teebee- DO IT!! you HAVE to get it! How can you pass on it if it is 1/3 of the original cost?

blueroses - I already have a GORGEOUS veil, but I love the christening blanket idea too.

Here''s mine for an outdoor, informal wedding this July.

IslandJuly05Dress.jpg

Oh, IslandDreams your dress is so beautiful!!! Perfect for an outdoor summer wedding ~ I was looking at something along those lines when we were considering a destination wedding in Mexico.

JennWill ~ that is a good point about buying a dress that has been let out rather than taken in... this dress has been taken in, but I''m asking her to verify her measurements & where exactly the measurements were taken from because, if they are correct, then it might not need much altering for me...

MelissaSue ~ I know, I keep thinking "how can I NOT get this dres?!?!" I mean, it''s a dress that I will wear for 7 hours at the most, so even if it is not in absolutely perfect... A bigger question is "how could I possibly justify spending $3000 on a new dress that I''m going to wear for 7 hours" so I think I will probably go for it... The worse thing that can happen is that it doesn''t work out for me and I have to relist it on ebay & take a hit... A wedding is a big financial hit any way you slice it so, might as well give it a shot!!

Here is my dress. I think the pic does no do it justice, but I just love it. Does anyone have any thoughts on jewelry?????????

Kelli
Well, you could either go with something dainty and CZ, or go with the color scheme and get jet jewelry. I woudl definitely stay away from anything too ornate, since the dress carreis itself well in that department...doesn''t need anything to dress it up, maybe just a little something to compliment it....

I feel like I shouldn't be here, but you guys are totally the ps version of wedding pron and I LOVE IT!!!! I can't help peeking...no willpower whatsoever!!! anyway, i forgot who was loking but I just ran across this f=gorgoues lace gown with sleeves in INSTYLE weddings...the caption was

Chantilly lace with sequins and silk charmeuse lining, Claire Pettibone, $6,450 (yikes! but very pretty!) Her website has a few other pretty dresses with sleeves if anyone else is interested...I tried to get the pics but couldn't..not internet savvy enough I guess!

MS-I love the bassinet canopy idea. My friend had her veil made into a a pillow for the bassinet and also had it incorporated into her baby''s christening gown. more ideas!

oh my gosh ginger.. I have been drooling on that claire pettibone dress for WEEKS. I LOVE IT. There is a pcture of it in that issue on a model too. Its an ad I think. Its soo gorgeous. And it reminds me of my grandmas dress too! If only I had seven grand to burn on a dress.

Here it is!!! drooooooooool. I guess I don''t REALLY want to wear sleeves.. but it would be such a vintage look.. its funny. I don''t really like vintage anything.. except wedding dresses. Sorry for the picture quality. My scanner is just about useless.

I love this thread. Never even heard of claire pettibone before and suddenly I''m in love with her dresses! Ginger, that is a gorgeous gown that you posted!!

I love your wedding dress! It is so elegant I can hardly stand it. Carolina Herrera''s dresses are sublime.

Yep, that''s me!! It is too totally perfect so I had to bid ~ I was outbid on it earlier but whoever it was retracted their bid saying they hadn''t been able to reach the seller (bogus because I''ve gotten like 6 email responses from the seller). Then it looks like someone bid it right up to my max bid this afternoon.... (does that seem a little fishy to anyone else?) I''ve got some mixed feelings though since I saw my friend last night that works in a bridal salon ~ it turns out the gown is not quite as expensive as I''d thought so I''m conflicted about paying more for a brand new dress that hasn''t been worn and hasn''t been altered for anyone but me... She said it will take about 4 months to get the dress in so I have plenty of time ~ so I will be hitting the gym almost daily and if I end up winning the ebay gown I will still have time to see if it will work for me, if not, I will relist it on ebay and order one from the salon.

This isn''t my wedding dress but I love this dress. I hope to find something similar (and affordable) or maybe having it custom made. It is really similar to the youlin ny dress posted earlier except with 3/4 sleeves (which I think someone mentioned)

The picture, believe it or not, is from Princess Diaries 2.

PD2 Dress.jpg

Oh yeah one more thing, I found out this dress was just made by the costume designer for the movie. :)

awww. that princess diaries dress is beautiful! Love it! It is definitely very princess like.. but in a classic, elegant way.

Here''s the one I''m leaning towards, though I haven''t committed yet. I wasn''t even going to look at gowns until I''d lost some weight, but I got talked into it.

They are all so flattering, but I still want to lose some weight before deciding, I don''t look quite like the model.

Please excuse the sheen of sweat on me, trying on dresses was a lot more work than I''d expected!

Also, the pic from the front on the model is actually a slightly different dress - doesn''t have the band at the top, otherwise the same, and same veil.

the_dress_collage.jpg

Oops, I meant different veil. The one I''m actually wearing is the one that goes with the dress...it is like a double train because it''s longer than the train of the dress, but bustles for the reception.

Do you guys think this would work for a garden wedding? I''m torn because there''s another one I tried on that is more "gardeny", but I think this one is more elegant and a bit different.

blue chica - My friend who just got engaged LOVES that dress. do you happen to have a pic of it on you that shows the whole thing? How much is it? I heard $1200 but on sale for $1000. Is that true?

Also.. is there different colors of accents on that dress? She thought they were pinkish, but they look REALLY gold on that picture of you!

And what is that about the veil? It looks soo pretty. Its cathedral length? You can't tell in the picture! NEED MORE PICTURES!!
:)

Its a beautiful dress though! I love it and you look great!

I would say the accents are more gold than pink, although I suppose there are slight pinkish tones to it. I don''t think the accents come in different colors, just the dress itself comes in white and ivory. I''m in ivory.

The dress is $950, the veil is $250

, and the tiara is $150.

Here''s a pic of me in it full length...I''ll post some more that show some more of the details too.

Closeup of the details on the dress.

The back of the dress...the veil is so long...I wouldn''t call it cathedral length though.

A little more detail of the back.

thank you soo much! I can show your pictures to my friend, right? She will be very excited! There is not a davids near her or I that carry that dress.. But she realy wants to go try it on!
That dress is GORGEOUS!

teebee - did you get that dress?!?!! I LOVE IT!!!

Sure melissasue, I don''t mind you showing it to your friend. :)

blue chica, i love that dress and it looks great on you!

thanks so much again blue chica. For some reason seeing your pics of that dress really made my day... Hopefully they will for my friend when she sees them too!

Hey Kim, Thanks :) I just saw you''re in Malden...my first apt out of college was in malden...shared with the bridesmaid on the right!

MS - I''m here for you! Heck, if it gets you that excited, maybe it IS The Dress...though I still hold out hope that a discernable waistline would make a tulle dress possible.

What do you ladies think of gloves with that dress? FI loves gloves...me not so much, but I was thinking of wearing them as a gesture.
