Now I really did it :((

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy I totally loved all your photos from the aquarium. It looks like a fun time. I sure enjoy the Monterey Aquarium when we were in California. I am anxious to finish that afghan so I can make myself a vest. I quit knitting for a few days, I stabbed myself with something in the palm of my hand - don't ask me how - so thought I'd let that get a bit healed before I knit again. It's not bleeding but I would hate to get something on the off-white yarn. Oh no, more lab work. Seems like that is all too frequent for you. And I'd probably die or get kicked off survivor - I need my modern conveniences. I hope Oliver is okay. Your shark "tatoo" is cute.

@Austina I am with you on rudeness. There's no excuse for it. The cashier I had at the grocery store was quite grumpy, I still kept a smile on my face and wished him a nice day. I hope he felt better as the day went on. I'll try to remind you of upcoming astro events. Yes, looking forward to lunch next week. I will probably see if my SIL wants to come with me. She's a lot like Marty so we get along well.

@canuk-gal you can just search for EarthSky on YouTube and probably at least 1/3 of the videos will be me. You'll be able to tell right away because I always start with "hi, this is Marcy". Thanks for the interest. I don't know if I can post links on here to YouTube or not. Sweet dreams tonight, after a long day.

@Slickk I hope you are doing well.

@mrs-b Eleanor's painting is amazing. See my info above to @canuk-gal on how to see my videos. And no, I didn't see a single meteor. Only in my imagination.

Now much new with me. My SIL likes time to herself, so she's not here today (so far). She stayed at her RV 2 days this week, so naturally I inquired what I did to irritate her, so I could do it again. She's probably bored of hanging around in the living room while both of us are working.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

That’ll be great @marcy, we’re really looking forward to Monday. All the competitors have arrived in Loveland, pretty much the same line up as Worlds, but at least the venue is indoors with tiered seating, so everyone will be able to see what’s going on. I hear it’s a lot better organised too! Ouch to stabbing yourself, hope it heals up quickly.

Love the photos from the aquarium @missy, sounds like you had a really fun time with your friends. I expect it felt good to feel ‘normal’ again. Yikes to more blood work, are these people vampires? Hope you get good results back soon. Wow to your niece applying to colleges already, time really does fly and I wish her every success in getting in to the college of her choice. That little rascal scaring you, I hope he’s feeling back to normal now.

It was pretty much like that here last year @mrs-b, we had to get on the schedule back in November 2021 in order to get the pool built last year. There’s quite a bit of activity going on here, our neighbour just finished their pool this week, and it was started months and months ago. Eleanor is so talented, that’s amazing!

Sounds like you’re having a lovely time @canuk-gal, we’ve been to Banff, many years ago, and it was lovely. Sleep well.

Had a busy couple of days getting everything sorted for our trip, I know we won’t be gone long, but I like to make sure everything is spick and span before we go and I have a clean house, clean bedding and clean towels to come home to. Fortunately we can get everything we need in our carryons, which are all packed, we’re checked in to the flight and hotel, just go to get up in the morning and go.

Will report in when we get to Denver

:wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!

Pouring rain here-- have not had much precipitation so it is welcome. Laundry day--and good day for it! Smoky tho. But I am not complaining as my city is not on fire. I continue to pray for all those affected.

@Austina enjoy your trip; I'm such you be pulling a few canuk-gal's eating out everyday!!

@marcy I enjoyed your video's! Nice to hear your voice!!!

@missy wishing your nieces all the success in getting into their school of choice! I hope Mr. Oliver is feeling better.

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

We’ve arrived in Denver, uneventful flight, just eaten and staggered up to our room. Already spotted some extremely large men (competitors) now just relaxing and watching some TV.

:wavey:

Good morning girls! Happy Caturday Saturday!

@marcy ouch, that is something I would do if I knitted that is lol. I hope you are healing well and a vest sounds lovely once you finish the afghan. Glad you are enjoying your SIL's visit and it sounds like a purrrfect way to visit. You have your space, she has hers and you still get to enjoy each other's company. Sweet. TY for liking my photos and same here. And also same about survivor. Not only would I not survive I wouldn't want to..I also need my modern conveniences. Hahaha I would never (want to) survive an apocalyptic event. NO thank you

@Slickk TY, I would love to hear all about your children's experiences and what their thoughts are. We are seeing my sister, BIL, nieces and parents soon. They are visiting next weekend and we are looking forward to it. Fingers crossed the weather behaves. Have a great weekend

@canuk-gal TY and yes Oliver is feeling all better. May that continue. No clue what happened. It was a momentary blip and I hope it stays away whatever it was. Weird. I too am keeping all those affected by the wildfires in my thoughts. So much tragedy and sadness all over the world. Heartwrenching

@Austina have a lovely trip. It is much cooler where you are now and I hope you are enjoying the weather. I am with you. It is nice to come back to a clean home after a trip. Thank you for the good wishes for my niece and Oliver. Exciting time for my niece but I wouldn't want to trade places lol. And yes lol vampires. But unfortunately it is a necessary evil. And after receiving my results I see more blood work in my future oh well. One day at a time. Have fun in Denver.

@mrs-b wow, Eleanor is so talented. I LOVE her artwork. Stunning

@bling_dream19 happy weekend...hope you had a friYAY filled with yay and an even sweeter weekend

Hey everyone else. Hope all is well. We had a busy week. Went cycling all week *but Tuesday) and yesterday was another delightful cycling day as is today. But first Greg has an MRI with contrast this morning so praying that goes well. I hope they inject him slowly as he gets nauseous sometimes from the contrast dye. I am nervous for him but of course he isn't nervous. And after that hopefully we go cycling. Have a great Caturday Saturday lovely ladies. XOXO

@mrs-b it's blueberry...and yesterday's blueberry was even more purple because they got in a new batch of very purple blue blueberries. No artificial anything added and no color adjustments. I enjoyed my vanilla and strawberry. So darn delicious

Wishing you all a very wonderful weekend. Be well. XOXO

@missy -

Oh guuuurrrlll! I'm with you! Strawberry and vanilla!! Which is not to say I wouldn't steal Greg's blueberry if he wasn't looking - because I WOULD!

Much love to you both for a good result from today's MRI. I hope cycling is wonderful; the weather here is *perfect* - high of 75, clear as a bell, and a light breeze! Tim and I have been out walking already and it was heaven! oxo

Eleanor arrives tomorrow - we brought it forward a day so she could miss the predicted storms that would almost certainly see her flight on Monday cancelled. We're trying to get some painting done in the family room before she gets here so we can re-stack the shelves we had to clear out. In the meantime, Ballin and Cirrus are supervising the work....

This evening Tim and I are heading out to The Capital Grille for a romantic dinner. Does anyone remember how to do a romantic evening? Lordy - I'm so old and we've been married soooo long....

Wishing everyone a delicious and relaxing Saturday!

Good morning lovely ladies and happy Sunday!

@mrs-b I am right there with you! LOL. I had some of Greg's blueberry pancake ice cream yesterday. It tastes just like the blueberry pancakes but for me is a bit too sweet. TY for the love and well wishes. Much appreciated. I am keeping you and Tim and Ballin in my thoughts daily. I hope you enjoyed a romantic evening out. You both deserve it. XOXO

Hi @Slickk @bling_dream19 @canuk-gal @MamaBee @rainwood @springerspaniel @marcy @Austina and everyone else...hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend

Our sweet treat yesterday (well deserved because we cycled 60 miles)
The weather was purrrrfect...70s, dry and overall amazing for cycling...no sweating involved hahaha

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Austina @marcy how was the visit????
@missy good for you on cycling! I've skipped the last few days and today feels like fall! Leaves yellow and dropping...gloomy with some smoke.....
@mrs-b how was your dinner out?? What did you have?

I'll cook Sunday supper--which is good since I've really been skipping the dishes!!!!

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

You’ll be pleased to know that ‘Moose’ (Mitchell Hooper) did you proud in the competition @canuk-gal , came in a very respectable 2nd. We’re meeting @marcy and her SIL for lunch tomorrow.

I hope you and Tim enjoyed your romantic dinner @mrs-b and that Eleanor arrived safely.

I hope all the tests have/are going well @missy and wow, after all that cycling, you certainly deserved that ice cream. Weather here has been lovely, so nice to be away from the 102 degs back home. The competition has been so well organised and we really enjoyed it.

Marcy is making the long drive tomorrow with her SIL to meet us for lunch, we’re really looking forward to meeting her.

It was a long day today, but the competition was exciting, and we’re glad we came. We also had some excitement last night, when we had to get out of bed to go and stand outside because the fire alarm went off. Needless to say, I made sure I put on all my bling before heading out, I wasn’t leaving that behind even if there had been a fire.

Flying home on Tuesday morning, back to the heat, I’d forgotten what it felt like to not feel sticky

:wavey:

Good morning lovely ladies and happy (how did you get here so fast!) marvelous Monday!

@canuk-gal hope your Sunday supper was delicious. I agree...it has felt like fall is in the air for the past few days though today's going to be quite a bit warmer in the 90s F. But it's OK..summer is not over yet and that is a good thing. I really cannot believe how fast it is going.

@Austina we are getting your Texas weather today lol. 90s after a beautiful stretch of cool dry 70s. Glad you are enjoying and how much fun you are seeing Marcy today. Enjoy. And have a safe flight back tomorrow.

@marcy I know you and your SIL will have fun with Austina and Colin today.

@mrs-b I hope the rest of your weekend was as perfect as your romantic dinner out with Tim

@Slickk hope you had a lovely weekend and I know you are savoring each moment

@bling_dream19 happy Monday and hope the weekend was fun

Hey everyone else. We went cycling yesterday and it was warmer than the day before in the low 80s with low humidity so purrrrfect. Today is much warmer so hoping for an ocean breeze when we go cycling later. Have a marvelous Monday all. XOXO

HURRY!

Hi. @Austina and I had a lovely time and Colin and Chris didn't have to listen to "much" jewelry talk. They are both lovely people and we enjoyed hearing some of their stories.

Here's Austina and me outside the restaurant.

Thank you for sharing!!! Lovely ladies and the weather looks great!! Safe travels home everyone......

Thanks @marcy, we really enjoyed your company, and were so happy to meet you both. We picked a lovely day for it.

Look what Marcy brought us, they tasted like they were just out of the oven (which they were because the car was hot and they started out frozen). We may have had one or two with a cup of tea when we got back

IMG_1413.jpeg

Marcy is exactly how I imagined she would be, and we got on like a house on fire. She wore her gorgeous peach sapphire ring, and wow, what a colour, and of course her ACA was a total sparkle bomb.

Watch out NIRDIs, I’m on a mission to meet you all

Hi NIRDI's!

As you know, the highlight of my dad was meeting our own @Austina. She was glittering with all sorts of gorgeous diamonds and I loved seeing her fabulous rings and bangle bracelet in person. We all gabbed like old friends for hours. My sister-in-law said Austina and Colin are very nice people. Even better, I didn't get lost and delivered them safely back to their hotel.

@canuk-gal it was gorgeous in Colorado today and a lovely day to be out and about. Good plan to skip the dishes. I like to do that myself. I heard Marty and his sister coming up the steps this morning with lots of clanging going on, they were bringing up is 15 or so coffee cups sitting around on his desk downstairs. Thank you for liking my videos. I'm working on some new ones this week.

@missy glad you are having some lovely weather and enjoying adding miles on that bike. Sweet. I did have a scoop of ice cream today at lunch - just for you. I blame my ice cream cravings on your pictures of delicious ice cream. It can't be my sweet-tooth alone. When will you hear on Greg's MRI? We'll be looking for a new doctor. Ours was killed in a motorcycle accident a week ago. He was 41. The paper said he missed a corner and flew off his motorcycle and died from his injuries. Pretty awful. My knitting has gone okay. The thumb still gets a bit tingly and I am trying to pinpoint what triggers it. I've been making six entire rows on mini-me before deciding to quit while I'm ahead.

@Austina I am so glad you put on your bling before exiting the hotel during a fire alarm. That can't have been fun. It sounds like the strongman competition was fun and I'm glad it was close enough for me to come visit. I am glad you enjoyed the cookies.

@mrs-b how was the romantic dinner? The best part about us going somewhere like that is we both put up of phones and actually talk. We're old and married a long time too.

We have been busy. Both Marty and I are working so many hours, I feel like we're ignoring his sister. Luckily, she enjoys time to herself. This weekend we all went shopping in Fort Collins and then met up with my sister for dinner. Her grandson drove her and he and Chris (my SIL) had fun swapping stories about their Jeeps.

Sunday was my usual laundry day and lifting. We finally cooked that 10 pound brisket and had some friends over for supper. One of the items we went to get in Colorado was a remote meat thermometer to use in our gas grill. He tested it when we got home and couldn't get the grill cool enough to cook the brisket. So we decided to use the oven thermometer to cook it on Sunday. It baked for 12 hours and was so tender you could cut it with your fork. It turned out great. My friend brought over homemade mac and cheese and cherry dump cake. I picked up some corn-on-the-cob. So we were set for a delicious dinner.

I worked some off and on this weekend and today. Before enjoying a nice visit with Austina and Colin.

Take care.
Here are some pictures of my ice cream today and the brisket.

GM girls! Happy terrific Tuesday!

@marcy so glad you both had a wonderful visit! And haha I will take the blame. Any time I can share the ice cream love it is my pleasure. :)
And good for you working it off this weekend. That's the way to do it haha
I am sure Marty's sister is having a grand time visiting you and it sounds as if it is the perfect visit TBH...I mean she has her space and you have yours and you visit when you want. It really is perfect IMO. Wow your dinner with your friend sounded delish...and I don't even eat that. LOL. But bring on the cherry cake yummmmmmmmm

@Austina So glad you both had a wonderful visit with marcy...And haha love that goal Austina. I feel like it's been decades since we met and let me know when you plan on visiting NYC again...we can make another bling date of it and I do need to see Adam actually...
OMG those cookies look delish...lucky girl
What a beautiful photo of two beautiful ladies. LOVE it

@canuk-gal it was hot yesterday. Very very warm and humid. But we enjoyed cycling nonetheless and got to enjoy a cold treat too. Of course haha. Hope everything is going well

@bling_dream19 happy Tuesday...hope all is going smoothly

@Slickk my niece loved every single college she visited lol. They are not done visiting colleges but she has seen a dozen already. I only visited two when I was applying but times were different and I only ended up applying to the two I visited so yeah very different. Hope you are enjoying a good week

@mrs-b all my love and lots of healing wishes to you, Tim and Ballin.

Hey everyone else. We had another wonderful cycling day yesterday albeit warmer than the previous weeks/days.

First up our cool creamy delicious treat midway through the ride

Wishing you all a lovely terrific Tuesday. XOXO

My computer is having a moment, so I can't see any photos, and I can't like any posts - so annoying!

@Austina and @marcy - your get together sounds perfect! I'm so glad you had a lovely time! And I LOVE it when people turn out exactly as you think they will - what a joy! Austina, pls add me to your "will meet at some point" list!

Romantic dinner with Tim was lovely. Not really romantic - just a nice restaurant and a long chat, which we both enjoyed a great deal. To be honest, "romance" at this point seems kind of artificial/manufactured. What we have is just love. A lifetime of it, and the sort of love you can build your world around.

@canuk-gal - I had the seafood tower (feeds 4, but I took most of it home), then steak and lobster (took 3/4 of that home as well), then a selection of desserts (took about half of that home and left some there). We had bread and champagne, but not a lot of either. It was all delicious - it's just that my gut is so scarred and strictured at this point that I can't eat a lot of anything. It's not so much the contents of the food as much as the volume; 2 large glasses of water will make me as sick as ice cream of the same volume.

Here's my new profile photo, but larger - taken after our dinner. As per usual, I couldn't get one of the two of us together - no third person to take it - but suffice to say, my date was very handsome. ::)

PS. The photos just came up - Marcy and Austina - what a lovely photo of you both! So happy you got to spend time together!

Hi NIRDI’s!

@canuk-gal I honestly had never tried brisket until a few years ago when we ate at some BBQ restaurant. It’s quite tasty when it’s cooked right and lean. Marty finished off the leftovers for breakfast today.

@missy those dishes of ice cream look like the perfect way to top off cycling in hot weather. We are going to that restaurant tonight that serves the Oreo crusted balls of vanilla ice cream. I do plan on indulging in one. Yes, it works well with my SIL having her own place to stay. She might come here again for Thanksgiving through Christmas but won’t bring her RV. We will see. She changes her mind frequently. Love that shot of the ocean with the large wave and sailboat. Gorgeous.

@mrs-b what a lovely picture of you. Your dinner out sounds perfect, and yes that is the best kind of love - long lasting. It was really nice meeting Austina and Colin.

After about 15 hours, I got my 1 minute “short” video done and loaded on YouTube. My learning curve was steep, but it should get better with time. I have another video ready to go then need to start thinking ahead to October.

As you know, I am klutz, I have a bruise on the inside of my right hand ring finger. It’s about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. I have NO idea how I got it. Go figure.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning lovely ladies! Happy wonderful Wednesday!

@marcy OMG oreo vanilla drooooool so yummy...please tell me you took a photo haha. Wow Thanksgiving through Christmas is a long visit especially without her RV. Good luck. Thank you for the photo love

@mrs-b lovely photo and glad you enjoyed a yummy dinner with Tim

@bling_dream19 good morning, hope you have a beautiful day ahead

@Slickk hope you are enjoying a lovely week

@springerspaniel how is work going? And your summer? Hope all is well

@canuk-gal this week has been splendid for cycling but today I think is the last nice day for a while...but today we will enjoy to the max and hope you do too

Hello everyone else. Today is another busy day. Work (Greg), Cycling, then a plumber appointment later due to a leaky valve in the basement. This plumber is new to us however he lives nearby and we always see him as we are cycling and our friend N recommended him to us so hopefully this will work out. Yesterday was beautiful albeit windy and we got in a good workout. Not sure about the weather today but just know we are going cycling and the rest of the week is quite iffy due to rain rain rain so we shall see. Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday all. XOXO

Cherry bourbon for Greg and my usual. Yummmmm

And a blue heron. They are so elegant and graceful

Hello lovelies

What a beautiful photo @mrs-b, so natural and you look so well after everything you’ve been through. So glad you had an enjoyable evening out and a good meal.

I hope the bruise wasn’t from you and Colin wrestling over the bill @marcy  We finished the cookies when we got home yesterday, they were absolutely delicious, far nicer than anything shop bought. Goodness, who’d have thought it would take so long to produce the video, I always enjoy them, they’re informative, interesting and you have a very good narrating voice.

How’s work going @canuk-gal ? I hope you’re keeping to your no-cooking regime

I hope the plumber turns out to be a good find @missy, it’s so hard these days to find good tradespeople. Boo to the rain there, please send it our way, we’d happily take it off your hands.

Early start for us yesterday, I was wide awake before 4am, and we planned to get up at 6am. We’d arranged to be picked up at 7.30am because we weren’t sure how long it’d take to get to the airport at that time of the morning. Flight was on time, and we paid for emergency exit seats, and both ways we didn’t have anyone sitting next to us, and the leg room was as much as 1st. It was only a 2 hour flight, so easy. We actually landed early, so got home by 3pm, had something to eat and then got 5 mins of heavy rain. Not as much as we need but it all helps.

All in all, it was a really good trip, the event was really well organised, exciting competition, and of course, the highlight was meeting @marcy.

We were really tired, so went to bed early and slept reasonably well. Off to go in the pool before going to do the food shopping.

Have a lovely day NIRDIs. :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did cycle today and it was really lovely. I over dressed as the sun was out--but I'd rather be warm than chilled.

@Austina you guys are very organized!! Glad you enjoyed your trip. And yes, I am trying my best to cook as little as possible. We did have left over pizza for lunch--one of the few things I'll eat leftover. WIN WIN! And I forgot to plot myself for work--so there isn't any ATM. Maybe not SO much of a "forget" LOL

@missy hope the valve leak is an easy fix. Cycle on!

@marcy I could totally eat brisket at breakfast. Like steak and eggs or corned beef hash. Yummy and hearty. Our local deli makes the BEST brisket--I really have to stop myself from eating there all the time. The place is always packed. Oh and I bought a Snoopy +pumpkin plush Halloween pillow today--the pumpkin's eyes light up! SO CUTE!!!!! I'm such a sucker for Halloween stuff...

cheers--Sharon

GM girls. Quick post and run. Sir Oliver is not feeling well again and we are deciding what to do.

We had a good cycling day yesterday and the plumber showed on time and fixed it. Wonderful.

Woke up this AM and Oliver wouldn't eat. I fed him some hard food just a few minutes ago and he did eat but something is not right. Do we drive three plus hours to my sister's office or wait and see how he progresses? Do we take him to the local animal hospital (45 minutes away) so he doesn't have to endure that long trip? IDK what to do. Greg wants to wait and see what happens. But Oliver is not a "normal" cat in that if he isn't clamoring for food there is something wrong :(

@canuk-gal glad you enjoyed cycling and it was sunny

@Austina glad you had a lovely trip

@Slickk hope you are having a wonderful week...it's speeding by way too fast and I cannot seem to slow it down at all

@bling_dream19 hope all is well

Hey everyone else. Have a good Thursday and be well. Enjoy XOXO

@missy, if you’re really worried, I’d take Oliver to the local vet, see what they say, then you can decide if you need to see your sister.

Thanks Austina. I agree but only issue is they’ll insist on a rabies shot and it is imo poison for an indoor cat who is not in any way exposed to the possibility of contracting rabies. We have a tentative appointment set up with my sister late afternoon and we’ll keep an eye on him. Such a long trip for him so yes we might end up at the animal hospital here. I just don’t trust any other vet but we might have no choice. There won’t be any openings for a local veterinarian anyway as we are not established patients anywhere here. Thank you for your thoughts. Much appreciated

:(2 Seems ridiculous to insist on something he absolutely doesn’t need. I’m with you on no unnecessary vaccinations, I’m convinced over vaccination can shorten their lives. Hopefully he’ll rally and is worrying you unnecessarily, but it’s always best to get it checked, even if its just for your peace of mind @missy. Fingers crossed he’ll be back to normal soon.

Thanks Austina. We saw Debbie and left her office two hours ago and are still in NY. Traffic is horrendous. We won’t be home for another two hours making it a four hour trip. Bright side is it only took three hours to get there lol

She found nothing but did run labs so tomorrow we should have the results. For peace of mind I’m glad we went. Praying he’ll be ok. She did give him an anti nausea shot too. Poor baby. He was crying the whole way there but now he’s silent.

She agrees with us about the rabies vaccine. Her own cats are not vaccinated. No chance of them contracting rabies. All indoor cats

I was grateful she always accommodates us. And her staff is terrific

I’m glad you went to reassure you @missy, they can’t tell us what’s wrong, so better to be safe rather than sorry. Hopefully the tests will come back clear and it’s just a passing bug or something not serious.
