Hello lovelies

Woohoo @missy, that’s fabulous news for your niece, she’s a clever girl and all her hard work is paying off. So glad Greg is home and I hope he’s had a comfortable 1st day of his recovery. Great that your neighbour was able to pick up Greg’s prescriptions for you, what a help that must’ve been. Honestly, that Oliver is a little tinker, and sounds exasperating at times, but I doubt you’d swap him for all the tea in China!

Wow @marcy, that looks like a great floor plan, similar to ours in fact. Oh yes, checking you’ll get permission for the observatory is the top priority before proceeding. I’m with @mrs-b, those blue spots would drive me bonkers, lucky you noticed it before you got any further. Fingers crossed that the house works out for you.

Thanks @canuk-gal, I appreciate your concern, I’m no stranger to pain, so I’m just putting up with it until I can get it seen too. Glad your temps are on the rise, it’s a balmy 65 degs today and lots of sunshine. We’ve been feeding the grid with our extra electricity.

I hope Tim is feeling better @mrs-b and that you’re doing OK.

We went to the new big HEB today, oh the whirlwind of excitement our lives are  We also went out for a walk this afternoon it was lovely out. One of our neighbours gave me some green tomatoes, so I’ve got some green tomato chutney on the go.

Can‘t belIeve it’s Friday again tomorrow.

:wavey:

Peeking in from lurkdom to say congratulations on Vassar! I’m a grad and will put a word in for my own Cushing dorm, especially because you have a higher chance of a single room even first year due to the old servants quarters. It’s a lovely campus!

GM girls and happy FriYAY! Another very rainy day here today with temps dropping. Yesterday was wet all day but mild temps. I actually went for a 5 mile walk because I needed to get some fresh air. I did get soaking wet but it was worth it. Today however with the colder temps I think I will probably stay inside all day. Our weather forecast for the next week includes snow again oh no. Oh well.We have nowhere to be so I guess it is OK...though I do have an appointment I forgot to cancel for next Wednesday. So I have to remember to do that today.

Oh to be young! And be able to jump!

Hahaha I know right? To be young. With your whole life ahead of you. So much potential. Very exciting. Though truth be told I am glad where I am and would not want to trade places. I am tired and with the way the world is I am glad to be the age I am. But she is full of energy, hope and excitement. Just the way she should be at that age. We are so so happy and thrilled for her. Thank you for sharing in our excitement.

Woohoo @missy, that’s fabulous news for your niece, she’s a clever girl and all her hard work is paying off. So glad Greg is home and I hope he’s had a comfortable 1st day of his recovery. Honestly, that Oliver is a little tinker, and sounds exasperating at times, but I doubt you’d swap him for all the tea in China!

Hahaha do not be so sure. Day 2 and I am exhausted lol. Thank you for sharing in our joy at her acceptance. She is such a bright and talented young woman but it was not a slam dunk given the current circumstances and quotas etc. She does not fit into the desirable category for acceptance if you kwim. So I am very pleased she got accepted to her first choice. She did not apply early admission even though it was her first choice. I am glad it worked out this way for her

I hope your shoulder starts feeling much better very soon Austina. I hate pain and I hate seeing anyone in pain. Greg is in a lot of pain and I feel helpless. The PA called Greg yesterday and was supposed to send over another RX for pain meds but nothing from the pharmacy. He did warn us the pharmacist might not want to increase the dose and he would speak with him if necessary. So I am thinking that is what is happening. Like we need this on top of everything else. What a world to let people suffer in pain when there are meds to help. Ludicrous IMO

Peeking in from lurkdom to say congratulations on Vassar! I’m a grad and will put a word in for my own Cushing dorm, especially because you have a higher chance of a single room even first year due to the old servants quarters. It’s a lovely campus!

Thank you! I relayed the message to her. She wants a roommate (I know right- I had a roommate first year because Barnard has (or had I do not know now what they require) that requirement all freshman must have roommates. So I did. But would have been happy with a single. She wants a roommate but she said she will definitely look into the Cushing dorm and to thank you.

@bling_dream19 good morning, thank you and happy FriYAY

@Slickk thank you for sharing in my excitement. My sister says B applied to S too. Isn't it funny how they probably applied to the same schools? Though maybe that is to be expected. Have a wonderful day and a very lovely weekend.

@marcy thank you. I hope all is going well and that there is no snow in your forecast.

@mrs-b thank you and I hope everyone by you is feeling better and Wendy is continuing to heal safe at home

Hello everyone else. Another rainy day here. Then snow to come. Hello and goodbye to January with February soon on its way. This leap year we have an extra day in February. Have a great friYAY and a wonderful weekend. XOXO

It was intense fog all day long yesterday. I could barely see a few feet ahead

Here's a photo my friend sent me to illustrate the intense fog

Have a great FriYAY girls!!

Happy FriYay

I’m sorry Greg is in pain, understandable, but I hope you managed to get the extra medication he needs. I’m not surprised you‘re already exhausted, the lead up to surgery is very stressful for all, and it takes it toll. Thanks for your concern, I’ll be fine, just want to get Colin’s ear sorted out first. I hope the weather doesn’t get worse, ours looks to be improving next week.

Hope you get all the plans for the house finalised this weekend @marcy, and it all goes smoothly from now on.

If any of you have never seen it, you can now watch The Repair Shop on FreeVee, it’s a lovely feel good programme where people bring in treasured possessions and (as the name suggests) the team fix them. I can highly recommend it, we loved watching it in the UK, so are thrilled to have found it here.

We woke up to fog, but it soon cleared up and L and I went out for a walk this afternoon and caught up, lots to talk about as we haven’t seen each other since we got back.

No plans for the w/e as far as I know, apart from FT our friends on Sunday morning.

I hope all the lovely NIRDIs are warm and well, take care

:wavey:

Good morning girls and happy Caturday Saturday!

The surgeon's office came through and got Greg 40 more oxy pills. That is a relief. I picked them up yesterday at noon and he is staying ahead of the pain alternating oxy with extra strength Tylenol.

@Austina your weekend plans sound very similar to our weekend plans lol. Maybe a zoom call but mainly staying in and just letting Greg heal and recuperate and stretching exercises. He is supposed to not walk much due to it aggravating inflammation. So the surgeon just wants him to stretch and do some PT exercises on his own. I hope Colin's ear issues are fully resolved and that your shoulder pain dissipates. I totally understand wanting to make sure he is A OK before taking on your health issue. I have never heard of that show but it sounds like it might be up our alley so will see if we can get it. Thanks for the recommendation. The fog is still pretty thick around here but I believe the cold weather is back (or will be soon) and probably clearing the fog just in time for another snowstorm IIRC.. I haven't been watching any meteorology reports lately so am not sure. It was misty all day here yesterday again.

My friend who is a nurse asked me how taking care of the patient is going and I told her that he is a breeze compared to the kitties. I cannot tell you how difficult they are being right now. Gracie doesn't want to go into the playpen for meals which adds another huge complication onto things and Tommy is being difficult with his meds. I feel as if all I do all day is feed the cats (4-5 times a day they get fed...more than us lol); give meds to Tommy; clean the litter boxes; and separate them due to fighting (many many times a day). It is pretty exhausting and taking care of Greg couldn't be easier compared to the cats. Just ridiculous how challenging these cats are. I have had cats my entire adult life and this crew is by far the most difficult to care for. Of course I love them but there are times I want to take Oliver and throw him out LOL. If anyone wants a (sometimes) sweet kitty please let me know  I will bring him to you personally! :)

@canuk-gal, @bling_dream19, @Slickk, @marcy, @springerspaniel, @Jemi, @CJ2008, @mrs-b and everyone else. Have a wonderful Caturday Saturday !!! May it be purrrrfectly wonderful in every way. XOXO

I enjoyed a short walk yesterday and got to see our beautiful seals

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!

@missy glad the Doc came through with more pain medication--you heal faster when you don't hurt!!!! Sorry your furry tribe is being uncooperative......

It is sunny and +10C! Slushy outside. Went to pick up DH new suit and saw a terrible accident on the freeway--I hate that route and never take it cuz I just get upset when I see that....

@Austina nice that you caught up with your friend.....

Stay safe and well folks!!

cheers--Sharon

GM girls! It's pouring here. What a rainy dreary Sunday but we shall make the best of it

Thank you @canuk-gal he is feeling a bit better. Recovery is challenging with knee replacement. I can barely remember the ordeal 4 years ago but I do remember that. As for the kitties. They are exhausting. Absolutely exhausting. But I love them and they are family so I have to make the best of it. This AM Oliver escaped from the playpen as I was feeding them lol. I managed to get him back before blood was shed but omg. They are keeping me on my toes. That is for sure. Oliver especially. He is an IMP.

Oh no to the accident. So horrible. There was an accident not far from us with a fatality. A pedestrian got hit by a train. I hated reading about that. So tragic.

Enjoy your weather. I would take that in exchange for our rainy rainy weather right now. I would kill for some sun. We have not had sun for days and days and days...

Hello everyone else. Hope y'all enjoying a terrific weekend. I went out walking yesterday afternoon and enjoyed the peace and mild temps we had yesterday. Despite no sun it was quite pleasant. Today I am inside all day because it is torrential downpours all day. Turning to snow tonight. Oh joy. Winter. Cannot wait to see you go. Bye bye. LOL

I snapped one photo near the end of my walk yesterday. It was still a very hazy foggy day but temps were so mild

Screen Shot 2024-01-28 at 8.15.11 AM.png

Enjoy a super Sunday lovely ladies. XOXO

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy wishing your niece(s) nothing but a bright and happy future. I hope Greg’s pain is easing more each day. Keeping all of you in my thoughts. The Repair Shop sounds kind of fun. Sorry the kitties are a challenge to take care of, good thing they are so cute and you love them.

@Austina we think we’ll really like that floor plan. We couldn’t think of anything missing. Glad you are enjoying some nice weather. We’ve had mild weather for a few days. I hope your shoulder is doing much better.

@canuk-gal I hate to hear you saw a bad accident. They can happen in an instant … Not a single response yet from Tiffany’s on my ring either. Phooey.

We had a busy weekend. I chased around a lot looking for yarn for the front of the vest. I thought I found 2 skeins on EBay, but it turned out they only had 1 left so I cancelled the order. I finally decided to try the same brand in a different yarn format with very similar colors. One section is a bit more gray, but I think it’ll work. The front will all be the new yarn and the back will be the original yarn. I got about 7” knit on a gray vest in the meantime.

We started the new series on Apple TV called Masters of the Air. It’s by the same people as Band of Brothers. It’s good but holy cow what those pilots went through In WWII.

We had dinner at the restaurant by where our potential house might be. We went and watched the sunset from there on our way home. So far no word on the observatory. I sure hope we get the go ahead tomorrow. This is kind of nuts. I think if we’d just called it a shed, no one would have batted an eye.

Take care.
Marcy

Here’s the new yarn knit up for a few inches. I think it’ll work fine.

GM girls and happy (how did you get here so fast) Monday!

@marcy niiiice. Love your vest. Hope you get the go ahead soon. Nice you ate out at a restaurant near the site of your potential new home. Stay warm and cozy. Our temps have dropped considerably and it is very windy here (I know you know wind lol). Windy is par for the cours at the shore. Thank you for all your kind comments and well wishes.

@Slickk hope you had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead

@bling_dream19 happy Monday

@canuk-gal our snow did not stick but the temps here are coooold. Brrrrr. Hope you are staying warm and comfy and all is well and that work is going smoothly (I do not remember if you are working this week).

@Austina hope your shoulder is feeling better with each passing day and that Colin is doing well

@mrs-b thinking of you

Hello everyone else. The days are still speeding by despite not doing much but household chores and taking care of Greg and the kitties. Today is very chilly and very windy but I think I am going for a walk after being inside all day yesterday due to the torrential rain. Enjoy a marvelous Monday lovely ladies. Be well. XOXO

Hello lovelies and happy MonYay

Hoping you’ll hear soon about the observatory @marcy , and yes, I’m sure if you’d described it a a storage shed, there’d be no issue at all. Nice to go and scope out the the local amenities, we did that here, but there aren’t any

Oh no, I hate seeing accidents too @canuk-gal, just hope no one was seriously hurt. Where does DH intend wearing his new threads (suit)?

That boy is a holy terror @missy, looks so sweet and innocent, just goes to show how looks can be deceiving  I hope Greg’s pain is easing and he’s feeling more comfortable with each passing day. Brrr to your cold temperatures, it’s lovely and bright here, and today will be 69 degs.

We’ve just got back from Colin’s ENT appt., and everything is fine, no infection, no further treatment needed at the moment, just a couple of drops of peroxide 1-2 times a week to hopefully, keep his ear clear.

Unfortunately my shoulder isn’t getting any better, but at least I can get an appt now to find out what’s going on.

We’ll probably go out for a walk later.

Hope you’re all having a good start to the week :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@missy our temps are about the same as your today. Cloudy. Hope Greg is getting better by the day. And tell your furry mobsters I am onto them and they need to behave!

@Austina glad Colin got the all clear on the ear! Better get your shoulder looked at....as for the new threads (suit, sport jacket AND Tux) I have no idea what the plans or events are for wearing them. I think he just wanted new stuff and was upset his Tux no longer fit (got married in it!) and he was sentimental about that. He looks very nice !

@marcy hope you get the approval for your "shed" with a view.

My DH took me out for a nice lunch to a great spot we often cycle to. Totally delish. Took down the Christmas tree today. Enjoyed the Ferrari movie last night. (PPV) Not much planned this week.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy you have your hands full right now. I hope Greg is in less pain and doing better each day. I am glad you are still taking a lot to get out for a bit.

@Austina I hate to hear your shoulder is still causing you pain, good idea to see a doctor. What a relief Colin’s appointment went well.

@Canuck-gal lunch out with your DH sounds lovely. Was the movie you watched Ford vs Ferrari? That a was a good movie. I see there’s an Audi vs Lancia on PPV, I was going to give it a shot.

No word yet other than about 5 p.m. the builder’s realtor said she doesn’t know anything yet. She hopes to talk to the guy in the morning. We will see.

Same old stuff today. Work, lifting and knitting.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls!! Happy terrific Tuesday. Cats fed. Meds administered. Coffee enjoyed. Greg's still sleeping and I hope he can sleep a while longer.

@canuk-gal thank you and hahaha love the furry "mobsters" LOVE it! I am going to borrow that word if it is OK. Brilliant. Sweet you enjoyed lunch out yesterday. Good for you taking the tree down. Ours, as you might guess, is still up. When Greg is up to it I will ask him to take it down but right now the days are still short so it is nice to have the lights from the tree sparkling lol. I never even heard of the Ferrari movie. I am so out of it. Will check it out. Glad you enjoyed it.

@marcy thank you. Yes I do. Fingers crossed you get good news soon. I lifted yesterday too but no knitting (I do not know how). My mom and grandma used to knit all the time. I remember sweaters and vests they used to make for me. I wish I still had some of the stuff they made for me. I was a little girl so it wouldn't fit now but it would be a nice keepsake.

@Austina yes you have Oliver's number lol. Glad Colin's ear checked out and hopefully it will be resolved soon and now hopefully you can get the help you need and the relief you deserve. Good luck. Hope you had a good walk yesterday.

@Slickk hope you are having a good week

@bling_dream19 happy Tuesday

Hi everyone else. Hope all is well.

Greg is doing his home PT twice a day and his pain levels were getting a bit better but last night it was pretty bad. I am trying not to worry as we are 5 plus days past the surgery and his follow up appointment with the HSS surgeon is not for another 15 days. He tells me not to worry but well I know what can go wrong and of course I worry. Just hoping this is normal for the course of recovery. I don't remember from 4 years ago any details. But I have all the photos of when we were going to PT. This time no photo diary since he is not going to PT. In the beginning I pushed him in a wheelchair. Until he could walk more.

Today I have a telemedicine appointment with my long distance nephrologist. I wanted to get his take on how serious my litholink results are. Though I have now researched it and it's pretty abysmal unfortunately. I do not know how I will make changes to my diet to reach a lower kidney stone risk so I am not looking forward to this appointment. My appointment with the local nephrologist who ordered the test is not until March so I reached out to Dr M (who cannot legally treat me) to get his opinion. Sigh. I wish I had put it off now. Too much on my mind. And it is in the middle of the day due to our time difference. Just hoping what he has to say is not too awful. I am basically a vegan and the food I eat has tons and tons of oxalates despite my soaking most of what can be soaked. Anyway never mind about that. Enjoy a great Tuesday lovely ladies. Stay warm and comfy and well. XOXO

From almost exactly 4 years ago. 4 years ago he had the surgery about a week or two earlier in January than this year. And at this point we were walking at least a bit every day. I photo documented his progress at the time :)

HI:

@marcy Ferrari 2023. The Ford vs Ferrari movie was 2019.

@missy borrow away!! Hope Greg improves everyday.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI's!

@canuk-gal I will have to look for the Ferrari 2023 movie. Thanks. I like watching movies when I knit.

@missy sounds like you got things accomplished early today. I am hoping Greg is doing better every day and your appointment went well with your doctor. Hug those furry mobsters. Such a great name ...

Not much new with me. Still not a single word on the observatory. Phooey. I did get about 6 more inches knit on one of the sides of the vest I'm working on.

Take care.
Marcy

Goodbye January!!! Hello almost February!! And happy wonderful Wednesday!!

And as it's been all week long it's been quite the morning already. Woke up late. Fed the cats but a bowl was missing and at that point it was too late as I had the cats in the playpen and food in hand. Madness ensued lol. Then gave Tommy his meds. Then Greg woke so got him his coffee and phone (mind you I had no coffee in me yet at this point). Got my coffee finally and turned on my computer and BAM. No internet. No phone. No TV. Outage in the area. Oh boy. What a morning at this point it had been. Okey dokey.

Then I took my phone and went onto LTE. My nephrologist yesterday said he was sending me a script for a renal ultrasound (he is concerned I have stones great just great lol) and blood work. But nothing came through yesterday. Or so I thought Anyway found it in my spam folder. Don't understand why because I email with him and his wife ALL the time. Thanks yahoo for your genius ways. Couldn't print it of course no internet and couldn't call for an ultrasound appointment no phone. Yay lol

OK that's been my morning so far.

@canuk-gal the furry mobsters are driving me batty lolol Do you want to take dear Oliver for a while and let him experience the beauty that is Canada? it would be hard to part with him but I am willing  (be careful as I might not take him back hahahaha) :shhh:

Thanks so much for your continuing well wishes!

@marcy I hope you hear soon and that it is good news! Good going on the vest progress. And thanks for your well wishes and kind comments and perhaps after Auntie Sharon lets Oliver visit you might want him to visit you next...he really loves his long distance aunts. He'e been asking to visit. He loves snow...just saying ;)

@bling_dream19 @Slickk @mrs-b (sorry I missed you!!! It was a very busy day yesterday let's reschedule please)
@springerspaniel @Austina @Scandinavian and everyone else, happy Wednesday!

So my telemedicine went as I thought it would. High risk for kidney stones. Nephrologist ordered a renal us and some blood work but I have not yet scheduled an appointment. I really do not want to hear I have stones. But I guess I will schedule sometime in the next month or two because as the physician said there are meds he can prescribe so we need to know. I have high oxalic acid (no surprise eating all those vegan meals) and high uric acid. NO clue why on that. And many more things that are abnormal. Yay I am never textbook anything am I lol. But one day at a time and so it continues. The kicker is this nephrologist is not licensed to see or treat me in my states of residence yet out of the kindness of his heart he is sticking with me for as long as he can. I do not want him to get into trouble and I know this cannot continue indefinitely. But he is great and I trust him over my other docs.

I took a nice long walk on the beach after my call since Greg had a work call so I had the time to enjoy our peaceful beach all to myself. I ended up doing 15 miles yesterday when taking into account my treadmill workout from the morning and my beach walk in the late afternoon.

OK that is my very long update and all typed on my phone so excuse any errors please. I need a new phone desperately too but not sure when I can make that happen.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. Be well. Enjoy. XOXO

Hello lovelies

Oy @missy, you’re certainly a medical mystery! Sorry to hear about the stones issues, and hopefully you can get your US scheduled and find out where to go from there. Don’t forget that Greg is 4 years older, so I would suspect even in that (relatively) short space of time, the healing process will take longer. I hope he’s not in too much pain and doing well with his PT.

Ugh @marcy, why are they keeping you waiting so long for the decision, your hands are tied until you know for sure? Fingers crossed you get the news soon.

Nice you got to go out for a lovely lunch @canuk-gal, now of course, you’re going to have to go out somewhere fancy so DH can give his threads an outing

Weather here is lovely, just over 70 and wall to wall sunshine. We went out for a walk yesterday, and went shopping today. I wanted to get a little outfit for T’s grandson when we see them soon. Colin got a couple of really nice polo shirts.

I’ve got my appt about my shoulder tomorrow afternoon, so we’ll see what the Dr says.

Stay safe and well lovely NIRDIs. :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@missy what gorgeous pictures! Glad you got out for a walk. Sorry to hear about new medical mysteries. You really do need Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson! LOL I really do think Oliver would not like our cold temps--I certainly don't!

@marcy yes check the movie out. I enjoyed it. Hope you hear good news from the builder, soon.

@Austina glad you had wall to wall sunshine today...it always helps. DH wore his suit out to a business meeting yesterday..and yes his BD is in Feb, so he'll get another nice reason to wear something (but the Tux, still scratching my head over use for that one....LOL)

We went lamp shopping today...I did find something I liked...why is this so much work? Now I want new blinds. The list goes on and on......

Keep well wonderful NIRDIs......

cheer--Sharon

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy those cats know they can mess with you. I hope your internet service and cell service is back on. We actually still have a land line and it'll work without power. We should probably keep that if we move out of town. I'll be weary of any packages that show up from you, especially if I hear meowing from inside. The ocean shot from your walk is lovely. What a view you have! How is Greg's pain today? I sure hate to hear your tests have abnormal results. That's why I don't take tests, ha ha. Seriously, I hope the doctor can sort it all out for yor. Yes, I need to get back and have some blood work done. I'm waiting for later in the spring though.

@Austina good luck with your shoulder appointment tomorrow. It's so fun to shop for little kids. We had lovely weather too. I took a quick detour when I went to get the mail since it was so nice.

@canuk-gal I am glad you found a lamp you like. I totally get that now you want new blinds. Remember how our new mattress quickly spiraled out of control a few years ago? Every time a mattress commercial comes on for a "great price" I say "Don't do it"...

So, we got a semi-positive response today asking if we'd put windows on the street facing side of the observatory so it doesn't look like a box. We naturally said yes. I guess the builder is confident enough it's happen, they are going to start "moving ground" on the lot. I am still not giving them my deposit until we get in writing the observatory will be allowed.

I have over 1/2 of one side of the front of the vest done. I think the yarn matches well enough that I'll still give it to my friend for her birthday. Or, I might like it well enough that I keep it for myself.

Take care.
Marcy

Happy terrific Thursday girls!

@canuk-gal thank you! Ooh I love lamps. Did you make any purchases? I also love wood blinds. We had them custom made for Brooklyn. At the beach house we do not have blinds. Just curtains or no window covering on some of our windows.

@Austina good point as 4 years is still 4 years. And thanks for your well wishes. I actually did call yesterday (when our internet etc was back) and scheduled the renal US for next week. Not excited about it as I rarely get "good" health news. So am a bit apprehensive. Your weather sounds gorgeous. Purrrrrfect. Enjoy and good luck on the shoulder appointment today

@marcy yay for hearing back and for a positive response. Thank you! His pain is more manageable now and we even went on a road trip yesterday..more on that below. I am sure the vest is looking beautiful and your friend will love it. LOL I am with you on not liking tests. School tests or blood tests or any tests. Boo to tests. And LOL on listening for meowing if you receive a package from me. Girl, how am I going to send Oliver to you if you are going to be difficult  And @canuk-gal speaking of Oliver you are probably right. He is one spoiled kitty and loves the warmth. He has informed us we are not allowed to move to any cool weather climate lol

@marcy We have a phone that looks like a landline at both homes but according to Greg they are internet phones. We have no options for real landline phones here or in our NYC neighborhood. We never got rid of the landline phones but the companies changed it so I am not tech savvy but that is all I know. So when our internet goes down so do the "landline not landline" phones. I am with you. I prefer a landline phone. I rarely chat on my mobile...speaking of phones and

Speaking of purchases...I just bought a new phone which according to my DH has an even better camera so yay. If it is true. Ordered it yesterday and due to arrive hopefully this weekend. I wasn't planning on going to the Verizon store yesterday but Greg surprised me saying he needed to get out of the house (he's been inside since last Wednesday). So we went (I drove of course...no driving for him for a long while still) and he was OK though I worry it was too soon for him to be in the car for 25 minutes each way and at the store for an hour. His knee is still very stiff and swollen which I hope is to be expected. Anyway I am excited and I also got a new iPad. LOL I really am good for our economy what can I say.

What happened was this. I was getting ready to go for a nice long walk and Greg said to me he wants to go for a ride. So plans changed and due to the internet being down I decided let's go to the Verizon store and get a new iPad that does not solely depend on wireless. They all come like that now who knew. And I needed a new phone too. So I chose the 15 Pro max (supposedly better camera than the current phone I have) and they are giving me over 800$ for a trade in on my current phone...sweet! And then I decided on the new iPad air. Not trading anything in for that as they were only going to give me 120$ towards that purchase so not worth it. I can hold on to my current phone for 30 days after I receive the new phone. Supposed to arrive this weekend so that would be lovely if it did arrive on time. Either way my devices still work so I am not in a huge hurry but thought it would be nice to have an iPad that could connect to the 5G network instead of relying on wireless.. Though our network can be spotty here as we are surrounded by water. So not a purrrfect solution but better than no option but wireless.

I chose navy titanium for my phone and blue for my iPad. Hahaha sensing a theme. The verizon salesperson was like the phone matches my outfit lol. Sure does :) The salesperson was also very surprised at my 100,000 photos. He said he never saw so many photos before on someone's phone lolol.

OK that is my update for the day. I already accomplished a lot. Fed the kitties. Gave Tommy his meds. Cleaned the litter boxes and took out the garbage ready for Thursday morning pick up. I got this :)

My DH is still sleeping and I hope he stays asleep for while at least. Healing requires a lot of energy for sure and a lot of rest for recovery. Have a terrific Thursday lovely ladies. XOXO

Hello lovelies

Very wise not to part with any money until you have the approval in writing @marcy. You know what they say, a verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it‘s written on  I hear you on knitting something and then wanting to keep it for yourself. Years ago, I knitted a really complicated pattern which came out really well, but I’d promised it to someone, so I couldn’t keep it, and didn’t have the patience to replicate it.

Yep you start with a lamp, and before you know it, you want to redecorate the whole house @canuk-gal  Glad DH‘s new threads got an outing yesterday.

That’s good that Greg felt well enough for an outing yesterday @missy, and you got to upgrade your phone and IPad. It seems like not that long ago you upgraded to your last phone, but I expect it was quite a while ago, these things always seem like yesterday! I think we’re probably going to have to bit the bullet and do it soon, Colin’s battery isn’t holding its charge well, and mine is starting to go that way. Like you, we don’t spend our lives on the phone, it’s just for the convenience of being able to get help if we need it.

We did our food shopping this morning, and then I had my Dr’s appt. I don’t know why they bother to give you a time, this is only the 2nd time I’ve been , and yet again, waited 40 minutes to be seen. The bad news is he thinks it’s my rotator cuff, so I went from there straight to the radiology centre for an x-ray. The Dr wants me to get physio, so I need to get that organised. Fortunately, despite living in Hicksville, the radiology centre and the physio are practically on our doorstep!

Hope you’re all safe and well :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Austina it's a rarity you get seen on time , aggravating But glad you were seen and got your imaging done. Hope it is nothing serious. And you are absolutely right, I want to do a reno! Starts with a lamp......I went to the blind place today....LOL

@missy I totally get Greg feeling cooped up. We go "out" for lots of reasons--mental health amongst them! We also had custom wood shutters in one of our houses--and my DH refused to leave them behind...when we moved he took them! (then they sat in the basement of our new house...as we got other types of shutters...LOL) I hope the furry mobsters are behaving.....

@marcy anything exciting on your roster--like an observatory?

I could use a new phone. I want a flip phone--but I just don't want to pay the price! So spendy. I just made a kale salad, then looked in the mirror--I had kale bits in my hair! Very classy! Had a lovely walk in gorgeous sunshine--I should have applied sunscreen! DH had his ear nuked by the Derm--got rid of those nasty aberrant cells; hopefully for good.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

They approved our observatory. It has to have windows in it, facing the road and match the house. Why did it take them almost 2 weeks to tell us that?

@missy nice that Greg was up for an outing. I hope he didn’t get too sore or tired from it. Nice to get a new phone and iPad. I dropped my iPad on the cement floor - face down - while lifting tonight. I was thinking I sure hope I bought Apple care on that. Luckily, it was fine. Ha Ha, yes I’ll be weary of packages from you if it’s making noise. Stupid tests … That’s what Marty said too, we have internet phones. My den has a cable TV plug in there so my pink trimline analog phone works on it. Guess our new house won’t have a land line either.

@Austina funny about your knitting story. I’m in the same boat. I am still toying with keeping this vest and tonight I 100% decided I’m not making this pattern again. And dumb luck, I had about an inch left on the right side of the vest and ran out of yarn. I only bought 2 skeins for the front so that means I’d have to go buy another one. So, but decided to use the leftovers of the yarn from the back. I’m almost done with the one side, then one more side to go. I hope PT helps your rotator cuff. Good luck with that.

@canuk-gal too funny you ended up with kale in your hair. I usually have remnants of food down the front of me. Especially flour. A friend of mine has an Android phone that folds in half. She really likes it. And yes, I was excited to get the news we’re a “go” on the observatory.

I worked and lifted today. Not much else.

Take care.
Marcy

Good almost afternoon girls on this FriYAY Groundhog's Day!

@marcy yay! So happy for you that the yes came through. I drop my phone all the time but thankfully it never cracked. I am a klutz no matter how careful I am. yea darn internet phones. They are working on the cables etc today so our internet and phones keep going in and out. My new phone and ipad cannot come soon enough though I am connected to the LTE on my phone so far so good. I "lifted" today too. In quotes because I am a weakling compared to you LOL truth

@canuk-gal yay for getting to enjoy a walk in some nice sunny weather.. we have not seen the sun here for weeks. I feel we are living in the Northwest lol...today our weather is mild and rainy but yes we need to get out. Mental health for me for sure. Despite being a homebody I like to go out every day to get some nature and air. Today just going to run errands and no walking since I don't feel like walking in this weather. Just waiting for Greg's work conference call to be over. LOL kale in your hair sounds like me. I am not as graceful as I would like to be but at least we are real :) We saw a very cool flip phone at the Verizon store...it was a samsung and I LOVED it. If I wasn't stuck with apple I would have been tempted for sure. My very first phone was a flip phone. I miss those

@Austina I know right? Greg said my phone is at least 4 years old but I really don't remember. They are giving me a lot for a trade in so I am suspicious as to why that is. My phone is actually still under AppleCare as we renewed it a while back and I can get a new battery for free. But Greg is insisting I will love the new phone more so forget about doing that. OK. I hate change though... I am sorry about your diagnosis and hope it will be an easyish fix with physio and that you start feeling better soon. And yes. The appointments can just be estimates for some doctors. Drives me nuts and is why I try to get first thing in the AM appointments before they are too far behind. But then you get drs who come in late. So yeah cannot win with some drs.

Happy FriYAY @bling_dream19

Happy almost weekend @Slickk

Yesterday I had a nice long walk. I am not hiking without greg for two reasons. One I get lost too easily and in the woods there is no way I would find my way out and two if I got hurt it would be a mess. So waiting for my hiking buddy to be back on his feet. He is still in pain and called today for more pain meds. They guard the opioids like Fort Knox. We are paying the price for others addictive (not always their fault though but why make others suffer in pain...not acceptable) and abusive ways and it is not fair to let someone be in pain when there are meds that can help. I am not a fan of pain and it makes me feel pain when he is in pain. Ugh I wish I was not an empath. It's not easy. Today as soon as Greg is off his work call we are going to run some errands with him staying in the car. I need him with me just because I do not feel comfortable driving alone especially because my directional sense sucks. Yes it is ridiculous but it is the way my brain works and I am sure it is genetic. I get lost if you turn me around. OK maybe not that serious but almost lol

Enjoy a wonderful FriYAY lovely ladies. XOXO

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy pesky internet problems. Our new place will have fiber internet so way faster than the high speed we "supposedly" have now. We both need bubble wrap, that's for sure. Marty always buys the plans on my stuff knowing how likely I am to drop them. But guess who HAS broke the screen of an iPad? Not me! You and me both on getting lost. Some of the lots we looked at, I told Marty I'd have to mark home on my phone and tell Apple maps to take me home. I hope errands went well. And yes, it nuts they frugal they are on pain meds now.

I venutured out 1st thing this morning to pay our builder's deposit and decided to go see if they started on our lot already. Plus, it was a test to see if I can find the place. They were flattening the spot already. Sweet. M&M's Little House on the Prairie. Ha Ha.

@marcy you get me lol

In other "you cannot make this stuff up" news: my iphone and iPad were delivered!

To the WRONG address! LOLOL

Yes I am laughing because it's just the way life is. They delivered it to our NYC home. But the salesperson took my driver's license in the store and saw the NJ address. Idiot.

So as I was driving to TJs this afternoon with Greg next to me, he got on the phone with Verizon, and more than an hour later we *hope* they are delivering a new order to our beach house tomorrow. I say hope, because, well, you understand. I will be shocked if I get my stuff tomorrow. Apparently they cannnot place a new order without canceling the old order and could not order them both together. It was quite the ordeal. And we shall see if it actually happens. Unfortunately they are now out of stock on the blue iPad so I went with pink. NO clue if the pink is a good pink or a peptol bismol pink so if it is I will be sending it back. Yes it is covered by a cover but still. I know it's there.

What's that quote about life being absurd. It sure is. And also the Camus quote...

"Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken."

Hello lovelies

Happy FriYay!

:dance:Great news @marcy, so happy it’s all systems go! How exciting that they’ve already started scraping the plot. I hope you’l be taking lots of photos of the progress, so we can join in the fun of watching the build (of course, if you’re happy to share).

If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry at such incompetence @missy! Let’s hope they get the new ones to you a.s.a.p. I think my phone and IIpad are rose gold, can’t remember now as they both have complete covers on. How’s your dear Dad doing? I do hope he’s able to cope with his physio and is making some progress.

Talking of PT, I phoned this morning, and the soonest appt they can give me is 3 weeks, so I’ve taken that with the caveat that I’m available for a cancellation if one comes up.

Dr is pretty sure it’s my rotator cuff @canuk-gal, no idea how that happened but it’s a (literal) pain.

We were due to go to a neighbour‘s this evening, but it’s been cancelled due to the weather, and rearranged for next weekend now.

Another quiet w/e on the cards for us, caching up with some shows, eating and relaxing.

Have a good one lovely NIRDIs :wavey:

Good morning lovely ladies and happy Caturday Saturday!

@Austina, thank you for asking. He tells me he is doing OK but my mom says he doesn't want to upset us. He can walk a bit but only with a walker and others helping so not near to being OK yet. Aging is certainly not for the faint of heart. It is hard. And while it beats the alternative it is just a long hard slog and I often ask myself why is life like this? Why do we go downhill as we get older and eventually to the point of no return? From when I was a little girl I used to scare myself with thoughts of death. I was morbid even then. But yeah I guess you could say I have been obsessed with death for a long time and not in a good way. I am fortunate in that I have (so far) both parents alive but I know the deep grief that is death having lost furry babies. And to me they were my children. I know that sounds mad to anyone who has human kids but I feel things strongly and I stand by my comment. Losing any loved ones is difficult and I know grief is the price we pay for deep love. But I do not like that price. :(

Sorry for my cheery post. LOL. It's early here so forgive me because my thoughts run deep and far and with Tommy and Bobby being elderly I think about it more than I should maybe. Greg always tells me to stop fighting against what is and just accept it. I try and I have no choice anyway but to accept it but I still feel the losses deeply. Losses going back many many decades.

I am sorry the soonest PT appointment is three weeks away but hopefully they will get a cancellation and put you in sooner. Enjoy a peaceful easy fun weekend.

Hello everyone else, hope all is well. Not sure of my plans today but Greg is still sleeping and I have taken care of the morning routine for now so just relaxing with coffee at the moment posting on PS...OK I hear Greg stirring. Have a great day girls. XOXO

Sorry for the blur...stillshot from a video I took
