Lovely to hear how things are going @MamaBee. Can you change the sheers behind the bed for blackouts? We’ve got the same fabric for all the blinds, some are sheers and the bedroom ones are blackouts, so they don’t really look different from the inside.
Can’t wait to see more photos when you have time, it sounds like it’s all coming together and is going to be absolutely beautiful.
Sounds like a plan! We rarely put the shades up in the bedroom, it helps keep the heat out
Whatever you do for window coverings, @MamaBee - I LOVE your window configuration, and had hoped to do something similar in our room. I love the look of it and, having seen photos of your other houses, know for sure that you'l choose something gorgeous; your taste is excellent!
I've missed you here on PS - it's so lovely to hear from you! Sending you warm thoughts and hoping things go without a hitch for you! ox
Happy Belated Happy Birthday @missy! I’m so sorry I missed it! I’ll blame it on temporary insanity..I hope you had the best birthday..riding..being with your honey and ice cream! Much love to you!
Hi girls! I had time today so did some reading here..I’m never going to catch up… It was so nice to know what’s happening in your lives. I can’t wait until things calm down so I can get back to being able to come here every day…
@missy When is your cataract surgery? Your gut feeling is probably right…
I’m happy Oliver had a good checkup with your sister. Hopefully it was just an upset tummy..
@Austina Your bracelet is so gorgeous! I hope I get nice neighbors like you have! They are lucky to have you for sure!
I obsessed about the fixtures..I’m happy you like them! The lanterns are a nod to my husband who was an officer in the Navy..
How wonderful you got to meet @marcy! I hope to meet you all one day!
@mrs-b Thank you for liking my kitchen. It’s five years old so IMO it’s better than new because the kinks are worked out. The kitchen has a freestanding Wolf oven..I have one here in Pa..It hurts my back to bend over to get a pan out of the oven..I also wanted a wall oven for when I have guests. I was surprised this house didn’t have one. I put in a Wolf microwave and oven combo. I will use that more than the freestanding one.
Hello and hugs to everyone else..We’re going back to Va on Wednesday..I will take pics of the progress..There have been some snafus but overall..the contractors have been wonderful..I’ve been spending hours and days purchasing things for the house instead of coming here…Things should be coming to a stall soon when they start the floor refinishing. Then we have to find a small moving company to move the furniture from Maryland. We can’t move the furniture in until at least a month after they're finished..so we will have time. They said no rugs for four to six weeks..so no use moving the furniture in until we can put the rugs down. I also have to order a king bed and a recliner for my hubby. I have to time everything..He gets to keep that in his office..lol
I have a dilemma..The primary bedroom has three little windows above the bed. The former owners didn’t care for privacy. The people next door can see right in because the shades are a sheer fabric. They are very pretty so I want to keep them..I will put drapes on the other windows in the room but I’m not a fan of drapes behind the bed. I think I’m going to get a tension rod with a curtain behind it to block us out...so I can keep the sheer shade. It wouldn’t be noticeable from the front..This is a photo with their furniture. It’s empty right now..of course…but I don’t have a recent photo now..I can take another one when we go on Wednesday if that’s helpful. I’m stumped and need opinions. Big hugs everyone!

Hi, I don't usually post on this thread, but thought I'd provide a suggestion that worked for us in the past: Window privacy film. Depending on the pattern you buy, they let in varying amounts of light and provide varying degrees of privacy. There are tons of sellers on Etsy, but this one looks good because her products are PVC-free:

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, @MamaBee. BTW, your house is gorgeous!
Good morning NIRDIs!! Sorry I have been AWOL for awhile. I try to keep up with all of your news, but I fear I am woefully behind. Hey @missy I really enjoyed the photos of your lovely family--your nieces really have grown up so much. And I am so happy about Greg's MRI results. Did I tell you I had cataract surgery when I was in my early 50's? Best thing I ever did! Now I can recognize some of the bottles in my shower and I no longer mistakenly use conditioner for body wash.
@mrs-b I think your avatar picture is fantastic! So glad you and Eleanor are spending time together this summer. I am sending all positive thoughts your way regarding Tim's medical results. I think you are waiting for biopsies? At any rate, it also looks as if your back is feeling somewhat better after the surgery as well? I think of you often, as you were the catalyst for my changing career trajectories. I finished collecting data for the audio recording therapy study and am doing data analysis now. I'll be presenting this in Puerto Rico at a conference in October. I am also writing a grant to treat depression in care partners of people living with dementia, which I hope to submit in October.
Just celebrated our 20th anniversary and are going back to Mt. Tamalpais this week, where we got married.
To all of you--thank you so much for being here! It is such a wonderful community to have and each of you contributes so much.
