ended up going strapless and I have to say, she lost about 70 lbs and looked great. Only problem is she hates all of her pictures and keeps focusing on her arms.

Here is my dress. I think the pic does no do it justice, but I just love it. Does anyone have any thoughts on jewelry?????????

Okay, so I''m posting my "dream" dress... Lazaro... sigh... However, it is a ballgown silhouette so it probably won''t work with my 5''0" frame. I haven''t actually started shopping yet because, for right now, this dress is my inspiration when I''m at the gym and if I find out that I for sure cannot wear it, then I will be so disappointed and I don''t want to lose my motivation....

Thanks for the suggestions sparkler & blueroses!! It gives me hope that I will be able to find something I love that is flattering as well!!

And, I''ve been thinking that... well, even at my "thinnest" I was not really well-toned, so if I really get more disciplined with my workouts I will feel much better about my curves... And, I''ve got about 15 months to accomplish that... As an example, here is a pic w/ my 2 (much taller) cousins ~ I''m wearing an X-Small top and a size 1/2 pants right there but I''m not toned at all so I think I still look kind of "thick"... Oh, and that was just a few months after a boob job, so they''ve "settled" down a bit since then...

teebee - You can wear a ballgown even if you''re short! My best friend is 4''11" and her dress is I guess technically a-line, but its VERY full and she''s wearing it with the very full crinoline so its very ballgown like. I just went to her final fitting with her the other day and it looked BEAUTIFUL on her! I cried..

YAY!! Thanks MelissaSue ~ that totally renews my hope!!! I also thought, although it''s hard to tell from the photo, that the skirt doesn''t look quite as full as some of the other ballgown dresses I''ve seen... I guess I''ve realized that what matters most is what I love... I never have really gotten hung up on what I, as a short girl, should or shouldn''t wear before so why the heck should I start now?!?! Plus, if any of you have ever visited the "petite" section of any department store I swear, you''d think that short women are supposed to dress like 8 year olds!!! I''ve never seen so much juvenile looking pastels (and elastic waists!?!? WTH?!?!) as I did in the petite department of an otherwise very nice store the other day... Blech!!! Anyhow, that''s totally off subject... sorry...

teebee- I know what you mean about the petite section in stores. They''re pretty bad. My FMIL''s favorite store is petite sophisticate.. and everytime I go in there.. I''m just like.. wow.. there is NOTHING here I would buy!

By the way, I don''t think you look "thick" in that picture you posted. I think you look sexy!!! You probably were trying to say you''re not the little stick that most people think that a size 1/2 is.. but thats just because you have curves... I''ve heard Pilates is AMAZING for toning up though!

We alll have our little irks about our bodies mine is my stomach. I''m 5''6" and when I was a senior in high school I weighed 108 lbs and I STILL had a flabby belly. Its completely genetic as my mom and my sister have the same problem. I''ll never see 108 lbs again, my goal is to get down to about 115 for the wedding (i''ve been lingering around 125 lately), but I''m hoping that maybe if I get working on pilates i can flatten out the belly area a bit!

The dress you posted is beautiful! I think it will look great on you! Seamstresses can work MIRACLES so don''t get too discouraged until you try the dress on and even if its not perfect, its likely it will be able to be altered so that it it IS perfect. When my friend gets married (less than 2 months til her wedding!) I can finally post pictures of her in her gown for you girls!

Hey Teebee, if you are looking at a Lazaro, I wouldn''t worry AT ALL about what kind of dress would normally be the most flattering for you. The amount of detailing and care that is put into the design of his work, makes the dresses pretty much flattering on everyone.

I''m only a few inches taller than you and thought I couldn''t wear a ballgown either. But I tried on a few by Richard Glasgow and one by Lazaro and they looked great... I was really surprised!

Hey MMM, in the words of Nicole Richie:

"That''s HOT!"

Thanks for the ideas MMM! I really like the overlay ont he first one you posted....I am saving that pic to my ''future ideas'' folder, so that if I cannot find one already made ilek that, i can perhaps have the overlay made for the dress i do find! Again, thanks for the help!

Teebee- I think anyone can wear a well made ballgown- it is the fit up top that really makes the difference. When something is made to fit, with no extra looseness, it just amkes a smaller wearer look like a petitie princess, not like they are dressing up in mom''s clothes.

I love the petite section at Ann Taylor- it is all of teh regular line, just made for petitie sizes- no change in colors, or prints, just smaller versions of the larger clothes.

MMM, I actually just love that sillouette. I am so over all the strapless--it is AMAZING on so many, but I have insecurites about my upper arms and have just never seen myself in a strapless dress--but I ADORE the neckline and 3/4 sleeves on yours--if I am a winter/fall wedding, I may go that route.

MS, as JC said, how about a mantilla? OR....you could use the wrap as a Christening blanket for a baby? Kind of like the crib idea, but specifically used for baptisms? So pretty.

Teebee, a dear friend of mine is 4''9" and has an EE/F chest and had a big old ball gown skirt--and looked AMAZING...so it can be done.

I love all these dresses!! Someday I''ll come join this chat for real whenever I stop "waiting"....

Oh wow ~ you guys have got me so excited over this dress!!!! I emailed a picture of it to my mom last night because I am just so completely enamored with it!!!

So, here''s my newest dilemma: I was browsing around ebay last night... and there is a listing for this same exact Lazaro gown that I''ve been salivating over (item #8167901592; link). Anyhow, the funny part is that she is 5''2" and wore 1.5" heels ~ I am 5''1/2" and was planning on wearing 2.5"-3" heels (yes, I know that''s high, I''ve got steel feet from working retail for soooo many years). Anyhow, it''s got a little wear & tear, but at 1/3 the price of a new gown... I''m very tempted to try it and see if it could work for me (otherwise, to be honest, this is definitely my dream gown, but I have no idea how I would pay for it...). I''ve emailed her to see if she will send me some more pics of the dress and a pic of something that could verify authenticity, like the invoice. Also, I''ve got a friend that works at a bridal salon that carries Lazaro so I''m going to talk to her this week as well...

Oooooh! I have a friend who bought a Reem on EBay, it was great! She had tried it on at a bridal store and new exactly what size she needed. She had the seller take photos of exactly the ''wear and tear'', and to verify that the only alterations had been to the length of the gown. She was willing to work with a gown that had been let out, but didn''t want one that had been taken in as she was unsure of what the fabric would look likewhen taken out again.

Anywho, long story not any shorter....her dress was perfect! The little bit of wear and tear was basically some dinginess on the underside of the train, and a spot that her dry cleaner was able to remove.
