I know it’s super bowl hahaa but I’d love to hear your thoughts about this amethyst and what setting I should choose? I have no clue. It’s an Asscher cut.
Very pretty. I love the cutting. Do you have a side view to see the depth? By the way, that’s more of a square brilliant cut than an asscher. Asschers have cut corners and a windmill effect. They’re more of step cut.
if you want a more icy look, pick a white metal. If you want to bring out more of the purple, pick rose or yellow gold.
what size is the stone?
I think it would look pretty set with the points facing NSEW, like a kite. The cutting makes it look like a snowflake in that orientation.
They call it a rose de France amethyst. I don’t like personally like deep purple. This color is more interesting to me.Very pretty, but are you sure it's an amethyst? It looks pretty blue to me, and as far as I know, "amethyst" only describes purple quartz.
Thank you. Why isn’t it a daily stone? Is it soft? I agree about the corners needing to be protected. It is a very interesting color! I don't think I've ever seen it, though the image makes it difficult to decipher. I can't wait to see it on your hand.
As for setting, I've never set any of my amethyst and don't have any similar cuts. The corners definitely need to be protected. I wore the checkerboard facets off of my gifted ring prior to knowing amethyst isn't a daily stone.

I'm familiar with rose de France amethyst. I would describe it as a pale lavender pink color. Maybe it's just the photo, but I am seeing your stone as a purplish blue, which is not a naturally occurring color in quartz. Could it be an iolite?
That is a stunning cut and if it is the same lavender-blueish shade as in the photo, unusual even for a Rose de France (I have one myself). A nice addition in the month of the Amethyst!
Very pretty. I've never seen an amethyst this shade. The cut really brings out the blue tones in the purple/blue range. Excited to see what you do with it! Are you going to make the ring a solitaire or have some sort of accent stones?
I got the stone tonight!! I really like it a lot. I love that it’s a light color. Hard to capture the color now as it’s nighttime. Will take pics in the daylight tomorrow.

Happy to hear you really like it so far. Hope you still love it in the morning
Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, so I think it will be fine as a daily stone.
Africa Gems has really good, deep purple amethyst with the most expensive going for around $60/ct. The color of your stone, while very beautiful, is not that of a typical amethyst, so I don't know of any pricing comparables.
Sometimes 'value' is determined by good marketing
Look at brown diamonds for instance
It just takes the right creative vision and a good marketing plan and a less well known or less popular colour sky rockets in value
Very true. Diamonds, in general, for sure. My husband keeps telling me that about diamonds but I don’t care! I still love them hahha. Call me a sucker!
