Now I really did it :((

Hello lovelies

Woke up feeling a million times better this morning, I didn’t take any meds yesterday because my stomach was suffering.

So glad Greg‘s count was down @missy, even if it’s not perfect, it’s a step in the right direction. I hope you found your Dad in good spirits, and you can only take as many precautions as you can and hope for the best. I’m sure the time you spend with him is worth the risk, and hopefully you’ll be fine. I know you’d regret not going, so just keeping thinking positive thoughts. Colin did tell them he’s available if a cancellation came up, but TBH, with the weather forecast, I really don’t think I’d be comfortable driving all the way there next week. It’s quite a way and the roads are windy, twisting and cambered, not ideal, especially if it’s icy. His ear is OK, and I flushed it again this morning and he said it feels clearer.

Positively tropical @canuk-gal  Men are strange creatures, if you’d suggested a suit, I expect he’d ask why on earth you thought he needed one. If you have any questions about cruising, (not that I’m an expert), I’d be happy to help in any way. It really is a case of finding the right fit, otherwise you won’t enjoy the experience, and possibly be put off for life!

I hope all the lovely NIRIDIs are keeping safe and warm, seems the bad weather is going to be covering most of the country.

Have a lovely weekend :wavey:

HI:

@Austina I just might hit you up for cruise info! He is an Engineer--DETAILS!!!!! As for the the suit he said after watching Oppenheimer 2.5 times --he needed a suit? Doesn't matter, he loves the brand and is happy..but we had a good laugh over that "reason"....

cheers--Sharon

GM girls and happy Sunday!

@canuk-gal ha I hear you. It seems no one wears suits anymore. We were just discussing this. Greg has so many (beautiful) suits but we are thinking of donating them (all excellent quality and condition) because he has not worn a suit since before the pandemic. A balmy -27C brrrr don't melt lol. I hope your beef bourgoine for Sunday supper is yummy and filling and keeps you all warm during these chilly temps

@Austina I am glad Colin is feeling better once you flushed his ears and yes if roads are dangerous best to hold off til the next week when hopefully the weather will have improved.

@Slickk hope you are having a wonderful weekend

@bling_dream19 hope you are staying warm and enjoying a lovely weekend

Love you @Tekate, please hug your sweet grandkids from me

My sister and family (all feeling much better finally thank goodness) visited my dad yesterday and we are going today. We will mask up and will not stay as long as usual but at least we will see him and visit for a short time. We had a challenging hike yesterday but it felt great. It was very mild to start (60F!!!!) but as the day went on the temps dropped like 20 degrees and the wind picked up. CraZy weather here. One minute it's spring and the next winter. Brrrrrr. And it seems our cold weather is here to stay for a while. Oh well

Enjoy a wonderful and super satisfying Sunday. Be well. XOXO

My sister's family yesterday with my dad
(I do not approve of these masks but OK to each her/his own)

Hard times in this world right now,

Going through a freezing few days here in the Atown area I'm sure Austina has clued you guys in, My best friend had a heart transplant last May, what a crazy time, tooooo long to even give a synopsis but she is doing well now, kinda back to her pre
heart failure Kath, I never mention God, God is personal, God is what one thinks God is, I make no judgements, I never ask God for anything I figured my God gave me a brain and I should use it and not be askin' but doin'. BUT I THANK GOD very very much for the donor of Kath's new heart, what a gift, how this person allowed me years more with my friend Kath, who've I've known since April of 1985. Thank you God. :)

Okay! anyone has anything to share please share it so I can catch up ladies!

LOVE to you all, the finest and best of life and of course PS.

Eden and Granny last weekend! She is sooooo different than Autumn, so this is it for my son, he says daycare and life is too expensive for more, I get that.

My younger son, he was talking to me the other day and he said he loves Mike's choice in life but that his choice is to work on career and accumulating money to retire early and maybe after that he will have a child, he's totally into investments etc, saving he's my sweetheart and my consternation and I love him to the moon and back.

Good to know and glad you're feeling BETTER!

@missy - so glad to hear your dad is standing - even for a second. I'm hoping he goes from strength to strength. How is his breathing? And good to hear about Greg's surgery being moved up. Hugs to you. oxo

Wendy is getting better slowly and is still in a fair bit of pain, the rib probably causing her more discomfort than the arm. She's better than she was, tho, and we're just hoping she can get home ok when she leaves in 8 days.

Im almost completely better, tho the cough lingers. The shingles rash has almost completely gone as well, so Im feeling much more comfortable. Today we're going wine tasting which, frankly, will probably be a good thing for all of us!

@marcy - I hope you find somewhere that you love. Moving is a pain in the neck, so the destination had better make it worth while!

@canuk-gal - glad to hear you tested -ve. Did you find some lamps? Oddly, light fittings of all kinds are one of the things that are way more expensive in the US than in Australia. Go figure. We were shocked when we saw the prices!

Austina - how are you feeling? I'm hoping you've recovered quickly, tho my experience of the current lurgies is that they persevere. How's Colin? Did he manage to dodge it?

Got to hit the shower now to get ready for a little day drinking. Hoping you all have a lovely Thursday! <3

SHINGLES! Oh god I got a great story about my shingles:

Like 12 years ago we took our songs and my older son's girlfriend to NYC from Austin for their first trip to the Big Apple! Stressful because young adults are a PITA, especially if they are very different.

We stayed at the Casablanca hotel in Times Squarre (don't know if it's still there), so the 2nd morning I woke up, felt crappy, went to the bathroom and was doing our usual cleanups and on my lower back I felt all these BLISTERS! I thought Jeez I must have incurred this on the plane from TX to NYC. Sooo, the next morning I got up and was standing in front of the mirror in the bath and I see this HUGE red swelling (I thought anyway) under my left arm - I immediately thought!! OH GOD I HAVE A HUGE CELLULITIS, since I'd had one (not this big) on my breast (okay another story), so I run and tell John we HAVE GOT TO GO HOME NOW, I'm sick :) So programmer John says to me NO! we'll find a doctor here (in Times Square) and I'm thinking Oh POOP a doc in the box in Times Square probably went to some crackpot university and medical school, well John made an appt with a doc in Walgreens in Times Squre, I went in and I showed him the red area and he says "hmm there's not swelling"??? and then I say I have blisters in my lady bits area and all the way up my rear derriere and it's itchy, so he said "Let me see, so I bend and he cannot help himself he says" Ma'am you have shingles in your "ladybits area" (He actually used medical terms), then he tee heee heee hee a bit.. gave me script for the virus killer and a pain killer and some nerve medicine thingy and said if my red area get's worse when I go home that I should see my regular physician.. so we go home and I run to my doctor and she says "yup you have ladybits shingles and the meds are fine and there just seems to be a red big spot under my arm into my chest and to just watch it!..... So I go home and I'm doing the laundry and John had recently been to Israel and brought me back a RED T shirt, I love that shirt, the Israeli flag, so I moisten it and uh oh the red comes off, so my cellulitis turned into red dye on my arm, chest and underarm.. Well that is my story and I got over my ladybits shingles and never had any residual pain, lucky me.

A close friend of my in CT told me she had shingles in the same place!

So I've gotten one of the 2 shingle shots so far.

Take care MrsB! xoxoxo

Too late--we cannot ignore this!!!! HA

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I am glad your nebulizer is helping your sister. Your nieces are so adorable and happy birthday to your oldest niece. Ugh to spending time on the phone with insurance. It is a PITA. I hate to hear Greg’s WBC is high but that’s good the number went down a bit. I hope they find out what’s going on and it‘s and it’s easily treatable. Marty has a sea of suits too and I suggested he get rid of a bunch of them if (or when) we move. I bet most of them don’t fit his arms anymore anyway. Many were prior to his lifting days began. I hope you had a nice visit with your dad today and he is doing better. Lovely sunset.

@Austina sorry you are still battling with your cold but glad you woke up feeling better today. Marty is still using some Nyquil severe cold and cough sometimes to get some sleep. I hate to hear your area of the country is getting in on the frigid temps. My boss said all her flowers froze. I hate to hear Colin can’t get to see the ENT right away. I hope they figure out what’s going on with him and it’s an easy fix.

@canuk-gal too funny your DH came home with a new suit and because he liked them in Oppenheimer. Women wore dresses all the time then too. You are right, you don’t see people in suits or dresses too often anymore. Sorry to hear it’s cold and icy there, it’s the same here. I’ve been wearing thermal underwear all weekend. It has kept me warmer than normal. Your supper sounds delicious. I made beef noodle soup.

@Tekate your grandkids are growing and are so cute. I am glad your best friend is doing well with her heart transplant. I am glad you and John are doing fine, us old folks appreciate each day, eh? I never thought I’d live this long. Thank you, I am glad you enjoy my pictures. I planned on taking a lot of pictures when I retired, but now I’m working instead of going out with my camera.

We had another busy weekend doing our ongoing open house / lot looking hobby. We even ventured out in the subzero / snowy weather yesterday. I told Marty he is like a dog with a bone on this. To be honest, he found out there are other lots he can look out west of town so I’m surprised we weren’t out there today.

We also went to a local homes show. Kind of smaller than expected but Marty did talk to a few businesses about building his observatory and who have those little tractors for mowing acreage. It’s be my vehicle to the observatory. Ha Ha.

I have about 8” done on a new vest I am making for a friend of mine‘s birthday. It’s got a lacy stitch pattern so I have to pay attention to what I’m doing.

The lots out west will have a lot of wildlife. Here’s some antelope we saw yesterday leaving the area. My sentimental idea if we move there is we’ll put my old rusty / dried out wooden bench outside to watch for wildlife. The reason? My dad bought it for me and he’d love hanging out on the bench watching for deer, antelope and elk. I guess an occasional moose comes by out there as well.

Take care.

Good morning girls and happy (how did you get here so fast) Monday!

@Tekate Kate the Great, love you too. and your grandchildren are precious and the love and joy in your eyes says it all. Beautiful photos. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I am glad you are getting both shingle vaccinations. Both Greg and I had shingles (he had shingles in his 30s and I had it at 20 years later) and it was no fun. The actual shingles was fine (not bad for me) but the aftermath was awful. That year was a bad health year all around. Anyway we got the Shingles vaccination two summers ago and hoping it holds.

@marcy thank you sweet friend. And I am sending many warmer weather vibes your way. Speaking of no fun winter is no fun. I am not a fan of the cold. The only good thing is wearing my boots and winter coats and hats which I like but the cold weather I find painful. Lucky friend getting your beautiful home knitted vests. I am sure she will be thrilled. Wishing you so much good luck in the house decision. Not an easy one at all. Ooh love the antelope. I am with your dad. I love watching wildlife. So majestic and beautiful.

@Austina hope you are enjoying a relaxing and peaceful holiday weekend warm and cozy

@springerspaniel how is everyone by you? I hope you are having a lovely holiday weekend

@mrs-b I don't know what your weather is doing at the moment but our windchills right now are 15F and I am concerned for the feral kitties. I hope Wendy is doing as well as possible and you and Tim are doing well and feeling good and hugs to you and the furry babies

@Slickk thank you. The visit went well. One of my friends asked me if he was home yet. I unfortunately do not think that will be any time soon. Just praying he will be able to come home eventually.

@bling_dream19 good morning

We had a good visit with my dad yesterday and my mom arrived as we were leaving as planned. He is bored because he is in bed all day most of the day and on weekends all day as there is no PT. But in PT he has not done anything more than stand while leaning so he still isn't putting much weight on his legs. I am hoping he will make progress even if it is slow progress.

It started snowing (flurrying) on our way home and it was so pretty. And fortunately nothing stuck. I don't mind the actual snow from the sky but I do not want any of it on the ground lol.

Today I am doing a 24 hour urine test. Always love those (not). I find it challenging to be honest. To get all of it collected. I won't go into details but I cannot capture all of it when having a BM. OK I just went there lol. Sorry.

Our cold weather is here for a while so making the best of it. Stay warm. Stay cozy. Stay well. Love you girls. XOXO

Happy MLK Jr Day!

Happy MonYay lovelies

Aww @missy, you can just see how happy your Dad was to see you. I hope he knows that as well as his real family, the NIRDI family are all willing him on to better health. I hear you, it’s definitely easier for men to do a specimen collection. No snow here but it’s -6 degs C, and everything looks like a winter wonderland.

It’d be lovely to see all that wildlife from your bench @marcy, especially as it holds such lovely memories for you. It’s good that you’re exploring all avenues for your new home, and I know the right place is out there.

 We used to play Mario on the Nintendo @Tekate, it was always great fun. Lovely photos of the girls and your boys, such a happy family. Looking forward to meeting up again when the weather returns to normal.

How’s everything with you and the pups @springerspaniel ?

We’re fully intending to watch Oppenheimer again @canuk-gal, we didn’t see it all in one go on the ship, and I think I may have fallen asleep during some of it

We’ve cancelled our medical appts for tomorrow, not worth the risk of dealing with people who can’t drive in these conditions.

Just getting on with the mundane things, cleaning and laundry.

Keep safe and warm :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thankfully the temps are easing--but snow is predicted. Bright and sunny out tho.

@Tekate how wonderful to hear from you! And lovely pics!! Thank for sharing!!

@missy your Dad does look very pleased to have company--it must be frightfully boring for him. Healing vibes his way! My DH got rid of his suits a few years ago--they simply weren't worn due to changes in dress policies. He bought one a few years ago, and now this one. But I kinda like the trimmer lines of suits these days anyway.

@marcy good luck with house hunting, it can be a fun chore. LOL.

@Austina I didn't get through Oppenhiemer in one go either, but with PPV you get it for 48 hours so I finished it....then rewatched the first half over again. I didn't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.

I am not much for left overs but the beef bourgonine is better day 2. I work on Wed for the first time in a month!

cheer--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy ugh to collecting that 24 hour sample. Not a fun task at all. Nice you got to visit your dad and see your mom as well. I continue to send mega dust to your dad for his recovery. Keeping you all in my thoughts. I’m with you snow is pretty but I wish it’d stay off the road and sidewalks. But coats, sweaters, hats and boots are fun. Love the tree shot. Very nice.

@Austina good idea to stay home if it’s icy and snowy. I doubt many of your neighbors have driven in it much. Most highways are closed around here between drifts and blowing snow.

@canuk-gal isn’t it amazing how some food tastes better the 2nd day? Your beef bourgonine sounds great. I had another bowl of my soup for supper and it hit the spot. I think tomato sauce is better the next day as well. House hunting is a fun chore - that described it well. Kind of exciting but lots of work.

I didn’t stick my nose out the door today. It was below zero all day with wind chills very low. Work was a bit frantic today but mostly because I was trying to get something done and stay up with an active chat about videos we are going to do. I quit about 4 p.m. and lifted.

We are meeting another borrower tomorrow. I started a spreadsheet tonight on plans we like, square foot, pricing, etc. Maybe we’ll make a decision soon. One can hope.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning lovely ladies and happy terrific snowy Tuesday!

@Austina thank you. It is cold by you and now it is cold here. With snow. Ugh. I was so happy last winter with no snow. Today Greg has a 640AM at Quest and I just have a feeling the employees will be late because they are late under good weather conditions now that our guy isn't working there anymore. Drat. I hope the roads are safe to travel and that salt was put down on secondary roads too. I agree it was smart to cancel any medical appointments if the roads are unsafe. We have yet to see Oppenheimer and it is on the list

@marcy truth. But I am done with the collection yay. And later we will drop it off at fed ex. Glad that is (almost) over. Thank you for your continuing good wishes. I have a hopeful update below. Good luck with this decision. I know it is not an easy one and I know it is a bit nerve wracking but you will make the right decision. Of that I am confident.

@canuk-gal thank you. Yes he is happy to have company. My mom usually goes and spends the day and they play cards and such so it helps pass the time. Plus PT once a day though not sure how long they actually are in PT each day. I love leftovers and usually find them tastier the day(s) after. Plus so easy to prepare (leftovers) lol. We have snow here. I would have rather it not come this way but here it is and I think I saw there is more on the way later this week. Noooooo snooooooow. OK winter is here. Time to leave soon please. Stay warm

@Slickk hope school is going well and maybe today is a snow day?

@bling_dream19 how are you doing? Thinking of you

@mrs-b hope all is comfy cozy by you and things going well

@springerspaniel happy Tuesday

So yesterday in PT my mom called me as my dad took a few steps woohoo. She called from the PT room and she isn't even supposed to be there so we didn't chat but we are all very relieved and hope this progress continues. He is still on oxygen as needed and I do not know why he is having issues breathing. So that is a concern. But progress was made and I will focus on the positive and hope for the best. Thank you all for your continued good wishes XOXO

No photos yet of the snow but here are a few snowy photos from winter's past

Very rare to get snow on the beach

And though we did not get significant snow last year here is a photo from the backyard last february when there was ice and some snow because it was so cold. No significant precipitation but this is what happened due to the icy cold conditions

Enjoy a (snowy as the case may be for you) terrific Tuesday...be well. XOXO

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy that's wonderful. your take took a few steps. Slow and steady ... Your former snow pictures are quite pretty. I'd say we ended up with about 6-8 inches. Marty had to run the snow blower again today. At least it got above zero today, not above freezing though and those darn wind chill temps made for another frigid day.

@Austina and @Tekate I hope you didn't lose power. Our local utility company sent our an email to conserve energy. Some of Marty's clients are attorneys for the city and said both electric companies told the local officials they are worried. I'm like, this is Wyoming - how can they be surprised we get this cold? And it's more than once a year. IMO, they just want to have an excuse to raise their rates.

I slept in and didn't work much during the day. It was like I was a retiree or something. The meeting with the builder took a few hours and we ran out to see a lot he has. Marty kind of liked it after walking across the snowy field to see the spot where his observatory might work. He's more concerned about that than the house. I on the other hand, am more concerned about can I get Door Dash delivery there?

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy wonderful Wednesday. Just a quick post and vent as we woke up late. Busy day today. Greg has his presurgical testing for TKR surgery today at HSS. Roads are icy but he feels confident that he will be safe driving.

My dad is not doing well. After the other day of taking some steps yesterday he refused PT because his legs hurt him. Nothing we said changed his mind. So stubborn. He is just laying in bed and if he won't do PT they will kick him out and put him in a nursing home and my mom is furious with him. And for the first time ever he told me he didn't want to speak to me or my sister when we both called trying to change his mind about PT. I feel like I am getting ready to accept the inevitable as awful as that sounds.

Both Greg and I have offered to find them a home near us (or near my sister-whatever worked best for them) and to pay for their cats to be taken to a rescue group that will allow them to live the rest of their life in safety. And we would take their non feral cat JJ. We cannot take their feral cats unfortunately. We just cannot. As much as I wish we could. And my sister cannot either.

The animal rescue group charges 5K a cat. My parents have 9 cats. Not to mention their outdoor ferals but we cannot do anything about the outdoor ferals. It is a nightmare. Not only dealing with my dad's decline but worrying about their animals that honestly they had no business taking in at this late stage of their lives. They refuse to see reality. I am gutted over this entire situation and I love my parents but we can only do what we can do. We cannot force them to do anything. My sister is equally frustrated.

@marcy thank you for your continued well wishes and kind words. I am very sad about what is happening. The future is inevitable and it does not look good. I cannot be upbeat about any of this. It just isn't in my personality. I am a realist. LOL glad you were acting like a retiree yesterday and I am with you. Can you get door dash is an important question. That and where is the nearest Costco and Whole foods and Trader Joe's. LOL. I hope you can get eveyrthing you need plus a good location for Marty's observatory.

Hello everyone else. Have a good day. Sorry for the down post. Thanks for letting me share.

Taken a few days ago. 8 of my parents 9 indoor cats. Only jj is friendly. The other 8 won’t come out usually for anyone but my parents though when Greg and I visit if I feed them many do come out. But won’t stay.

Hello lovelies

Oh @missy, I’m so sorry to hear the latest developments with your dear Dad. I expect he’s suffering from depression, who wouldn’t be after being in his position? Pain is so debilitating and all you can do is hope that his painful legs ease up, and he wants to resume PT. Ultimately, as you say, you can’t force your parents to do anything they don’t want to, and much as I hate to say this, perhaps at the moment, your father feels that he’s had enough. We can only hope and pray the situation changes, and he has a charge of heart. I hope you don’t mind me saying this, but I know you’re a realist, and understand that sometimes despite the best intentions, people have to do what they feel is best for them. Be brave and prepared. I hope everything goes well today for Greg and his pre surgery appt.

Despite the freezing weather, we were actually generating all our electricity yesterday through solar @marcy. It was slightly ‘warmer’ yesterday, but that didn’t stop ice appearing on the sheer wall of the pool. Don’t really understand that, as it’s been colder on previous days. Another bright day here today, and it’s going to just over freezing, and would you believe that tomorrow’s temps are predicted to be 70 degs! It’s just crazy, but hopefully this will be the last of these freezing temps and we’ll be back to normal next week. As you say, just ridiculous that your local utility companies are not prepared for your weather. Sounds like things are moving along and you’ll be making a decision soon about the house. A big YES about ensuring you’re not somewhere too remote, because this is (hopefully) going to be your last move and you need to think long term. Fortunately for us, we have a big HEB just a few minutes away, who do home deliveries, although ultimately, we may not stay here long term depending on health and other factors.

Nothing going on here, we’ve been staying in and keeping warm, I’m still not completely over my cold, but getting there and generally not feeling too bad.

Keep safe and warm lovely NIRDIs.

:wavey:

Hi @missy -- I emailed you via my aol account.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!

@missy you have a lot on your plate; sad times and lots of big decisions --I wish it wasn't so. I suspect your Dad is tired because being in pain really wears one out. It is still snowing here and the roads were meh.

@marcy we had a utility warning alert on the weekend also--very sobering. Don't underestimate the need for uber-eats!!!

@Austina glad you are on the mend. All this bad weather has our knickers in a knot! Go away bad weather and DONT COME BACK!

@mrs-b hope you and your family/friend are well/improving.

Stay safe and well folks!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy my heart is aching with you, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he changes his mind about trying PT again, but I can understand how he feels. Dealing with pain and/or aging is not easy. As @Austina put so well, we can't force someone to change their mind and sometimes people just decide to give up. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

@Austina glad your solar power can keep you going. I hope your cold spell is over for the year, I doubt I can say that. I do worry about moving to the country since I'm not a spring chicken and Marty is younger than me but he's no kid either. The spot up north is more suited to easy access to the interstate and town. We'll see. As you say, you never know what will happen.

@canuk-gal all the electric companies want to raise rates, my mind went to it's a scare tactic to raise all our rates. Some place in Wyoming that gets their gas and electric from a company out of Washington state (I think) had their power source want to raise their rates 45%. Ugh. Yes, Uber eats and Door Dash are useful. I finally emailed Tiffany's customer service today to see if they can size my Etoile band. I am guessing I'll get a "no" but I thought I'd ask. I might get sizing bands put in it. I thought of seeing about getting a thin layer of gold put inside but I hate to alter a Tiffany band.

Marty met with the builder we talked to yesterday at the lot out north. I didn't venture out in the cold. The guy owns the other 2 lots to the south of that lot as well and it was good he went out there with Marty. This lot wouldn't work for a walkout but knocks $20,000 off the price. He agreed on the spot where the observatory would be and it the 2nd lot from this one had a house built it on it would be in the same light of sight as one already on a higher hill. Marty seemed pleased with his assessment. We got another price from another builder and apparently have a better offer from someone we talked to a few weeks ago. Maybe Marty will pick something soon. I started a spreadsheet to keep track of it all.

Since I missed several hours of work yesterday, I was way behind on a countdown video we're going to do for the April 8 eclipse. My first contribution was all WRONG but now I think I'm caught up.

Here was this morning's lovely sunrise.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning lovely ladies and happy terrific Thursday!

@Austina lucky you...I would love 70 degree weather right about now though the weather is certainly schizophrenic and that causes its own issues. Thank you for your wise words. And you are quite right. Pain is a game changer and chronic pain is debilitating not just physically but mentally. Your are correct in your assessment... I am a realist for sure. Though I also have hope because without hope what is left. My dad did stand yesterday in PT and they are going very slowly with him so hopefully he will and can improve. One day at a time. But whatever happens is truly out of my control so I need to focus on accepting what happens while hoping for the best. Enjoy your gorgeous weather and please send some warmth our way lol

@canuk-gal yes I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head. Pain wears one out for sure. Our snow stopped but another storm is coming tomorrow morning into the weekend. Have I said how much I do not care for winter? As my chilblains keeps on giving and giving and giving. As I type I am reminded of the fact it isn't going away speaking of pain/discomfort. Oh well. I have that med the rheumatologist gave me to try but I am hesitant because every med has other effects and could potentially affect my thyroid meds so I have not yet tried it. Keeping my hands warm seems an impossibility but I do have heat packs with me almost all the time even indoors. LOL. One does what one must do right? I hope your winter storms are behaving and hopefully the better weather will be here sooner than expected...fingers crossed

@marcy gorgeous sunrise. Those colors are spectacular. Reminds me of our precious gems. Thank you for your continued empathy and compassion for my dad and family. He did go to PT yesterday but they are going (even more) slowly and he just practiced standing. He cannot put full weight on his legs yet and when he walked the other day it was with a lot of support. He was feeling better yesterday so hopefully this will continue. I gave him my THC gummies months ago and gave him more last weekend and they are helping him sleep. At 3$ a gummy it is worth it. My mom asked me to bring more. LOL it's funny because my dad drilled it into us from a young age not to do drugs. So I might have been the only person left in the world who never smoked pot let alone done anything stronger. Then as an adult at the tender age of being in my mid 50s I tried my first THC gummy and was able to sleep so much better. It is a miracle drug IMO and thank goodness it is legal and readily available. Good luck with this decision regarding the home. You have good options and it sounds as if Marty and you are on top of it

@springerspaniel thank you sweet friend. I appreciate your empathy and kindness and well wishes. Right back at ya.

@Slickk another storm is coming tomorrow. Stay warm and safe and hopefully school will be canceled if it is bad. I remember in the "old days" school was hardly ever canceled...I remember going in blizzards. LOL truth. Stay safe and be well

@bling_dream19 thinking of you and hoping life is treating you sweetly

@mrs-b hope all is going smoothly with you and your loved ones and may Wendy's healing be going well

Yesterday Greg had his pre surgical consult at HSS and we do not have the results yet so we won't know about his surgery til the labs come back. But he passed his physical tests. Fingers crossed because he really needs this knee surgery.

So I am typing this post (as I do every morning) with Tommy on top of me and I am at an awkward angle trying not to disturb him lol. It is a privilege having him on me and I cherish every moment. He is getting older and slowing down and it is quite apparent. So every moment I hold dear. One day I hope (but do not really believe) we can be reunited with all our loved ones. Furry babies and humans. It is a nice dream isn't it? Have a wonderful terrific Thursday all. Be well and be safe. XOXO

@marcy your sunrise photo reminds me of our precious gems..marvelous colors moody and beautiful at the same time

And lastly, not a sunrise like our dear Marcy shared but a sunset. Another day closing with the hope and promise of another tomorrow.

All beautiful pictures, but I have to say, that Cartier opal is divine!

All beautiful pictures, but I have to say, that Cartier opal is divine!

Thank you!

This ring means a lot to me because my parents gave it to me. It was/is a ring my parents adored. They appreciate great beauty and they knew how much I appreciate beautiful gems too. So they gave me what is arguably their most valuable piece. While I do not wear it (anymore) I cherish it and enjoy looking at it often. In my case bling does not have to be worn to be enjoyed. The meaning behind this ring is what makes it so special to me. And that is my parents love for each other.

It is not an easy ring to photograph at all. The colors IRL are that much more vivid and alive for lack of a better word.
Thank you for enjoying my photo

I forgot to share this photo of our snow situation...which is sure to increase after the next storm coming tomorrow into the weekend. It can be quite beautiful. This is just a quarter mile walk on the beach from our backyard. You can even see our house in the distance if you know what to look for...at high tide

Sweetie, did you sell your brooklyn home? I am nosey. Love you! and give Greg a hug from me, we gotta somehow meetup again, maybe Paula and I will fly to Jersey! :) who knows. knees, the bane of aging sweetie.

Hello lovelies

It’s beautiful sunshine and warm! It’s currently 73 degs!

@missy, I’m so glad to hear that your Dad was on his feet, even if he didn’t get to walk, he got up! That’s a win, and hopefully he’s in a better frame of mind. Never give up hope, but always be prepared, which I know you are. One day at a time. I also like to think that when my times up, my dogs will be waiting for me and will run to meet me, tails wagging. I feel cold just looking at your snow, and I hope the forecast storm doesn’t bring anymore, or cause any disruption. You know I have never been an Opal fan, but that’s because I’ve never seen one as beautiful as yours, and yes, jewellery doesn’t always have to be worn to be appreciated.

Great idea to start a spreadsheet of pros and cons @marcy, it helps to keep things straight. Before we had our design meeting, we sat down and did the same so that we had a clear idea of what we wanted, and didn’t waste time with the consultant trying to strong arm us in to things we didn’t want or need. Great photo of the sunrise, it’s like that here with purple thrown in.

Hi @Tekate, we survived the worst of it, the pool equipment is fine, the automatic anti freeze setting took care of that, and Colin put the covers on the hose bibs and covered some of the pool equipment pipes. Looks like tomorrow night will get below freezing, and be cold at the weekend, but next week appears to be back to normal. I’m OK, I can’t say I feel 100%, but I’m certainly a lot better.

Fingers crossed we’ll be back to normality after the weekend, with temps hovering around 60 degs @canuk-gal. One week of bad weather I can deal with, and it’s been lovely and sunny on some of these cold days which doesn’t make it feel so bad.

We’ve been and done our food shopping, so we’re all stocked up come what may.

Keep safe and warm

:wavey:

Hallo :) Currently on hold with Qantas, possibly the slowest phone service on the face of the planet. So thought I'd just touch base.

@missy - I am so sorry about your dad. You are 100% right tho - you cant do more than you can do, and you can't force people to do what they don't want to do. So please accept your limitations and don't beat yourself up that you can't fix everything for everyone all the time. (Big hugs, AG!) And re your parents' cats...oh man, how stressful! I completely understand what you mean about the inevitable, but I still hope that the path from here to there is smooth. Sending you much love, my friend. ox

@Austina - I'm glad your cold is almost gone and that you feel well. I hope tomorrow's temps are what they're predicting; 70 sounds divine!

@canuk-gal - Wendy is doing better and flies home tomorrow. I've been having horrible nightmares about something going really wrong, so I'm super on edge. I normally have the happiest dreams, so this has been unsettling. Did you work your shift this week, or is that next week? Hoping the snow stops soon!

@marcy - with all the stuff we're all going through right now, that sunrise photo was sublime. Thank you so much for sharing it! Re houses - I always wanted to build a house, but the older I get, the less interested I become. The stress just seems...horrendous. If you go this route, I REALLY hope things go smoothly for you! Hugs to you!

@springerspaniel - how are you and how is the weather where you are? Do you ever get snowed in? Things in MA have been comparatively mild for the last 2 winters - I'm not sure whether to be happy or to be dreading the upcoming inevitable freeze! I hope work is going well for you and that you continue to enjoy your vocational change!

@bling_dream19 - always thinking of you and hoping all is well. Big love to you, my friend! <3

@Slickk - hoping all is well, and that you're enjoying the extra minutes of sunlight as the days begin to get longer again. I always feel SO much better after we pass December 21st! Hugs to you!

Wendy leaves tomorrow, so I'm rather sad, but I've enjoyed my time with her, despite all the health issues we've had. Her arm/rib are still sore, but she's considerably improved from where she started. I go back to Boston on Tuesday and am looking forward to seeing Tim, Eleanor and my puppies again. Here's a photo Eleanor took and sent me yesterday - 2 of my favorite men!

Warm thoughts to you all!
