Now I really did it :((

Hello lovelies

FWIW @missy, we’re thinking the same. There’ve been a number of reports of prowlers in the vicinity, peering through people’s windows and being caught on camera. We’re not too bothered because we have high gates which are always locked, and the position of our house, right at the end of the road, makes us less of a target. When Adam was getting his permit to carry, he was horrified at the amount of morons there being give a licence. I’m glad to hear your Dad is in rehab, a room with a view will make his stay there more bearable. Hoping they can get him back on his feet soon.

I hope Wendy is feeling more comfortable @mrs-b, and you and Tim are doing OK.

Sounds like you’re going stir crazy @canuk-gal, hopefully another day and you’ll be in the clear. Fingers crossed your sense of smell and taste return quickly too. I hope DH is taking good care of you.

When is Chris leaving @marcy? Sounds like you had a really busy day, no wonder you were tired. Any more news on the house front?

I’ve started packing away the Christmas things today, I’ll take the tree down on Saturday, then the house will be back to normal.

Colin’s got a Dr’s appt tomorrow, his ear still isn’t right, it seemed to get better while we were away, but the pain has returned. Speaking of pain, I’ve done something to my shoulder, so have been using a heat pad. We’ve both got check ups on the 15th, so I’ll wait till then to see about it.

:wavey:

GM lovely ladies! Happy friYay!

@canuk-gal yay good for you not spending lots of dough. Impressive. Your beautiful bling is absolutely satiating ♥️
Thank you for all your well wishes for my dad. I hope your family stays well and your recovery is 100% soon

We are on the same page @Austina and we won’t go down without a fight
Thank you for your continued well wishes for my dad
Good luck to Colin. I hope he finds relief soon

@mrs-b thinking of you and Wendy

@Slickk happy almost weekend

@bling_dream19 happy friyay

Hello everyone else

We went hiking yesterday and did a very challenging hike. Kept us warm lol

The surgical coordinator called yesterday when we got back and Greg’s TKR surgery was moved up to January 24th. Now I’m getting nervous lol. But glad it will be done with sooner and hoping for a good outcome.

Another hike today. Stay well girls. Enjoy

Hello lovelies

Good news that Greg will be getting his surgery sooner rather than later @missy, the sooner it’s done, the sooner he’ll be on the road to recovery. Continuing good thoughts to your dear Dad and his journey to health.

Nothing going on here, Colin’s Dr has referred him to an ENT specialist, but was surprised how bunged up his ear was, and so quickly.

Putting the tree away tomorrow, that’s the extent of the excitement around here

Have a great weekend all :wavey:

GM girls and happy Caturday Saturday!

@Austina thank you. We are very pleased as we were hoping we would be able to get an earlier surgery date. I hope the ENT can help Colin. LOL I hear you. We need to put our tree away too because this time I am not leaving it up though much of summer haha. But we might wait a few more weeks. It's nice to have the cheery lights from the tree in the evening when the days are so short.

Hi everyone else. Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend. Most of you are still sleeping I am sure. It turned pretty chilly here and remained below freezing much of the day yesterday. We have a storm coming but I hope it is mainly a rain event on the coast. It will however be quite windy which I am not enthused about. As severe winds can create havoc here.

We had another strenuous but good hike yesterday. Today we are not sure if we are hiking or visiting my dad. It will be today or tomorrow we shall go visit. The weather looks to be unpleasant both days so driving safely under hazardous conditions will be a concern. Just trying to figure out which day would be safer for us to travel.

My poor sister and her family are still sick. My eldest niece has a fever of 102F and that is in the morning. I asked my sister could it be RSV and she said yes. It feels like a dangerous world in so many respects right now. Illness is all around as the threat of impending doom with all that is happening in the world. At least that is how I feel. Not to be a debbie downer but just being the realist I am. Of course I am hoping for a brighter tomorrow always. And I never give up hope. Light will cast out the darkness. It will. It's just a matter of when.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. Enjoy whatever you do and be well.

May your Caturday Saturday be purrrrfectly peaceful and fun

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!

@missy I am sorry your family is still sick--and your niece and her fever. So worry some. I hate the grip those creepy viruses + bacteria possess. At least bacteria can be treated....viruses...waiting and preying. Congrats on getting a earlier surgery date! I think this is a great time...as winter does limit a lot of activity. Better now than the summer when you want to be out cycling (mind you you walk daily even now...)

@Austina Wow and ENT referral? Hope it is nothing serious. Is there suspicious activity in your hood? That is always a big yikes.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the test line while soooo faint, is still present. I bet the majority of people would say to themselves NEGATIVE, but I am such a pedant, I'll keep with the program. My muscles are very stiff from nonuse. I'll double mask and go for a walk. Yesterday's take out, from our fav Belgium bakery, was beyond delish. I ate the rest of the quiche for breakfast and the pavlova was OOTW!!! At least my appetite isn't affected. LOL

I need new lamps. Will spend part of today online browsing. I don't know about anyone else, but I am very fussy about lamps. I look a hundreds to find, one. Especially tall floor lamps.

cheers--Sharon

Good morning lovely ladies and happy marvelous Monday!

@canuk-gal hope you had a lovely weekend and yes agree on all points. My sister and her family are feeling a bit better but still crap*y. We shall see if they wake with a fever again. My eldest niece has missed a lot of school this month. And yes totally agree on the surgery date. Even though we are active all year and there is no ideal time for "downtime" so to speak- winter is the best time for a forced vacation from activity. Let's hope we remain well so he can get the surgery in two weeks. It makes me nervous to be around lots of people right now but we are visiting my dad in rehab and I am sure there are lots of people there who are sick right now. We wear our masks now wherever we go if there will be people around. And hope that is sufficient. You are being very conscientious and I respect and admire that. I wish everyone would behave the same. Unfortunately I know of people who fly even when they are sick which means they can infect everyone in the airplane. Hope you are feeling all better and your family remains healthy and all is going smoothly

@Slickk hope you had a terrific weekend and that your week goes well

@bling_dream19 hope you are feeling well and good and your family is doing well

@Austina hope Colin's ENT appointment goes well

@marcy hope you had a fun weekend. And that your home is free of long term guests soon lol. Even though I know you love Chris I also know after a good amount of time having your home back would be very lovely

Hi everyone else. We visited my dad yesterday and had a good hike on Saturday. The storm wasn't bad at all. Unfortunately there is another one coming here tomorrow (supposed to be torrential downpours, flooding all over and high winds) into Wednesday just in time for our long drive to our endocrinologist app on Wednesday. Never a dull moment. My dad wasn't feeling great yesterday but at least he ate his lunch while we were there and we brought him a case of water and soda as that is what he likes to drink and they do not have bottled water at the facility. The staff is super nice there. And his view is incredible. The rehab center is right on the beach. When Greg and I were dating back in the 90s I brought him to Coney Island (his first time there) and we rode the Cyclone and he had fries and a hot dog at Nathan's. It was so much fun. And all those memories came back yesterday...scene of the crime so to speak

Enjoy a marvelous Monday lovely ladies. XOXO

Girls may I ask a favor please. My dad has taken a turn for the worse. He can’t breathe and is on oxygen. The rehab center is getting the doctor to come to evaluate him. He’s probably going to go back to the hospital but we don’t know anything right now. If you could please keep him in your thoughts and prayers I’d greatly appreciate it

So sorry to hear about your Dad @missy - healing vibes being sent his way. Take care.

Hello lovelies

Oh no @missy, I’m so sorry to hear that your dear Dad may be back in hospital. The only upside to that is that if he needs more medical attention, then that’s the best place for him. No need to ask for good thoughts, they are continually ongoing. Keeping everything crossed for a good outcome. Sending good wishes to your sister and family and hoping they get over this nasty bug soon.

Hoping there’s no line today @canuk-gal and you’re fully recovered and feeling well. A neighbouring development has reported people knocking on windows during the night and have captured images of people on their cameras.

We went out on Saturday just for a mooch around, didn’t really buy anything, just wanted to get out of the house. We packed up the tree yesterday and cleaned up all the glitter, then went for a walk in the afternoon. It was windy but lovely and sunny, we stopped to talk to one of the neighbours. That was the extent of the excitement here

Hoping all the lovely NIRDIs have a good week ahead. :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!

@missy I am sorry to hear about your Dad! Healing vibes across the miles!! I hope active treatment gets a handle on things. Thank you for your kind support. It is mind boggling that after all these Covid years people are still in denial. But there is a stigma attached to having it so it is "easier" to say "oh it is only a cold/flu. Really? Like saying "oh it is only TB". How do you know unless you test! Anyway, off my soapbox.

@Austina I love your colloquialisms! I thought about going mooching myself today, but it is too cold and I just took down the Christmas decorations, except for the tree--that stays at least this month. So I don't feel like it. At any rate, I have to go out tomorrow, so that may be an opportunity to mooch around. Prowling is such a chronic problem everywhere. Puts one ill at ease to say the least. And thank you, I am well.

I tested negative twice yesterday--hope it is legit, bc tests can provide false negatives. But I don't have anything else to go by. I have ended my isolation and will cook today for the first time since the 29th. I'll make chili--as it is chili kind of weather--and my DH loves it. Anyway, speaking of my DH--I attempted to get him to participate in cleaning out a book cupboard and he refused to give any books/comics away. He doesn't read them but that doesn't matter. So I tidied the cupboard and will recycle books that I no longer read. LOL. Funny how that works out......

@marcy hope you aren't working too hard. I signed up for a shift next week.

cheers--Sharon

I hate to hear this @missy. Keeping all of you in my thoughts.

Sending ((hugs)) and ❤️ and prayers @missy

Good morning girls. Thank you for keeping my dad in your thoughts and prayers. They gave him nebulizer treatments yesterday and last I spoke with my mom (who was staying overnight) he was still have difficulty breathing but was a little better. IDK what to think. They did chest X-rays but we haven't received the results yet.

@finerthings @Austina @canuk-gal @marcy @Slickk thank you so much

I am feeling down and trying not to feel overwhelmed. So much going on and it really is challenging at the moment to compartmentalize which I am trying to do.

Plus there is a HUGE storm system heading this way and predictions for lots of flooding and damage and power outages etc and my mom's home is really vulnerable. Across from the ocean and it always floods even in little rain events. So I just cannot imagine what might happen here and by her. And we have two important medical appointments tomorrow and a long drive to get there. Right during the morning prediction of heavy heavy rain as we leave at 445AM tomorrow. And some of my meds are still backordered which causes me anxiety too. So just a lot going on and thank you for letting me vent and share. Mainly just want my dad to get better but the realist in me feels like it is unlikely given that he has been in the hospital and rehab on and off (mainly on) for months now.

We did hike yesterday to try getting our minds off all that is happening and it is always nice to be in nature and getting our cardiovascular system working hard. Today however we might run errands but it is not a day to be outside. So we shall adjust accordingly.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying a good week. Sending love and hugs and well wishes.

Keeping you all in my thoughts, @missy. Bigs hugs to all.

Hello lovelies

Hoping you got to your appts safely today @missy, and that they went well. Lots of positive healing thoughts to your dear Dad and hoping he’s doing better every day.

I hope you’re feeling completely back to normal today @canuk-gal, unfortunately I’ve got the lurgy now. Not Covid, just a cold, but full of snot and coughing. Felt tired yesterday so just rested, and feeling considerably better today thankfully.

Sending love and hugs to all the NIRDIs.

:wavey:

Good afternoon lovely ladies. Happy wonderful Wednesday

@Austina I am so sorry you have a cold and hope you are feeling all better very soon. I am glad you are resting and letting your body heal. And very glad it is not Covid.

Thank you @Slickk and @marcy and @Austina and @canuk-gal and @bling_dream19 and @finerthings and @springerspaniel and @mrs-b and everyone else who is keeping my dad in your thoughts and prayers. He is not feeling well and not really eating but my mom is bringing him homemade food and he is eating a bit of that. My mom thinks he is depressed but who wouldn't be. I mean he has been in the hospital or rehab on and off (but mostly on) for many months now. He might also have a virus and at his age it can be a serious matter. It's so hard watching this unfold and feeling totally helpless in that I cannot fix this. As badly as I want to...I am reading a great book by Rabbi Steven Leder "the beauty that remains". Just wow. It is a thoughtful piece on life and death and dying. It might sound depressing but it is uplifting. And I rarely recommend books but this one is a keeper. I highly recommend.

Our appointments went well this morning with little traffic and a kind and flexible doctor. And Greg just got back from his afternoon appointment (surgical follow up of another issue) and all is good. Thank goodness. Tomorrow he gets the second cancerous mole removed and I will be happy when that is over. I am changing his dressings and let's just say I am not a fan of blood and gore. LOL. But at least I can help in this small way. I hate feeling useless so helping any way I can is always a plus.

On top of it all my sister has been sick for weeks and she is not doing well. I do think part of this is long covid and part is a different virus that everyone seems to have and add in her asthma and she is struggling. I overnighted her my nebulizer and meds (don't ask..she never goes to the dr because she has zero time) and hope that can bring her some relief. I feel overwhelmed with all that is happening here and in the world and I am doing my best to compartmentalize and function as well as I can. Greg's TKR surgery is in exactly two weeks and I just pray that goes smoothly with a good outcome.

OK sorry for my long winded update. Thank you for letting me vent and share with you.
I hope you are all doing well and sending my love and hugs to each and everyone of you

We did manage to squeeze in a hike today between appointments. Here is a photo from our hike

See you tomorrow girls. Enjoy a lovely evening

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!

@missy I am very sad about your sister and Dad as they are unwell. Are there "casual" Vets than can take her place so she can stay at home and rest? And your Dad, such a worry. I may pick up that book you recommend. We could all use some hopeful and soothing words. And faith.

@Austina healing vibes across the miles! Colds and flu SUCK!!!!!!!! I hope you have some petroleum to protect your nose from Kleenex! Gets sore and irritated from the blowing......

I don't want to add insult to injury, so I wont tell you of our temps. :eek2: Record warm to record cold. Enuf said.

Chili cheese dogs for supper tonight. Good thing my DH isn't discriminating. LOL

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I sure hate to hear you dad isn’t doing well and your sister and her family have struggled to recover. Sending healing vibes there way and hoping all of Greg’s surgeries and post surgeries go well. That book sounds like a keeper for sure. The longer we live, the more struggles and challenges we seem to find along the way. As you often say, we do the best we can and handle one day at a time. I am glad you and Greg got permits and lessons. Better to be safe than sorry. I am glad to hear your appointments went well.

@Austina I sure hope you and Colin are feeling better soon. How awful about people peering through windows. Even if we move to the country I want window covering, security cameras and an alarm system.

@canuk-gal I am glad you are feeling better and you did better than I would on shopping. We are the same here going to warmer than normal weather to colder than normal weather. The wind has been nuts and that’s saying something for windy Wyoming.

Chris did leave on Friday. She stayed in Denver with friends for a few days and heading back to Arizona today. We spent the weekend looking at lots and open houses. I think Marty is considering a spot 15 miles west of town. The skies are dark there but it’s by a sea of huge power windmills with flashing red lights. It’s a bit smaller than I’d like, but still plenty big for 2 of us. I’m still trying to figure out how we’d get our stuff in there. We’re looking at other houses tomorrow to see those floor plan. I’m at the point of just make up your mind!!! Ha Ha.

Other than work I haven’t done much else this week. Just trying to stay warm in our frigid temperatures. It’s heading below zero soon, but we haven’t had much snow.

All our Christmas decorations are taken down and put away. I have 2 mini cheesecakes left but no more cookies. Back to eating smarter.

Take care.
Marcy

@missy your deer picture reminds me the place west of town has antelope, deer and elk wander by. That would be cool.

GM girls and happy terrific Thursday!

@canuk-gal thank you so much for your kind and well wishes for my family...you can take that book out from the library. If you do read it please let me know what you think. I am only 1/5 of the way in because our endocrinologist took us early yesterday as I started the book. My sister was actually off from work for a week which is a record for her as she never takes off but she was that sick. Unfortunately they are short handed and her boss is grumpy and not empathetic at all. He is very old and he should retire tbh. He used to be nice but as time went on he got more and more grumpy. My sister is his right hand vet so if she is out he is in big trouble. She went back yesterday but had to come back home after half a day as she is still pretty unwell. She should not have gone back yesterday but she felt obligated to do so.

Thank you @marcy, I appreciate all your well wishes for my family. So true about the longer we live and challenges. I am glad you have your house back to yourselves and am wishing you much good luck with your house hunting. Whatever you both decide will be the right decision. I am glad you have not gotten much snow. We have another storm coming this weekend and then next week I am seeing snow predictions due to falling temps...oh no....Good for you taking down your decorations. We still have our tree up (haha big surprise I know). I am not sure when we will take it down because it is cheery having the lights from the tree brighten up the darkness.

@Slickk have a good day and yay the weekend is almost here

@bling_dream19 hope all is well with you and your family

@mrs-b how is Wendy doing?

@springerspaniel how is your winter going?

@Austina how are you feeling today? Hope your cold is all gone

Hi everyone else.

A bit of "good" news. In quotes because well not sure of the details but my dad was able to stand in PT yesterday. Nt sure if he was supported by a walker and how long he was able to stand but that is something as he has been bed bound for three weeks now. And has not been able to stand at all. Just praying this continues to move in the right direction because he is getting weaker by the day. He has been in bed for three weeks straight. Unable to stand or walk at all. So the fact he was able to stand yesterday even if for just a moment is progress.

Busy day today. As every day seems to be. Later Greg has the mole removal and then we both have Zoom calls. Greg's is board business and mine is pleasure. And before that we hope to go hiking. One of our last "mild" days

Hope you all have a good day. Be well. Enjoy

Screen Shot 2024-01-11 at 6.13.59 AM.png

@missy - so glad to hear your dad is standing - even for a second. I'm hoping he goes from strength to strength. How is his breathing? And good to hear about Greg's surgery being moved up. Hugs to you. oxo

Wendy is getting better slowly and is still in a fair bit of pain, the rib probably causing her more discomfort than the arm. She's better than she was, tho, and we're just hoping she can get home ok when she leaves in 8 days.

Im almost completely better, tho the cough lingers. The shingles rash has almost completely gone as well, so Im feeling much more comfortable. Today we're going wine tasting which, frankly, will probably be a good thing for all of us!

@marcy - I hope you find somewhere that you love. Moving is a pain in the neck, so the destination had better make it worth while!

@canuk-gal - glad to hear you tested -ve. Did you find some lamps? Oddly, light fittings of all kinds are one of the things that are way more expensive in the US than in Australia. Go figure. We were shocked when we saw the prices!

Austina - how are you feeling? I'm hoping you've recovered quickly, tho my experience of the current lurgies is that they persevere. How's Colin? Did he manage to dodge it?

Got to hit the shower now to get ready for a little day drinking. Hoping you all have a lovely Thursday! <3

Hello lovelies

Your poor sister sounds completely burnt out @missy, and sounds like she needs a couple of weeks off work to get better. Take the small wins, the fact that your dear Dad was able to stand after being in bed for so long is a good sign. I really hope he can get stronger so that he can make a good recovery and get back to your Mum soon. She must be missing him so much, and I’m sure getting to and from the hospital is taking it out of her too. I hope Greg’s mole removal went well, and it checks out A OK.

It could be that the prowlers were trying to score Christmas presents @marcy, but who knows. They’d have to scale our fences to get in to our back garden, and we have cameras around the house, plus I don’t leave any of the blinds open at night, plus our alarm is on at night and whenever we’re out of the house Living at the top end of the development makes us less of a target, as burglars like to have a quick and easy exit for a get away. I know you’ll find the right place for your new home, so don’t settle, it’s a big decision (and expense).

It’s 71 here today @canuk-gal , but we’re in for a freeze next week, with temperatures set to plummet. I’ve been using Vicks vaporub on my nose, not just to clear my airways, but it’s also Vaseline like in texture.

Glad to hear you’re feeling somewhat better @mrs-b, I’ve been sounding like someone with a 200 a day habit, but fortunately, I’m not coughing at night. Colin’s fine, just having difficultly getting an ’urgent’ appt with the ENT doc. Poor Wendy, cracked/broken ribs take forever to heal. I was also o_O at the cost of light fixtures, they were much cheaper in the UK but are extortionately expensive in the US.

Thank you all for the good wishes, I woke up feeling considerably better this morning, so I masked up and we went to Costco and then to do our regular food shopping. I’m feeling a bit worse for wear now, but I’m sure I’ll be fighting fit again soon. It’s a nuisance more than anything else. I’m trying not to take too many cold & flu remedies because I’m allergic to the paracetamol in them, and don’t need to be covered in a rash on top of everything else.

How on earth is it Friday again tomorrow?

:wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!

@missy Your Pops was up!!! I hope he got to take in that beautiful view...if only for a moment. Something is right in the world today.

@marcy house hunting is such a chore, much success to you!!!! Hoping your SIL has safe travels.

@mrs-b oh I think a wine tasting is JUST what ya'll needed! Great decision!! Sorry that Wendy is in pain. Not so happy times. Well everything in Canada is very expensive. My lamps needs are particular--by dimension, space, design...yanno the drill. I have a few on my wish list.

Gosh, somebody here needs to do the dishes!!! It was minus one trillion degrees here today but at least I got groceries.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy that is great to hear your dad was standing today. Keeping him and all of you in my thoughts. I hope Greg’s procedure went well and that your sister starts feeling better. What a pretty red fox.

@mrs-b how was day drinking? It sounds fun. I am such a lightweight drinker anymore, 2 glasses and I’m done and then I can’t sleep that night, but I still enjoy my wine now and then. That is good news you are feeling better and Wendy is doing better. I hate to hear she is still in a lot of pain. We were out and about in snow and ice today but Marty helped me anytime we were on ice.

@Austina sounds like you have as much protection and security as you can. I want that even if we move to the country. We’ve got it all set up here. Glad to hear you woke up feeling better but darn that your outing wore you out a bit. I don’t take cold or allergy medicine either. DayQuil drops my IQ about 40 points, antihistamines turn me in to a crybaby b*tch. So it’s best I stay away from them.

@canuk-gal did someone do the dishes? I’m so OCD that is the one spot in my house always picked up and done is the kitchen. Your minus 1 trillion degrees is moving in here tomorrow. Today we topped out in the low 20’s and it is only downhill from there.

Thank you for the tips on house buying and hunting. Yes it is a pain and time consuming, but you ladies are so right, don’t rush it and make sure it’s right. One of the two plans we say today might be it. We both really like the plan. It’s about 500 square feet smaller per floor than this house and we did already decide to downsize since we are doing this. But it all works. Plus the basement will have a finished family room and we can finish the other rooms later. We’d want on a few little changes so we’ll see if it works out. The lots the builder already has won’t work for a walkout for the basement, but no walkout and maybe a lower price on the lot will drop that price since houses have big sticker shocks on them right now. We’ll see what happens after we meet With the builder on Tuesday.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning girls and happy friYAY! And happy 18th birthday to my sweet niece B.

@Austina thanks. My sister is using my nebulizer now and feeling slightly better though still coughing up a storm. I am begging her to make an appointment with her doctor. She has to start making her health a priority which she is not doing. I know her kids come first but without her being well she cannot be there for them.

Ugh I am sorry Colin is having trouble getting an emergency appointment with the ENT. Why is everything so hard? I was on the phone with Cigna for an hour last night told my med situation was straightened out and nope. So here I am again. On the phone right now with Cigna for 78 (!!!!) minutes and counting now trying to get this mess fixed. Nothing is easy. Greg kindly offered to do the call to fix this for me but I really didn't want to have him deal with this because it's not fair. It's super frustrating and time consuming and his schedule is busy enough. But I love him so much for wanting to make this easier for me and take the brunt of it

Wow 71 so lucky. What amazing temps. It's in the 40s here but soon to be in the 30s this weekend. Brrrrrr

@canuk-gal thank you and yes you are right..grateful for the good and one day at a time... stay warm it's too cold!

@marcy thank you. It went OK, Long story but I will share below as there are new issues. Always. Right? Never a dull moment here
Good luck with the house decisions. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you

@Slickk happy almost weekend

@bling_dream19 happy FriYAY

@mrs-b glad Wendy is coming along and continued healing vibes to her and you

Some of Greg's labs came back and his WBC count is high. And hs CRP is high :(
I made an appointment with our PCP for him today and just praying everything will be OK. As you might remember this summer he was hospitalized due to elevated WBC count so this is serious. His TKR surgery might not be able to happen if his WBCs remain elevated. We cannot risk it. I also made an appointment with my hematologist for next Thursday for Greg just in case. And he has his pre surgical at HSS next Wednesday so hopefully they will run blood work. He cannot risk surgery if there is any kind of health issue going on right now. I am trying to not stress about this but failing miserably. This summer was very scary and they never did find the source of the infection.

I am so tired so am going to leave it there. I wish you all a happy FriYAY and a good weekend. XOXO

In honor of my sweet niece who is 18 today...here is a photo from a few months ago. Happy happy birthday...18. Wow. I cannot even remember my 18th truth be told. No memory whatsoever of what I did, where I was and who I celebrated with though likely it was my family :)

Hello lovelies, happy FriYay!

Happy birthday to your sweet niece @missy, wow they certainly grow up fast, I remember them getting Zena and look how big they are now. I hope the nebuliser works for your sister and she starts to feel a lot better soon. Sorry to hear that Greg’s bloods are causing concern and hopefully it’s something that can be explained and sorted out before his knee surgery. Life certainly likes to keep throwing curve balls your way. Sending continuing good vibes to you all for better health.

Sounds like you’ve almost settled on a floor plan @marcy, and at least you’re in the fortunate position of not having to move, so can make sure everything is right before you do. I’ve laid off the cold medicine today because it’s messing with my stomach, but the downside of that is that I’m feeling a bit worse for wear.

Looks like we’re going to be in solid minus figures next week @canuk-gal, I can see it causing all sorts of issues because people here have no idea how to drive on icy roads.

Colin chased up his appt today, to be told by the ENT clinic they hadn’t received the referral, phone call to ARC who said they faxed it yesterday (I didn’t know people still had fax machines), and they’d resend it. Called the ENT back who said they’ve received it, but of course the appts for next week were already gone, so he’s got an appt a week on Monday - so much for urgent.

No plans for the weekend, so no reason to venture out, we’ll be staying in and keeping warm.

:wavey:

Happy Caturday Saturday girls!

@Austina it certainly does. I remember holding B in my arms while my sister gave birth to A and B drooled all over my shirt. LOL. I remember that as clear as day. It all goes too fast. Life feels long when we are young but as we get older we know better. It starts speeding by faster than one ever could imagine when younger. In a blink of the eye it is over. Truly that is how it seems. OK enough cheery thoughts lol. One upbeat note is Greg repeated the CBC yesterday afternoon at the PCP and we just got the results this morning. HIs WBC count went down thank goodness. Top of range but in range so I will take it. My heart was beating so fast when I saw the email from Bioreference labs and I was shaking when I opened it. OMG aging is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Oh no to icy roads next week. We also are going to be experiencing cold weather come tomorrow or tonight. Not looking forward to it but one day at a time. And you are so right. People who are not experienced drivers in the ice and snow are dangerous on the roads. Everyone needs to stay off the roads when conditions are icy if they do not know how to drive under those conditions. IMO

Ugh to Colin's ENT appointment being over a week away. So much for emergency appointments I guess. I don't know if this would be helpful but what I would do under these circumstances is call every day for cancellations. There are usually cancellations. Especially if the weather is inclement. So maybe he could get in sooner

Your weekend plans sound purrrrfect tbh. Hoping to hike today and tomorrow to see my dad. I am concerned about him and also concerned that the rehab takes Covid patients and we have to keep Greg safe before his surgery. But Greg and I both want to visit my dad. I am really torn because the whole floor has one side now with Covid patients. Even wearing N95 masks if there is a lot of virus in the air we are less protected especially because we stay for hours. The longer we are there the riskier it gets with viral overload. But it's a long trip and we aren't going to visit for 15 minutes. Ugh. Always challenging decisions. Nothing is easy. Thanks for listening and if you have any advice I appreciate it.

@bling_dream19 happy weekend sweet friend

@Slickk I hope your weekend plans are very enjoyable and you get to recuperate from the week and have a fun weekend

@canuk-gal stay warm and cozy and have a terrific weekend

@mrs-b I hope your weekend goes well and that you and Wendy get to enjoy together before she leaves for home and may her recovery continue to go well

@springerspaniel I hope all is well with you and your sweet family

@marcy fingers crossed for your house decisions...please let us know what you both decide...house warming at Marcy's :)

Yesterday we ran errands and then saw the PCP. Today is hiking. Tomorrow probably seeing my dad. Read above for my hesitation. I hope you all enjoy a terrific weekend. Be well. Have fun. Live in the moment. Enjoy that sandwich (from a quote by Steve Leder)

Leaving you with a blast from the past....7 years ago today we had the most lovely visit with @MarionC

Enjoy a purrrrrfectly marvelous Caturday Saturday lovely ladies. XOXO

Oops almost forgot...in honor of Caturday Saturday may I present Gracie Frances and Tommy Joseph actually sharing the pillow. LOL wonders never cease though poor Tommy is practically falling off and Gracie is hogging it. For the record that is Tommy's pillow to lay next to us on the couch. That is his spot but last night Princess Gracie decided to get in on the action

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A balmy -27C! WOOT!!!! It was 10 degrees colder a few night ago, so I'll shut up now! I went out for some takeout and it was very quiet. Roads like a skating rink. My DH went DT (like WOT?) and came home with a suit. A suit? Like are you going to a wedding or funeral? Who wears suits these days?? He just HAD to have it, so there you go. I chuckled--this is a man who hates to shop....but loves online browsing! LOL. He found what he wanted and DT he went.... He called a friend about cruises yesterday....

Anyway, I am making beef bourgoine for Sunday supper. Beef marinating in wine now.

cheers--Sharon
