Now I really did it :((

Good morning lovely ladies and happy FriYAY!!!!!!

@canuk-gal yay for awesome weather...we have had some gorgeous days too. Just unreal. 70s even 80s and sunny but very very windy. I have been wearing wrap around glasses from Greg when we are cycling. Don't need anything foreign in eyes right now lol. Thank you and I am feeling much better. Cornea is healed though I am now at higher risk for RCE (recurrent corneal erosion) and to that end I am instilling Muro-128 ointment every night before bed hoping it will keep things quiet. For at least 6 weeks if I can manage it. Not pleasant putting in ointment blurring the vision but if I can do it that can help prevent RCEs. My mom has them so once again a genetic component is there. Very sorry to read you still have some pain but glad you got cycling in and you enjoyed it. So nice your weather is cooperating. And yes to November weather being mild so far. That unfortunately is about to change here but it was a good run while it lasted. Today is still nice though 10 degrees cooler (68) and tomorrow 10 degrees cooler from day to a high at 55. Those are more seasonable temps. For us. OMG to the Italian Mastiff. They are so handsome. LOL they need their own zip code...true  Always a treat to see furry babies when we are cycling. :kiss2:

@marcy ouch I am sorry you went through that. UGH. It's easier to laugh after the fact and glad it is behind you. Like you I am not a fan of this time change and I still have not adjusted either. So I am going to bed an hour earlier and waking up an hour earlier. LOL Take that time change. You might have realized by now I'm completely clueless about household stuff and clearly had no clue about a tankless water heater  YAY for playing retired lady...you deserve it

@Austina thank you for asking. My niece is doing well. She has made some wonderful friends and she is enjoying college. She is finding classes challenging but IIRC so did I when I first started college. It's a change from high school. I have no doubt she will do well. And no nonsense happening on her campus. AFAIK. All is peaceful and calm TG. I read that record numbers of Gen X voted for DT. I'm Gen X :) I wonder how my nieces generation voted. I will have to look into that. Very curious. Thank you for the well wishes for my mom. She sure has had more than her fair share of stuff. She is recovered thankfully. And I really hope she doesn't get it again. This is time two or three. Ugh. Yay for figuring out the phone issues. It can be frustrating. And yay for a new keyboard and case for your iPad. Sweet. I am not familiar with the color Ultramarine but it sounds very pretty

@missy Yes..You win! How did you do that?! I’m happy it’s feeling better!
I really miss you girls..This darn thing I have has me managing visit, etc like a corporation! I finally have things in order. I’ve been eyeing diamonds, etc so I know I’m in a better mindset.
Talk to you all later..❤️

Hahaha yes I win Queen Klutz but as we said we are soul sisters in Klutzdom Kingdom  And girl we both need to be more careful for sure. You are the best @MamaBee big hugs and much love to you and I hope we see you around here more often. I feel selfish for keeping you all to myself :)

@Sunrises Sunsets thank you again for your kind and well wishes. And they worked. The bandage lens is now off and i feel OK. Not 100% but close. Now I have to be wary of RCEs (recurrent corneal erosions) but I am prepared and have some bandage contact lenses in the house should I need to apply it. Bu hopefully that won't be necessary. I really do not ever want to experience that level of pain again. When I say it was a 10 on a scale of 1-10 I am not exaggerating. And I have a high pain tolerance. Oy to the vey. I hope things remain calm and quiet by you too...wishing that for everyone. There was too much excitement this week starting with Monday AM at 5...praying for peaceful times and experiences ahead for us all. And it's so nice to see you here. I hope you stick around :)

Hello everyone else. Yesterday was a busy day. AM Greg met with the coop attorney to sign papers for the building's refinance and then he had a conference call for work. We went cycling after that and late afternoon I had my OD appointment where my cornea was proclaimed healed and the bandage CL was removed. My instructions are to instill Muro-128 ung before bed every night now to prevent RCE. I failed at that last night as it got all over my lashes and wouldn't go into the eye. I was being super careful so as not to cause another abrasion. Oy to the vey and LOL. I hope tonight goes more smoothly. We had a good cycling day yesterday albeit shorter than usual and today it is cooler but still cycling friendly and that is our plan. OH and we hit 9,000 miles yesterday!!!! WOOOHOOOOOO!!!!

Screen Shot 2024-11-08 at 5.40.27 AM.png

I took the photo as we were cycling. Above number is mph we were cycling at that moment and the bottom number is the total miles since we started cycling this year (april 2024 I believe but it was a slow start due to Greg's TKR at the end of January this year). Very pleased with our accomplishment as this year was crazy busy with medical appointments. Anything we reach now before 2025 is gravy. I know the weather will be changing very soon and I can't take temps in the low 50s when cycling...just too cold for me with the wind we whip up as we are cycling by the sea.

And a photo yesterday afternoon waiting for the OD to come into the exam room

Enjoy a fantastic FriYAY lovely ladies. XOXO

@Slickk I posted to you and it disappeared...technology!!! Hope your work week went super smoothly. And all is well and quiet by you. Wishing you a most wonderful weekend and I cannot believe the holidays are soon upon us...I am actually looking forward to them because then we begin the climb out of the darkness...once the end of December is here the days start getting longer again. Yassssss.
Big hugs sweet friend XOXO

Wishing everyone a sweet sweet FriYAY

Good morning girls! I have no idea what you have all been up to..but I plan to read the last hundreds of posts!
I’ll just be boring to let you know what’s happening here other than NMO!
We still have three houses. It’s so embarrassing. Since I had my attacks starting January 2..everything got put on hold. We have been going back and forth to Maryland to sort out stuff into three piles..things we want in Virginia, Goodwill, and trash. We don’t have trash but Goodwill doesn’t take everything. They will find homes for things so that makes me feel better. We are close to getting our stuff sorted. We load the car..drive back here to Va..and I wash everything and try to absorb them into the house. I must have dozens of sheet sets..because they’re from the three houses. Does anyone need sheets? :lol-2: Don’t even think about how many dish sets I have..ugh Once we do that we will find a realtor who can tell us what we need to do to get it ready for spring. We will get the primary bathroom redone as it needed it but never could find the time to do it. Buyers always look at the kitchen and bathrooms. It’s a historic house so we can get away with a lot. Houses sell slowly there..We’ll see..Once that’s on the market..we will do things to the house in Pa to get it ready for sale. I’ve been driving the ship to get everything organized..including managing my NMO. I felt like my ship was sinking a few times but I was able to resurface! Haha..I found my husband looked to me to tell him what to do..so that’s why I’m driving the ship..I will be happy when we have just this house. Then I will be a happy girl..

I hope everyone has been doing well… @missy What can I say…You have definitely earned the Queen Klutz title…at least for this week..I’m so happy you’re feeling better. ❤️

What an agenda! You are much stronger than I was thinking and that is good news.

We had to clean out a condo in a week's time when it sold quickly. I donated so many beautiful, expensive items to Habitat for Humanity since the kids didn't want them and I didn't have time to sell anything. It didn't traumatize me too much, I knew it was all going for a good purpose and I was so ready to downsize. But I was exhausted.

I still continue to donate and giveaway items since we have now sold our second home. I love the "lightness of being" without all the stuff and owning only one home. You're gonna love it when you arrive at that point. I'm wishing you good progress and health and when you get overwhelmed, laugh with George Carlin's bit on "A Place for My Stuff".

I donated so many expensive…nice things already..What’s left are things I’m attached to..so that’s harder.

I will check out George Carlin’s bit! Haha

I bought a vintage band to replace the skinny baguette one I lost last year. I have a tiffany one but it’s too thick for my engagement ring. I’ve been looking to replace it but stopped since January 2. This one fell in my lap. I should get it on Tuesday.
:appl:

That's the hardest, the beautiful things that have memories attached to them... But I know those memories would for the most part be lost on our kids, they all have their own tastes and finished homes. So I have sent as many as I can part with at this point to resale shops where someone can start their own memories.

Somethings are too dear, such as the food grinder that would clamp to the kitchen table when we were growing up. I watched my Mom, many times over my 20 years at home, grind the leftover meat and potatoes from an earlier dinner into the hash she would serve for that night. (It was called supper when I was growing up.) I don't care for meat but her efforts to constantly provide sustenance to our family was on display daily.

My brothers and sisters wondered why I chose that object but it's the perfect memory for me of that dear woman. The longer she is gone, the more they understand my choice and enjoy it viewing it on the ledge of our kitchen cabinets in our home.

I understand.. My mom passed away the end of April. It was really hard to clean out her room.
I’m keeping funny things like her rolling pin and potato masher. You get it..

Hello lovelies

I don’t envy you @MamaBee, as you know, when we moved here, we had to give away so many things, and that was just from one home, so I can’t imagine how difficult it is to go through 2 homes and having to sort everything. You’ll get there eventually, so don’t overdo things.

I look at all my beautiful Crystal cut glass and wonder what will become of it when we’re gone. It’s just not the sort of thing young people want anymore. All the pieces were bought for occasions, wedding, birthdays anniversaries and Christmasses, so many memories, so I understand how things can have a sentimental value @Sunrises Sunsets. I remember those mincers that clipped to a table!

So glad your eye is better @missy. Have you given anymore thought to keeping the condo long term, you seem pretty settled at the shore? So glad your niece is enjoying life at college, I’m sure it’s been quite an adjustment living independently for the first, but she’s such a sensible girl, I’m sure she’s coping just fine.

I hope the weather is being kind to you @canuk-gal, no more snow.

Be a retired person this weekend @marcy

I’ve bagged up all Colin’s clothes and most of mine for the cruise, (I know it’s still weeks away, I like to be organised ), so that’s one job out of the way.

Quiet weekend on the cards for us, hope all the lovely NIRDIS have a great one :wavey:

@Austina I remember when you were preparing for your move…You and Colin were very organized. I’ve had to be ruthless. I’m definitely not a hoarder by any stretch of the imagination.. but I do understand the angst of giving away things you still love. I actually like watching the show Hoarders..I do feel bad for the people though.

Where are you going on your cruise? I hope you and Colin have a great time!

Hello lovelies

Honestly, this lab just goes from bad to worse @missy, they never seem to get anything right. Looks like you had the perfect day yesterday, great photos.

Soooo, I did a thing today, I decided I wanted some large studs so I asked for help on the MMD thread. I’m not going to buy anymore expensive jewellery, so these will be perfect.

I’ll have them set locally by the guy who did my bracelet.

Off to Trivia later, hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.

@Austina Did you post a photo of your studs? I would love to see them! My daughter-in-law bought a pair. They look beautiful on her. She has tiny earlobes so she couldn’t go big. She purchased .75 for each ear. They look huge on her.

I did take a (very bad) photo @MamaBee, but I’ll try to take a better one. I’m thrilled with them, they’re really sparkly. KimN did a fantastic job finding them for me.

We’re doing (another’) Caribbean cruise, 10 days leaving on the 17th December.

Good morning lovely ladies! Happy Caturday Saturday!

@marcy I knew you would enjoy that video. LOL. As we were cycling by it Greg was like do you want to take a photo of this and I was hell no I want to take a video of it  Hope the snow flakes have stopped and not accumulated. NOOOOOO SNOOOOOW pretty please

@Sunrises Sunsets I agree with your sentiment 100% (in that other thread that Ella is allowing to stand...I wish she would have let the initial thread started by Kenny stand because this one is just as political but whatever she's the one in charge and we abide by her decisions). However I also understand why she does not let most of them stand. They devolve into petty fighting. Sad adults behave like this. Sad PSers behave like this. But my eyes were opened in October. I saw such outrageous behavior by some PSers. Disappointing to the max. And so so tired of all the hate, divisiveness and disgusting behavior. Vilifying someone for no valid reason but for being brainwashed by social media. Pure and simple. Social media can be poison IMO and we were better off without it. IMO.

@MamaBee  this is a title no one wants believe me! I know you get it. It is insane how many times a day I hit into something unintended with a body party. Truly a danger to myself. I need to wrap myself in bubble wrap. I am being super careful though and hoping no more accidents for at least a while. Pretty please. Hope you are looking forward to a good weekend

@Austina So exciting having the cruise coming up. I found them so much fun when I used to go. My very favorite trip was my Alaska cruise and we were on land plenty of the time. But we got to see so much more of Alaska than we could have without cruising. Your quiet weekend ahead sounds purrrrfect

@Slickk I forgot to send you something. I will message you. Have a wonderful weekend

@canuk-gal so not sure cycling will be possible today :( It's over 20 mph winds with gusts to the high 30s. And it is in the 40s F here right now. We will see how the morning develops. The fierce winds started last night around 8PM all of a sudden and I was like WTH. It was very scary sounding to me. And Greg had to go outside to help push a window shut while I locked it from the inside. That's what happens with fierce winds here when the window isn't totally shut. Hope you are faring better weather wise

Hello everyone else. We had a good long riding day despite the chillier temps and winds but today is at least 10 degrees cooler and much windier. Wind gusts in the high 30s today making cycling a bit challenging but we shall see. Have a wonderful Caturday Saturday sweet friends XOXO

And for Caturday Saturday...our newest addition Sassy (Sarsaparilla). She is looking better! And less skittish too. She stayed on the porch as I went out when she was eating

Look at her sweet face :kiss2:

@Austina I know what you mean about wondering what will happen to your crystal when you’re gone. I really get attached to things because of the memories attached to them. I have china that I collected…five place settings at a time when I was very young. I got to seven place settings and stopped a long time ago..I don’t use china anymore. I use my Portmeirion Christmas dishes…I have two different ones now..I can put them in the dishwasher so it’s so much easier.
I also have expensive furniture in Pa that I left behind. We won’t sell that house for a while so there’s no rush making a decision. I’m having a problem donating one piece but I have no place to put it here without taking something else away. I like how it’s set up here now. Silly issues but it does take my mind off more serious stuff..so that’s good I guess.

GM girls and happy Sunday!!!

OMG it was cold yesterday and Greg recommended I try the heated vest he created for me that I had used once before but it exacerbated my Schamberg disease. However, despite that, I took him up on the suggestion and it was heavenly.

While it was cold with a fierce wind the vest kept me comfy. I had it on the lowest setting and it was perfect. And it was still working five hours into the ride. Unbelievable. Very pleased with it. I did not look to see if my capillaries had burst over my body because I did not want to know. I will use it again today and then I will check.

Today is cold, windy and not sunny so despite actual warmer temps than yesterday it will feel colder so we shall see how it goes. Yesterday was sunny all day and that sun is welcome when the temps drop and it is windy

@Slickk @canuk-gal @Austina @marcy @MamaBee @springerspaniel @Sunrises Sunsets @Inked and everyone else...happy Sunday!!!

Leaving you with our ICOTD..despite the change in temps and the cold wind we enjoyed ice cream outside. Heated vest for the win :)

May your Sunday be as sweet as you XOXO

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chilly day here but it isn't preventing all the joggers in shorts. LOL. We walked around the hood and I needed my hood! Brisk! I spent several hours doing my annual recerts--I have one left and decided to stop as my connection failed 4 x. Frustrating. Anyway. It is Remembrance Day long weekend here--and my DH was invited out to a play and dinner; which he really enjoyed. He doesn't go to live theatre often but for this RD play, he did. Glad he didn't faint this time! I had a lovely meal out with our DS.

@missy I can't believe you cycle for so many hours! But glad you were toasty. Is your Christmas tree still up? I'm planning the day for that herer. LOL
@MamaBee good luck with your real estate. Pretty high on the stress meter and you have two houses to sell! Keep well.

cheers--Sharon

Dear girls, I missed Shelley’s birthday. It was November 4th. I just remembered it and wanted to share it here. I’m feeling very sad about her death and the fact that her birthday was last week makes it that much more difficult

Dear Shelley, we all miss you. And love you. If there is a heaven I know you’re there watching over us.

Gone far too soon

:((

RIP

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MamaBee I’m glad you are managing things and eyeing new diamonds. Good luck selling two houses and getting everything done with that. I hated selling and moving one house, I can’t image the fun of two houses.

@Austina we don’t plan on mowing here. The native prairie grass doesn’t get too tall and dies off every winter. That is what we’re going to plant on the spots they plowed up too. I hate it when apps won’t work on a new phone. I was going to check the specs on iPhone 16 Pro’s. Not that I need a new phone, but if it’s a huge upgrade there is Christmas coming soon. I did play retired most of the weekend. I only worked a little bit. Nice to start packing for your cruise. I tried packing early for our trip to Texas and then I ended up forgetting too many things. Think I’ll wait until the day before like I usually do.

@Sunrises Sunsets I am bad at upgrading my phones way before it’s necessary. Ugh to cleaning out your condo in a week. We donated a lot of stuff to Habitat for Humanity from my parent’s house. We had a Meals on Wheels that took donations too, but they closed down their garage sale section.

@canuk-gal glad you were able to have a nice ride and not long enough to kick up that pain. Yay for your DH not fainting and sweet to have supper with your DS.

@missy I am glad your cornea is doing better. I was kind of surprised how quickly my eye healed that one time. It sure isn’t a fun time though. How are your fingers doing? My sleeping pattern hasn’t changed yet either. Glad your niece is enjoying college and there’s no nonsense going on there now. I am glad to hear your mom is feeling better, yes she has plenty on her plate. And woo hoo for hitting 9,000 miles. That is so awesome. Aak to the holidays almost upon us. LOL you wanted to take a video instead of a picture. I shared it with a friend of mine and have watched it a few times. Your heated vest sounds divine. I am wearing a sweatshirt zipped up and have a fleece blanket on my lap now.

We had our first snowstorm Friday and Saturday. It melted by this morning though. Only a few inches. Since it was so icy yesterday morning, we actually ate Saturday breakfast at home. I am kind of getting sick of going out to breakfast every Saturday and Sunday. I was kind of glad to eat at home. I made homemade soup on Saturday and tacos today for dinner. I have some of each left for tomorrow.

Marty got the roll off roof working on the observatory today. He installed all the rails and go electricity to it. He was excited. He’s getting down to the things that are time to finish. The guys doing the roof never showed on Friday so hopefully they cone this week. Since it was cold Friday I kind of get it, but it didn’t start snowing until later in the day. Typical poor customer service though, they never called to reschedule.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Greg is very inventive @missy  I’m sure I’ve actually seen heated jackets for sale somewhere (perhaps when I was in the UK), and they seemed like a good idea. It was summer here yesterday, we went out for a walk and came back boiled. I hope Shelley had a happy heavenly birthday.

Good grief @marcy, I don’t know how you survive weather there! Sounds like the observatory is almost done, good job Marty is so handy. I always make a list of the things already bagged, so I don’t forget to put everything in. Once bitten twice shy, I made the mistake of not doing that many years ago, and didn’t pack underwear!! Fortunately we were in the UK so managed to find a shop to buy some. Glad you were practising being retired over the weekend.

Sounds like you had a good weekend @canuk-gal apart from the failed connection interfering with your submission. Dinner out with DS sounds like fun, has he found a new home yet?

We didn’t do much, Colin watched rugby all weekend, I pottered about. Just got back from the lawyers, Colin had lots of questions that needed answering. Lovely and sunny here, hopefully we’ll be back in the pool this week.

:wavey:

GM girls! Happy terrifically windy Tuesday! It's ferociously windy out there and ofc I am worried for the safety of the feral cats. Gosh this is such a challenging situation for all the outdoor animals. We fed them this AM and the wind is whipping up a storm. No rain but a windstorm nonetheless and it is going to be like this the entire day

Yesterday we saw our retinal specialist in the AM for both Greg and I (all is well) and then we went cycling. It was much warmer so no heated vest was necessary and it was a great ride. Today we have telemedicine appointments in the late morning/early afternoon and no cycling due to the wind. So we will run errands before and after the appointments. Probably.

@Austina he certainly is. I have not seen any for sale because Greg custom created this just for me. I am curious if the ones they sell have various heat settings like the one Greg made for me. I will have to check them out. But this one fits me perfectly and hopefully will serve me well while we are still cycling this season. I will say it's too windy today (35mph winds with higher gusts) and once it goes into the 40s F here I do not have any desire to cycle. Even I have a limit lol. I am glad you are enjoying warm temps now. As I get older I prefer warmer to colder though I am not a fan of either extreme. Give me 60s, 70s and even 80s with low humidity and I am a happy camper. Thanks for the kind wishes for Shelley. I still cannot believe she is gone. Not a day passes by that I do not think of her and her family. Such a tragic loss :(

@marcy just no. I cannot deal with that kind of weather...you are a strong woman. Glad you enjoyed breakfast at home. When Greg and I were younger we went out to eat every Fri, Sat and Sun. After 10 years of that we started eating at home those nights and I preferred it. It was fun while we did it and then it was nicer to spend those evenings at home. Today is the anniversary of our first date November 12th I cannot believe how fast the time has gone.

@Slickk hope you had a good day off yesterday and that all is well

Hello everyone else. Hope everyone is enjoying a good week

Leaving you with some photos from yesterday

Happy terrific Tuesday lovely ladies XOXO

Hello lovelies

I just want to get this off my chest first. I commented on a post yesterday. The way the post read to me sounded like the person was calling people who had a voted a certain way, unflattering names (I’m being polite). My response was that of course that had to be the case if those people voted that way, meaning there couldn’t possibly be any other reason for people to vote they way they did, other than what this person had called them. My response was, I assume, reported and my post removed. The person then called me out, and I responded clarifying what I meant, also removed

Anyway, I’m not surprised you didn’t want to ride in the winds, you’d end up going backwards @missy! I’m hoping the ferals have managed to find some safe places to stay out of the wind an keep warm. Have they been using the heated boxes Greg made?

I had my appt at the Drs today to get a PCP. All my vitals are good, she’s ordered a bone density scan and some blood tests. She wanted me to have a colonoscopy, I said no, I prefer doing the Cologuard. I’ve had a flu jab and Covid vax as we’re going away.

I hope all the lovely NIRDIs are doing well.

:wavey:

GM girls and happy wonderfully windy and freezing Wednesday!

@Austina I am sorry that you experienced an unpleasant poster..I did not see that post but it seems there is no rhyme or reason to what is allowed and what is not allowed here and I feel it to be very biased in favor of the you know who. This madness needs to stop and to that end I am very very pleased with the "you know what shall remain unmentioned" results. And too bad for anyone who doesn't agree. Insanity and brainwashing has ruled the land for well over a year and it is time for it to stop. The indoctrination of our students is horrifying. The master plan of you know who is very clear as they do not make it secret. How so many have fallen for it is truly terrifying. Check out Justine Bateman and what she had to say. I agree 100%!!!!!! BIG HUGS to you my friend. Don;t let the lunatics upset you please. NOT worth it.

@Slickk stay warm and happy hump day!!!

@canuk-gal our temps are in the 30sf now. FREEZING. No cycling :( I fear we may be done for the year but it was a good cycling year to be sure so I cannot complain. Hope you are toasty warm my friend

Hello everyone else! So cold here and so windy still. Have I mentioned I am not a fan of this weather? Ugh and at least four more months of this and it will be getting even colder. That I know. Sigh. OK enough of my moaning and crying. We are going to try getting our flu vaccinations today and then go walking/hiking because it is just too cold and windy for cycling. I hope everyone stays warm and cozy and has a lovely and wonderful Wednesday XOXO

Good morning! @missy I LOVE this weather! This is the one thing we don’t agree on! I also don’t like to go out in it if it’s too cold..but fall is my favorite time of year. It’s amazing you hit 9,000 miles the other day! That’s amazing…
I’m happy your cornea isn’t painful anymore. I’m really hoping it heals completely so you don’t become at risk for RCEs. Did I read correctly that you did it when you were washing your face? When I think I’m being extra careful…I realize it can happen in an instant. I almost took out my eye yesterday with that cable cord. :oops2:
I feel so bad for Shelly..I didn’t know her well..but I could tell what a sweet person she was.

@marcy Thank you for thinking of me. It’s been a rough road but I’m learning to be hopeful..and less nervous about having this disease.
Do you have photos of your new house on here anywhere? I’ve lost so much time that I can never catch up with what has been going on…
That’s so great that Marty is excited about the progress on his conservatory. Did the roofers ever show up?
I have to google prairie grass. I think I know what it looks like but I want to make sure. It sounds pretty..

@Austina Do you and Colin enjoy living in Texas? It sounds like you are enjoying your new home…especially your pool! How often will you go back to England for a visit?
I get Colonoscopies because I’m at high risk..but David will get Cologuard when he’s 40 until he’s 45. I hate the prep..but the procedure is easy..
I hope your Dexa Scan comes out perfect. I just had mine done..I now have mild Osteoporosis in my lower spine. My new endocrinologist wanted me to get a Reclast infusion. I’ll get my first one next week. I’ll get it once a year for five years..Then I will get a holiday. I usually look up all the side effects..but truthfully I’m sick of researching everything..I asked the endo if he would prescribe it for his own mother. He said yes..I asked him if he loved his mother..:lol-2:

@canuk-gal We have the most horrible connections here..so I understand your frustration. I’m going to a new dentist today. I was sent a link to fill out twelve online forms. My connection failed three times…wiping everything out so I had to start over. I gave up. I’ll go there earlier today to fill out the forms by hand…ugh
That’s so nice you got to have dinner out with your son..:kiss2:

We hung up some pictures yesterday. I bought beautiful drapes for this house..but they’ve been sitting in boxes because everything was put to a stop when I got sick. I was waiting to get vaccines to protect me should the handyman have something he could pass on to me. I had my flu vaccine which I read isn’t very effective…but it’s better than nothing. I had Covid in September so I think I would be somewhat protected..

I got my new baguette band yesterday. I was hoping it would look close to my lost art deco band. It didn’t look anything like it…so I’m sending it back. :(2The jeweler was so gracious in accepting the return.

Hi @Slickk @Sunrises Sunsets and to everyone else..I’m so happy to be back..❤️

Hello lovelies

How lovely to her from you MamaBee and I’m happy to hear they you’re coping with your life as it is now. Honestly, when I see ads on TV for all the drugs, I wonder why people take them, so I think it’s better not to Google possible side effects! Things will get there gradually with the house, neither it, nor you are going anywhere, although I understand any frustration in having things you want to put up. I’m the least patient person on this earth  What a shame the ring didn’t work out, but at least you can return it and keep looking. Honestly our lives are pretty much the same here, except the weather’s considerably better, and we’re very fortunate having such good neighbours. We’re going to Trivia at a local bar on Wednesdays, so are making new friends there too.

Thanks @missy, I honestly don’t care what others think of me, the people who know me, know me IYKWIM, I’m just annoyed by people name calling and them blaming others for the divisions in society - totally missing the irony! What a fabulous photo, the colours are stunning. Would you believe it was so warm today, we went in the pool, then sat out after to dry off? Unbelievable for mid November.

We had fun at Trivia, did OK in 2 rounds, but film rounds are notoriously bad for us.

I’ve been feeling tired today, don’t know if it’s anything to do with the vaccines, and both my arms are a bit achey.

How is it Thursday tomorrow?

:wavey:

GM girls and happy terrifically cold Thursday! Just got back from a 20 minute ordeal of trying to tempt Tommy with his medication in a delicious pill pocket. Some days are so challenging to get that pill in him and it is a twice a day ordeal oy to the vey. But we love him so much he is 100% worth it!!!

@MamaBee oh don't get me wrong. I LOVE autumn and even winter depending on how cold it is and if it is too treacherous to go outside hiking. I love the colors and I enjoy the change in seasons and I love my warm weather clothing. BUT as I get older I prefer mild temps as I love being outdoors enjoying activities. And my body rebels against the extreme heat and cold. It's not under my control. Chilblains. Schamberg. Both diseases of extreme temps. So yeah it's my body that hates the heat and cold. Not my brain. But we make the best of it and we do enjoy every single season. We went hiking yesterday. Truly hiking not walking and yay Greg's new knee did not cause him pain. He had a very slow recovery so we were hesitant about true hiking but it went very well..yay! And yes in a moment we can hurt ourselves very badly so we must both be so aware and in the moment. Something I work hard to do. And thanks for mentioning Shelley. Such a beautiful young woman. Truly resonated goodness inside and out. She was one of a kind. May she RIP
XOXO

Thanks @missy, I honestly don’t care what others think of me, the people who know me, know me IYKWIM, I’m just annoyed by people name calling and them blaming others for the divisions in society - totally missing the irony!

@Austina 100% they are totally missing it. It is hysterical in a way (if it wasn't so tragic!) they don't see they are exactly what they are (falsely) accusing others of. People truly suck in so many ways. If it wasn't such a horror it would be amusing. Sadly they will realize too late. I just pray none of us are caught in the crossfire so to speak. They are brainwashed and it is terrifying. They cannot see the forest for the trees. It's like we are in the Twilight Zone.
Glad you enjoyed trivia and also good for you getting both vaccines. Hope you feel 100% very soon. It is a good sign you had some reaction IMO XOXO

@Slickk woohoo happy Thursday...tomorrow is FriYAY ((((Hugs))))

Hello everyone else. We got the flu vaccine yesterday AM and then we went hiking. First hiking of the autumn season and we did an intermediate trail and we were good. Greg's knee did not bother him and that is a relief. He had been experiencing issues on and off (mainly on) since his TKR but he contacted a PT online (lives out of state) who is very well respected in the knee field and she gave him specific exercises to do that really helped him. What a huge relief. We thought hiking might be an issue but so far so good. Greg had no repercussions from our long hike yesterday

Have a terrific Thursday lovely ladies XOXO

Hi ladies.

So this is long overdue for which I hope you forgive me. I'm not on PS very much at all anymore since Shelley died. I find it destabilizes me and makes me very sad. The fact that she had the exact same 3 diagnoses as me doesn't help.

I've stayed in contact with her husband and parents, and Tom sent me my favorite of her diamond rings when she died, and I can't even begin to express how that made me feel. I don't wear it - I just take it out of its box from time to time and hold it and remember what a special girl she was. Her Dad calls me occasionally, and Tim and I are planning to go down to Virginia to see both parents and Tom in the New Year. We had hoped to go at the end of October, but the below happened....

I recently found a largish lump in my breast. That might be due to my fall in August (I can't remember if I posted about that or not). In case I didn't - I tripped up a flight of concrete stairs 3 months ago, broke 3 ribs, smashed up my jaw, really tore up my right arm from elbow to fingertips, and a bunch of other stuff. 2 months later, I realized I had a large lump on the underside of my breast. It aligns with where my hand/wrist was when I fell, and my dr says (and I agree) it's most likely a hematoma from the fall. I hope that's the case, as my hospital can't get me in for a mammogram for 2 months. (Yes - I know....)

I closed down my townhouse in California at the end of August, and I miss it a lot, tho am actually pleased not to be going back and forth. Robert, my housemate out there (Wendy's husband, Eleanor's uncle, David's brother, etcetcetc), moved back with me and is now living in our house in a bedroom and bathroom that we made from a section of our basement in July. He'll be with us until the end of April, at which point David is leaving California and will buy a house in this area, and Robert will go to live with him.

Tim's health is MUCH improved since taking on a much lower stress job. His eyesight is back to being average for his age and his heart issues have resolved and gone away. He will have another chest scope in a few months, and our guess is that the nodules in his lungs will be reduced in both size and number. So all is well there.

Eleanor has one subject to go in her Gradulate Cert in Children's Illustration at UC San Diego, which she started after she graduated from her BA, majoring in art. She's been working part time at PetSmart while doing that course, but as her grad. cert. in art comes to a close, she's decided it's time to make a move into fulltime employment in education with younger children. On Tuesday she went for an interview at the Goddard School, which is only a 3 minute drive from our house (!!), and got a job as a support teacher. They will sponsor her to do her Early Childhood Education certification, which is a combination of subjects and practicum. After that, she's looking to do an M.Ed in PreK - Grade 2. Her dream job is principal of an elementary school. She has a boyfriend now (Michael), and they've been dating for 6 months, but he relocated to Switzerland for 9 months in September, where he's working at CERN in Geneva as part of his PhD program. He'll be home for a visit in just over a week, and she's *really* looking forward to it!

As well as building a 5th bedroom and 4th bathroom, we've also signed up for central air - which we've been meaning to do for years. I decided, in the end, it was way easier than a pool - the 'all-up' quotes for which ranged from 100k to 225k. Since my desire to swim only runs to about 50k, I decided to spend the money on other house projects instead. We're also planning on putting a box window and seat into our main bedroom, and I'm looking forawrd to that.

Both dogs are well, tho Cirrus seems to have developed a deathly hatred for Ballin, and we now have to keep them apart. Annoying, but unsurprising for 2 in-tact males. They both seem to like the new arrangement, as each of them is now the center of attention wherever they are. Oddly, they both still sleep on the same bed at night....

I hope you're all well. I'll continue to pop in from time to time, tho it will probably become less often as my collecting of jewelry comes to an end.

Much love to all the wonderful NIRDIs. <3

Hi NIRDI's!

@Austina I can believe the UK has heated vests. I think I've seen them at Eddie Bauer or LL Bean. I want one. Of course, I've been saying "pink sapphire earrings" to Marty's iPad he leaves on the kitchen island while he's at the gym. Ha Ha. Great idea to make a list of what you've packed. Good thing you were able to get underwear, that is kind of important. Sorry you got called out for something, people can be so nasty. Some people pretty much wished people they disagree with - because we're so STUPID - to DIE in past threads. And yes to you and @missy - sometimes I'd like to say - do you hear yourself? Good deal your vitals looks good at the doctor. Funny you mention ads for drugs. The thing that cracks me up is the disclaimer to not take them if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. You'd think that would be a given. I am glad you and Colin enjoy Trivia night. I hate to hear you've been feeling tired. I don't think I've adjusted to the time change yet. I hope Greg's knee improves.

@missy I think animals hunker down somewhere when it's super windy. I know you do all you can for those sweet feral kitties. Nice you and Greg got good report cards at the retinal specialist. I am kind of sick eating breakfast out every weekend. I like my breakfast better. I'm sure we'll stay home more often living out of town. How sweet to celebrate the anniversary of your first date. I had that written down for us somewhere in a calendar, but I lost it. It had to be in the spring.

@MamaBee fall is a pretty time of year. If it's possible though, it is windier here then. I am glad you are less nervous about your disease, in a way it's nice to know what you're dealing with and - as we often say here - take it one day at a time. I'm so glad you are doing better. I don't have many pictures of the house finished, I'll try to get one soon. I do have one that shows our teddy bear estate sign with the house in the background. The roofers have NOT shown up yet or called yet on the roof for the observatory. I am sure it's low priority since it's no where nearly as expensive as doing a house. The prairie grass is considered what grew here naturally and it grows to about 12 inches and dies off in the winter so it never needs mowed. Good deal you are decorating. It takes a long time to get things set up. Sorry to hear you didn't care for your baguette band. I find baguettes can be gorgeous or completely duds.

@mrs-b I am so sorry you (and @missy) miss Shelley. It is so sad. It's nice you keep in touch with her family, I am sure they appreciate it. I hate to hear you got hurt so bad when you fell and it's always scary to find a lump. What a relief Tim's health has improved. That's great Eleanor is almost done with her graduate cert. Good luck with all your renovations.

Not much new with us. We've both been working most of the week. I'm about to do my lifting and relax for the evening. We had about 2 dozen antelopes in the yard again today. They were pretty skittish too.

I ordered myself a used - but like new - zoom lens that showed up today. But, the minute we pulled it out of the box you could hear it rattling. Marty could see an internal lens moving. It saved me $600 to get it used, but I think I'll just suck it up and order a new one. Darn.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Oh no @mrs-b, I can’t believe you can’t get an appt any sooner, that’s just ridiculous. Hopefully you and the Dr are right about it being ‘just’ a hematoma, worriesome nonetheless. Glad that Tim’s health has improved, stress is a bugga and can cause havoc on one’s health. Sounds like Eleanor has got her life planned out well and knows what she wants, good luck to her. Sorry the boys aren’t getting along, I wonder what’s going on there? I’m sure Shelley’s family appreciate the friendship you had, and the connection you have with them now.

Ugh to the lens arriving damaged @marcy, can you get a refund? Honestly, these contractors, shouldn’t matter what size the contract is, if they say they’re going to be there, they should be there. I always think “how would I know I’m allergic to the drug if I’ve never taken it before?” I hope Marty’s iPad is listening, pink sapphire earrings sound lovely!

That bright pink really suits you @missy! So glad the physio has helped Greg’s knee, it’s amazing what strengthening and stabilising exercise can do. We’re still in the mid to high 70’s here, I keep forgetting we’re almost in the middle of November.

Thanks for the support, I’m just not going to bother reading or responding anymore.

We did our food shopping this morning and went in the pool this afternoon. Not sure how much longer we’ll be using the pool, but we’ve had a long season this year.

I rang this afternoon and got an appt for tomorrow morning for my bone scan, and bloods on Monday morning. Honestly @mrs-b, I could probably get a mammo appt too, and that’s with us living in Hicksville! Colin has a dermo appt tomorrow afternoon, just a check up.

Be safe and well lovely NIRDIs

:wavey:

Good morning lovely ladies and happy happy FriYAY!!!

@Slickk wooohoooo happy FriYAY...hope you enjoy a most wonderful weekend...supposed to be nice weather albeit windy (((Hugs)))

Aww thanks @marcy as you know I prefer animals to many many humans. Humans will destroy this earth but animals always respect the land. Sorry about the no show roofers...I hope they come soon. Boo to the lens arriving damaged. I hope you can get your money back. Yes I like our meals better than the restaurant's. But I have Greg the chef so I am lucky. It seems many are not self aware and this is the result. Their behavior oozes entitlement and it is very sad. Values have gone into the toilet as I see it. But social media magnifies these things and often I wonder does the majority feel this way? And I think (and hope) the answer is no and this November proves it despite an alarming number of people being clueless the majority are perhaps now awake. One can only hope. XOXO

@Austina aww thanks. I love pink. Blue is my favorite color and pink is up there top 2 or 3 lol
Your weather sounds wonderful enjoy! Today we are going to attempt cycling despite my better judgment
And yes some people are such sore losers. We will be gracious winners. That is how we were raised. It's quite scary how easily you can convince someone of a lie but cannot convince them about the truth. Lots of love

@MamaBee have a terrific FriiYAY and a wonderful weekend soul sister XOXO

@mrs-b wonderful update about Tim and Eleanor and that you are finding comfort from Shelley's family and have a ring to remember her by. Sending you much love and gentle hugs and may all the good continue. And yes to central air...I could not live without ac and central air is the most civilized way (IMO) to get AC. Enjoy

@springerspaniel good morning and happy weekend to come XOXO

So we went shopping yesterday in the cute towns around us. We went to Pt Pleasant and then Manasquan and it is very different driving there than cycling there lol. I got 10 (!!!!) new winter hats to wear for the colder weather and despite having so many already I couldn't resist. They are adorable and fun to wear and very warm. I have been wearing hats all autumn and it is fun to switch it up. The holiday music is already playing in the stores and decorations are popping up everywhere. It's feeling festive which is a nice feeling.

Today we are thinking about cycling. Highs in the low 50s (yesterday was in the 40s all day) but a windy day (what else is new here lol) so hopefully the heated vest will keep me comfy cozy. Enjoy a fantastic friYAY dear friends XOXO

The other day we saw Aplacas on our hike. They are so beautiful

And yesterday as we were shopping

Happy fantastic friYAY lovely ladies XOXO
