Now I really did it :((

Happy birthday @missy!
Wishing you a wonderful year full of surprises and good health!

Hi @Austina -

No no - I did see it, but I can't see an explanation /definition of what "bolo" means. I googled it and it said something about knife-edged, or a language in Asia - but - I'm not getting it. Is it a brand? I've just never heard of it before.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear @missy! I hope you have a fabulous day and a wonderful year ahead. oxo

@mrs-b The bolo is the slider mechanism on the bracelet, the chain is attached either side of the diamonds, then the chains are passed through ring, which has a silicone (I think) grommet, allowing it to be adjusted

Happy birthday, @missy I hope you had a wonderful day.

HI:

@missy hope your birthday was great!!!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@Austina I am glad you are feeling better and had a lovely lunch with Kate and John. Yes, a house guest with their own accommodations is perfect. My mom had a friend at work that used to make trifle, it was good.

@mrs-b I hope Tim’s tests go okay and you get some good news and can work on getting him better. Maybe @missy can give you my cell number and I’ll let you know where to see my videos. I kind of hate to put links here. Is your back feeling better?

@missy you are busy for the next few days. Glad you got in some cycling and ice cream though. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and you have a lovely tine with friends this weekend.

I only worked about seven hours today. We are going to dinner tonight with one of Marty’s former clients who is in town this week.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy FriYAY! Thank you for all the lovely and warm birthday wishes. Loved getting all the phone calls, texts and messages yesterday. Very sweet and much appreciated. It was a wonderful birthday despite running errands. My DH and I spent the day together and for me that is everything. Even though we basically do that every day (spend the day together) lol. Thank you again XOXO

@Austina hope your weather cools off soon. I am not complaining because all in all it hasn't been too terribly hot here though starting Sunday hot is back. Summer is still here and I will take it

@springerspaniel tysm... How are you and how is your summer going?

LOL @marcy TY and you only worked 7 hours. Glad you are enjoying work and also glad you are taking some time for yourself :)

@canuk-gal TYSM and hope you are having a lovely week

Oh I love that! Birthday week! Any big plans for the celebration? A new bauble perhaps?
Bear is laying with me and I gave him a hug from you!! ❤️

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Tim's procedure went well and was issue-free. It takes a week to get the results back. During the procedure they saw many, many nodules in his lungs, and took biopsies both there, and from his lymph nodes, which were inflamed and significantly enlarged. Not good.

They're trying to get a definitive diagnosis so they don't accidentally miss something, and so they can up his treatment significantly. He is too young and otherwise too healthy to have sarcoidosis this far advanced, and for everyone just to throw their hands in the air and say "Oh well - bad luck!" So we might be looking at increased medical treatments going forward. Yesterday's procedure was a general anesthetic - intubated, stopped breathing on his own - the full thing - and took longer than we had thought. Ended up being at the hospital almost 7 hours. I was very pleased, tho, to get him back in his own home yesterday afternoon.

It's possible all this might lead to an early retirement. We're not sure how extreme the treatments might be, but we *really* need to knock this out asap, before the damage to his lungs (which is what kills most people who experience fatal sarcoid) becomes irreparable.

David is here this weekend, just offering a bit of support and doing some thing I can't do with my back, and Tim can't do because of his procedure (mostly walking dogs!) - so it's lovely to have him. Good friends are the most precious gift, don't you think?

Hoping all the lovely NIRDIs are well. And hang in there, @Slickk! Don't look at the calendar!! ox

I had no idea! That's a really useful bit of information - thanks, @Austina!

Hello lovelies

Glad Tim’s procedure is done with, issue free, and he’s back home with you. Keeping everything crossed for the best possible outcome @mrs-b

I hope Greg’s appointment went well today, and you got some answers. 105 here ATM @missy, and it’s nearly 6pm  this weather is ridiculous.

ONLY 7 hours @marcy, you’re making me feel lazy, but honestly, by the afternoon, it’s just too hot to even contemplate doing anything

I feel :x2 on your behalf @canuk-gal, I find that man rude, condescending and obnoxious.

Lovely to see little Bear @Slickk, just as cute as ever. The kids here have already gone back to school.

Our plans changed today as our neighbour received some really bad news and needed to get a flight a.s.a.p. I’d just finished making the trifle when she called, so we’ll be eating it for a few days.

Don’t think we’re doing anything this weekend, have a great one lovely NIRDIs.

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy I hope Greg's appointment went well. I am so glad you had a lovely birthday and spending it with Greg is a perfect way to celebrate the day.

@mrs-b I am glad to hear Tim's procedure went well. Sending mega dust for some answers and plans on treatments for him. That's very nice of David to come help out.

@Austina I hate to hear your neighbors had some bad news. Wow, it's hot there. I was even hot today. I turned on the fan and cranked the AC down a little. Of course, it was because I baked some cookies.

I only worked 4 hours today. I met my SIL for lunch and we wandered around a few stores. She wasn't here at Christmas time so requested some of my candy cane cookies. We made them as icicles instead. They taste better without the red food coloring. Of course, baking in mid-afternoon did heat up the house.

Marty and my SIL left for a weekend camping trip. I stayed home because my allergies have been so bad this week that I figured going to the country would just make them worse. Weeds are one of my big triggers.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy Caturday Saturday!

@marcy hope Marty and his SIL have a fun camping trip and I am sorry your allergies are so bad this week. Good for you only working 4 hours lol. I love AC and would not want to live without it. The appointment went well thank you but no answers. So just monitoring. Living with uncertainty but that is the norm now so will take it one day at a time. Yummmm candy cane cookies :lickout:

@Austina wow that is hot. Here's hoping the heatwave breaks soon for you and stay cool in your pool. Best investment you could have made considering the crazy texas heat. Thank for you the good wishes for Greg. Much appreciated as always

@mrs-b good update and hoping the biopsy results are benign

@bling_dream19 happy weekend

@Slickk I hope August doesn't speed by and that the summer lasts for you. I know that feeling of having to go back to school and it isn't fun...all these decades later I remember that feeling so well

Hey everyone else. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are cycling today woohoo. Enjoy and be well. XOXO

Yup, that's right. You are seeing pelicans at the jersey shore. The whole world has gone upside down lol

Good morning, @missy! I thought I'd respond to all your gorgeous animal photos. ::)

This is my beautiful Ballin who, for some reason, is looking VERY concerned. I have no idea why. Maybe he thought David was going to pull me away during his morning cuddle! David took this about 10 minutes ago when I was just back from my morning walk.

And just to add - it's 9.30am and Ballin has already had 2 walks - as has Cirrus, of course. (We work on the "absolute parity" principle here!). These dogs are spoiled beyond belief - which, of course, makes me very happy.
PXL_20230812_130554605.jpg

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy phooey for waiting on answers. We know how patient I am, it is not fun. Glad you are going cycling today. Great shot of the pelicans on the beach, but it just doesn't sound as cool to say "get your pelicans in a row." I know, silly joke.

@mrs-b love the picture of you and Ballin. Of course, your fur babies should be spoiled.

Marty and Chris showed up about 11 this morning. He forgot a lens and this toothbrush. Both important things. They were the only ones there for the star party, but did see some stars and some meteors. And a lovely sunset.

I got another video done and ready for review. It's on the 2 eclipses coming up visible over North America. I was bored and did my Sunday lifting already too. I might do part of my Sunday laundry as well. I'll see. I've been watching the Star Trek Strange New Worlds series on Paramount Plus so might watch a few of those episodes instead of doing anything else.

Take care.
Marcy

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!

Have been riding most days--but today went for a walk....my DH wanted Tiger Ice Cream! LOL The weather has been very fine.

@mrs-b funny he does look very concerned!!! Such a darling pooch! Hoping for much health success for your DH.

@marcy toothbrush is a necessity! LOL

@Austina I could give you such a big hug. Suffice it to say, I was pretty "shocked". Thank you lovely. Sorry about your neighbours news. Keep cool!!

@missy LOL I texted my pal (who recently adopted her cat) about how the "pet wars" were going.....and she sent me a sweet photo of the dog and cat on the same bed.. Just takes time! (and some yelling I think) :lol-2:

Where is August going??????

cheers--Sharon

Good morning girls and happy Sunday!

@marcy haha you and me both girlfriend. Patience is not my strong suit. A toothbrush is very important I agree but it can be bought at so many stores...I would have just went to the nearest drugstore to pick one up but maybe they were close to home or were already missing you :)

We are seeing our friends Tuesday. A is an astronomer and he loves all the eclipses and takes lots of photos. We are all going to the aquarium that day. My idea. Who doesn't love an aquarium right?

@canuk-gal Aww and LOL. We have moments of peace intertwined with not so peaceful moments

@mrs-b awww that is such a sweet photo and Ballin looks quite regal in my eyes. Not concerned to me. But that is just my perception. He looks content and happy and very very distinguished :) Hugs to both Ballin and Cirrus

@bling_dream19 hope you are having a wonderful weekend

@Slickk hope all is going well...do you have any trips planned before the fall semester? My sister and BIL and nieces are visiting colleges now and next week and I cannot believe my niece is off to college in 2024. Where did the decades go? And wow, The cost. Outrageous. 80,000 a year and they will have both girls in college at the same time for a two year overlap. I feel sorry for my sister and BIL as they do not quality for any financial aid (which is ridiculous given their salaries) and I know they won't let the girls take out loans. They will never ever be able to retire but we will see how this plays out. I just do not envy them.

@springerspaniel hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer and all is going as well as possible

@rainwood hope you are getting everything accomplished you need to and all is going smoothly in anticipation of a wonderful visit with your loved ones. Oh and I was not able to resolve the issue and am so over this lol. Unfortunately I am in between a rock and hard place and must figure it out if it is at all possible. I do not get how this can be happening in the USA in 2023 and fear this is our future

Hello everyone else. We had a great cycling day yesterday and M and J celebrated my birthday with me albeit belated and gave us ice cream on the house. Very sweet. Literally and figuratively haha

If you look closely you can see the birthday candle flame...it was windy but the flame held for my wish :)

Screen Shot 2023-08-13 at 6.34.03 AM.png

May your Sunday be sweet and wonderful with peace and love. XOXO

Oh and forgot this photo from yesterday...so sweet :kiss2:

Hi NIRDI’s!

@canuk-gal a walk sounds like fun. I need to start getting out and doing that. I do have a walkway two sides of my house. I can’t believe it’s almost the middle of August. That other white stuff will be coming our way soon.

@missy Marty was camping in the country so he’d have to drive back to the city to get a toothbrush anyway. They had a nice time. Ooh, you’re seeing your astronomer friend on Tuesday. My latest video is on the two solar eclipses coming up soon. I am excited for them. The aquarium will be awesome. I look at my pictures from the Monterey aquarium frequently. Nice you got free ice cream to celebrate your birthday. Marty got some deer pictures too from his camping trip. Yours are always great.

I got up at 3 a.m. to watch for Perseid meteors. I watched for about 3 hours and didn’t see a single meteor. It’s clearing up now so will maybe go watch for about an hour starting at 10 p.m. tonight.

I had a quiet weekend with Marty and my SIL out camping. I finished all the episodes of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, even knit six rows on that afghan. It kind of bugged that thumb and wrist but not too bad. I plan on doing 4 rows tonight. I wrote another script for a video and not much else.

We all went to supper tonight and I got to use that great line “corks are for quitters” when the waiter asked us if he should leave the cork in case we didn’t finish the bottle of wine we ordered. He laughed.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

You're very welcome @canuk-gal. I can't abide unnecessary rudeness like that. So glad your weather has been fine and you've been able to get out and enjoy cycling and walking. I hope no tigers were harmed during the making of the ice cream

Lovely photo of Ballin giving you the side eye @mrs-b, dogs have such expressive faces don't they?

I'm really enjoying your videos @marcy, please remind me nearer the dates so I can try to see the eclipses. Oops to Marty forgetting his toothbrush and lenses. I'm sorry to hear that knitting is still causes you an issue, hopefully it'll ease up in time. This time next week we'll be meeting up!

What lovely photos @missy, the dear are just stunningly beautiful. Hope everything goes well today.

Quiet weekend for us, got up at 7am yesterday to water the garden (7-10am on a Sunday is our allocated watering slot) then we had a really lazy day, spent time in the pool, and generally lounged about.

I've already packed for Friday, easy when it's just for a few days.

:wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!

31C here!!! @Austina we could use your pool! Rode and walked today--warm for both! LOL about the tigers..... And of course got take out! Cant recall the last meal I cooked....

@marcy I'd be interested in watching your videos as well! Does one have to subscribe? How fun that you'll be meeting up with Austina next week! I'm jeali!

@missy you take really lovely photos. Cycle on!

howdy @mrs-b !

cheers--Sharon

GM girls and happy terrific Tuesday...just a quick post and run sorry. Lots to do

@marcy aww I am sorry you didn't get to see a single meteor despite the effort. TY for the compliment but you are the master of photography. I'm just an amateur phone photographer lol. Your weekend sounded peaceful and lovely. Good luck with the afghan I know it will be beautiful when you are finished with it

@canuk-gal TYSM. Appreciate your kind words. Though it would be difficult to take a not good photo with all the gorgeous scenery and wildlife around us

@Austina sounds like a purrrrfect weekend and have a great trip

We enjoyed cycling yesterday and of course furry babies and ice cream and all that good stuff. It was Milton's 3yo birthday too so a very fun day. Today we are meeting friends in from out of town and going to the aquarium so that will be fun. Despite the downpours right now.

Hello lovelies

Woohoo! 31 degs @canuk-gal, anytime you want to use the pool, come over! Henceforth, I shall be referring to a no cooking day as ‘doing a canu—gal’ Keep it up, you’re getting really good at it!

I hope you had a great time at the aquarium with your friends today @missy , I bet it was good to catch up after all this time.

We went in the pool first thing, then decided to go our to a shopping mall where it’d be lovely and cool inside. We didn’t end up buying anything, but did a canuk-gal and had lunch out, so no cooking for me today :D

Hope all the lovely NIRDIs are enjoying a peaceful time.

:wavey:

I’ll be back to reply but for now sharing photos from yesterday. I’m running late now cause I had to do labwork this morning and that’s a story in of itself lol. Cant make this stuff up

Anyway I hope you enjoy the photos

GM girls, happy terrific Thursday!

Another quick post and run as I have a medical appointment this AM and want to work out beforehand.

@Austina haha you did a canukgal...love it and glad you enjoyed a lovely lunch out and a peaceful day including a morning swim

@marcy hope you are getting to see all the stars and comets your heart desires and that your weather is cooperating. And glad you enjoyed a peaceful time and that Marty and his sister had a good camping trip. I agree toothbrushes and toothpaste are non negotiables. I wonder what they do on survivor? LOL

@Slickk happy Thursday! My niece has looked at Wesleyan, Amherst, BC, Barnard, Vassar and a few other colleges. It is so exciting and I hope she chooses the best one for her. I don't think she can go wrong. Anyway hope you are having a good week

@bling_dream19 dear sweet girl hope all is going smoothly

Hey everyone else. We had a good day yesterday albeit super busy. Labs in the AM- (where I could not pee for the urine analysis) blood and urine and the nephrologist ordered a lot of urine tests and I drank a lot but nada. Long story short Greg went back to the lab (30 minutes each way) with a fresh sample I was able to provide once we got home. I do not have shy bladder. I just could not pee lol.

Then Oliver started looking sick and refused to eat and I called my sister but forgot she was in Massachusetts. Then all of a sudden Oliver went back to acting "normal" and eating but omg that was stressful and we are watching him closely. It's a problem because all vets want the cats to get rabies shots and our indoor cats already got them once and I do not want them to get them again and I am not testing titres because their titres are likely non existent as they got the shots in 2019. And I do not want to put that poison in their bodies again. We had no choice at that time because the local vets would not treat them for ringworm without the rabies shots. Anyway that's the background and if we have to we will but I hope we don't have to

Then we went cycling and it was great. Greg had a late afternoon medical appointment where he got two biopsies done so we are waiting for those results. It was a busy day. Today I have an appointment with the gastro and then hoping we can go cycling. Another busy day on the horizon.

Enjoy a terrific Thursday and be well. XOXO

One last aquarium photo (for now haha)

HaHa forgot to share my “tatoo”

Notice the shark leggings which match. I made sure to wear my sharks at the aquarium lol

@missy wishing you luck with all the dr visits and labs. I do hope Oliver perks up for you. Poor baby.
What a fine selection of schools your niece has chosen to visit. My DD loved Vassar and we looked at similar schools. We liked Wesleyan too, but I think it’s so important to see the schools in session because some of them were very quiet and others were lively and fun. My dd played a college sport, so coaching and team played a large role in her choice. I’ll message you privately where my dd and ds ended up.
Also!!!! Lookie where we “spent a week there one afternoon,” as Harry Chapin would say (ifykyk). I do believe we are in your hood.

Eleanor's latest offering - she's working on painting realism via a digital medium. Isn't this fabulous? I think he's super majestic!

(Ignore me if I'm just being a proud mom...)

Snow leopard.png

@missy - I hope your labs come back with good results. Glad you still got to go cycling! And - AMAZING photos from the aquarium!! And - what is the super dark plum colored ice cream from Tuesday? And - is that strawberry (my fave!) next to it?

And @Slickk - it's good to see you out and about and enjoying life! Lovely photos. ::) Should I even ask when you go back to school?

@canuk-gal - good to see you getting some genuinely warm weather! Overcast and muggy here today, but only a high of 76, so not bad walking weather.

@Austina - still incredibly jealous of your pool! I've contacted 4 different companies for quotes this summer, and I cannot get ANYONE to respond at all! I'm a hair's breadth away from getting a blow up pool and calling it a day!! (not kidding)

@marcy - any meteors in the end? And I'm glad the afghan is progressing, tho I'm sorry your thumb and wrist are still aching.

Love to everyone else! Eleanor arrives on Monday - I could swear Ballin knows! Their love affair is mutual and ongoing!

NIRDI shout out!
