Now I really did it :((

Happy Christmas everyone, I hope you have a lovely day, spending time with your loved ones.

@missy, continuing to think of your and your family, and sending love and healing vibes to your dear Dad. Thank you, we had a lovely day, and a delicious meal on our anniversary.

Lots going on today, we’re really enjoying being on board over Christmas, made new friends, playing silly games and competing in Trivia and eating far too much!

Sending warm holiday wishes to all of the the NIRDIs!

@missy I’m so sorry to read that your dad has pneumonia. Sending ((hugs)) and  that he can fight this!!

Hi NIRDI's!

I hope you all have a great Christmas - to those who celebrated.

@missy your pendant is lovely and looks perfect on you. Big hugs going to your parents. I sure hate to hear about your dad and hope he gets better. And best wishes to Greg with his upcoming procedures. Keeping you all in my thoughts. Happy Anniversary to your parents today.

@mrs-b I sure hope you are feeling better. Not being able to breathe is terrifying and those coughing fits are not fun. Big hugs to you. I am so sorry about Wendy falling and getting hurt. Big hugs to her as well. I know lots of broken wrist tricks, but not shoulder so much.

@Austina I am glad you are enjoying your cruise. I still think it would be small world funny if Marty's parents were on the same cruise. They flew out of Texas though. Happy Anniversary to you and Colin,

@springerspaniel I'll post a picture of my vest below (if I remember). I am trying to decide on my next project.

Hi @Slickk

@canuk-gal I'll have to look for that movie. We watched quite a few Christmas movies the last few days. I ordered delivery for some groceries on Friday. I didn't want to venture out in the chaos for a few things. We got a white Christmas here too but just enough to cover the ground. The hurricane force winds going on now aren't fun though.

Hi @jeaniefish

Well, today has been an unusual Christmas day. It's strange having someone else here for stockings and presents, but based on the amount of trash and gift wrap I picked up, it looks like we all did well. We had lunch at a friend's house and came home about 5. We were watching movies but the power went out over an hour ago. Marty and Chris just went to bed. If I went to bed this early, I'd be awake at 2 a.m. We are having hurricane force winds right now - shocking, I know - and it's very cold. If the power doesn't come back on over night, I'll clear off the mantle and crank on the fireplace.

Marty got me a new teddy bear who was on the top of my stocking wearing my new heart diamond pendant. I got a lot of Snoopy things as well. Luckily, I bought both Chris and Marty some small wind up flashlights so we all had flashlights to use. How ironic we had four little flashlights handy. And the power just came back on right now.

Take care.
Marcy

Thank you for your calls, texts, emails and ps support
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas

Enjoy a terrific Tuesday lovely ladies. Off to one of my specialists soon but wanted to thank you and say good morning
Be well XOXO

I’m so glad your Dad is battling @missy, continuing good wishes for him to regain his strength and health xx

HI"

NIRDI Boxing Day shout out!!!!

I never want to see food again. LOL. Ate and drank all day yesterday and generally lazed around. Lots of leftovers. Today again much of the same. Tomorrow I'll venture out.

@missy I am surprised you have a medical appt today--no specialists around here open. And FWIW I thought your folks looked great! Healing vibes their way.

@marcy sorry for the yucky winds--we get a lot of wind here and trees are always down...your vest is very nice.

Not much else to report. Stay safe and well folks!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy I hope your dad continues to hang in there. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

@canuk-gal 'tis the season for ingesting a lot of food. I am glad you had a good time though. It's definitely semi-tipping windy here. I swear sometimes the house is rattling so bad it sounds like we're in a cardboard box. It's been blizzard conditions all day in town and I guess we're in better shape than most places. I wonder what it'll be like on top of that little hill in the country that Marty likes ... And thanks, I'm wearing my vest today. It's not keeping me as warm as I hoped, but then what does?

Not much new here. I worked most of the day and snacked more than normal. D'oh!

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy terrific Thursday!

@canuk-gal everyone here (all the medical offices) is open and ready for business. The office was quite crowded too. Today Greg is having two cancerous moles removed and tomorrow a surgical procedure for something else. Nothing stops even for the holidays lol. Hope you are enjoying your well deserved time off from work and enjoying the company of your loved ones. And yummy leftovers too

@marcy thank you. Your vest is so pretty. It is my favorite color. I buy blue as often as I can. Blue pants, sweaters, tops, shoes, purses, you get the picture lol. Thank you for all your well wishes and hugs too. Right back at ya

Thank you @Austina and I hope you are both having a most wonderful trip and that your weather is cooperating

@bling_dream19 hope you are enjoying a lovely holiday week. Few more days and we will be in the new year. Another dizzyingly fast year

@Slickk I hope you are enjoying your much deserved vacation and that you are spending time doing exactly what you want to do and with who you want to do it

@mrs-b I hope you and Wendy are doing as well as possible and her recovery is going smoothly. Sending you continuing healing vibes and gentle hugs.

We have been enjoying challenging hikes and we got to go with friends a few days ago. It made the hike even more enjoyable. You don't realize how hard you are hiking when chatting (albeit out of breath lol) the entire time with friends. They have a dog who loves hiking too. We will probably continue hiking with them since it was so much fun. I love the fact that their dog was a rescue a few years ago and she came from a very traumatized past and they gave her a loving home. They are good people and these days that is very important to me. It was always important to me but now even more so. It warms my heart that people like this exist because let's face it. The past few months have truly showed me how low humans can go and be. I have very little faith in humanity truth be told. But I digress. Shadow is a love

Last night another marathon zoom call with my girlfriends. It is amazing how we can communicate across the many miles like we are in the same room together. Modern technology doesn't suck. When it works lol. Speaking of which Greg's apple laptop is not working so just another thing on the to do list.

Dad update: His WBC is still high. The ID physician is trying to figure it out and now does not think he has pneumonia. But there was fluid in the lungs on the chest X-ray so isn't that pneumonia? It is not my field and so I really do not know. I hope these physicians know what they are doing. My dad says he feels a bit better but I have an uneasy feeling. TY all for reaching out and sending all your well wishes to him and my family. I very much appreciate the well wishes.

Have a wonderful day girls. I wish all of you contentment and peace and love. XOXO

Hello lovelies

@missy, I’m so glad to hear your Dad is battling on and feeling slightly better. How strange they don’t think he has pneumonia now but he still has fluid on his lungs. I hope Greg’s mole removal went off without a hitch.

We’ve been busy, we were in San Juan yesterday and have been sailing today, so just chilling with friends, playing trivia, and eating too much.

Last day tomorrow in the Bahamas, then home on Saturday.

Will catch up properly when I get back.

:wavey:

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy I hate to hear your dad's WBC is high and he has fluid on his lungs. Sometimes specialists have trouble seeing the big pictures, sometimes they don't. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and I hope your dad gets better. Also, I hope Greg is recovering okay from his procedures. Yes, technology is great when it works. Darn that Greg's laptop is not working. That's great you enjoyed hiking with your friends and their sweet rescue dog.

@Austina your cruise sounds fun and relaxing. But no, I'm still not going on one. I guess people either love them or not so much. Safe travels home.

We met with a builder yesterday. The price came out to about what I expected. We are talking to two more builders next week but I doubt the prices will be much better. I am betting interest rates come down next year before the election, but who knows. It's rough to give up a nice house with low interest rates, for a smaller - but nice house - and larger payment.

That said, we took friends out to the lot we like today. Time will tell ...

Tomorrow is family day at M&M's house. There will be 19 of us. I have cookies and cheesecakes baked. I confirmed our catering delivery. I got out dishes, cutlery and glasses. I am as ready as I am ever going to be.

While we were out yesterday, I picked up some yarn for a vest to make for a friend's birthday. Yay. Another knitting project.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy Caturday Saturday!

@Austina thank you and enjoy! See you in 2024 :)

@marcy thanks, I am not satisfied with how his case is being handled and just pray he can recover. His WBC count is rising again but due to the holiday they cannot do a punch biopsy of his legs (as we requested and feel should have been done over a week ago) til next Tuesday (and probably not even then but later)...I mean this is a hospital and illness takes no vacations right? We are visiting him today after a very busy medical week. How sweet you are knitting another vest for a friend's birthday. That is a most lovely gift. Good that the builder's quote was what you expected it to be but boo to a smaller house with a larger payment...Enjoy family day today.

@Slickk happy NYE weekend

@bling_dream19 happy last days of 2023

Hi everyone else. Greg's surgical procedure went well despite taking three hours vs the one hour we thought it would be...Thinking of you all and hoping everything is going smoothly. Big hugs and much love

Leaving you with a photo from last night...speaking of Caturday Saturday

Have a meowalous weekend XOXO

Wishing a very happy and healthy 2024 to my sweet dear friends ♥️
May 2024 bring all you hope and dream for plus good health and contentment
And wishing for peace for the world

See you next year

Hello lovelies

We’re back, but not without drama. Got to the airport, trudged what felt like miles to the lounge, only to find they were too full, so had to trudge further back to another lounge, which was a dump. I know, 1st world problems  Went to the gate, got to boarding time, no plane. It was delayed because of mechanical problems, so we waited and waited. Anyway, ended up getting home a few hours later than expected, and then I couldn’t get my gate code to work, so I ended up phoning around a few neighbours until I got one that did!

We had a great time, met some nice people and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we’re doing it again next Christmas

I hope your Christmas went well @mrs-b and that Wendy wasn’t too uncomfortable, and of course, hope you got some help and relief from your breathing difficulties.

Did you have a white Christmas @canuk-gal ? Hope you had a stressfree time.

Have you made any decision about the new house @marcy? Whoever you go with, try and get a fixed price contract for the house, otherwise things can really get out of hand. Exciting times ahead making all the decisions.

I hope you found your Dad in good spirits @missy, and that the Drs are keeping him comfortable and stable. I’m sure having his family around is the best medicine at the moment. Continuing good thoughts and healing vibes for his recovery. I hope Greg is doing well following his procedure and the results come back clear.

Enjoy the break from teaching @Slickk before you head back in to the fray.

No plans for NYE, other than getting the washing done and talking to our friends on FT this morning.

How can another year be over already? I can’t say I’ll be sorry for it to be over. Roll on 2024 and let’s hope it turns out to be a good one for us all.

See you next year lovey NIRDIs :wavey:

Welcome home @Austina sounds like a great time until the end. Enjoy a relaxing New Years!
@missy hoping your dad is feeling better today and they are treating him right. Illness does not take a holiday :( ((hugs))

Happy New Year NIRDIs

Happy New Year's Day NIRIDIs!
Welcome home @Austina!

Thank you @Slickk!

We enjoyed a lovely and peaceful New Year's Eve with all our furry babies and without many fireworks at all thank goodness.
Have a wonderful New Year's Day lovely ladies. XOXO

Happy New Year lovely NIRDI’s.

I can only hope that this year will be considerably better than last year, and that peace and normality will be restored to the world.

We were zonked last night and were asleep before 10pm, but could hear lots of fireworks going off.

Didn’t get to talk to our friends yesterday, so are doing it today.

I forgot to post this photo that our lovey cabin steward Olivera left for us on our anniversary. Very inventive of her, swan towels and chocolates in the shape of 45

HI:

Happy New Year and NIRDI shout out!!!!

I haven't posted for a few days cuz I didn't want to be a DD--tested positive for Covid on Dec 29. I guess, finally, it was my turn (I am so careful masking everywhere)--caught over Christmas from a family member (who didn't know they had it....). At any rate, I have been self isolating and masking in my own house--which is tough. Luckily my DH didn't catch it and has been my room service for days. At least he knows where to get the best take out!!!! I have not been very sick--I know so many people who were bedridden and that is simply not the case for me. I can be grateful for that, mild symptoms and hope it stays that way. Hepa filter on full blast.

@Austina Absolutely no white Christmas for us! yay! It was 10C yesterday and I sat on the deck in full sunshine eating my Italian take out.

@missy hope your family is OK and that your DH is healing well. In my isolation I rewatched To Sir with Love last night--and I loved it again!!! My DH said he could hear me singing in the next room--I must have been loud as these old walls are cement!

@Slickk hope your Christmas break has been relaxing!

@marcy hope your weather is treating you well and that you are taking some time off over this holiday season.

@mrs-b hope you had some fun this season--goodness knows you and your family/friends deserve it!

OK back to online window shopping!

cheers--Sharon

@Austina - Happy 45th wedding anniversary! I know I wished you a happy anniversary a few days ago, but that lovely photo deserves a second shout out! And welcome home!

Missy - that photo of you and Greg is gorgeous! How is your dead father?

@canuk-gal - happy New Year, Sharon! I'm sorry to hear you have Covid, but glad it doesn' seem too severe. Hoping you feel better very soon and testing negative!

Our Christmas Day in Boston was pretty subdued. I did a very nice dinner, but it was an exhausting exercise, as I still had bronchitis as well as asthma at that point. Wendy was only on the third day since her break, and in a fair amount of pain. Robert, her husband, arrived on Christmas Eve morning and was a great help. Eleanor had returned to LA on the 19th, thinking we'd be coming right behind her, so we were apart for Christmas, which was a bit sad. The four of us who were in Boston opened a bunch of small gifts tho, so that was fun.

On the 28th I came out to LA and Wendy and Robert followed the next day - just to give her another day to settle. Instead of Christmas, we had a big New Year's Day celebration today and opened the majority of our gifts and had a huge feast!

The only down side was the Wendy's arm seems to be going from bad to worse. Well, not her arm, so much as her ribs and her scapula. She thought at the time that she'd cracked a rib, so this evening when everyone had gone, Robert took her to urgent care for new x-rays and a consult. Hoping she feels better very soon.

We really didn't feel up to taking photos on Christmas day, but here are a couple we took today. Wishing each and every NIRDI a very happy, joyous, healthy and peaceful 2024!

Good morning lovely ladies! Happy January!

@mrs-b sending Wendy continuing healing vibes. I hope she did not crack a rib. I hope you and Tim are doing as well as possible and that the kids are healthy and happy. Thank you for the good wishes for my dear dad. He is hanging in there.

@Slickk I love the book "Night" though maybe love isn't the appropriate word. It is a powerful book and I agree it should be required reading in schools.

@bling_dream19 sending you lots of good wishes sweet girl

@canuk-gal hope your weather is cooperating

@marcy hope you had a wonderful holiday and you and Marty are feeling well

@springerspaniel happy 2024..may this year bring only good things

Hello everyone else. We have been hiking our hearts out. Feels good to be outside in the cool crisp air and to be active. It is when I feel most alive. Hiking, cycling, even walking. Today is another hiking day.

Leaving you with two photos during our hike yesterday

Screen Shot 2024-01-02 at 7.50.40 AM.png

There were some intense drops so you can believe I paid very close attention while hiking there lol. I do not like heights but won't let that fear conquer me

Screen Shot 2024-01-02 at 7.56.17 AM.png

Enjoy a terrific Tuesday all. XOXO

@canuk-gal oh no. I’m so sorry. I was half asleep when I posted and missed your COVID update. Sending you bucketloads of healing vibes and lots of gentle hugs. Wishing you a speedy recovery ♥️

@mrs-b gorgeous photos!

@mrs-b sending Wendy continuing healing vibes. I hope she did not crack a rib. I hope you and Tim are doing as well as possible and that the kids are healthy and happy. Thank you for the good wishes for my dear dad. He is hanging in there.

Sigh. No - results are in - definitely cracked. And apparently the arm break is higher than she thought and is going into the head of the humerus - meaning she may need to have surgery (shoulder replacement) after all.

This is a nightmare - especially given that she's doing all of this on travel insurance, only a few months after surgery on her foot, and 6 months before she's meant to have major back surgery.

The moral of the story, ladies, is - weight bearing exercise! Look after those bones!

ETA And just to add - the other moral is - ER departments are generally understaffed, overworked, and largely disengaged. So if you end up there, never - EVER - take their diagnosis as definitive if it doesn't mesh 100% with your own thoughts and concerns.

Hello lovelies

Oh no @canuk-gal, I’m so sorry to hear that the dreaded Covid has got you, but relieved that it hasn’t been too severe. Yay to no snow, and I hope that your DH has been taking very good care of you. Hope you feel completely back to normal soon.

Yes, please do be careful @missy, we don’t want anymore injured and ill NIRDIs. How’s your Dad doing, have they got to the root of the fluid in his lungs, I hope so, and that he’s feeling comfortable and being taken care of.

Poor Wendy @mrs-b, as if the broken arm wasn’t bad enough, a cracked/broken rib is so painful. Great photo of you, it’s lovely to see you smiling, and thanks for the anniversary wishes. Glad you managed to celebrate NYE, making it through the last crappy year is something to be grateful for.

How’re things with you @marcy, any news on the house?

Thinking of you @bling_dream19 and hoping things are well with you.

We FT with our friends yesterday, and she’s been feeling really unwell and lost weight over Christmas, she’s wondering if she’s had Covid but doesn’t know for sure. Apparently 1:16 people in the UK have Covid and the hospitals are getting full again. The tests are not detecting the latest variant, so that’s going to be a problem with infected people mingling and spreading it. We did surprise them on Christmas Day by FT them from the ship and telling them we’ve booked a cruise for the 4 of us for March 2025.

Not much going on with us, I finished the holiday washing today, all the linen clothes, then ironed them ready for the summer. It’s cold and wet here today, not that we don’t need the rain, but it’s a stark contrast to yesterday when it was wall to wall sunshine.

:wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My bottom is sore from sitting on it all day..this self isolation is such a challenge. But keeping it up as I want to keep my DH well. So far so good.

@Austina @missy @ mrs-b thank you for the well wishes. I am quite well--and grateful for what might be described as mild case. Hope it stays that way. Outside of my DH, until the 29th, amongst my extended family, coworkers and friends , we were the only people I knew who hadn't had a Covid infection. I think it catches up with us all, eventually. Unfortunately I know a few folks who've had it more than once. Anyway.

I asked my DH to make chicken soup from scratch. So with me in the other room and him in the kitchen, with step by step instructions he did! Normally he refuses to participate in cooking, etc, but has been doing the dishes etc. We text each other within the house and call--pretty funny actually.

The weather was pretty cool when I was out on the deck today. Not much else to report.

cheers--Sharon

HI:

@Austina and @mrs-b may your friends be on the mend soon. No one wants or wishes to be sick. Healing vibes across the miles...

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@canuk-gal I hope you are feeling better soon.

@mrs-b I hate to hear Wendy’s break is bad and will probably need surgery.

@Austina sorry it was kind of a hassle getting home, but I am so glad you enjoyed your cruise.

@missy I’m keeping your dad in my thoughts and glad to hear Greg is doing well form his procedure.

Big hugs to you all and Happy New Year.

The family day (Saturday) was fun but a long day. My legs hurt from standing and doing so much all day. They were fine after I lifted on Sunday. We had lazy days on Sunday - watching movies, having some popcorn and just relaxing. My SIL went to Denver to see friends so was gone Sunday through this morning. I’m not going to lie, that was a nice break.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy terrific Thursday!

My dad was sent to rehab yesterday and he has a room with an ocean view, Not bad. He cannot stand so I hope PT can help him.
Thank you all for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

@canuk-gal I hope you continue to feel well and almost completely recovered and that your DH remains healthy and unaffected. So many are sick here. My sister, her dh and her oldest have been sick now for over a week. Not Covid but some other respiratory virus. My sister brought my niece to the doctor and she doesn't have strep or anything else that can be identified. This winter seems very harsh for many health wise. Sending you continued healing vibes and gentle hugs

@Austina welcome home and glad you had a FT call with friends but sorry she has lost weight and not sure why. We got some upsetting news yesterday. I will share below. Stay well

@marcy glad you enjoyed a lovely family gathering and that you got a respite from being the host to your SIL albeit a brief respite. Movies and popcorn two of my faves- especially on a chilly winter's evening

@Slickk hope your first week back is going smoothly

@bling_dream19 hope 2024 is off to a good start

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well. So we had quite the day yesterday. We found out one of my aunt and uncle's best friend died yesterday. My aunt was calling her and no answer. They speak every day. So she and my uncle drove out to her house and found her dead on the floor with her dog beside her. The dog is fine but we need to get him a loving home. He is a sweet 10yo corgi. He cannot be in a home with other dogs. It is so upsetting. She was 74. No clue why she died and her only living relative (bother in Minnesota) probably won't have an autopsy done. Her dh died 20 years ago at the age of 57. A long sad story :( Life is so unrpedictable and fragile.

WARNING....If you are against civilians owning guns do not read the following please

Yesterday afternoon Greg and I had a three hour private instructional class on how to handle our firearms. We got our firearms two years ago for self defense and I have been procrastinating since. But with all that is happening I am determined to be able to protect myself and my home should it be necessary. It was a great class and we used laser to practice and we both did pretty good I have to say. We will go to the range and try real bullets but it was a very good start. The semi retired police officer (he was chief of police for 20 years in our neighboring town and is only 49 yo. He does this now and is part time at policing also still) who gave us the private class was impressed with us and kept saying we are very above average. I am not happy there are some people with guns who may not have the best skills though. It was hard to get the permit but it seems once you do no training is required and that is not OK. But another story for another day. The PO who trained us yesterday trained with the IDF in Israel years ago. He is very impressive. All in all I feel satisfied with the beginning of our training and you can bet we will always be super careful and never complacent and it is only for self defense. The police officer said he could get me a conceal carry permit if I want but not sure I do want that but we shall see. I never felt so strongly before as I do now with what is happening in the world. I know many do not agree with getting guns etc. but I am a strong proponent of handling firearms safely and smartly and responsibly. Unfortunately not everyone is as responsible so yes I am pro gun control but OK with it in the right hands if you kwim...

Today is a hiking day. Very chilly and then there is a big storm headed our way this weekend. I hope it isn't too bad because we want to visit my dad. He is even further away than before but closer to my mom distance wise so that is a plus.

I hope everyone's new year is off to a good start. Be well, enjoy and sending love, peace and hugs your way. XOXO
Speaking of love and peace. Sorry it's blurry. I took it from a video with my phone last night as they both sat on my lap cleaning each other. LOL it was the sweetest sight

@mrs-b how is Wendy? How are you? Continuing healing vibes and lots of love ♥️

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!

Bright and sunny here, but brisk @-2C. Doesn't matter cuz I'm not going outside anyway. At any rate, I am getting to my limits on my confines of our spare bedroom (and I have nothing like Edmond Dantes complaint LOL)--however the positive test line was so faint today that I needed to look at it with my readers. So I suspect I should be negative very soon. But not without being robbed of my smell and 80% of my taste. Such is Covid. My DH is out on errands (we'll see what take out surprise there is today!) so I am basking in the sun, in our great room, with my N95 mask on. I am happy enough!

@missy I hope your Dad gets his strength back in rehab. Nice to have an ocean view!!!! Hope your Mom is managing well. And healing vibes to your dear family. Yes, my sister said her two kids were sick over Christmas--as were so many they came into contact with during their vacay. Poop to the facts!

@marcy rest up!

@Austina stay dry.

FWIW, one would have thought that I'd spent my life savings online during my isolation, but not a dime!!!!! But thankful for online window shopping and you tube skin care videos!!! Mental lifesavers, and food for thought!!!! LOL I just put my Tiffany diamond rings on--I've missed them. At least they don't give or get Covid!

cheers--Sharon
